Where else can you stroll the aisles with a free coffee in hand, pretending you came in for "just one thing," while slowly filling your cart with items you didn't know existed but now absolutely need. And the rotisserie chicken might be the best financial decision in the whole store. Somehow it's the one thing that feels like a bargain while everything else gently reminds you that quality comes at a price. In the end you walk out with great groceries, a lighter wallet, and the comforting feeling that at least you did it with a cup of free coffee in your hand. Honestly, worth it.

I have been waiting for a reason to try out the service and food at Chip City. Their web site didn't say they had Crookie items here so I shrieked with excitement. The person behind the counter seemed shocked that I didn't know. It made my day to get an original croissant chocolate chip cookie. Served warm. Heaven!!! The strawberry pop tart cookie is frosted in store when you order and the mini pop tarts also added. I didn't know this process either. It added to the fun atmosphere to watch our order be put together.

Parking in the public lot is easy enough to find, though it definitely gets a little tight navigating in and out during rush hours. The shop itself is super bright and clean, and the outdoor courtyard seating is great when the weather is nice. The staff working was incredibly friendly and patient. I ordered three scoops of their vegan ice cream on a vegan sugar cone. The team member was so careful stacking each scoop to make sure the whole tower wouldn't topple over--I managed to snap a quick photo of the masterpiece (see photo!), but sure enough, I didn't get very far before gravity won and the whole thing came tumbling down. Without missing a beat, the staff member immediately made me a fresh one and kindly packed it into a cup this time around. Super helpful and genuinely great customer service. The ice cream was delicious, as always. Definitely hitting this spot again--though probably only after a heavy workout to balance it out!

There was less chicken than I was expecting, but they did a good job adding an assortment of veggies. The thing I'm most disappointed about is the lack of sauce! Savory crepes are offered Breton style using buckwheat flour. These galettes bretonnes are light and crispy with an earthly toasted flavor, the ideal counterpoint to the fillings that accompany them such as hearty European cheeses, charcuterie, tangy pickles or spicy arugula leaves. Among them, galettes Choupette (fig, arugula, prosciutto, goat cheese), Ractiflette (potato, watercress, Raclette cheese, charcuterie) and Complète Jambon (Gruyère, organic egg, country ham) are super delish and totally worth a try. Sweet crepes, made with whole wheat flour, are the soft fluffy crepes we are more familiar with around here. Personal favorites include the Traditionnelle (butter, sugar), Hugette (pear, dark chocolate, almonds) and the Amour et jalousie (Nutella, banana, strawberry). Lots of beverage options here! The coffee is great, as are their ciders and their freshly squeezed (orange or grapefruit) juices.
