If I can do negative stars I would . So completely disappointed in you , John Maple St. Deli has been a huge disappointment, especially considering it's within walking distance of my home. It's a quaint neighborhood deli with over 100 years of history, which is why I kept giving it chance after chance. I've ordered from this deli many times. They have frequently gotten my order wrong, but I never complained. I simply accepted it and moved on. On Father's Day, I ordered three egg sandwiches around 10:00 a.m. I arrived at 10:30 to pick them up and still waited another 15 minutes. After spending about $35, the order was wrong. Again, I let it go. Today was the final straw. I ordered two egg sandwiches and a small deli iced tea for delivery. The total was $33 before tip. The owner, John, delivered the order himself. He rang my Ring doorbell twice but never knocked. We completed the exchange without issue. When I opened the bag, the order was wrong--again. I called and politely asked to speak with the owner. I explained that my order had been made incorrectly. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, John hung up on me. I called back three more times, and each time either he or his staff hung up on me. I drove to the deli to speak with him face-to-face. His response was simply, "That's unfortunate," and he refused to remake the sandwiches or offer any refund or solution. Everyone makes mistakes. What separates a good business from a bad one is how those mistakes are handled. I wasn't angry about an incorrect sandwich--I was shocked by the complete lack of customer service, accountability, and basic respect. After years of overlooking mistakes and trying to support a local business, this experience has guaranteed I will never return. There are plenty of delis that appreciate their customers and stand behind their service. Unfortunately, Maple St. Deli isn't one of them. read more

Recently changed owners. The new owner had one of the best bagel places on Long Island ,Bagelicious in East Meadow. They catered the party I attended. Heroes were amazing, and literaly the best potato salad I have had , since 1999. The year I moved. Thinly sliced and just delicious. My wife and I stopped in on our way to McCarther Airport. We were greeted by 2 very nice counter workers. We both ordered different roast beef subs. And potatoe salad with bacon. My sandwich was the munchie. A staple at Bagelicious. Plenty of meat on both . We ate half our sandwiches at the outside table, and finished the other half at the airport. If we move back to Long Island, I would get a sandwich , every weekend. read more

This is the second I tired out the deli before reviewing. I'm really not sure how a deli does not have grilled chicken, that seems like something standard to offer for sandwiches and wraps. I had thought maybe they just ran out the first time I went, so when I went back a month later, to my surprise, they still didn't have that. I was able to get fried chicken cutlet instead, which isn't what I truly wanted as I am trying to eat better, but it was good, just not what I had wanted. They did not have whole wheat wraps, the did not have avocado and they did not have chipotle mayo. I really struck out on this deli. I had also ordered a sausage egg and cheese which was good, but the bagel was just ok. It's truly been an issue finding a good deli around Bay Shore. read more

Visiting our daughter in the local area and on the way back to the airport we decided to stop here and pick up some food for the plane ride. I also called to make sure they had bagels to take back and they held them for me. The owner was so nice and the service was top notch. I had the best BLT on a roll that I have ever had. It was perfect! Also took home a cinnamon roll and coffee cake. Everything was fresh and delicious. I haven't been to Kleiber's since the new owner took over- until this wknd. I ordered a 3 ft italian/american hero for a party. The owner was very pleasant while taking my order and didn't try to upsell me, instead he offered to cut the slices thinner to make the hero last longer. Additionally, the hero included a pound of potato, macaroni, and slaw and a pickle/olive platter. The hero was circular and presented a veggie flower. It was a very nice looking hero, and all the food tasted fresh and delicious. Def recommended! read more

