Food is delicious and fresh! Customer service was excellent! Definitely found my new favorite spot!!

I came here on a lark one afternoon hoping to avoid the bored-as-shit, laconic-looking staff napping over at the Dry Dock Cafe up the street as well as to avoid kicking out a senseless gratuity to an ungrateful, unhelpful waitresses. I had read some suspiciously positive reviews about Dairy King on Yelp, and ordered a cheeseburger and fries. I get that generations of Norwalkers and others have fond memories of their time here, and it was with that fact in mind that I ignored my intuition and entered the outdated, near-empty facade just after noon. For the new and unititiated, a word of admonition: do not let your senses fool you. Dairy King looks like a dive, and tastes like a dive, and not in any delicious way. I get that going pretty much anywhere for ice cream on a hot summer day is fun. What I do not get are comments here asserting that Dairy King's food, particularly their burgers are anything more than mediocre, studiously average at best, and a dubious step up over major chains. To all who will, in the the romantic twilight after Little League games or movies, arrive at Dairy King hungry and ready and willing to scarf down just about anything, I hope for your sake that good experiences continue, that fine memories of family and friends are created and then savored in the hopefully delicious silence of your unfolding life. But for me Dairy King is far behind even the middle of the pack in it's chosen catagory, my days of eating "just about anything" are well behind me, and Dairy King will have to take it the rest of the way without me, at least until the day the real estate developers lean on City Hall to condemn that section of Main Avenue (under a phonied-up interpretation of the eminent domain statutes) and Dairy King inevitably (and blessedly) falls to the wrecking ball, destined to become mixed-use retail with residential up above. read more

i used to come here all the time as a kid but i hadn't been in years and i was SO glad i came back today this place is so great! the food is super tasty - i ordered a beef gyro for lunch which was flavored so well and the portion size was great. afterwards i had the best flurry i have ever had in my life - i loved how they didn't skimp on the toppings as places usually do and there were some in every bite. definitely VERY worth it. with great food for great prices, you can't go wrong here - seriously! and with that, the service is amazing! the woman at the front (i regret not getting her name) was so so sweet, patient, and helpful and the food came out quickly even with a larger order. i love this place, it's so cute and homey and clean. will definitely be a summer staple while i'm home read more

I was skeptical of how the place look but I took a chance. I also noticed that people was in there eating. I noticed another customer hotdog was looking pretty good. If you're ever in the Norwalk area I encourage you to try Dairy King, that's right not to be confused with Dairy Queen. This family owned business is amazing. It is a staple in the Norwalk community and has been servicing its residence for of 50 years. The food is consistent and the ice cream is a must have. Growing up in the Norwalk area this is not a secret and by now I have tried almost everything on the menu. On a hot day a ice cream cone or cup will satisfy your need and of you want something less messy you can go for a milkshake. One of my favorite things are the waffles fries as they are the same every time I've enjoyed them which Is crispy and fresh. read more

We used to come here when we were kids and now we bring the kids. The food is GREAT and the service is better, they treat everyone like family. Gyros and chicken sandwiches are our go-to. How does this place have a nearly 5 star rating? My fish sandwich was a huge disappointment. It was basically a Gorton's frozen fish patty. Frozen food is all that they offered. The dated decor is fine, but clean up once in a while. Especially the floor. My son and I were ice skating to our table. The waffle fries seemed to be the only food that was made in house, but I am probably wrong. The turnaround was way too fast for my liking. The ice cream was very bland. How is that possible? The cashier was cordial, but not personable. All she wanted was our order, and have us move on. She and the other two workers there were speaking very rudely about some of the other customers that were there in Greek. I made as if I did not understand what they said, but it I should have. Change your decor, serve freshly made food with fresh ingredients, regularly clean up, and your attitude and maybe I will go back. A huge disappointment. read more

Let me say that we were STARVING & it was late, everything was closing, as we were coming back from a local event. So we walked in place didn't look too bad, old & outdated YES! Place staffed by owners it looked like..maybe ready to retire after Many yrs of being here! & I say that for a reason. We're looking at menu ..never been here before. .so we're trying to decide. Woman is anxious to get our order, so we place our order. Food comes out quickly. .glad! But the customer service. .we felt VERY rushed despite we were only ppl in there..I'm thinking did we catch them as they were closing??? Nope a few more ppl came in after us..we saw as we watched from our car eating our food. Food: was barely edible..would NOT go here again, it was like they slapped it together..which they did..considering turn around time, Order was WRONG, service was rude. Place could definitely use an update fresh paint & bathrooms a serious scrubbing. .I seriously hope they have separate bathroom for employees who need to wash their hands before touching food!! The ice cream's good, burgers are decent if you're hungover, fries not that good, onion rings okay and chicken nuggets are something we'll be staying away from in the future. The service is always friendly and prompt. Everything is made to order while you wait. The style of the decoration and furniture is pretty old, but the treats are good. They are a hard working couple, and it has the feel (because it is) an old fashioned ice cream parlor. I highly recommend Dairy King to anyone looking for amazing, quick, fresh made anytime food. The owners are amazing and the welcoming mom and pop you are looking for in this kind of environment.
