We lucked out coming at a great time with zero line. The smell of amazing waffles filled the ice cream store when you walk in. The service was fast and polite and the ice cream was superb. The flavors are unexplainable and the texture of all the flavors we tried was super creamy. The bubble cone is a bit pricey but worth the splurge the warm bubbles waffle pairs amazing with the cold ice cream. We tried the cookie butter, milk and cereal and the very very chocolate. All were very good. The outside seating had a fire pit and fun funky chairs making for very fun ambiance. Inside had bar stools to look out onto the fire pit area. They do allow taste testing, parking is ample and credit cards are taken. Four stars for cleanliness- trash cans were overflowing, when sitting at bar inside area you look up and the ceiling, light fixtures and facade is just covered in dust. This place should replace "Milk" with "I don't want your business". They have ok milkshakes when they actually have milk in stock but for the last 3 times I have gone; they have been out of milk. At the very least, this is somewhat negligent for a place calling itself milkcraft. Also... checked the reviews for the last year. Ton of 1 stars and it's been somewhat cathartic watching the owner's account argue with each of the different reviewers in the comments portion. Had disappointing dessert at Milkcraft today. The establishment had a unique and hip look to it. It's small with one long bar seating, and a few outdoor seats by a fire pit. That said, I wish there were more seating to fully take your time to enjoy the dessert. Ambiance rate 8/10. A few negatives right off the bat were they were out of their 2 popular flavors that they were advertising in their restaurant which were Pb & J Roasted Banana and Cookie Butter Blue. Luckily, my one friend was able to get the last Cookie Butter Blue. In addition, I ordered a milkshake and they tell me "they're out of milk." How can a restaurant called "MILKcraft" that sells ice cream be out of milk? Plus, the staff seemed irritated to do their job. The service was relatively quick though. Staff/service rate: 5/10. My friends and I ordered... 1. Cookie Butter Blue: This had a nice sweet flavor however, it lacked real cookie butter flavor. It almost tasted like vanilla and chocolate combined. Rate 7/10. 2. After a long drive from Smuggler's Notch Vermont, the fam got the craving for sweets, stopped at milk craft for the 1st. At west Hartford around 2:30, the place wasn't crowded which was great, parked at the meter, cute and cozy ice cream parlor , a selection of flavors that other stores/ franchises will not have. The shakes were smooth and creamy, the salted Caramel sweet and thick and the chocolate was rich . They have a small lounge where you can relax and enjoy your sweets. Milkcraft has some really great ice cream, but they really fell short in the area of customer service for me. We came in around 9pm and I thought the place was closed bc there was no staff member in sight. After about 5 minutes of waiting, someone finally came out to greet us. The part that really made me uncomfortable was the inappropriate music that blasted through the speakers. Lots of profanity, which made made several folks uncomfortable. I overheard another couple complaining about the loud music too. The music was so loud that we ended up leaving shortly after getting our ice cream. What happened to this place? When they opened it was awesome and now it's terrible. They used to use liquid nitrogen and make the ice cream in front of you. Plus the portions were huge including the fresh whipped cream. Now they scoop pre-made hard ice cream (almost freezer burned) and the scoops are small. The staff is very rude and disinterested. They look like felons on work release. When the girl with the neck tattoo handed me my cup without the whipped cream I paid for, I said "I had whipped cream with that" and the look she shot me could've killed. We've heard so many good things about this place, but when my group of friends and I went last night we were disappointed! First, we go up to order and the girl at the register had the nastiest attitude. She was sighing, rolling her eyes, and just overall looked like she hated everyone. We place our order anyways, and waited on the side. After paying, we're told that they're sold out of what we ordered. No problem, the other nice employee let us switch and get a different flavor. Finally our ice cream is ready and the same girl from the register hands it to us with her hands reached out, her head turned to the side and again rolling her eyes!! This used to be THE place from 2013-2016 because the ice cream was fresh, made to order with fresh bubble waffle cones. Then as years went by, quality just started dropping. They then started to batch make the ice cream and just scoop it as customers came and now, in 2024, the ice cream is all pre-made! There is no reason that 