Tried the tonkotsu ramen at Mecha Noodle Bar and it absolutely delivered. The broth was rich, creamy, and deeply flavorful -- exactly what you want from a proper tonkotsu. The noodles had that perfect springy chew, and the toppings (chashu pork, egg, scallions, etc.) were fresh and well-portioned. The vibe inside is trendy but relaxed, and the service was friendly and fast. Good option if you are debating between having ramen and pho. The place can be packed and there might be a wait time. Solid choice if you are in the area.

Mecha's pho bo with a big broiled marrow bone

Driving northbound on I-95 in a dispiriting rain, it was time for a lunch stop and a break, so we googled noodle soup places and came across this Mecha branch in Fairfield which wasn't far off the highway. It was part of a shopping and biz area and we stepped into a welcoming and sprightly dining area with an open kitchen on one side and an open bar on the other. Both ramen and pho are available and although initially dubious about whether either would be done well enough, we were happily surprised that they did indeed do both quite well. I splurged on their pho bo which had chunks of beef brisket, slices of beef round, and a whopping broiled marrow bone. The broth was excellent. (I would say it was a "pho-king" good bowl ...). My wife had their vegetarian ramen and she said it was the best veggie ramen she has ever had, with a truly deep and savory mushroom "dashi" broth, slices of fresh shiitake and beech mushrooms, and drizzled with a shiitake oil. There were also lots of small and appetizer dishes on the menu and I regretted not trying them - but next time we will!

Good options between Pho and Ramen. Tried both, and both were perfect. Not the largest selection of beers, is one thing I hope they improve in the future.

It's about time I gave Mecha a more proper review! Since my college days, Mecha has been one of my all-time favorite spots in CT. You really can't go wrong with any of their menu items. I recently stopped in to try some of their new dishes which I was very impressed by! Creative choices like the Japanese curry poutine and curry latksa were great, and I liked the new super pho sizzle with the beef on the side more than their typical phos. Without getting cooked more in the broth, the beef stayed rare and was flavorful with the chimichurri on top. Their spicy tan tan seasonal special is always a must for me - I don't usually like spicy food but I'm always addicted to this one! Food always arrives to the table in a timely manner. They have a good system here! In my opinion, Fairfield is the best of the Mecha locations.

Not a fan of the new menu. Laksa is waaaay off. Needs coconut and red curry. Crab ragoon is a cold dip. Other dishes somehow not as good as they used to be. Disappointed because we used to love coming here. Also "happy hour" portions are very small compared to before and prices up.

Super cute noodle bar. Fast paced environment with fun music and anime cartoons on the television. The menu includes 4-5 different types of phone and 4-5 types of ramen along with add ins for your soup, amazing bar list menu and hot and appetizers or other menu items should you decide soup isn't in the cards for you. My son had the classic beef pho and loved it. The broth was super flavorful and the noodles gave it a nice taste. The portion was huge for him. I had the flank steak pho with extra greens which was amazing. I added hot sauce and all the bean sprouts and herbs that come along with it and it topped it off wonderfully. Service was super attentive and the food came out super quick. It does get crowded and the environment is pretty loud. There is plenty of parking as are located in a shopping center plaza. Love the food and ambiance here. The food is ok the spicy side - but you can ask for no spice. The service is great - especially the Bao!

We love Mecha. This was the first time we've stopped at the Fairfield location and we were impressed. Pushed back off the road in a plaza allowed us to sit outside peacefully. They have a great amount of space for outdoor eating and a good sized indoors. The staff was so quick and helpful. We never wanted for long. The food was solid as always. The real star in my book would be the red oil dumplings. I love a good dumpling and this one is consistently great. The ramen was well balance and perfect for my husband and I to split for a light lunch. We plan to return many times!

