SO AUTHENTIC SO FRESH IAM SOOO EXCITED TO RETURN TO THE DUMPLING HOUSE! Everything is so reasonably priced for the portions which are given. Genuinely so pleasantly surprised with this spot. I highly recommend the scallion pancakes and the pork soup dumplings. Super spacious place! (No music which is odd/hard to manage lolol) Quick and positively familial service!! read more

Really good hole in the whole Chinese restaurant. Came in one night when I was craving Chinese and got the wonton soup and prawns with broccoli + brown rice. The wonton soup was lightly salty and the dumplings were satisfying. The prawns and the broccoli both tasted fresh - definitely not any frozen vegetables used. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and inviting. Would definitely go back if in the area. read more

Stopped by here the other night for a quick bite. Their dining room is small and simple, very quiet no music playing. This restaurant has a very large menu with many different dishes some labeled authentic and others just regular Chinese American food. I ordered soup dumplings, an eggroll, and beef lo mein. The soup dumplings were very small, did not contain any soup and by my account were store-bought, and not a very good brand. They were not made in house and really weren't very good. I suspect they bought them from the local Asian market on Cherry Street. The egg roll was cooked nicely, but the filling was mostly cabbage and not particularly flavorful. The beef lo mein was disappointing as well. The noodles were fine, but there was really not much else to it. Some very small pieces of cabbage and what I would consider almost scraps of beef. The overall flavor of the lo mein was basically just salt and soy. I didn't taste any garlic or ginger, oyster sauce, nothing that makes lo mein good. There were no onions in the lo mein, no bean sprouts, no Napa cabbage, and the sauce itself was thin and didn't really cling to the noodles as it should. I am not Asian and I make a better lo mein at home. All in all it was an edible meal, but not a particularly good one. Is it fair to judge a restaurant on what I had to eat? Perhaps not, as there are literally 100 dishes there but these are basic Chinese staples. If they can't pull these off with ease, I can't imagine the other dishes would be excellent. read more

0 stars based on service. I couldn't even get food. I walked into the to go side and said hello multiple times, no response. Not the first time for this treatment. I ordered in advance once & it took a long time to get someone to acknowledge me for a to go order. Today, I also walked into the dine in side, saw a worker but he was on the phone and refused to acknowledge me. The dining area was empty. I went to the store next door for about 5-10 min and when I went back to my car, the same guy was still walking around the dining area on the phone. Is this a front for something nefarious? They don't want business? read more

Dumpling House is a small family establishment set up in a strip-mall. Not fancy but everyone can find something they like. The service is fast for a small operation. The spicy fish at Dumpling House was my favorite dish. If you love cumin you will like this dish as well as the fried tofu. The soup dumplings here did not have much soup and the spicy chicken was not infused with the Szechuan pepper flavor like other places we frequent. The eggplant and other dishes were on the sweeter side. We travel and seek out Szechuan food. Our favorite spot is Fantasy in Westchester, NY. We will keep traveling to check out other Szechuan spots across the trip-state. read more

Honestly good hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant with an authentic and friendly owner. I have yet to try their dumplings so I can't say anything about that, however, I did grab one of their to-go lunch specials and it did the job of satisfaction. They have a unique divider to-go box compared to your other Chinese take-out boxes in the area which might be a good thing or might not be depending on whether or not you like your food rolled in together or divided separately. But otherwise food quality tasted much fresher and nicer compared to other take-out "fast" Chinese places. They also give a 10% student discount for dine-in, another great perk if you're in the area as a student to grab some delicious food. read more

Visited with friends for Chinese New Year as my friend read that eating lots of dumplings is key in the new Year! Well this will definitely be a go to spot to get dine in dumplings from now on. The ambiance was quiet and perfect for a quick dinner out. The girl who helped us was friendly and super understanding when my friend asked for her check to be separate and added a large takeout order. Also, I thought it was kind that she offered me a fork when she noticed my clumsiness with chopsticks. I was too embarrassed to ask. As for the food, I tried the pork dumplings and the shrimp dumplings with were both tasty. I also had a sip of my friend's Jasmine tea which is great for fans of floral teas! It was odd that the drinks were not actually on the menu though. read more

