This place rules. Great food, great service, great vibes. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Bar is super cool.

Driving by this restaurant with it's "modern" and minimalist exterior you probably wouldn't immediately identify it as a Japanese restaurant. They have an appropriately sized parking lot with a backdoor entrance that makes entering convenient. In terms of seating beyond the bar and booth interior they also have a decently sized covered/enclosed patio for the nicer days. I started with a couple of their appetizers like the shishito peppers and duck bao buns. The peppers were served in a yuzu like sauce and were ok but not necessarily something I would go out of my way ordering. The bao buns with their diced duck had an excellent sauce and were well worth it. When it came to my main, I had the inferno ramen which contrary to the name was probably a 4/10 on the spice level and was served with a side of chilli oil if you wanted to up the spice level yourself. Poached egg was nice touch in the ramen and the broth was flavorful. Overall well worth the visit. read more

This was our first visit here on a Sunday evening and we were excited to try. The place was relatively empty when we arrived but a few people trickled in while we were there. We started with the pan fried dumplings and the duck bao buns, both very good. Then we had a California roll and the fried noodles dish with chicken. The noodle dish lacked flavor and it would've been nice to see a few more veggies in the dish. It was a large portion. The service was friendly and attentive. There is a wrap around bar, tables and booths for the inside dining experience, and there is outdoor seating as well. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. Private spacious parking lot behind the restaurant. Prices a tad on the higher end. All in all it was a fine experience, but nothing from the food to menu options to the decor wowed us enough to want to return. read more

First time here, and definitely not the last! I am so glad another restaurant took over this space. We came here with group of 9 (made a reservation ahead of time). Fingers crossed they last here as it was an AMAZING meal. We were able to get seats at the bar and were greeted right away by Jenny. Really decent draft selection with Asahi and Sapporo draft both available. I intended to just try the ramen, but we stuck up conversations with others at the bar and started to order with my eyes. After driving by this place often and watching them prep for opening, I was excited to finally give it a try. The food was good and service was very fast. I see that it will be very popular as more people hear about it. They have a cool fun theme going with the decorations as it fully puts you in the mood for some ramen. I loved the shrimp shumai that comes lollipop style, the gyoza, and the shrimp tempura roll was really good. The main event was the Ramen and the waitress was kind enough to help me decide what kind I might like to order and I made the right choice. It was delicious. Ordered the omurice and had to wait quite awhile for it to arrive. The egg on top was well done??? Guess whoever cooked it doesn't know this dish as it should've been a runny omelet. This was a lovely experience. Came here on a Thursday with my wife for dinner. Clean, spacious and nicely decorated interior. We were greeted warmly and had fast and attentive service throughout. I've gotten asked why I haven't done reviews in a while. As you know, life gets in the way. Plus, I was on a months long streak of terrible food, and I figured why give bad reviews anymore. It's not very nice. But then today I guess the mean side awakens. Because I am fed up with paying a lot and getting inedible food! The ramen looked great when it came out, but was so salty it was inedible. The noodles too mushy. The pork was either all fat or too tough to eat. The General Tso's chicken was very tough and the goopy sauce had the worst flavor I've ever tasted in an Asian dish. None of us could eat it. Plus it was expensive. Really I should have complained but we all just wanted to get out of there and woke up the next morning with painful puffy eyes from all the extra salt in that ramen! To end on a high note, I heard the Japanese beer was good. read more

We have been waiting for this place to open. We drove by Saturday and saw people dining so we immediately turned the car around and ran inside. We usually wait for the restaurant to get the kinks out before we dine but there were no kinks! We were greeted by multiple people, food came out quickly, and service was top notch! This is hands down the best ramen in the area. Sushi was so fresh and duck bao was chef's kiss. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and everyone is so friendly. Hands down the best Japanese restaurant we've been to recently! For them being so new, we were impressed that they seem to have no kinks to work out. Menu items that we were really impressed to see were the tuna wasabi dumplings and dragon balls, which my husband loved for a better fish to rice ratio. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the server was kind and attentive. Beautiful and clean inside, and they even had a covered patio. We will absolutely be back! read more