Food here is reasonably good and the service is fairly efficient and friendly, although a bit contrived. My issue here is the ambiance. To some people, it is great, but to me it was horrible. Decibel volumes more than I can handle, crowded tables (with the guy next to me coughing and the child crying, etc) making me feel claustrophobic in a human Petri dish. And that blasting Rap Music made it hard to hear, although I could make out the lyrics...every other word of this so-called music was f*cking this and N-word that. So offensive and irresponsible especially with all those children present in the restaurant. I couldn't wait to finish my soup and get out of there! A word to management: some people find your choices offensive - reconsider your choice of music, and shame on you. Lastly, this is supposed to be a Japanese / Asian restaurant. But I didn't see one Asian person there; not in the kitchen, not serving, not waiting tables...nor any patrons...what's with that?

LOVE COMING HERE WHEN IM IN TOWN!!!! A table opened up just as we arrived, love when that happens. The place was packed but the service and speed were great. I had dinner plans in a few hours so I wanted to be a bad girl and have a bite here first heehee! I tried the chili oil dumplings, short rib bokkeum special, and Korean fried chicken bao buns. No complaints! BUT The bokkeum didn't need the pickled ginger, it had plenty of flavors going on. I also wanted to try a house soda--lemon-hibiscus, WOW new fav. It is a bit loud and busy but overall good to eat in, get full, and run out.

Came here for dinner w/ my family. Waitress was really sweet! She gave us superb service as well. I ordered a joto graffiti sake cup for starters for myself. My dinner was the general Tso shrimp. It came w/ sticky white rice, green scallions,& micro greens. The portion was rather small but the waitress warned us. That is why in the menu it's under munchies. I wasn't too hungry so it was ok for me. Food was delicious.Inside it has cool decor. It's all wooden tables, floors. & chairs/benches. The ceiling has wooden chimes hanging down. I would def hit this spot up again. I already been here numerous times. Last time I had pho & it was super delish.

Ask the Community - Mecha Noodle Bar

    Are there gluten free options?

Yes! Let your server know if you have an allergy/intolerance/celiac so we can properly accommodate you. If you are simply avoiding gluten, that is ok too! There are plenty of items and entrees that our gluten-free friends can enjoy.

Is the broth just made from pork? Or are there other options for people who don't eat pork?

There are broths made from pork. However, there is also a chicken broth and a vegetarian ramen which I assume has a vegetable broth.

    Are there vegetarian options?

Vegetarian ramen can be made vegan, just let them know. The noodles have wheat in them.

Ive been there for dinner time as well, it's lively, loud in a good way, and immediately feels like somewhere you could stay for hours. I ordered the miso ramen, and it was honestly one of the most satisfying bowls of ramen I've had in Connecticut. The broth was the star of the dish its deep, rich, savory, and layered with that perfect balance of umami and subtle sweetness from the miso and a bit nitty form the sesame seeds. The noodles had the perfect texture: chewy, springy, and able to hold onto the broth beautifully. Nothing was overcooked or mushy . What impressed me most was how balanced the ramen was. Some ramen spots go overboard with salt or spice, but this bowl felt refined. Rich but not greasy. Flavorful but not overpowering. You could tell there was actual technique behind it. The portion size was also generous enough to leave completely full without feeling uncomfortable afterward. The service matched the food perfectly and so freaking sweet. It's acidic, savory and has the perfect crunch to it. The crab Rangoons are sooo good. They give you plenty of sauce and you can tell it's the good crab. The cold sesame noodles are perfect! A little bit of heat, a bunch of flavor. I'm drooling just thinking about it! The chili dumplings were good but a little too spicy for me! We also really enjoyed the kimchi carbonara and personally, I'm a sucker for udon noodles! And now the star of the show for me and something I've ordered three times now! The crab fried rice! The crab is so tender and buttery, like it actually melts in your mouth. And the pork belly chunks in it, also tender and delicious. I like dream of this dish every week! And the great thing is you can order the half size during dinner so you can try other things too! This spot is in my top 5 for 2026 so far! Please go try them asap!