We love dimsum, and wanted to find a decent local option for soup dumplings and gave this place a chance. We were just so sorely disappointed. Everything was mid at best, and sad and flavorless at worse. The egg plant is super soggy and kind of flavorless, and we ordered a wide variety of dumplings. The wrappers ok them were all kind of falling apart, but the soup dumplings were the most offensive. You might be better of getting frozen ones from trader Joe's. Better dumplings at any Asian grocery store. The meat buns were dense, heavy, and dry. The crystal shrimp dumpling had decent flavor but the dough is way too thick. If you want decent dumplings in CT, Nan xang soup dumplings in stamford is worth the drive because these might fill you with regret. Sorry read more

Simply irresistible. The greatest feature of this restaurant is the consistency of deliciousness in every meal. Everything is cooked to perfection and unlike some places, you feel healthier, having eaten their food. Walked in and was greeted promptly tonight be sat Looked over the menu and proceeded to order. I had the bok choy and my guest had something else but I don't remember what it was because the server took it back before asking us to never come back. It all was a simple request. When our food was brought out it was served on ice cold plates. That in turn made the food cold on the bottom so when you stirred it the food all turned cold. My guest explained the situation to our server which I believe is one of the owners. She explained that all the plates are cold because they are in the back. He suggested to warm them up a bit before putting food in them She took my plate and heated the whole thing up so hot I was unable to eat it. Right at that time my guests food came out and it was hearty bowl of veggies and meat. Of course again they put the food in an ice cold bowl so the food turned cold. He called the woman over. She went crazy on us. She started yelling saying that's it!! The whole meal is on me. Just never come back. Well his meal never got warmed up and brought back out so we ate my bok choy with mushrooms and a little rice. We left there pretty disturb by her lack of understanding that all that was needed was a little warming of the plates before putting the food in it. These plates felt like they were kept in a freezer. The ambience of the place was ok nothing special. But honestly if you have any issues with anything this is not the place to go. read more

What a disappointment! We were recommended to this restaurant by people who we thought knew Asian food, but clearly they didn't. The dumplings are good, but that's about it. We ordered cold noodles with sesame sauce, which was lacking in flavor and sesame sauce. The shrimp in garlic sauce was sweet and we didn't taste any garlic, though the shrimp were of good quality. Coming from New York, we are used to really good Chinese food. This wasn't even close. Won't be back. read more

My daughter and I stopped on our way home from NYC holiday shopping. The day was cold and the traffic was heavy and we were hungry. Dumpling house is located in a building with multiple businesses. Greeted warmly and guided to the dining area we looked at the extensive menu. We chose soup dumplings, pork dumplings, pork and cabbage dumplings and beef dumplings. Everything came out quickly and the flavors were fantastic. The soup dumplings rivaled the ones we have had in New York. Everything was hand made with love. Absolutely delicious. Like eating in an Asian mom's home. Will definitely return and of course recommend. read more

Awful. Will not be back! Food presentation unappetizing, no additional sauces to assist flavorless dishes and rude staff.

I'm truly disappointed that I that I have to downgrade my previous positive review from 7 years ago to one-star. While we've noticed a decline in the food quality here over the years, it's never been as bad as what we experienced with our last order. Everything, from the appetizers, to the soup, to the main dishes was almost inedible. At this point, one star is generous to say the least. The pork soup dumplings used to be a little bigger, but now are tiny - maybe about an inch in diameter and the "pork" ball in the middle tasted nothing like pork. Overall there was something about them that tasted off. The fact that all of the dumplings stick together and rip open when you try to separate them totally ruins the whole soup-in-a-dumpling experience. The BBQ pork buns were 95% bread and 5% meat. Pretty much flavorless except for the tiny hit of salt and sauce in the very middle. The wontons in the wonton soup were overcooked mush. Again, these had a bad taste to them. The super-greasy eggroll was dark brown in color, indicating that the fryer oil hasn't been changed in a while, which gave it a wholly unpleasant taste. The boneless BBQ pork was some of the worst I've ever had. The meat was so dry, overcooked and tough, it was like eating jerky, except jerky tastes better. The thick sauce had congealed and was loaded with sugar/corn syrup and sodium. The General Tso's chicken was dry and overcooked. The sauce was super-syrupy and the 2 pieces of broccoli that were included were old, brown and soggy from sitting in the sauce for however long. Meanwhile, the broccoli that was included in another dish looked green and fresh. Just the lack of consistency in the appearance of the produce says a lot. I could go on. Overall, every single item had a bad taste to it. Nothing tasted fresh, not even the edamame. There were three of us and we ended up throwing most of the order into the trash because it all tasted so bad. We all agreed that given all the other options out there for quality takeout, we will never return here again. read more