I really enjoyed the Sushi/Sashimi combo which i had last night, the Sashimi was some of the best i've had in Fairfield Cty. Service was great, but i was one of just five others there in the entire restaurant, which has become a sad trend for this location in recent years. Ambience was fine and lack of other patrons does not itself justify a poor Ambience rating. The one and only criticism i would raise would be the background music choice which i felt was out of sorts with the restaurant and the vibe they're trying to create. I just came back from Roppongi Hills in Tokyo last month and hope Roppongi survives! Overall, 素晴らしい食事 and よくやった. I'll be back! Well done read more

We have be frequent at this restaurant since it opened. But to our surprise last week, they took the signature entree off the menu. The Ramen Bowl was the best dish on the menu. They replaced it with kitchen hibachi. At least five patrons we spoke to specifically came for the Ramen Bowl. Two of which left when the found out there was no ramen. Saw the few rave reviews for this new place which has only been open for a few weeks and wanted to see if this could be our new go to for Japanese. We really liked the place, bright, interesting decorations, big rectangular bar which looked good for eating and drinking so we were hoping the food would be just as good. To be fair, it was only 2 of us so we didn't try too many things on the menu. First up was the tuna wasabi dumpling which were basically two small tuna wrapped mashed avocado mounds. This was served without any side of wasabi or ginger so we asked for that when we tasted it and could not sense any wasabi in the dumplings. Had to ask twice before the wasabi and ginger came. Tried the sushi dragon balls. It was pretty but looking closer at the 9 small dishes, two are just for wasabi and ginger so you are really getting 7 little balls of rice with a but of fish wrapped around them (1 may have just been avocado and no fish). For $21, that might have been okay for a light appetite but we kinda looked at each other and decided we'd probably have to go home and have a pack of instant noodles or something to top up the meal. Best thing we had was the sashimi platter. $36 for 15 pieces. Nicely presented and fair amount of sashimi. Shared one cocktail. With tax and tip our total came to $100. Not the most expensive meal we've ever had but considering we both wanted more food when we got home it was a bit pricey in my opinion. Maybe the rolls would have been more filling and better value but we didn't order any. Will give this place another shot at some point. Conveniently to our home, nice space. Not our new go to just yet but maybe we didn't order the right things. read more

Fantastic food, great happy hour, and really nice staff. Definitely a hidden gem in Fairfield.

We had dinner last night at Roppongi, the restaurant that recently re-opened. We had gone there in the past and really liked it, but I have to say the food was generally not tasty at all and over-priced. We tried a number of different dishes and were not happy with the results. It could be that since they're new the kitchen is still getting it's act together but we will not return anytime soon read more

Love the variety of stuff on their menu and the way they present their food. I personally like their sushi dishes, better than most sushi restaurants within ten miles of Black Rock. Try the Tom Yam soup and be pleasantly surprised. read more

Mixed experience here...I enjoyed the appetizers and the bento box but prefer a different style of sushi. The eel and yellowtail rolls were skimpy and not high quality fish. Spicy sushi makes me feel the fish lacks freshness...and The rolls are overly fancy/sauced and I won't be going back for sushi. read more

The ramen here was very good. The real standout, though, was the Peking duck bao absolutely amazing! The duck was tender and savory, with the perfect balance of flavors. Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious Peking Duck Bao and ramen. read more

Throughout my life i was lead to believe that a restaurant had a kitchen that made the food this was not the case here. I ordered steamed mussels which when i got them had a lot of broken or unopened shells. Not good. Told the waitress and her answer was that the was they came in a bag. The next thing a ordered and received was pork belly which seam to be steamed , not the way it should be prepared. I received my dessert which was supposed to be Japanese ice cream in a dough which came frozen which looked it was pur chased at costco or trader Joes and was still frozen with 3 mandarin orange slices out of a can with a maraschino cherry on top.
