Sweet Ashley's is a local ice cream shop in Norwalk & gets rightfully busy as it's on the corner of a busy intersection & is tasty. I had the toasted coconut & it was very tasty. The employee also gave a very generous amount. The only reason that I have this place 4 stars versus 5 stars is because I also got coffee from here and it was absolutely appalling, they had a pot in the morning just sitting there for hours & called it "fresh." Anyways not a huge deal, just definitely stuck to the ice cream here. read more

This review is for the ice cream cake only. Stopped in on a weekday to pick up an ice cream cake. Asked the staff to add a message on the cake - he didn't have the best penmanship but it came out ok. The service was fine. The cake was just ok. It was vanilla and chocolate with some chocolate crunchies in the middle. I was expecting a bit more flavor or pizzazz for $25. It was fine but needed a little something else. I'll probably just grab a Carvel ice cream cake instead next time. read more

Best In the World Ice Cream in Norwalk, CT Wow! The homemade (yes, literally made by the owner) ice cream at Sweet Ashley's is absolutely delicious. I had coconut chip which was scrumptious and my sister had a rootbeer sorbet that tasted so much like an A & W we did a double take. Strawberry cheesecake ice cream is delicious reminds me of good humor strawberry shortcake. It has strawberry swirl and cake like crumb inside. Also a small cup is a huge scoop. Cookie Monster was a popular flavor with the kids, the night we went. Friendly service and lots of flavors. read more

This family owned small batch ice cream joint in a quiet corner of East Norwalk is a hidden gem. Their ice creams (and sorbets) come in a whole host of tantalising flavours, and they really taste deliciously home made, reminiscent of an earlier era when ice creams were not yet mass produced in factories. The delightful Chocolate Raspberry Truffle is a clear winner - good old fashioned chocolate ice cream well studded with chocolate chunks oozing raspberry jam. After leaving the movie theater, I really wanted some ice cream. There are many places I could've gone but based on the yelp suggestions Sweet Ashley's was my first choice. I checked their hours to see if they were open, and they were so I drove over. It is a cute spot. Outdoor seating. And indoor seating as well.They have countless flavors. I opted for the cookie monster on a cone. The cone was dipped in chocolate and chocolate sprinkles. This was the best ice cream I've had in a long time and I'm tempted to drive from Stamford back to Norwalk for the same exact thing. read more

Perfect place to stop for ice cream if you are near the aquarium. I confess that I am not an ice cream addict and prefer other desserts, but when I do go i to a shop I am always interested in trying unique or nonconventional flavors. If you like fruity ice cream, try peach and you will not be disappointed. A popular flavor my kids liked is cookie monster which is blue ice cream with oreos and cookie dough. Been a loyal costumer for many many years, but the original ice cream recipes have been changed and not for better. The flavors are just not there. The new Cookie Monster flavor may have a more vibrant color but it's lacking in flavor and stains mouth blue. Not sure if the quality of ingredients is the same or they are just changing recipes, maybe a testing period for the new shop owner? I really wanted to keep loving sweet Ashley's but every time I go, I feel disappointed on the flavor quality. read more

I will NEVER go back to this place again! We happened to be in the area with my elderly parents who wanted ice cream - it was a little before closing. They refused to make a shake because it was too close to closing. After my parents and husband got their ice cream -they were getting napkins and one of the young men said quote un quote " we are closing can you leave" not even please. It was unbelievably rude.My husband is in food service and I am a pharmacist- it doesn't matter if someone comes in near closing - you service them as if they were your first customers of the day. If you look on the wall you will see an old picture of them. I envy the people in Norwalk who go to the beach and have this place to stop by. I give this place a solid 4. So many flavors to choose from - Twix was my families favorite of our selections. There are a lot of Ice Cream places in the area but I think this place holds their own. One of my biggest regrets about living in Norwalk is waiting 4 years to give Sweet Ashley's a try. I guess it's the unassuming exterior that looks more like an accountant's office than ice cream shop. Or maybe it's the location that is convenient on the way to the beach, yet hidden from view on the drive home. Regardless of the reason, I try not to dwell on the knowledge that I let 4 prime ice-cream eating years slip through my fingers. I've seen people order soft-serve, though with the vast menu of hand-made, hard ice-cream covering the spectrum of classics to funky, I can't figure out why. Hand dipped cones? Check. Free samples? Check. Sundaes and shakes? Sprinkles and candy toppings? Ice-cream cakes? Check, Check, & Check. Thank goodness I have kids to use as an excuse, otherwise I'd be one of the many single adults sneaking away for a scoop or two of Sweet Ashley indulgence, explaining away traces of chocolate on the lips to an unsuspecting spouse at home. Prices are fair (including a kid's size), portions are generous, and service is friendly. Don't squander the opportunity. read more

One of the WORST ice cream experiences. It took the young kid 3 times to make my correct order. When I asked for a cone, he presented me with a cup. Supposedly the founder, Stew Sr., put it up after arguing with a lady over some sour eggnog decades ago until his wife checked him. It definitely stuck, because in two decades of shopping here, I have literally never had a bad customer experience. The staff is always so solid. They have everything--a great bakery (the Apple Cider Donuts are legendary), a massive seafood section with fresh lobster rolls daily, a killer meat department where I usually grab lamb steaks, and a seasonal garden center and "Little Farm" with goats and ducks that the kids love. They even have a food truck outside now. But if I'm being completely real? Half the time I roll up here, I am solely there for one thing: the hot bar. They have the absolute best wings around, specifically the Spicy Italian ones. I will literally drive over just to grab a container of those wings for lunch. I had read some suspiciously positive reviews about Dairy King on Yelp, and ordered a cheeseburger and fries. I get that generations of Norwalkers and others have fond memories of their time here, and it was with that fact in mind that I ignored my intuition and entered the outdated, near-empty facade just after noon. For the new and unititiated, a word of admonition: do not let your senses fool you. Dairy King looks like a dive, and tastes like a dive, and not in any delicious way. I get that going pretty much anywhere for ice cream on a hot summer day is fun. What I do not get are comments here asserting that Dairy King's food, particularly their burgers are anything more than mediocre, studiously average at best, and a dubious step up over major chains. To all who will, in the the romantic twilight after Little League games or movies, arrive at Dairy King hungry and ready and willing to scarf down just about anything, I hope for your sake that good experiences continue, that fine memories of family and friends are created and then savored in the hopefully delicious silence of your unfolding life. But for me Dairy King is far behind even the middle of the pack in it's chosen catagory, my days of eating "just about anything" are well behind me, and Dairy King will have to take it the rest of the way without me, at least until the day the real estate developers lean on City Hall to condemn that section of Main Avenue (under a phonied-up interpretation of the eminent domain statutes) and Dairy King inevitably (and blessedly) falls to the wrecking ball, destined to become mixed-use retail with residential up above.

We just had lunch next door at Firehouse Deli and thought that ice cream sounded like a good dessert idea. We really liked the interior and their selection of old school candies. After looking over the menu, I ordered a cup of "Peanut Butter Blizzard", my wife ordered a cup of "Mint Oreo Bomb", and our son ordered a cup of "Cookie Monster". We all enjoyed our choices. Thankfully my reaction isn't as severe as it could be for someone else, but that is a huge concern and could be genuinely dangerous for another customer. Mistakes happen, but between that, the rude attitude toward my friend, and the dismissive demeanor he had with other customers while we were there, it made for an overall pretty bad experience. And to top it off, it was easily some of the most overpriced ice cream I've ever bought.
