Is this the 1970s! They use the thickest styrofoam containers I've ever seen. Even if you order a waffle cone, they put it in a giant foam cup and stuff it in so you can't eat the cone. Styrofoam is horrible for the environment and literally never disappears. I received no joy eating ice cream here. read more

I just stopped by for an ice cream cone and as the young lady began making my cone, I noticed she wasn't wearing any gloves. She did not wash her hands, and there was no paper wrapped around the cone itself. I asked her if she could please wear a glove. She seemed frustrated by it and asked if it was a problem. I said yes, she said "sorry, we don't have any gloves". But she wasn't sorry... and as I left I heard her talking about me to the only other worker there. I was disappointed they didn't have more flavors to choose from. I think they had about 10 of them and 3 of the 10 had Oreo cookies in it. This neighborhood spot is cash only. Which in my opinion is really outdated. A majority of folks just don't carry cash on them as they use cards for everything. This place looks pretty run down, but they have delicious homemade ice cream and waffle cones. I got a chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone and the quality of both the cone and the ice cream were fantastic. My only complaints were that I wish their were some more chips in the chocolate chip and that the waffle cone was pretty brittle, however they did serve the cone inside of a large cup (like a drinking cup) along with a spoon, so that I could scoop up the ice cream and eat it in case the cone broke. My Vanilla and Chocolate mixture did not stand out with each bite and I swirled it around on my tongue for awhile in hopes to capture that rapture but nothing. Was passing through CT on the way home to Jersey when I decided to ditch the traffic on 95 around Bridgeport. This by far was one of the better decisions I made this century. Timothy's doesn't look like much from the outside or the inside for that matter, but like my mama said, "Never judge a book by its cover." Went for the Black Rock ice cream which was french vanilla ice cream with chocolate covered almonds with a caramel drizzle. I wouldn't go so far to say that this place was dirty, but it definitely wasn't the cleanest of places. I attribute that to the fact that the place is old and wants to keep a classic feel, however, there a million and one ways to keep it classic while still presenting a clean atmosphere. I was disappointed at Timothy's on Sunday. They had been open for an hour but the hot fudge wasn't ready. The caramel syrup had to be put in the microwave. No waffle cones because they ran out on Saturday night and hadn't made any yet on Sunday.
