First, Jasmine and Jeffrey (the owners) are great with guests which explains why they have a loyal following. If you're a late diner, you'll be treated to the sight of Jeffrey stepping out from behind the sushi bar to do sake bombs with some of his regular guests. Courteous and attentive staff. Great specials, creative and well executed sushi rolls (and they don't all taste the same!), good selection of hot or cold sake, beer, wine and mixed drinks. I came with three of my friends one who recommended we eat here before a theatre show. We started off with a few appetizers that we shared then went in for various plates of rolls, sushi and fried rice we all enjoyed our dinners and the service was great. We received the best attention from staff members that kept our water glasses full, empty plates cleared, asked if we wanted cocktails replenished and always polite and smiles. On the busy Post Road in Milford there is a small sushi restaurant with a impressive menu of Japanese entrées, bento boxes, and a huge array of wonderful sushi and sashimi. It is actually located in Turnpike Square next to the Sikorsky credit union. The restaurant is very clean, the service is good, and the sushi is fresh. We ordered the seaweed salad and edamame for appetizers. The vegetable soba and broth was a good size and tasty. The dragon roll was beautifully presented and delicious. We were disappointed with the very small quantity of eel in the roll. Overall, they have a phenomenal lunch menu and while the we were there there was quite a bit of takeout too. read more

First time eating here - The food was fine. The udon was a bit cold when served - would have appreciated if it was hot or warm. The shrimp tempura was crispy to my liking. Sangria (not pictured) was really good and would order again. Our waiter made us a bit anxious coming back and forth every other minute. Couldn't even really look through the menu and decide without feeling pressure to figure out what we wanted. Also had to shoo away small flies flies from around my food. I want to start by saying I am so torn by MoMo. I have read all of the reviews, but the restaurant does not enthuse me as it does other reviewers. I have been to MoMo on multiple occasions and each time have just found it okay. Yesterday, my mom and I were doing some shopping around Milford and decided to give MoMo another try. I started with a peanut avocado roll, which was very tasty. Usually, the roll only comes with peanuts and avocado, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found a small bit of peanut butter included in the roll. It was a nice touch. My mom started with a kani salad, which had great flavor, but the portion size was extremely small. For dinner, my mom had pad thai with chicken, which she indicated had good flavor, but the chicken was rubbery, and again a small portion size. I had vegetable pad thai, and while again, the flavor was good, it had absolutely no vegetables in it. It seemed as though they just gave me plain paid thai. When we asked the waitress if it was supposed to come with vegetables in it (like all of the other times I have ordered vegetable pad thai from other restaurants), she said she was going to ask the chef. She never came back. So, I am truly not sure if there were supposed to be vegetables in it or not, but if not, they should just rename the meal to pad thai. While the waitstaff was fine, no one that greeted us seemed overly enthusiastic or friendly. Overall, I think MoMo is a fine restaurant in a pinch, but would not say I am overly excited to recommend anyone to try it. I will also probably not be back. read more

While the service and atmosphere were fine, I did not really enjoy my lunch. I ordered chicken yaki soba. Anytime I have had soba at a Japanese restaurant, they have been made of buckwheat. These noodles were a light colored curly type (like ramen). It was bland and had only 4 small pieces of chicken. My mother had the nabeyaki udon which she found bland. It had one shrimp tempura and a few pieces of chicken but it did not have an egg which I thought was standard with that type of dish. Maybe the sushi/shashimi is better based on the reviews. I have been to Momo Sushi for a couple of times now and have enjoyed every experience. I mainly writing this review for their specialty rolls and Sashimi, so I can't speak too much about their other entrees. Although, miso soup came with one of our orders and it isn't something very remarkable. The dessert is also something I would pass on. I got the tempura ice cream and wasn't fried very well. The mochi ice cream is better bought from the store. In general their portion sizes,in terms of their rolls, are a lot smaller than other sushi places I have been to.They make their rolls with a thin layer of rice, so you will need to eat a lot more pieces than you're use to. However, I have found that the freshness of the fish something to be worth coming back for. I am sensitive to raw fish and can usually only handle a little and can eat more when they're more fresh. If the fish isn't fresh I usually feel sick within the hour. I have not had that happen here at Momos, with the exception when I overate the amount I tolerated. On about three occasions, my party would order at least 6 rolls and they usually brought it out on a nice boat. I have also ordered the Sashimi combination once and it was described to be a lot bigger than what we saw. They had like over 6 different kinds of fish, but only one to two pieces each. Needless to say it is not meant to be shared with more than 2 people. The restaurant isn't too large, but it does have a nice atmosphere. In my experience, I have found the employees to be friendly and attentive. They definitely never let your water cup go empty or leave you too long before taking your order. After getting over the portion sizes of their sushi, it is a good spot that consistently delivers fresh sushi. Went with a group of friends, none of us were impressed. The food was so-so and the service was overbearing. With six people it takes some time to view the extensive menu. In a span of 10 minutes we were asked three times if we were ready to order even though we had specified that we needed more time. Every time someone even laid a utensil down a server swept in to see if they could take the person's plate. I'm all about speedy service, but this was ridiculous- it was as if they couldn't wait for us to leave. We also ordered an appetizer that never arrived, but thankfully we weren't charged for it. Great sushi spot in Milford! I stopped by for lunch and took advantage of their lunch specials. Pick up was quick and easy. I ordered the Salmon Sushi Lunch (4 salmon sushi, 1 spicy salmon roll) and the three roll special (spicy salmon, spicy tuna, yellowtail) and everything was fresh and tasty. The rice sort of melts in your mouth and lets the flavor of the fish shine. My one complaint is that the rolls were very small. I'm not sure if this is unique to COVID times (I do understand this is a tough time for many businesses), but for the price I should have been a lot fuller than I was. read more

