We came for lunch 6/28 for our first visit. We sat in the dining room. We waited apx 10 minutes before anyone approached us. It became apparent the man behind the register was the cashier, waiter, cook etc, possibly the owner. He was very nice, friendly and professional. We ordered two waters and hubby got the shwarma platter with two sides and he chose spicy black beans and hummus and I ordered the greek salad. The platter was very delicious with the black spicy beans and spicy hummus being large sides and oh so tasty. The greek salad was disappointing as only iceberg lettuce with the dressing being disappointing. On a weird note, the prices on the menu are NOT what you are charged. If you eat in the dining room, you don't see the cashier until the meal is finished. There is sign at the register advising you that prices went up due to food costs, but no notice on the table or menu. We believe most of their business is takeout, so I recommend you go that route. The platter was very good, but the service was just so so.

I love this spot. Perfect for quick, healthy, unique food- friendly staff- good prices- delicious/fresh food! The falafel wrap 10/10, the grape leaves 10/10, chicken shawarma wrap (not pictures cause my kids dug in too quickly) and the pita were incredible (as always) ! Very solid. We do have a place we go for all of our Mediterranean food, but this one does not disappoint. FOOD 4/5: We ordered a spicy rice platter with chicken shawarma and a mixed grill platter. Both came with 1 pita each. Rice platter has 2 side choices I chose hummus and fattoush salad. His mixed grill came with either rice or 2 sides. My one suggestion would be same option as the rice platter to have rice and sides. ATMOSPHERE 3/5: Clean. Not a date place or a place you go out with a friends for the night. More of a take out or quick lunch or dinner. No need to get dressed. We both enjoyed it, and would be back.

Finally a place to get Mediterranean Food in the area. Amazing food that you will be hard pressed to find closer. A bit pricey but we will definitely be returning customers.

I had an hour to kill before a doctors appointment so I tried this place out. I got the vegetarian combo with falafel, lentils & rice, hummus, pita and fattoush. The entire thing was absolutely fantastic. The falafel was probably the best I've ever had. They were made almost in little donut shapes which gave it more surface area and more crunch. The hummus was great and the splash of olive oil on top was perfect. I ate the fattoush and the rice together and my mouth is watering as I type this. I live about an hour away and I'll be making the trip back soon with friends.

So delightful! I stopped in for takeout and asked for a recommendation- a chicken, rice, and 2 sides combo. The chicken was so flavorful and tender. Delicious. The spicy rice was equally flavorful and not too spicy. It came with grilled pita that I dipped in the hummus and baba ganoush. Definitely stop here on your way through town instead of stopping at the nearby "fast food" options. It takes the same time, supports a local business, and is most likely more delicious! read more

Have been going here since 2017 and it used to be AMAZING, now however.... -prices are so high for food portions (3 tenders cost about $10, wraps are $12) -fries used to be battered and crispy, now just regular Pros: -shawarma wraps still taste great -seating is plenty and the vibes are great for a catch up -service is friendly -they have packaged hummus, grape leaves, and more so you can just grab and go read more

Delicious fresh food prepared to order. The woman, who may be the proprietor, was so helpful. I wanted lamb and she suggested lamb shawarma. It was warm and so good. I bought some baklava for dessert. Sweet and wonderful. And although I got takeout, the place is nicely decorated and welcoming. I'll be going back soon! read more

I would rather leave no review than a bad one, but not in this case. I ordered & picked up a delicious Vegetarian Platter that was $13.99 online. When I returned to work I noticed that I was charged $17.99. Thinking it was an error, I called & was told that they need to update their website. They were polite & did apologize but no refund was offered. I worked 22 years in the restaurant business & that is not good practice. Although it was good, I won't go back. $4 is definitely not worth losing a customer or getting a bad review.... Extremely disappointed. read more

First time here and I really loved it. I ordered a falalel platter (you get to choose 2 of the sides) with baba ganoush and fatoosh salad. Magnificent! This is some of the best tasting falafel I have ever had, and everything was so fresh. Loved all the taste combinations. I also got some scrumptious desserts. Superb! Service was fast and friendly. I will most definitely find an excuse to be in Monroe more often. Yum! read more

