Avoid by all means. The "hard" ice cream was as soft as their soft serve ice cream. I asked for the hard ice cream to be on a cone and he put the cone face down in a bowl because the ice cream was extremely soft it wouldn't stay on the cone. Then he tried to convince me it's the same. I said what? Thinking to myself, why are you trying to convince me that, when I ask for ice cream to be on a cone and you put it in a bowl because it's so soft it's like soup! Haha I was in disbelief. So he finally gave up and I asked for a soft serve instead. Well, guess what? It was so soft it was dripping beyond what's to be expected so I had literally two licks and there it away. read more

The soft serve is the creamiest I've maybe ever had and the whipped cream is homemade (to me, homemade whipped cream at an ice cream parlor is a hallmark of a good one). Service was totally fine. My ice cream was like soup and handed to me in a bowl completely covered in ice cream dripping everywhere. A total mess that took a while to clean up. From the reviews, one would expect the worst and I personally received the complete opposite in way of customer service at the Westport, CT location. The young woman that assisted me was extremely nice to both myself and the other gentleman who placed his order for ice cream. I went to grab up the hurricane mix that was also in the review after she had explained to me exactly what was in it...I opted for both vanilla and chocolate Ice Cream and not only did I ask for Reese's PB Cups for a topping, I had asked for the Reese's Pieces as well and she was more than happy to make that happen. Now this Hurricane was exactly that...A soft served ice cream bite of happiness. Cool, refreshing and sweet. What more can you ask for in a creamy treat for the ages? If you are a fan of Peanut Butter, the requested mix that I had asked for, is the perfect amount of Peanut Butter madness and both the crunch from the pieces and the chocolate goodness from the cups is a dream that you honestly do not want to awake from......I closed my eyes and was engulfed in bliss. The best in the state so far. I have been eating ice cream for 65 years and traveled the 48 states and have had some good ice cream or gelato in Italy This shop was a great discovery. My wife and I enjoyed the nice warm friendly greeting and the clean shop with easy parking to start, then amount of offerings from Gelato to ice cream in so many great flavors wish I had my grandkids with us they would have had a ice cream wonderland. My wife had a Pistachio gelato and I had a Rocky Road. They were both great See you next time we are in the area for sure. read more

My son has life threatening food allergies to all nuts and seeds. We were in Westport for the day and were not familiar with this ice cream place. Meric answered all our questions about allergies. Made us feel extremely comfortable and then offered the first ice cream to my son on the house! I visited for the first time last night and felt transformed back to the good old days but with better ice cream. We tried two flavors of gelato, and both were extraordinary. Yes, it is expensive -- $6 for a small cup. But it was more than enough and absolutely delicious. The sales person was patient and friendly enough, and the place has none of the pretentious trappings of Westport or other ice cream stores such as Milkcraft. Not really as the gelato selection alone is worth the stop and there is the cow outside "kid factor" that you have to wade through but even that can be ignored once a taste of the hazelnut gelato hits your mouth. This place is average, middle of the road ice cream. I can't say that the ice cream seemed particularly better than any grocery store ice cream, but it's also not bad. I wanted a sugar rush when I visited, so I got a scoop of cotton candy and a scoop of peppermint. The taste was kind of bland. The sweetness was quite mild, which is the opposite of what you want when you order cotton candy ice cream. My boyfriend had some sort of ice cream with mix ins, but it tasted very much like just plain vanilla ice cream. That being said, they do have a good selection of toppings. The ice cream itself is a little pricey. The location is nice, a good stop for walking around. This place would be part of a nice day out, but definitely not a destination I would go out of my way for. read more

My friends and I wanted ice cream, and we went here purely on the name... It sounds fun, and it's ice cream, so it had to be good right? Meh, it's pretty average ice cream. It's also very very expensive, with very limited seating area. By limited, I mean three tables. I've been coming to sunny days for about 15 years first in Fairfield and in Westport since it opened Other than on a busy day (or the occasional obviously frustrated employee) this place has been great. There are a few other ice cream places around and I put this one at the top. I don't care for the store where they do all the "mix it in" and it is definitely better than the placeand it is definitely better than the place in East Norwalk. I can always count on the ice cream and toppings being high quality and my order being done correctly. They always get it right and never have an attitude about it. The only time I have ever seen anything close to a bad attitude here is when they have been provoked by one of the piss-ant Westporters that come in (I grew up in this town and it's ridiculous how rude - and pathetic - some of the new people are and how some of their kids are). Worst experience at ice cream store ever. Place is set up like Cold Stone Creamery with a big slab to mix in all these different toppings and a selection of flavors. But no guidance whatsoever from employees. We asked for a small and my daughter chose a flavor and topping to mix in, but they just sprinkled the topping on top of the scoop of ice cream. After I asked about mixing it in the employee said they could only do that with soft serve, and it was too late to switch. We got up to the register and I showed her a coupon my daughter had earned from the library for a small ice cream. She said we didn't get the right ice cream for that, so I asked if we could switch. She went in the back to ask someone and then said no. I asked if she could just deduct from the $7.40 total (which was outrageous for the little scoop w/sprinkled topping). She went in the back and came back to say no. So we just left the ice cream and the coupon to patronize a more friendly, customer service ice cream shop like Top This, Sweet Frog and Saugatuck Sweets--all literally five minutes away. I had heard stories from others about people in the shop being nasty to families trying to park in their lot to watch fireworks, getting ice cream afterwards- threatening to tow cars away even though it never seems crowded, but I figured we would see for ourselves. Today I went and got a hurricane from Sunny days in Westport. Unfortunately, I am not happy with my experience. The blonde girl was very cold and made the worst hurricane I've ever had in my entire life. I was basically given a cup of vanilla ice cream with VERY LITTLE Reese's in and they were hardly even mixed into it!! Such a poor experience. read more

Good ice cream on a hot day, but very unorganized! No line control (blocking the only exit without an employee saying anything to move the line over) their freezer with their ice cream cakes was almost empty (looked so sad) and the order taking line was chaotic. Here is a crazy suggestion, have dedicated scooper and then a cashier! Instead of making people wait in line, make their order, have them wait at the register and then cash them out and then back to scooping again. That was a bit of a sanitation no no to me. Handeling money and people's ice cream just doesn't settle well with me. I saw no hand washing in between orders too. This is a bad formula of mixing dirty hands with food, not a good combination. Also, I suggest choosing ice cream or gelato, not both. I saw NOBODY order the sad looking gelato, and I'm guessing if you did want it you'd have to wait in the long line to get your gelato. My ice cream was yummy,but over priced. I ordered a small cappuccino crunch. It was good, but a little on the icy side. We sat outside due to the inside being so crowded. The table we say at was wobbly and a bit sticky. Also, another suggestion is to have more than two trash cans (one inside and one outside) for all your customers. Also, having someone empty the trash and wipe down the sticky tables would also help this place out. I was visiting someone down in the area, so I probably won't be back any time soon. read more

it was more than 45 minutes to closing and they cleaned their soft serve machine and it wasn't even closing time and i couldn't get a hurricane and they just stared at me and didn't do anything and they didn't even ask if i wanted anything else. that is not my problem you shouldn't clean your soft serve machines over 45 minutes before closing. i'm very disappointed and i will never be going back again. read more