You see, I can be fair, even when I feel something wasn't right. I was looking for a friend's house when I found "Kleiber's Delicatessen." It's supposedly a historical location so I felt, legendary food must be served there. I don't know how I came to that conclusion, but it was a excuse to eat nevertheless. I pulled up to the curb and gingerly made my approach because the weather was great. Inside was nothing special, just your normal prototypical deli. The menu was pretty standard as well. I asked the gentleman if they accepted debit and he said "Yes! But there's a seven dollar minimum." That to me is the biggest turnoff. You make paying customers have to buy more than they want because you apply a minimum. Let's call this what it really is, it's a business not wanting to lose money on swipe charges so they make sure you spend if you're going to use your card. Back to the review. I asked for a turkey sandwich with cheddar and tomatoes. I asked for bacon and he told me he would have to charge two dollars extra for the bacon. I thought to myself, that doesn't make sense, there are items on the menu with bacon that cost less. I should have ordered a turkey BLT and asked for cheddar to save money. I didn't want to be difficult so I just ran with it. My drink plus meal came out to twelve plus dollars. The price wasn't that bad, but doesn't mean I like to waste money. Once I got my food I went to my car to eat. I must say, the sandwich was delicious. It was thick with turkey and bacon. The roll was soft and fresh, and he used just enough mayo. So I wasn't completely mad regarding the two dollar bacon. See like i said, fair, I gave them four stars instead of the three I believed it deserved at the time. But next time I go, and there will be a next time, I will order of the menu board and just ask for cheese. read more

Tucked away in a residential neighborhood just south of Main street, this deli was packed on an early Saturday morning. So far I've only tried a good ol' bacon egg and cheese and a roast beef sandwich (called the "Bilge Pump) from here. The place looks like it's kept very clean. I like my eggs scrambled and they were perfectly done. The bacon was dead on. Not terribly crispy, but not undercooked. The roll the sandwich was served on was very fresh. Overall, it was a great sandwich. A little pricey ($6?) or so, but when in Rome.... Now. Let's talk about the "Bilge Pump" sandwich: I specified VERY thin sliced roast beef, on a garlic bread type hero with gravy and mozzarella. Pretty rub of the mill sandwich. The roast beef was perfect. I mean PERFECT. Cooked just right. And sliced just how I like it. This sandwich was STUFFED and it tasted phenomenal. This type of sandwich is my go-to, and the sandwich here at Kleiber's did not disappoint. It was the best I've ever had. The garlic bread was just garlic-y enough and the gravy was just salty enough. Incredible. The sandwich set me back $12.50 (ouch) but I think it was well worth it. The staff is always super efficient and pleasant. The deli is definitely a little out of the way, but if you're nearby it's worth a visit. No tables to sit at (in the winter. This is a small deli. They only make sandwiches for breakfast/lunch. They don't have much of a selection of bagels. It's a good old school no frills deli, good heavy sandwiches-But it's nothing to rave home about. Very Limited selection of cold cuts, no prosciutto- also no grilled chicken. Older woman who works there seems to very unhappy and not want to be bothered. A retro venue, part general store, part candy store, part classic old school breakfast and lunch delicatessen. The kind of neighborhood place where the regulars walk in and the deli clerks ask, "The usual?" The staff is young and energetic, the current crew having been there for several years. You won't find an exquisite salad case or exotic lunch creations, just a limited variety of on-site made, fresh classic deli salads and only Boar's Head meats. No generic "deli" ham, etc. The breakfast and lunch sandwiches are a great value for what you get compared to other delis. I've sent trades people working for me there and to a person they rave about the quality and portion size of the food. Probably the best self service coffee for miles. The eponymous owner is present 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. He's been a local deli owner for three decades with more than 20 years at this spot. Like many sole proprietors of small businesses he's got his own way of doing things. His name is on the marquee and he's ultimately responsible for the quality of his product. Big fan of Kleiber's. Giant sandwiches, real butter, perfectly cooked roast beef, high quality cold cuts, great staff. My go to place for beach breakfast and lunch. Two people can share one hero. If you call in a sandwich for the beach and ask to pack it for the beach, they'll do a nice job for you. I usually get the Italian sub but I've gotten other sandwiches there including breakfast sandwiches, BLT, roast beef, bologna and buttered bagels (from Bagel Boss). All delicious. I haven't had a bad experience at Kleinbers. Oh, and it's very conveniently located for me. read more
