This place is tiny but it packs a punch of delicious ice coffee and fresh baked goods. Line was out the door, I waited some others didn't but I'm glad I did and it was worth it. I love the bagels. read more

Good bagels. The Grubhub menu should allow you to order how much cream cheese you need. I ordered the "specialty cream cheese" for a dozen bagels and received 1/4 lb containers. Ordered Poppy, Everything, and Egg Everything bagels- received plain egg instead of Egg Everything. Ordered a Baker's Dozen, but only received 12 bagels. read more

Higbie Bagels - Plain Egg bagel instead of Egg Everything - Bagels Near Me - Islip, New York

Disappointed and Misled I was sold "vegan cream cheese" after being assured multiple times it was vegan, only to later learn it wasn't. My daughter, who is dairy-sensitive, had a severe reaction. Though they refunded my money, this is a serious issue. This place used to run like a Swiss clock, but sadly, that's no longer the case. read more

Love higbie bagels. I ordered an egg turkey and cheese on a flagel. It was so good! Perfection! read more

I ordered a western omlet with cheese on a roll. I don't like red peppers, I prefer GREEN peppers. That made the difference with how the omlet tasted. Not great ! read more

Not the best bagel spot in town. I'd highly suggest going across the street and supporting SPK instead. Much better quality bagels and sandwiches... and friendlier people. Higbie bagels kinda sucks. Their bagels are stale as hell and small... read more

This establishment has been for over 50 years and the bagels are still the best around. The inside has changed, especially after a car wanted to make it a drive through. There bagels are always good. Hardish on the outside gooey doughy but not too doughy on the inside. A definite hole inside which I like. I hate when it's so dough the hole is not there. We also ordered a box of Joe it was ok not great was what I was told. read more

Very good bagels. Not the bakery style like many places have. The service was excellent, but parking wasn't great.

This has become my go to bagel spot lately. There is definitely no shortage of bagel spots on Long Island and especially on South Shore of Suffolk but this is currently my go to. Store is small and sometimes there is a long outside but service is fast and line moves so don't be scared away. Not much in regards to ambiance as it's a basic Long Island Bagel Spot. read more

All the bagels I've tried here so far have been perfectly cooked. Classic Long Island bagels the way I remember growing up. The staff was friendly and the egg sandwich was delicious. No place to sit but that's not a deal breaker because of the perfect bagels! read more

I have been a resident of west islip for over 40 years. Higbie Bagels has been a staple in this town. Unfortunately the new owners suck. I wish the previous owners would have taken the time to fine a suitable replacement for the people in this town. read more

This place doesn't care about reviews and I can see both here and in person... this wasn't my first time here but my last... I was in at 120 wait 5 minutes for someone to come to the front, I ask if the kitchen is open and it's not so I change my egg order for chicken salad on a bagel, I asked for the bagel to be heated but "it's going to take a few minutes" bc everything is already ready for closing which is at 2pm. Everything was off and wrapped- to top it off, I paid 10.65 for chicken salad on a hard bagel. 10.65....the bagel isn't even cut all the way through OR across.. girl was rushing to clean... read more

After not having any bagels since February due to the coronavirus, my fiance and I decided to order bagels from Higbie Bagels, especially after years of recommendations from his stepdad. We wanted to really treat ourselves and get lox with creamcheese, which here is 9.50 a pop. We decided it should be worth the extra expense, especially through delivery. They ended up not only being disappointing but some of the worst, saddest bagels we have ever had and definitely was not what was advertised. Instead of sliced lox and cream cheese, we received catfood sized diced salmon and not even enough cream cheese to cover a single side. The bagels were badly burned and hard and were tinier than my petite hands. Cream cheese wasn't even as thick as a finger. We can't believe we paid over 20 dollars for such terrible bagels that were not only poor in construction but based on a lie. This is NOT lox and cream cheese! Taking advantage of your customers during these times is unacceptable. Shame on Higbie Bagels! read more

A+++ Bagel Shop w/ the nicest staff who goes above and beyond! What an awesome Bagel store with even more awesome people working. The owners are also incredible!! Their bagels are honestly the best I've had in years, and their sandwiches are delicious also. Highly recommended from a bagel expert!! Don't sleep on the everything bagel with lettuce, tomato, and red onion! read more

it's truly a shame how rude and condescending they are because the egg bagels are the best around. hey, I get it. you're a busy bagel shop. but when I order more than one bagel please don't huff and puff. I say good morning, how are you, thank you. and am nice. To be greeted with eye rolls when I order my bagels is kind of wild. You make bagels! Bagels make people happy! Bagels are a way of life! Please just don't be mean read more

I've waited almost two years and my favorite bagel shop has finally reopened after being demolished by a Maserati. For a while, I didn't think they'd ever come back. I was so excited to see them open again this morning and am happy to report that the quality is still there. I got a plain bagel with veggie cream cheese as well as an everything bagel by itself. The plain bagel had a really nice crispy exterior with a soft and chewy interior. The veggie cream cheese had big pieces of carrots and scallions. The taste was excellent. This is exactly how I remembered Higbie Bagels. Long Island bagel shops tend to give WAY too much cream cheese for my taste, but Higbie Bagels did a good job giving an appropriate amount. I tend to like just a little cream cheese, so I took some of it off the plain bagel and used it on the everything bagel. The everything bagel was a masterpiece. So often the ratio of the toppings are off, not so here at Higbie Bagels. I also prefer when there is a little bit of coarse salt mixed into the everything blend. The everything bagel had such great flavor and the occasional grain of coarse salt gave a nice pop of flavor. Again, the bagel was baked really well. For one bagel with cream cheese and another bagel plain, I was charged a total of $4.08. This is a bargain for the quality of bagel they're putting out. I used to drop by Higbie Bagels a few times a week. I can't wait to go back again. There really is no substitute for Higbie Bagels in this area. Stuff A Bagel and Bagel Buzz don't even come close. read more