Finding this restaurant was a wonderful surprise for me! My young toddler and I were running errands and we needed food. I was going to just head to the mall, but I opened Yelp and I noticed this place had great reviews. So I thought, why not? And I'm glad I did. I got a couple of the vegetarian rolls and I got the vegetable fried rice for my son. I also brought home a shrimp tempura roll for my husband. Everything was delicious and fresh. The tamago (egg custard) was fabulous and not too sweet while the Inari was delicious and savory. I got the 'spicy tomato' roll just because I had never tried tomato in sushi. Oh yum. In definitely ordering that again! The fried rice was flavorful and colorful. It had more than just peas and carrots (there was zucchini!) and the seasoning was a complex blend that wasn't too salty. The dining experience was lovely and they were super patient with someone alone with a young toddler. The sushi and service is consistently good. Some of the rolls seem smaller than average but the fish is so fresh it doesn't matter! I'd rather pay for quality over quantity. This was one of my favorite sushi spots pre-covid, and the quality of their fish has remained very high!! I got the salmon lunch special (a great value) which came with my choice of salmon avocado roll and salad, and I added on the real winners, my favorite indulgence: fatty salmon belly sashimi. Started out with the Gyoza and King Crab Rangoon - both very fresh (especially the King Crab - definitely order this if you go) before moving to dinner. I went for the chicken pad thai (also great; a little too much sauce for me but well-prepared and tasty) and my wife had the teriyaki bento box which every part of was great. Portions were spot-on as well. As for drinks we had a Scorpion bowl, lychee martini, and a Mai Tai. All were great (well balanced, not too sweet, fresh ingredients) and in particular the Mai Tai was made exactly as it should - with orgeat and no pineapple. Wish I had time to have had a second. Such a great place and chill atmosphere, very good food and very welcoming staff that will treat you like family. This is a very good place for first date ideas and anniversary's, this is always our go to for our sushi cravings. They are busy on Friday nights and Saturday nights but totally worth the wait. While the food here is good and the atmosphere looks inviting upon first glance, this review is mostly about the wait staff. The wait staff will stand approximately 2 feet from your table and stare at you for your entire meal. They will try to lift your plates and drinks away from you before you're even done. It is so rushed and uncomfortable and aggressive. We also have had 3 different people wait on us at the same time, every time we've been there. As in all 3 are at our table in the same moment. It's just my husband and I and we don't order that much to need 3 people hovering over us. Would not recommend, even thinking about it makes me so uncomfortable my skin crawls. Wow. Just... wow. Their omakase is the best for 20 miles, and can be adjusted (+/-) to fit your budget.

Besides the high prices for mediocre food ($7 for a cucumber/tomato 6 piece roll?), the service here is appalling and disgusting. I ordered the vegetable udon in broth, and what I received was boiled vegetables and udon in hot water. No seasoning, no flavor, no salt, nothing whatsoever besides noodles and boiled to death veggies in hot water. I took half of a bite of a carrot slice, a sip of "broth", and immediately told a waiter I wasn't happy with the food. After 10 minutes of waiting, an older woman comes out and immediately starts yelling at me for having the audacity to send the food back. She wouldn't let me speak, wouldn't look me in the eye, and kept telling me over and over I have to pay for this food regardless or not if it was good or not. I wasn't looking for a comped meal, I was looking for a meal that tasted at the very least, decent. I asked her if there was a way to make it better, because it was literally just boiled hot water and had no flavor. She kept telling me no, and if I didn't like it, to never come back. She then went on to tell me she would take 50% off of the meal, when I didn't eat any of it besides half a chunk of carrot, and WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE MEAL BACK. I asked her if I could at least have my food back and she said no, or else she's going to call the cops and charge me full price for a meal that wasn't edible. So my option was either paying for a meal I didn't get to eat or have the cops come because I didn't want to pay for a meal I didn't get to eat. At that point I didn't trust any of the food out of fear of tampering so I paid the bill and left. Really depressing experience and reading the low reviews for the restaurant, I'm at least relieved to know it's not just me. Working in a restaurant sucks, I get it. But the entire point is making your customers happy and serving good food. I've never seen or heard of a manager telling a customer to never come back instead of doing what they can to make their experience better by at least taking the food back to season it. read more

Ordered a miso soup, gyoza, the Fancy Ebi roll (shrimp tempera topped with cooked shrimp and avocado) and a Becca roll (avocado, cucumber, mango topped with salmon and tuna alternated with avocado). I told the lady I spoke to on the phone that I wanted no mango on my Becca roll. They told me 10-12 minutes, 10 minutes later my food was ready! I walked in and everyone who worked there greeted me with a smile. My total came out to roughly $31. When I left everyone again said goodbye, the environment was great.
