Pro tip for anyone trying to avoid the absolute chaos of the main lot: pull in using the George Ave entrance and park over there. It's a total game-changer for getting in and out fast. Most people know this place because it was on Ripley's Believe it or Not! back in the day for being the world's largest dairy store, but it's honestly just an institution. Right when you walk in, you see that huge stone tablet with their customer service rules--basically saying the customer is always right, and if they're wrong, re-read rule number one. Supposedly the founder, Stew Sr., put it up after arguing with a lady over some sour eggnog decades ago until his wife checked him. It definitely stuck, because in two decades of shopping here, I have literally never had a bad customer experience. The staff is always so solid. They have everything--a great bakery (the Apple Cider Donuts are legendary), a massive seafood section with fresh lobster rolls daily, a killer meat department where I usually grab lamb steaks, and a seasonal garden center and "Little Farm" with goats and ducks that the kids love. They even have a food truck outside now. But if I'm being completely real? Half the time I roll up here, I am solely there for one thing: the hot bar. They have the absolute best wings around, specifically the Spicy Italian ones. I will literally drive over just to grab a container of those wings for lunch. A few quick heads-up things: download their app before you go because the loyalty program rewards actually add up pretty quick, and definitely remember to bring your own bags. Oh, and grab a soft serve on your way out. Essential Norwalk experience.

This Norwalk location is the OG with innovative ideas like placing bakery near beginning of maze path to increase food purchases and showing the bottling of milk....both these have evolved from their beginnings (less emphasis now)...and of course the mini farm animal area...

Ladies and gentleman, don't walk, RUN, to Mr. Frosty's! Even after all these years being their…read morecustomers, these guys are still one of Connecticut's best ice cream joints period! Don't mind the long lines, crowds of people, or the 500,000 vehicles eating, sleeping, and roaming these roads of East Norwalk. Trust me, this place is worth all the traffic! I've been coming here almost every summer since I found this place back in 2015. There's usually several people already in line by the time I arrive, but it's never a long wait. It gives me just enough time to decide what ice cream I want to try, what toppings I want, and how I want to pay for my ice cream. I've always been more of a sundae guy because that means I have a far less chance of my ice cream spilling, and so that's basically always what I get here. Today's sundae was a large Chocaholic with peanuts, cheesecake bites, whipped cream, hot fudge, and cherries. Yeah people, I am a chocolate lover. Don't like it? Deal with it! And as always, my ice cream was top-notch delicious! What truly makes these experiences magical is the location. Yes, I know it's not directly next to the water, but this leads into one of my favorite Connecticut summer pass times ever! To optimize my experience, I would carry my ice cream over to the Overton's dock, sit on a bench that's right at the end of the dock, face the water, and enjoy away on a nice summer day. I love to feel the sea breeze caress my skin as I look over the harbor, ice cream in hand. I love to imagine myself riding on a boat, or maybe sit at the edge of a pier, feet dangling just mere inches over the water as I enjoy my summer treat. It's always a soothing sensation, and I only need to walk a very short distance to make it happen. Mr. Frosty's, I love you so!

Decent ordering system- order at the window, pay & then wait for your name to be called. There is a small seating area that was just disgustingly crowded and so many young teens perfumes and sprays permitted the outdoor air. I think it's more like a waiting area vs an area to eat your icecream- at least during peak times.

I had read some suspiciously positive reviews about Dairy King on Yelp, and ordered a cheeseburger and fries. I get that generations of Norwalkers and others have fond memories of their time here, and it was with that fact in mind that I ignored my intuition and entered the outdated, near-empty facade just after noon. For the new and unititiated, a word of admonition: do not let your senses fool you. Dairy King looks like a dive, and tastes like a dive, and not in any delicious way. I get that going pretty much anywhere for ice cream on a hot summer day is fun. What I do not get are comments here asserting that Dairy King's food, particularly their burgers are anything more than mediocre, studiously average at best, and a dubious step up over major chains. To all who will, in the the romantic twilight after Little League games or movies, arrive at Dairy King hungry and ready and willing to scarf down just about anything, I hope for your sake that good experiences continue, that fine memories of family and friends are created and then savored in the hopefully delicious silence of your unfolding life. But for me Dairy King is far behind even the middle of the pack in it's chosen catagory, my days of eating "just about anything" are well behind me, and Dairy King will have to take it the rest of the way without me, at least until the day the real estate developers lean on City Hall to condemn that section of Main Avenue (under a phonied-up interpretation of the eminent domain statutes) and Dairy King inevitably (and blessedly) falls to the wrecking ball, destined to become mixed-use retail with residential up above.