The French toast bagel is to absolutely die for everything is fresh an amazing I love this place

I called to order for pickup. the person that picked up the phone had no idea that I spoke and understand Spanish. proceeds to put me on hold while the phone is still ringing and calling me disgusting names in Spanish to his coworkers . never go to this place again . they do not treat customers with respect. read more

My go to bagel spot. Yes it may be busy some days but atleast you know it's always fresh and that they do good business.

My kind is not welcomed here. Only when I'm wearing my uniform here I'm treated with decent customer service. I will never come back here. I was about to place my order and the woman simply just walked away came back and then had the nerve to ask me if I was being helped. Ummm what? Then I placed my order and she's making faces. Never will I be back in or out of uniform. read more

When I ask for white toast I mean toasted white bread. Not un toasted white bread. They weren't even busy. Sorry.

Always delicious bagels and cream cheese! A great selection! Also their crumb cake is amazing!

Ugh.. where do I start... No one wears their mask there (the workers) they touch your bagels bare hands.. I order one BAC. First off the price of it is outrageous. I could have gotten 3 bagels for this price at wallys Then rude service.. my bagel is done sitting there on the counter dying and what's the worker that helped me do... starts sweeping completely ignoring me! It's COVID pandemic out. Wear your mask stop touching your customers bagels bare hands it's disgusting honestly! & not one napkin in my bag. Thanks Needless to say I spent over 10$ on a bagel I threw out. Happy new year please do better!! read more

This has become our go to bagel place over the past couple of months. Bagels are extremely fresh and of great quality.

Glad to see this place reopened after being closed for such a long time. Unfortunately the service and atmosphere are not the same as before. I went in last Sunday at 11:30 am, well after the morning rush; There were 2 lines formed, very confusing, apparently 1 for bakery items and 1 for bagels. There were maybe 4 customers waiting in the store and 2 people in front of me. Well. After 10 minutes I walked out. The staff must have been turtles in their last life because they moved so slow. Plus the fact they had personalities like a piece of cardboard. There are too many other well run and delicious tasting bagel shops in the town to put up with slow, unorganized and stuffy staff. read more

Tried Higbie Bagels for the first time last week. Pleasant staff, fast service and tasty bagels. I ordered a BEC on an egg everything bagel. Was satisfied with the ratio of the food. The bagel has a mildly sweeter taste than your typical nyc style bagel but I'm not hatin. Solid stop for a bagel or breakfast sandwich. I'd go back :) read more

Good bagels but....... This seems like a common thread with places that hire young people. They either don't wear their masks or don't wear them properly. Especially this one young guy that works behind the counter. He always has his make down below his nose. He's a nice enough worker but has to understand in these times it's not acceptable, even if he personally doesn't believe in wearing a mask. Maybe it irritates his facial hair but that's not a excuse. read more

Roast Beef with American Cheese, lettuce tomato on an everything bagel. $9.75. The sandwich barely had any roast beef at all on it and it was just under $10. Way better places to get a sandwich in my opinion. The bagel was good but the price for what I got was ridiculous. read more

Higbie Bagels - Bagels Near Me - Islip, New York

Higbie Bagels makes the best bagels in West Islip by quite a large margin and perhaps is the best bagel store on Long Island. Their bagels are exactly what a bagel should taste like: dense, chewy, a little crispy, ever-so-mildly sweet, but not mushy, doughy, or tough. Good cream cheese selection. Friendly and quick service. Strong coffee. After the reopening, they added a much-welcome grill, making them the best place to grab a bagel BEC in town as well. It was certainly a long couple of years without them around! read more

When I moved to West Islip 2 years ago I was so happy to live in such a great town. The only things missing was a Starbucks and a great bagel place. I met Frank from Higbie Bagels last night at taste of West Islip. Today I went in and bought some bagels and they were nice enough to give me some festive (Halloween bagels) ones to try. I like to think of myself as a bagel conoisseur and these bagels were delicious. Not too big. Not to doughy. Perfectly crispy. read more

Either provide air conditioning for your employees or do not allow them to handle food while sweating profusely. Having your employees work the front counter, prepping and handling food while dripping sweat right in front of customers should never happen. The bagels are the best in town, but watching sweat drip from employees faces while they are leaning over your bagel, cutting and adding whatever you ordered is absolutely disgusting. I'm sure I'm not the only 1 that sees this, will not be returning here until someone else can attest that this health issue has been remedied and we no longer have to worry about something we didnt order ending up in our food. read more

it's okay good enough but i had a bad muffin once and threw up so did all of my friends. thanks

When I'm in West Islip, we eat bagels from Higbie bagels most mornings. My family has been in West Islip for generations and everyone agrees, this is the place. People seem to really live this place, but the bagels are good but not so good to justify their prices and lack of customer service.