This is a small "mom and pop" Chinese joint. We stumbled upon it, by searching Chinese food, during a staycation in the area. (We're a 50 min drive from Milford.) The place is reminiscent of may small family owned Chinese restaurants... with reddish brown wood furniture and "assorted stacked items" and decorations. (Hubby is a CBC... do we love it, since it reminds us of family.) We came for the dumplings and buns and were not disappointed! Food is delicious and relatively inexpensive. Great value for the money, since they didn't skimp on the fillings. We had steamed as well as pan fried chicken dumplings, steamed veg dumplings, peanut buns and red bean buns. All yum!!! We'll recommend and return! read more

I've been to many dumpling places, from Chinatown in Manhattan to China and Taiwan, this place is by far the in the New England area. The steam dumpling meat they use much better quality than the places in NYC. These dumplings are handmade by the old lady who works there, not from mass produced frozen factories. The prices for this area is very reasonable. I will be back here for more food! read more

Quick pit stop for takeout on our way through Connecticut. Obviously we HAD to order the dumplings (chicken) and they were very tasty! I asked for some chili sauce on the side and theirs had a thicker, pastier texture than regular chili oil - it was sooooo good. While grabbing our takeout, we saw patrons dining in and all their entrees looked so enticing. Would love to return for a proper sit-down meal. read more

Please keep in mind, I rate restaurants based on expectations. Obviously a Michelin star restaurant will have higher expectations than McDonalds. With that being said, Dumpling House was great for a lower end Chinese Cuisine. The dumplings were excellent! I would say the dumplings really stood out. Wonton soup was great. General Tso's Chicken was dry and the chicken was chewy. The fried rice was good too. It was great for what it was. The waiter let us bring in pizza from the place next door for my kids since they don't eat Chinese. Decently priced, great service, I was happy with our experience here! read more

Can I give them 6 stars? I tried this place on a whim just hoping for some good dumplings and what I got was authentic, made to order, high quality Chinese food; a rarity if you don't do your homework. The food even looked good on the plate. They are not fooling around here. I had the wontons with spicy chili oil for an appetizer, and the house special fried rice and General Tso chicken for the main course. Unbelievably fresh and excellent taste. The chicken was spicy but not overwhelming and the chili peppers were chopped up in the dish. The other reason I knew it was the real deal? Several Asian people eating there. That clinched it. Go here. That is all. P.S. Don't let the drab strip mall exterior fool you. There is excellence happening here. read more

I arrived in Milford. Connecticut around 7:45 pm from New Jersey. I checked in to my hotel then arrived at Dumpling House around 8:30 and ordered Scallion Pancakes, Stir-fried Bok Choy and Mushrooms, and Scrambled Eggs with Tomatoes. They all worked well with each other; The scrambled egg dish was surprisingly wonderful: perfectly-cooked scrambled eggs sauteed with fresh tomatoes till the maters release their juices. there was enough bok choy and eggs with tomatoes left over that I just mixed them with a free bowl of steamed brown rice that came with the bok choy dish, and it'll be my breakfast tomorrow. read more

I felt like eating dumplings as I walked through the isles of G Market... quickly I reached in my back pocket to grab my iPhone. I unlocked my screen and opened my Yelp app with one swipe and a tap. D U M P L I N G S I typed it while I continued to walk through the isles. Dumpling House... Popped up on my screen, not too far from here... let's do it. After we paid, we made our way to the car and drove to our destination. Dumpling House is a whole in the wall kind a restaurant. We looked at the menu and decided to try a couple of items on the D menu. Shrimp, shrimp pork, wonton in broth, pork buns and pork in chili. Our order was delivered in no time, and slowly we started to eat. This is really good! The pork buns are awesome, but so are all the other items. This is a must go, must try. The menu is bigger than just dumplings, but it's the dumpling house, and not Generals Tso's. So get the dumpling you will enjoy them. read more

Felt like we were sitting in a family run restaurant in NY Chinatown. You don't come here for the decor or atmosphere. Real reason, and it's a good one, is the food is delicious and very satisfying.
