First time here and we came to celebrate my Uncle's 70th Birthday. The restaurant is right on the water, so the views are absolutely amazing. The hostesses greeted us warmly, and we chose to sit out on the deck to take in the scenery. It was breezy and comfortable. It's a long drive from NY, so we arrived hungry. We asked for bread, but they typically don't serve it until dinner. Thankfully, our waitress understood and made it happen, bringing out two baskets for our party of eight, lifesaver! Drinks were great, and we started with the seafood tower (tip: get two if your group is larger than four). For mains, we ordered a variety-lobster roll, burger, tuna tartare, fish and chips, steak and eggs, and the kids' tuna and fries. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the service stayed friendly and attentive throughout. Only downside: there was a $5 per person fee for the cake we brought in, plus a waiver to sign. I have eaten here throughout all the transformations of restaurants in the last 10 years. Tonight's dinner was I would say a 5 out of 10 - I started with the tuna tartar which was delicious ; but my dish came out first and when fine dining : it's very rude to deliver courses in incorrect order. This stressed me out and also had me eating faster or slower then my guests as I could not wait , (with doors open, many flies) in and out of the patio area / out door seating area. It's unfortunate because the tuna was amazing and fresh and probably the best I've had in a long time. The chicken was okay. Asparagus needed to be rinsed more as sand was present ; and side dishes were no different than the sides given with most of the dishes anyway. I wasn't blown away, and I didn't get the ick. This was our first visit to La Plage for Westport Restaurant week 2024 for dinner. We were easily able to make reservations online for a Saturday evening. A lovely and scenic drive through the Longshore Golfcourse brings you to this gorgeous waterfront property with spectacular views of Long Island Sound. Perfect to watch the sunset from. The restaurant has outdoor seating but most was reserved on this particular night for a private event. We were seated within minutes and provided water. I decided to go with the 3 course restaurant menu of endive salad, jumbo scallop, and dessert ($48) My dining partner decided on the fish and chips (regular menu item $28). The local apples and dried cranberries in the salad offset any bitterness of the endive and watercress and was a refreshing delight. The saffron risotto had a wonderful taste and textures and perfectly complimented the seared scallop. The beet crisps were not my favorite as they were just chewy, but overall the dish was excellent. The fish (cod) was a good portion with a great tasting beer batter; the fries were super. The floating Island dessert was airy and just sweet enough with a great crunch from the crystalized almonds. So different than usual desert fare. The service was pleasant and attentive. Our server explained that the menu changes frequently using in season and locally sourced food items. In the recent past, my spouse and I had a terrific time, at La Plage! We were visiting Westport, CT from NYC, and felt so happy that this restaurant exceeded our expectations. Yay! I meeaaan, we hoped it would be lovely (especially since we'd gone to celebrate our anniversary), but it was MORE than lovely -- it was excellent. : ) We found the environment to be both warm and upscale -- even though it was "fine dining," there was nothing stuffy about it. The dinner atmosphere was elegant, charming and adult (though, again, sans being stuffy in tone). So, the staff members were a big part of what we loved about it. : ) Brooke, our friendly hostess, and Nick, our delightful server, were both wonderful. We arrived around 8 PM and were promptly seated. Their nurturing vibes helped us to feel right at home! Honestly, everyone was on point, from the server to those who brought us bread and butter and refilled our water. (So sorry - the only names we caught were "Nick" and "Brooke.") As we don't usually go to such nice restaurants, that was a pleasant surprise...we thought, tbh, that the energy might be a bit uptight, but - while maintaining high standards of hospitality - it was anything but that. In fact, it was really pleasant in nature. Alright -- let's get into the food! : ) I'm sorry that my photos are a little blurry here, due to the low lighting, yet everything tasted so amazing. Along with a healthy, vegetarian appetizer ("The Fall Vegetable Crudite"), I opted for the yummy fish and chips and my honey opted for a delicious burger. Both were expertly cooked and presented; we loved our meals! And - to top it all off - we rejoiced in a shared chocolate lava cake with English cream and pistachio sorbet. It was to die for! We've been coming here for years, but no more. Their lobster rolls are pathetic. Barely any lobster in a butter-soaked bun! (for $42.00). Salad was overdressed and other meals lacked flavor. They used to be much better. Need a new chef and higher standards to justify their prices. Waitstaff are very good, however. read more

