First of all we had great service last night from Jada in the Fairfield location and we all know how important good service is..because we already know their food is great! First of all the red oil dumplings is a new dish and it is incredible. That oil is something special and the dumplings best I've ever had. We ordered the addictive green beans this time so much garlic and cooked perfectly. They were great. We also had their version of street corn ..soo good! I could go on telling you about the good food, but you just need to get there yourself and order a bunch of stuff you will not be disappointed! This was my first in person visit to the Mecha location in Fairfield, but have been to the Stamford location and LOVE the red oil dumplings. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon in search of nourishment. I ordered a non alcohol cocktail which was not only beautifully presented, but tasted refreshing and delicious. I also had the spicy miso which hit all the spots: warm, flavorful, fresh, and so nourishing and comforting. I consumed all of the broth and was able to get additinal broth to take home with my leftovers for $7. Service was so friendly and accomodating...so great to have such a level of attentiveness and genuine good service. Excellent staff. The entire place, including the restroom was super clean. It was a bit too warm on my vist (but super hot outside), but that aside all else was super. Plenty of parking and also outdoor seating. I will be back for sure! read more

This is the closest Mecha Noodle Bar location to my home. I've dined in before and had really good service, but this time I was alone and ordered my usual pho ga, adding greens to-go. As usual, the pho tasted clean, fresh, and comforting, definitely one of those meals that just feels good to eat. That said, it is a bit more pricey compared to other local pho spots. I also decided to try a few extras this time. I got the Temple of the Sun boba, which is African nectar tea, pineapple, and passion fruit, it was good. I picked up a jar of their signature Szechuan style chili oil, Mecha Red Oil Sauce to add a kick to dishes at home. For dessert, I grabbed Bonnie's Banana Pudding with ube, vanilla pudding, banana chips, and vanilla wafers. It was my first time trying ube banana pudding, and it did not disappoint a flavorful fun twist on a classic. Tried the tonkotsu ramen at Mecha Noodle Bar and it absolutely delivered. The broth was rich, creamy, and deeply flavorful -- exactly what you want from a proper tonkotsu. The noodles had that perfect springy chew, and the toppings (chashu pork, egg, scallions, etc.) were fresh and well-portioned. This is the TGI Fridays of noodle bars. If that's your vibe and you're out drinking with friends, you'll probably have fun. The decor is playful, the staff is upbeat and attentive. So far, so good. But the food stumbles hard. The steamed baos had the texture of limp hot dogs. The firecracker wings had zero fire. And the biggest letdown was the tonkotsu. The much-hyped "Hakata-style 24-hour pork broth" seriously underdelivered, nowhere near the depth or richness of Hokkaido Ramen in Boston or Ippudo in New York. Driving northbound on I-95 in a dispiriting rain, it was time for a lunch stop and a break, so we googled noodle soup places and came across this Mecha branch in Fairfield which wasn't far off the highway. It was part of a shopping and biz area and we stepped into a welcoming and sprightly dining area with an open kitchen on one side and an open bar on the other. Both ramen and pho are available and although initially dubious about whether either would be done well enough, we were happily surprised that they did indeed do both quite well. I splurged on their pho bo which had chunks of beef brisket, slices of beef round, and a whopping broiled marrow bone. The broth was excellent. (I would say it was a "pho-king" good bowl ...). My wife had their vegetarian ramen and she said it was the best veggie ramen she has ever had, with a truly deep and savory mushroom "dashi" broth, slices of fresh shiitake and beech mushrooms, and drizzled with a shiitake oil. There were also lots of small and appetizer dishes on the menu and I regretted not trying them - but next time we will! read more

It's about time I gave Mecha a more proper review! Since my college days, Mecha has been one of my all-time favorite spots in CT. You really can't go wrong with any of their menu items. I recently stopped in to try some of their new dishes which I was very impressed by! Creative choices like the Japanese curry poutine and curry latksa were great, and I liked the new super pho sizzle with the beef on the side more than their typical phos. Without getting cooked more in the broth, the beef stayed rare and was flavorful with the chimichurri on top. Their spicy tan tan seasonal special is always a must for me - I don't usually like spicy food but I'm always addicted to this one! Food always arrives to the table in a timely manner. They have a good system here! In my opinion, Fairfield is the best of the Mecha locations. read more

Super cute noodle bar. Fast paced environment with fun music and anime cartoons on the television. The menu includes 4-5 different types of phone and 4-5 types of ramen along with add ins for your soup, amazing bar list menu and hot and appetizers or other menu items should you decide soup isn't in the cards for you. My son had the classic beef pho and loved it. The broth was super flavorful and the noodles gave it a nice taste. The portion was huge for him. I had the flank steak pho with extra greens which was amazing. I added hot sauce and all the bean sprouts and herbs that come along with it and it topped it off wonderfully. We love Mecha. This was the first time we've stopped at the Fairfield location and we were impressed. Pushed back off the road in a plaza allowed us to sit outside peacefully. They have a great amount of space for outdoor eating and a good sized indoors. The staff was so quick and helpful. We never wanted for long. The food was solid as always. The real star in my book would be the red oil dumplings. I love a good dumpling and this one is consistently great. Decibel volumes more than I can handle, crowded tables (with the guy next to me coughing and the child crying, etc) making me feel claustrophobic in a human Petri dish. And that blasting Rap Music made it hard to hear, although I could make out the lyrics...every other word of this so-called music was f*cking this and N-word that. So offensive and irresponsible especially with all those children present in the restaurant. I couldn't wait to finish my soup and get out of there! A word to management: some people find your choices offensive - reconsider your choice of music, and shame on you. Lastly, this is supposed to be a Japanese / Asian restaurant. Definitely do not come here for authentic pho. Broth is week, they serve huge chunks of meat in the soup vs the thinly sliced traditional version (like so big you need a knife to cut) and their onions are also huge slices that don't cook down in the broth. They need to hire someone who knows how to make pho or at least better understand how it should be served. read more

