This spot might be might favorite for Spanish food in bridgport so far. The food is clean and delicious. I usually try and get the peril with rice and gondules. Or the whole chicken with a side of the mojito sauce with rice and red beans. They also have a really good potato ball. Aka relleno de papa. Still some stuff i have to try here they mainly speak Spanish but that's not a bad thing for me atleast. I plan on coming back here perhaps next weekend.

Service was quicker and better today. The food always tastes fresh and good. My daughter loves their rellenos de papas.

Pork chop yellow rice and sweet plantain with a stuffed potato ball definitely going back.

Great authentic Puerto Rican food, friendly staff, plenty of parking, good prices. What else could you ask for. Located in the heart of Bridgeport CT's Puerto Rican community El Coquito is the #1 go to spot if your in the area and in the mood for delicious Puerto Rican food. Wide variety of meats, fried foods and dishes. I had arroz con gandules y habichuelas ( yellow rice with pigeon peas and beans) con pernil ( roasted pork). It was delicious. Warm welcoming environment with a cross section of customers from blue collar to white collar everyone was eating and everyone looked like they were enjoying their food. I would rate them #1 in the area for Spanish food

Milford's restaurant week was happening, and Costa Peru was on my list, so I decided to go there. My family ordered seafood, while I went with the Peruvian Chicken Wings topped with Peruvian Barbecue sauce, Ceviche Chicken Wings, and Lomo Salado. I was particularly curious about the Ceviche wings because I'd never heard of them before. The ceviche sauce is inspired by Aji Limo Ceviche, a lively Peruvian dish featuring fresh, raw white fish like sea bass or flounder "cooked" in lime juice, seasoned with citrusy, spicy Aji Limo peppers, red onions, and cilantro. It's usually served with sweet potato, corn, and leche de tigre (tiger's milk), offering a tart, spicy, and refreshing flavor. The Ceviche wings were fantastic. They had a bright citrus kick, and I could taste all the distinct flavors, including the spices and chilies. They really hit the spot. The barbecue wings were just as enjoyable, with a sweet yet tangy sauce and perfectly seasoned chicken. The Lomo Salado was also a hit; the rice was fluffy and full of flavor, and the tender Lomo meat practically melted in my mouth. For dessert, I ordered the flan. It was my first time trying it, and I was curious about the taste. Honestly, I didn't care much for the texture, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. My son picked the Passion Fruit Cheesecake, which was pretty good. It's not something I'd order again, but I'm glad I tried it. The service was excellent, and I'm definitely looking forward to returning and trying more dishes from the menu.

I'm a huge fan of tres leches and Latina Catina is now added to my list of fav places to order from. I can't wait to go back for happy hour. They have two separate times (3-6) and (10-close). For starters we had an empanada made from plantain, it was very good, made better with a sauce they gave us. Next we shared a plate called Picada which was various types of fried meats which was excellent. It contained pork, chicken, beef and a type of sausage. It was served with tostones (fried green plantains). The serving was huge. We loved most of it, except for the beef, personally I like it more rare and it was over done. The restaurant has an extensive menu with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. When you enter don't be surprise if it looks like a corner store, they do have tables set up to eat in or takeout.

