I grew up in Wantagh so had many bagel spots to choose from my whole life. Moved to Bay Shore and found this lil place which trumps them all in my opinion. I always get the egg everything and it's just loaded with seeds, perfect size and dough texture. I always ask for well-done bacon, and they always get that right which to me is rare. This place has never disappointed me, coffee is really good. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for an amazing BEC. read more

This bagel is okay. I come in here occasionally and the bagels are really not up the par. I always get an everything bagel and it's not full or fluffy. I stop here most mornings on my way to work. The owner and his staff are the nicest, friendliest people I have encountered in a business setting. The bagels are good (I'm on Keto so I really cant have them but I do occasionally) and the coffee is the BEST. Looking at these nasty reviews makes me wonder if it is the customer themselves that have deep seeded issues they cant manage in their every day lives. That maybe they are the problem? You know you are in Suffolk when you walk into here. The bagels are just ok and you know too are a questionable area when they also sell cigarettes at a bagel store. Place was busy so it has very fresh bagels but the quality is not as good as I'm used to working in Brooklyn. read more

Once in a rare while I venture over to West Islip for the bagels in which I have set my standards by since I was a teenager. Turns out this place was not even on the yelp map yet!! I am astonished by this. It is so befitting and such an honor to be the one to add them.. Know what I think? West Islip is protecting their little hidden diamond where the bagels are so gooey and warm that all is right in the world with a bite. Its just not fair, we all should have these sexy simple classic bagels. Fancy cream cheeses and salads they are not- this place is old school. They do however do egg sandwiches, which I cant even think of right now or I will stop writing and head back in for one and Im way to full already. My buttered bagel was 2.67 with coffee- There are no tables but your bagel will not make it out if the parking lot alive I assure you. If you come in here tell em I sent you- they wont know who you are talking about but the shy 14 year old inside me who has adored this place since the doors opened back in the early 90s will feel honored. read more

I like the bagels and sandwiches here but there's one thing they do that bugs me to no end. All of the staff wears those clear plastic food service gloves. Problem is, they never take them off. They handle money, boxes and food all with the gloves on. The only thing those gloves are protecting is their own hands. For the love of God, either use the gloves in a manner that makes them useful or be honest and just grab things with your bare hands. Edit: They still do it and don't seem to care. VERY DISSAPOINTED!!!!!! I went to this bagel store to get bacon egg and cheese sandwiches for me and my family, but I was very upset afterward. Not only did they charge me the same price that every other bagel store would, but they only put one egg. The sandwich was so thin and not enjoyable at all!!!!!! They are cheating the consumer for their own profit and gain. maybe they think just because they're West Islip, that they are better than everyone else. I grew up with this bagel shop and have loved their bagels however as i venture back to it for two breakfast sandwiches, the employees are always polite and nice however everytime there is an issue it's because of one of the managers being unprofessional and rude (everytime I shrugged it off). I had politely ordered two breakfast sandwiches for me and my mother. Everything was fine until they had told me my order was ready. After asking if it was good to go by asking one of the girls who confirmed, I had left. I had gotten home to realise that one of the sandwiches was missing. No problem I went back, when I politely and understandingly went to the counter and had said politely said (wasnt upset and i worked in a food place so i had no issues) "hi, i believe you forgot to add one of my sandwhiches to my bag" the manager while running around snapped at me saying "you mean you forgot your sandwhich" I was shocked at how unprofessional she was even when I was polite and was very friendly. I had gotten my sandwich, one of them didn't have ketchup or salt and pepper even when they asked me twice and I had said yes to the condiments(always happens I don't really mind). Never again will I go to my childhood bagel shop heart broken :( read more

This bagel store must be doing something right,the place is always packed.The owner and his wife are genuinely nice people. The service is fast and courteous. I have been a customer there for 20 years. I have a lot of respect for the owners because they are very hard working and caring people. They constantly donate product to all the sports teams and youth organizations in the community. The bagels are made fresh from scratch every morning and it's one of the few bagel stores that bake hot bagels all day. Their egg sandwiches are the best! Their chicken salad is epic and they use all boars head products. We need more family owned and operated small businesses like this in our community. read more