1 scoop of pre-made ice cream should be $9!! The ice cream used to be the most fresh and creamy dessert, with the most amazing toppings, but nowadays is just another ice cream shop in Fairfield. Every time we are in town we go with our relatives to Milkcraft. This place is always packed with people and for good reason. The ice cream is made fresh Infront of you with liquid nitrogen and they have lots of amazing flavors to choose from. If social media didn't exist, I don't think Milkcraft would either - this place was absolutely designed with Instagram portrait mode pictures and TikTok videos in mind. Virtually every ice cream option is ridiculously photogenic, especially if you're willing to pony up a few extra dollars for one of the bubble waffle cones. My mom and I stopped by here after lunch on Friday, a very pleasant/toasty March afternoon. I haven't been in downtown Fairfield since probably the mid-90s when I was a young pup, so I had no memory of what it looked like but I was pleasantly surprised to see an upscale college town. It's not a coincidence that Milkcraft is housed a few blocks away from a college campus, nor that it's surrounded by a lot of newer, edgy restaurants and shops, including an intriguing noodle bar right next door. This place is catnip for young adults and their parents looking to spend a little cash while they're in town. We timed our visit well - no one was in the establishment when we showed up, but by the time we had our ice creams, a line of three or four people had materialized. I ordered a scoop of the Milk & Cereal ($5.95), with Fruity Pebbles as the cereal in question. It was pretty tasty, definitely on the heavier side but I think that's to be expected. The prep work for the ice cream is pretty interesting - they're using liquid nitrogen to freeze the ice cream scoops, which makes for a solid optic (again, social media rears its head) and a smoother texture. Very cool. My mom got a red velvet flavor and declared it "magnificent." She lives two towns over and I suspect will be returning shortly. One negative is that by virtue of the extensive freezing process, it takes a few extra minutes to get your ice cream. If you have a sizeable line in front of you, it could take a while to start sampling the wares. The seating area is a definite bonus, especially on a nice day. There's a fire pit with some Adirondack chairs, along with other random, edgy post-modern chairs and upscale picnic tables. The only downside (and there's really nothing they could do about this based on the space) is that the seating is likely harder to come by during busier times, especially the primo firepit Adirondacks that we sat in, but that's true for a lot of ice cream places in my experience. This review is for the Milkcraft Truck out of Fairfield, CT. It is difficult to condense my experience into a few sentences but basically "Don't Trust" that it will show up to your function! I booked the Milkcraft Truck in March 2025' for a very important occasion at my home for Friday, July 4th at 5pm... my daughter's college graduation for her doctorate degree. We combined this with our annual 4th of July but with many, many more people invited than we normally would have. It was to be a surprise for her. I put down half of the deposit for 50 people and dealt with the owner, David M. via emails, exclusively. I gave my address and all the needed information. I wanted to book it early as I knew this would be a popular date. I sent many emails to David during the time leading up to July 4th... such as can we add vanilla bourbon to the usual 4 flavors? I would be willing to pay extra. He replied, "no extra charge". When is the balance due? And that I was so excited that it was still going to be a surprise for my daughter. David only answered about half of the emails that I sent but I know he must be busy with 4 Milkcraft stores in CT. So I didn't think too much of it. I finally got an invoice online and paid the remaining balance on June 23rd. David was exclusively the only person I was dealing with. He was the one that replied on the website for the Milkcraft Truck. Well, the day of the party came... my driveway was roped off for the truck, we served apps. and the main meal quicker than normally in prep for the truck at 5pm. Well, 5pm came, them 5:30pm came and by 5:40pm, a family member called Milkcraft in Fairfield for me since I was busy with the party. The store knew nothing about our party. That is where the Milkcraft Truck is located. They gave us Jacob's number (he is the manager of the Milkcraft Truck) and when I spoke to him, he knew nothing about our party. I had to go through my phone to find the confirmation email. He said he wouldn't be able to get a truck out to me that day. I was fuming!!! He found out that the driver of the Milkcraft Truck supposedly got in an accident the day before with his own car. I hoped that he was ok but said that this is unacceptable... It