This is a fairly new addition to Trumbull, having only been in business for 1 1/4 years. A friend and I decided to give it a shot and it was a very good decision. Ambience is clean and inviting. Waitstaff are kind and diligent. Food was delicious. The miso soup was surprisingly good; usually miso soup from most Asian restaurants tastes the same, but they must have used higher quality ingredients than normal. I wish I got a second cup. Then I tried the tofu teriyaki. Since we got takeout, they put the teriyaki sauce in a separate cup so as not to ruin the crispiness of the fried tofu; I appreciated that. Tofu was firm, crispy and high quality and the teriyaki sauce was nice and savory. They gave me a very generous portion of tofu and included a lot of vegetables. Great food and great value. I'm really glad this place exists; I'm excited to try more items on the menu. I highly recommend that you do the same. read more

I treated my husband to a birthday lunch at Izumi Sushi yesterday, and we had a great experience. We started with a Thai Boba and Taro Milk Tea Boba for drinks, which were yummy. Since we were celebrating a special occasion, we asked if we could order 6 rolls and have them displayed on a boat. It was so nice that the staff accommodated our special request. We ordered 2 Crazy Friday Rolls, 2 Salmon Avocado Rolls, 1 Rainbow Roll, and 1 Monrow Tempice Roll. Everything was fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. Placed a takeout order online here. They had the grand opening a few days ago but seems things are still in transition with handling timing of dine in clients and take out clients. There was a wait almost out the door just took pick up take out orders the space is very small maybe has five or six tables for dine in. The staff seemed overwhelmed and tried to help as best as possible. Parking is tight at it's in a plaza with other restaurants and shops. I had the seaweed salad which was good. Tried the Naruto roll with tuna, salmon and yellow tail and it was very good too. 1 Star - Extremely Disappointed - Not Hibachi At All I was excited to try this new restaurant that advertised itself as Hibachi, especially for their Hibachi Special Lunch with Filet Mignon. What arrived was nothing like Hibachi. The steak and vegetables came swimming in a heavy, overly garlicky sauce with a big portion of plain white rice on the side. There was zero searing on the grill -- no flames, no sizzling, no chef performance, and no authentic Hibachi-style cooking. It was basically stir-fried meat and vegetables in sauce cooked in a back room. The garlic flavor was so overpowering it ruined the dish. I politely sent it back and explained the issue. They brought a replacement with less garlic, but it still tasted awful, remained unsavred, and had no flavor other than that off-putting sauce. There were no traditional Hibachi dipping sauces (mustard, ginger, etc.) offered at all. I expressed how unhappy I was with the misrepresentation, but I was still charged in full. I left most of the food untouched and went somewhere else for lunch. This place is shamefully misrepresenting itself as Hibachi. Save your money and go elsewhere. I will never return. read more

We came in for a dine-in dinner. My first impression was that this place needs to decide who they want to cater to, dine-in or take-out, bcs it was clear they weren't doing well and trying to accommodate both. The take out crowd was left with nowhere to sit and wait, and they had to wait a while, so I watched as several take-out patrons sat at dine-in tables making them unusable to people who actually wanted to dine in. A family came in and clearly wanted to dine-in, they were not acknowledged nor was there anywhere to sit due to the take-out crowding at and around the tables. Our food took a while to get to us, my partner had to slow down as he got all his food and we had to wait a while longer for my roll to come out. I had to ask about it twice, it was taking that long. When the food got to us I thought it was good... but rushed. I get it, they were busy, but my nigiri sushi had very little rice under it (and the rice was done super well so I was wanting to be able to enjoy more of it) and the rolls were kind of sloppy and immediately came apart when using chopsticks. Maybe I was incorrect to hope for more, I will update when I try it again, but I want to give them time to work out the kinks. read more

Went to Izumi for the first time. Great experience! We sat at the sushi bar. All the food was excellent, from the soup to the salad to the sushi. Service was great.