When my food came out, it was like a 5 course meal. Seriously too much food for one person but hey a girl's got to eat - so not complaining because I definitely eat. This dish also came with an empanada (made with green plantains and dough mixture, tasted like oh so sweet butter!) Different from other empanadas and pastilles but in a good way. I may add that I live 90 minutes from here and only come to this town 1-3 times a year. So, my friends usually take my suggestions and a group of eight of us showed up on a Saturday night with no reservation, and somehow the universe blessed us with a table. The place was packed, even the bar had people standing around it; so we knew we were in for a good night. One thing I loved about Cibus that night, is the crowd. It's a great mix of Hispanic and non‑Hispanic diners, which tells you the food speaks to everyone. The décor is warm and inviting, and the dimmed evening lighting gives it that cozy, "we're about to eat well" vibe. Parking was easy too. I have to admit I thought it may be harder to find parking but we found a spot right behind the restaurant, though street parking is also an option, but was packed. Our server, David, deserves his own shout‑out. Super patient, friendly, and ready with answers for every question we threw at him. He checked on us often without hovering, and everyone at the table agreed he did an excellent job. Now, the food...my favorite part. If you've read my reviews before, you know I eat everything but have a soft spot for Asian cuisine. And even though I'm Hispanic, I rarely go out for Hispanic food because I cook it well at home and most places don't impress me. Cibus, however, did not disappoint. Not one dish missed the mark, and the whole table agreed. We even ordered extra food to take home. We started with the Garlic Shrimp with Mofongo. The creamy orange sauce caught me off guard because it's not the usual style, but it worked beautifully. The flavors were balanced, the mofongo wasn't dry (thank you!), and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. We liked it so much we ordered multiple plates of this one; plus two Cuban sandwiches to go. The Cuban was tasty, though it could use a little more meat and sauce. The Ropa Vieja was another hit. Plenty of meat, plenty of sauce, and the black beans were flavorful. A sprinkle of fresh cilantro on top would have made it perfect, but that's just me being picky with my extra flavors and aroma. We also had the ceviche, the trio of little mofongos, and the Chips and Guacamole -- and yes, they make their tortilla and plantain chips in‑house. Not a single crumb survived. I tried the Tostones Sliders with pork, and I wouldn't change a thing. They were loaded with meat, had the right amount of veggies and sauce, and were just delicious. The only dish that didn't wow me was the Maduro with cheese. I love maduros, but the melted mozzarella felt a little plain. There's so much potential here, instead of Mozart maybe try some queso Mexicano, a small side of meat sauce, chimichurri sauce, or even a spicy drizzle could take it to the next level. Speaking of spice, I asked for hot sauce and was surprised to get a watered‑down Frank's RedHot. For a Latin fusion restaurant, something like Cholula, El Yucateco, or Tapatío would fit the Latin fusion theme so much better and elevate the dishes. But overall, Cibus is doing so many things right -- great service, great food, great atmosphere. I'm already planning my next visit and bringing new people with me at end of May.

The restaurant midsized, it's nicely decorated, clean, and good for groups too. The staff were very friendly, food was good, however the waitress was ok. She forgot to bring my appetizer and forgot to place my to-go meal in time of the kitchen closing. The waitress was apologetic and I understand humans forget things from time to time when you're busy. However, this evening was less than half full and when we left it was near closing time...only a couple tables were still there. The least they could have done was comp my meal or have the manager stop by to apologize. But that didn't happen, I just didn't want to make a fuss...so I paid the bill and time will tell if there is another visit in the future.

On my first visit, I ordered the Parchados Churrasco, served with white rice, Yukon potatoes, guacamole, house salad, and chimichurri sauce, everything was flavorful and well balanced. This time around, I decided to switch it up and tried the Tamal Tolimense (Toli-Paisa). I didn't see it on the menu, but I had spotted it on their Instagram, and they were happy to make it for me. The Tamal Tolimense was a very generous portion. It's a traditional Colombian dish from the Tolima region, wrapped in banana leaves and filled with masa, rice, chicken, pork, vegetables, and egg. The filling was hearty and satisfying, but the masa itself was a bit bland and could have used more salt. We also shared the Parchados Picada (Meat Lovers) for two ($39.80), which came with steak, pork and chicken strips, fried pork belly, pork ribs, sausage, blood sausage, tiny yellow potatoes, arepitas, tomatoes, and ripe plantains. The portions were excellent and definitely worth sharing. For appetizers, we ordered the Canasta de Plátano (stuffed plantain cups with steak, chicken, and shrimp) and the Alitas de Pollo (6 wings with fries) Both were solid choices, though I wasn't a fan of the Mango sauce, I think a mango habanero hot sauce option would have been better. To drink we had spicy margaritas and a round of pomegranate Long Island iced teas, which were strong, flavorful, and well made. The ambiance is another highlight, the space has a great aesthetic, the food is always nicely presented, and the music was on point, with a mix of classic salsa and modern artist such as Bad Bunny. Parking can be tricky on the street, but they do have a parking lot nearby if needed.