Four of us celebrated my wifes bday.As we were there for her bday we thought it would be rude had we complained about the food but after dinner we all talked about what we had. Wonderful panoramic views of LI Sound! Very good and friendly service. Good and varied menu. Prices are typical Fairfield County, meaning medium high. Portions are good sized but not massive. Had a lovely birthday dinner at La Plage in Westport! The view is absolutely gorgeous - there was a wedding happening and we arrived in time to see the sun start setting. For appetizers we split the Oysters Rockefeller which were delicious, and the Mediterranean sardines, a new addition to the menu, that was very flavorful with added chorizo and potatoes. My father got the paella which he loved, my husband got the lobster roll which was good and I got the very refreshing kale salad. For dessert we ordered the cheesecake which came with a very sweet birthday candle and they accommodated my fathers dietary restrictions with a sugar free dessert! We had an excellent meal and five service at La Plage while visiting college friends in Westport. Appetizers consisting of mussels, and endive salad were top notch. All entrees - lobster roll, salmon, cavatelli- were well prepared. They have a nice wine list, too. When visiting your superb restaurant the afternoon of last Saturday, I realized that F Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Daisy spent time here in the 1920s. I very much enjoyed La Plage. The service was wonderful. I even had two free coffees. I enjoyed the artwork, even in the ladies' room. The energy was peaceful, and it seems like a wonderful place to return to do more reading and some writing by hand or on my Wordpad. The view is good enough; of course, it is comparable to the Hamptons or other shore places, but it can't approach any of many places in Greece and then Italy. The food was good. I loved the rose, which I have only recently started to order over white or red wine. The clams casino, although I prefer baked clams were great, with a wonderful balance of garlic herbs and butter. Writing of butter, they should put some more rock salt on it, great idea. They should also have more of a variety of buns, bread, cheese sticks, and such. The spinach omelet was wonderful. I loved the soft goat cheese and avocado textures. The salad was good. The chocolate mousse could have been more chocolaty and served with some cake and could have been served not in an at times hard-to-maneuver jar. The coffee was good. The brunch was reasonably priced at $29 for two items or at $35 with dessert. The rose, at $10, could have been a bit less to match other prices. The music was wonderful, mostly remakes of 1980s music, at times by non-original artists, to a mellow yet sensual beat and rhythm. Beautiful views and a large patio area make this place special. The rolling lawns of the country club hide this little gem. The food was excellent, we both had the chicken and waffles from the brunch menu that includes a mimosa or Bloody Mary. The dish had a tasty buttermilk dressing for the fried chicken. It had a lovely sweet flavor and is complemented very well by the bbq maple syrup flavors. The service was exceptional. Attentive friendly and quick. La Plage is managed by a first class restaurant group, and the food, and the service, are right there with the best restaurants of the area. The vibe is modern and, well, vibrant. The main deck, on the water, was full, but we were seated on the side porch, also with excellent water views, and I think it's the quietest part of the restaurant as well, something we appreciate. Was so excited to try this place when my fiancé and I popped in to see our wedding venue this week. It just so happened to be restaurant week, so we were very excited to try a bunch of things. Service: 10/10 The waiters were phenomenal, super friendly and attentive. The water glasses were always filled promptly Ambiance: 9/10 I loved the decor of the restaurant. We sat outside in the covered porch area, and we loved the lighting out there. Only suggestion is that with the winter approaching, they should add some additional heat lamps because we were very cold sitting on the edge where the heat lamps up too could not reach. Food: 7/10 We started with the Catamaran cocktail which was excellent, but the glass was only 2/3 full when it arrived at the table. We