Came in looking for vegan food in the area and Middle Eastern cuisine usually works for us. The gentleman behind the counter was lovely and had an inviting personality We ordered falafel, hummus, baba, grape leaves, fattoush, tabbouleh, mujadara and pita. The fattoush, baba and grape leaves were great. The hummus and tabbouleh were pretty good but the falafel was greasy and hard as a rock, the pita was stale and broke into pieces and the mujadara was not good. Bland with few lentils. Overall, it was average. I may try again bc of the grape leaves! read more

Order is for takeout. Woman at counter was friendly and helpful. We ordered 2 wraps- chicken and falafel. Wait time: 10-15 minutes for food to prepared. Food: chicken wrap was definitely better than falafel. The falafel lacked flavor and needed more tahini sauce. I'm a huge fan of maumouns in new haven so everything is compared to them. This didn't live up to the flavors you get there. read more

The falafel perfectly crunchy and that flavor was delicious!!!!My husband had the chicken shawarma wrap and I had the chicken gyro both were perfectly seasoned and the flavors blended so well. Their hummus is supremely on point and their babba ganoush surprised me, with a wonderful smokey flavor. Now in a million years I have never eaten beets until today when i decided to try one, such an amazing earthy pickle crisp to them, she brought me more and I ate those too. I also have to say their french fries were crispy and hot!!! I would eat here a lot if we lived closer. So if you live close, love good healthy tasty food, this is where you should be right now! The owners are amazing and so very nice!!!! COME GET YOU SOME FALAFEL!!!!! See you soon!!! Ps Servings are HUGE so bring an empty stomach like we did and we still left with a to go box. read more

Enjoy some freshly prepared Mediterranean delights! Great grilled meats and side dishes. The moussaka was excellent different then the traditional version the make it both with meat or without.m but without the potato on top. Kofta (lamb beef and parsley meatballs) were tasty but maybe slightly bland. Tabouli was fresh and delicious !Will go back again for sure. read more

My husband ordered on line. I went in to pick it up with my mask on. The guy working there didn't have a mask on or attempt to put one on when I came in. Really wtf??? If my husband hadn't paid I would have left. It was my first time there. So I picked up our food and we ate it in our car. We were on time for our pick up but my fava bean dish was just barely warm. It had nice flavor though. I wish it had been hot. My husband got a Greek salad. The lettuce and tomatoes were not very good but the rest was ok. Not rushing back ever because of the lack of Covid safety read more

They have changed hands so many times I can't keep track - went a few weeks ago - food was really good but guy cooking wasn't wearing a mask during these Covid times. I didn't get Covid so I guess it was ok. Falafel, Grape leaves, hummus, spicy rice with chicken were all really good. Great local option and food was good. read more

food was really bad, didn't taste like lamb for me or chicken for my husband, I would have understood if it was bad for one person but it was inedible for both of us, lamb was chewy and did not taste at all like lamb! Will never go back! We went there 2 years back it was ok, but this was dealbreaker! read more

I love mideastern food, and grew up eating it, and have continued to do so. I have eaten at a few such restaurants in lower Fairfield County, and can state that Monroe Falafel has the tastiest, freshest, and most closely authentic food I have had since moving from NY in 2019. My spouse, a picky eater, also loves the food here. The portions are large; spouse had leftovers today from our eating in the restaurant yesterday. Lola, the owner, is one of the nicest, warmest, and sweetest people I have known. She is genuinely interested in you enjoying the food and the atmosphere. I would give six stars if I could. read more

Update! I have gotten take out twice from here now and it is really really good! I think my view was jaded by the interior. I have gotten the falafel wrap and the stuffed grape leaves. Both delicious. I think the owners can really take it to the next level if they work on the interior of the joint. Again- delicious food, with a weak interior space :) read more

If he was a fair business man he should have offered for me to come back and add gravy, instead he was yelling defensively. That set me off.
