Old fashioned ice cream shop! Cirrus was ridiculously friendly! Paid $9 in change for a large milkshake but it's worth it. Freshly made not from mix. Not only that, when I asked if you could make a milkshake out of any ice cream flavor. He said anything is possible! Not only did he make a large milkshake he topped it with a full scoop of the ice cream, in my case strawberry cheesecake. I've never seen an ice cream place. Entree through the front door and order at the counter! They have over 24 flavors of soft serve, YES 24, some interesting flavors included, creme de menthe, apricot, blackberry, rum etc! I ordered a blackberry in one of their hand made waffle cones, my father ordered one in a regular cone. The man behind the counter was super friendly and said he was going to try to stay open as long as possible depending on the incoming weather during the upcoming season. There were also a bunch of hard ice cream flavors you could choose from. Total came out to approx $8 and I paid with Visa (5$ card min) plastic was put up separating the customer and the employer due to covid as well as wall in one way out the other! Uncle Al's is located in Monroe. They are where the old Mike's was. And they are not bad. I've been in a few times. The ice cream is pretty good. It does not seem as busy as Mike's was but maybe people don't yet know they are there. It seems nice and has pretty much the same type of layout. And it beats Dairy Queen.The thing is I have been getting into creameries in a big way. So I have been drawn to places like Plasco and Ferris Acres. But there is not anything wrong with Al's. They seem to always be opened and they have a variety of flavors. The ice cream itself is tasty.They have Brownies to but they are the kind that are store bought already packaged, not homemade or anything which was a let down. Since Plasco does offer more variety in terms of other products (donuts, Brownies etc) I prefer them but that being said, Al's is centrally located in Monroe and their location is irresistable. Parking is fairly easy here as well. It's also good to see another ice cream place in Monroe. read more

Let's see Dr. mikes changed hands and now to uncle Al's ice cream. They have 24 soft serve flavors and maybe 16-20 hard ice cream flavors. They toppings are a bizarre 79 cents each (random and high), seems like random amounts for simple sprinkles. I came here ordered 2 ice creams, they did not ask the size of the cup, they just gave me a random size. Next time you should ask. Customer service, is lacking in this place. There were two girls in blue shirts and a guy who did not say anything. The placement of the equipment is very disorganized and seems like their are a lot of wasted space in this shop. As you can see from the photos their is a whole area that is devoted to candy and not being utilized. They had no sundaes available but they had them on display, not sure why you would put them out if they are not for order. They have a candy display on the side and it's 2.49$ for 1/4 a pound kind of pricy, cheaper to just go to the grocery store. I'm pretty sure you can go across the street to rite aid and find cheaper candy prices. read more

Cute ice cream place that boasts 27 soft serve flavors beware it's vanilla that they mix a few squirts of flavoring in to accommodate your choice. That being said the "hard" ice cream is good and they offer different types of cones and sundaes. Parking lot can be a bit tight on a pretty night. They also had two flavors of Italian ice for the dairy free folks and a very small candy bar that was pretty over priced. Only two people working makes for very slow lines. They do take credit card and the staff was very friendly once they got to you There is seating inside and out There was a question about bringing dogs and I can say there was zero sign that said "no dogs " so I guess you could try to bring your dog. read more

The ice cream is not bad - it's not fresh/locally made, but it's fine. However this is kind of a strange place, the layout feels very haphazardly put together, with lots of wasted space. Theres an entire space with no seating or anything, just where they store stuff. There is no fun decor or theme like you normally see in an ice cream spot and it isn't particularly clean; banners hang from the columns outside that are all ripped and tattered. I'm sure they do an okay business because of the location, and everyone knows Dr.Mikes was here.. otherwise I'm not sure how they would stay in business. I was so happy that the mask restrictions were lifted today. That being said I stopped by Uncle Al's ice cream shop on Main St in Monroe to get a treat. When I entered I observed 2 employees in the back of the store without masks. I was the only customer in the store. They also had a plexi glass partition at the register. When the owner saw me he immediately told me to put a mask on. I asked why because I am vaccinated and the restriction was lifted. He said it is good to wear a mask. Then he asked me what I wanted I replied "No Thank You" and left. Also his prices were ridiculous. $9.50 for a hot fudge sundae. I do realize businesses have the right to require masks just like I have a right not to do business with these establishments. read more

I want to give a shout out to the new owner of Uncle Al's ice cream. My son and I stopped on a whim today, and we love each of the flavors we chose. Even though we went in with a gift certificate, the owner never stopped smiling and providing excellent customer service. He even came out to welcome and play with our puppy on the front steps afterward. Across-the-board, it was a great experience and one that I look forward to repeating. Didn't get to try anything. i ordered a small sugar free hard ice cream. It rang up as a dollar more than posted. When questioned, i was told that suger free ice cream costs the same as their more expensive frozen yogurt. Sorry Uncle Al, i dont need to pay over $4.00 for a small cup of ice cream. read more