enjoyed the kale truffle pinsa, faroe salmon, panna cotta, and ile fantantte. The greeb circle chicken was good, but a tad dry, and the prosciutto pinsa had too strong of a blue cheese flavor for our personal preference. I also wish there were more menu options, especially entrees, as there wasn't a wide range. I'm so disappointed in La Plage. I love the ambience and views there and have had many nice lunches there with friends. However we went there for my sister's 40th birthday with a large group and it was a complete mess. The food took FOREVER and when it came they completely forgot my husbands food. The waiter barely checked on the situation and did not apologize. He finally came back to check on things after the rest of us were done eating. Again no apology. Finally the manager came over but also barely apologized. His solution was to take the meal off the bill. YA THINK?? That's the best you can do?? My husband said to please not bring his food because he didn't want to eat after everyone else was done. They did end up bringing his food- THE WRONG DISH. They also forgot to bring the fries for all of the meals we ordered with fries. My dad asked the manager to at least add free dessert which he said he would. But when the check came; no dessert was comped. Some of the food was good (mainly the appetizers and desserts) but the entrees were not great. The ambience and views were the only good part of the night. With what you're charging customers, hire more staff and train them appropriately. Do better! read more

Service was ok - definitely feel like your getting rushed out of your seat, plates will be cleared from in front of you even as your still picking at it and as soon as you say no to dessert your check arrives even if you wanted another drink. Food - for the pricing would think you would get much better food - they serve the lobster roll with onion straws on it - could not think of a more over powering food to put on - for a "high end" restaurant to put simple packaged dried onion straws on a dish is not what I want or expect. Beautiful setting, horrible hostess. NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY! Management: train your employees and change your ridiculous policies! What a horrific experience we had... We walked in at 4:00pm. Inside is empty. Not a person at any of the tables, one guy sitting at the 15-person bar. We ask to sit at one of the tables to have a drink, but we're told we have to go outside to the patio, because inside is reserved for dinner. We go outside. A dozen people scattered about...two guys sitting at the outside bar, a group of four folks in the lounge chairs, another 25 tables each one empty. Empty. No one. We sit down at one. Hostess comes over and tells us they're reserved for people dining. I remind her it's 4:00pm, we are just having one drink, and that there's no one here. She says "unfortunately we cannot allow you to sit there". ... she points to a high table and tells us we can go there. So, we do. They're not ideal. Off to the side and in the sun. It's very hot outside and the table is in the sun. There's an umbrella nearby and we ask if we can move it over. Hostess says "unfortunately we cannot allow the umbrellas to be moved". So, there we are. 25 tables in the shade on the patio. Not a person at a single table. We can't sit there, we can't sit inside either. So...we leave. Goodby! What a shame. Beautiful setting... horrible treatment. I want to say to the hostess "unfortunately, you're an idiot", but I don't. One star for the beautiful setting and one undeserved star because I'm a generous guy. read more

The setting for La Place is beautiful. On the Sound, sailboats, beach and golf. But that's where the good stuff ends. The food is mediocre at best but that is probs too nice. The Lobster Roll was $29 and was sprinkled with the worst parts of the lobster (claw cartilage, anyone?). The roll was baptized in butter as well. The service was very rough. For example, two of our entrees arrived ten minutes after everyone else's. Not good. The place needs a ton of work but it is not at all worth it. read more

Color me surprised...star rating really undersold this place. Beside the spectacular views and cool, casual vibe, we had and amazing meal...cavatelli (Nice and spicy), chicken with crazy interesting polenta cakes (just need more than one!) and a perfectly cooked burger bigger than my mouth with crispy fried capped off by one of the best crème brûlées (white chocolate). The majority of the dishes are seafood, but there are certainly enough options to satisfy your seaside cravings. There is an extensive wine and spirits list as well. Due to demand I highly recommend making reservations online in advance. La Plage is open daily for lunch and dinner.