Wow, this is seriously delicious ramen and Asian food. We stopped in on a week night in time for their happy hour and ordered too many bao buns, ramen and dumplings. First the bao buns. The Korean fried chicken buns were juicy and flavorful, and the pork belly buns were just as tasty. The mushroom dumplings were earthy and creamy, just a perfect compliment to the meal. And finally the spicy beef ramen, wow. I added corn to mine and it was very tasty. The interior is trendy -- the music is a little loud for my liking but not too bad overall. The service was great too - very friendly and willing to talk you through the menu. I can't recommend trying Mecha enough. We'll definitely be back! read more

Ah so when I finally got COVID after avoiding it for 2.5 years the first thing I thought of getting was some good ole pho from Mecha. I've been to this location many times over the years but have never gotten take out pho. I placed an order through Ubereats and the pho came out so warm that I didn't need to reheat the broth. Everything came packaged great and nothing spilled. The noodles were fresh and plenty of sprouts and garnishes were included. The instructions on the side of the bowl were so helpful and way to follow. The pho was delicious and hit the spot. So thankful I haven't lost my sense of taste or smell because the pho was amazing and you could smell everything that went into the broth - so much ginger, star anise, and cinnamon. Just perfect. Will definitely order again from here and can't wait to go back once I'm out of quarantine! Some of my favorites here are the mushroom dumplings, kfc baos, and wings! My man bought me here for the first time (while I'm visiting CT) cause I couldn't stop talking about ramen. Upon entrance I was definitely feeling the aesthetic of the restaurant. Me & bae ordered Thai tea with boba, the 5 palm beat thingy drink, the smoke show cocktail, general tso shrimp, chicken ramen, beef ramen, and the firecracker wings. The food in totality was a 7/10. The wings & general tso shrimp was bomb I'd come back specifically for the shrimp. The ramen was a little bland (even with adding siracha & hoisin in to it) The drinks were a 8/10. The 5 palm beat whatchamacallit was refreshing & light and my drink was refreshing with a nice sweet balance. I'd come back here again but get pho instead of ramen next time & 2 orders of general tso shrimp! Also, the manager (I forgot his name) was really awesome & helpfull. Finally got to this noodle bar.. we had two types Of ramen: SHOYU PAITAN - chicken ramen - my wife loved it! SPICY BEEF RAMEN- I loved it .. great flavor, great and many noodles and lean brisket.. yum .. we also started with CRISPY COCONUT SHRIMP BAO- we loved it and it was served on a nice dish, great presentation.. also had a starter of SWEET & SOUR SPARERIBS- you will love these. Great experience BESIDES the blasting music in your ears oh my goshhh my party and I felt like we were at a nightclub and left with headaches; there is absolutely no reason why we should be yelling across the two foot wide table in order to hear each other! Food is great. Management is bad. They were unable to accommodate me on my birthday at this location. I called in the morning asking if they had availability for 8 people and could add me to a waitlist or reservation and they said to call back an hour before I left to have a better idea of whether or not they could accommodate my party. I called back an hour before I left and made my way down, I live an hour and a half away, and when I got there they told me it was a 45 minute wait and I was not on the waitlist even after calling. I ended up calling Norwalk and Stamford locations and was accommodated by the Stamford staff. They even held a table for me for 45 minutes and gave me a free birthday dessert after I shuffled through MORE traffic to get to them. Happy birthday am I right?!? Overall I typically have a good experience here but I was very unimpressed this time and will most likely never eat at this location again, and I recommend the same to anyone I know. First let me say the staff are wonderful. They are always pleasant and helpful. Kind and generous. However every single time we start choosing takeout my son says Mecha and i cringe. There is always a problem trying to order online and the owner refuses to allow phone in orders. I spend 10 minutes with them on the phone trying to troubleshoot the issue. I appreciate that but i work with computers, my car was already charged the $1 test and yet its a billing issue. So i try to go elsewhere when ever possible but i also don't want to let my son down. But really not allowing a phone order is one of the top reasons I don't order out from here. read more

I love the noodles and broth here . Once you finish your noodles and you have soup left the staff will gladly give you more noodles if you like . I normally get seconds so that's how I know . Soups so comforting when it's cold outside . My favorite soup is the spicy miso soup I add the pork to it . Also the red oil dumplings are to die for . This has been on my list for a while. Decided to go on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty busy. I had stood there for a while before someone acknowledged me and even more people came in after me, and the host addressed them first even though I was standing right there. That was my first disappointment. But I'll blame it on confusion due to busyness. The second disappointment was the wait for server to come to the table. Once she did get to me, she was fine and service was fine. I ordered the herbed edamame which was insanely good, must try. Spicy miso ramen I'd give it 7/10, something was missing in the broth - or maybe it was just too thick. Oh and it didn't come with egg, nori, and corn already in the bowl like most other places, at Mecha you have to order it as add-ons (I'd consider this my third disappointment). I ordered some snacks to go which were all delicious (KFC bao, ribs, and red oil dumplings). The real winner for me was the delicious cocktail called "one way ticket." It was so yummy with the nice touch of lavender. As far as ambiance it's like a lunch room communal table vibe. Music was loud but that's part of the vibe here and it works. Overall, not the best first experience but good enough that I'd give it another try and recommend. read more