was a surprise for my daughter but most of my 50 plus guests were aware of it coming and anxiously waiting for it. I never even received a phonecall that the truck wasn't coming. And how did the Milkcraft truck manager not know about my party if it was booked months prior and paid in full? And where were the other two people that were supposed to be on this truck with the driver? Didn't they think to call me to say they wouldn't be able to come if the driver wasn't there? And with 4 stores... how do you not have a backup replacement if someone is out sick or in an accident? I feel like the ball was totally dropped and Jacob never got the memo about my party from the owner. I was so angry. I told Jacob that I wanted David to call me the next day, July 5th. Well, no phonecall and finally after 3 emails to him... he did reply back via email, not with a phonecall..." sorry for the inconvenience of my driver being in an accident. Your refund was issued and it may take up to 5 days". That's it. I sent another email to him asking the above questions b/c I really don't know what to believe. Why no phone call to say the truck wasn't coming? Where were the other two staff members that were supposed to be on the truck with the driver? Why is there no back up staff if someone is out sick? Can't you run a store short staffed for 3 hours to fulfill the promise of the paid for truck? And why didn't the truck manager even know about my party? David, the owner, never answered any of these questions. Jacob felt terrible when he found out what happened when I spoke to him the day of the party. He had offered my money back with another Milkcraft truck in the future which I declined... what would I do with a Milkcraft Truck after the party? I did get my refund but nothing else from the owner. My advice to anyone wanting a Milkcraft Truck to come to their event... Don't do it... the owner could care less about his customers. The ball was dropped somewhere and no one would fess up to it. Honestly, you can save a lot of money and aggravation with just ordering a large icecream cake from Dairy Queen or other reputable franchise with owners that really care about their customers!!! read more

I'm not one to usually go for anything with too much chocolate or chocolate cereals (which are ised in almost all options. I love Milkcraft, and think it is delicious. My favorite is easily the chocolate churro flavor. The texture of the liquid-nitrogen...brewed?...ice cream is super thick and creamy. Out of this world--I was excited to share some with my friend. I had traveled from Hartford to West Haven, and on my way back, I was hungry. Well, I found the town center and struck gold. I almost did ice cream for dinner, but although I ended up going to the (incredible) noodle bar next door for a meal...I just couldn't say "no" to a guaranteed delicious dessert. I live in Hartford, so I am comparing this location to the much closer West Hartford location. My two main impressions: - The square-like footprint of this location made walking inside much easier! - The evening I went, the workers didn't quite have the same flare that I've typically found at my home location. Finally tried Milkcraft! Not sure what all the fuss is about. A large cup is over $10.00. I tried the caramel and sea salt. The ice cream was very soft and began to melt and drip over the sides of the cup almost instantly. Very messy. Overall, it was way too sweet, making it taste artificial . The caramel popcorn served on top was overkill. There are much better ice cream shops, including Dairy Queen down the street. I came here today to treat my son who had just gotten a shot at the doctor which he absolutely hates getting. We got the cookie butter with caramel and oreo crumbs on it. As always, delicious! Usually get the bubble cone but decided to get it in a cup this time because my 5 year old would have made a mess. Love the decor and environment. We had the donut creation with the peanut butter and jelly flavor as well as the bubble Cone with Vietnamese coffee flavor as well as two scoops of boring flavors for the small kids and the crazy Blue Cookie Monster creation. There will most definitely be a line especially as the weather gets warmer and people are looking for a treat to cool themselves down. Every single person's ice cream is made to order, so do expect to wait. The ice cream is made on the spot with liquid nitrogen which in itself provides a show for the customers. You can get the ice cream as is or on the HK style bubble waffles. I tried the flavor made with Whistle Pig bourbon. Let me tell you, the flavor came through! You can taste the bourbon cutting through the rich creaminess of the cream. I could've sworn that this place is some kind of club based on how loud the music they were playing. I was in the cafe next door and I can hear through the walls, so I decided to check it out. Was also forewarned that it could be a expensive.
