There is a bunch of talk in CT about their noodles, which have been available in NYC, but no so much in CT. So, been meaning to try. The approach is quite easy from Boston Post Road. I wanted their Signature JBC rice noodles, but wanted it with seafood instead. When I asked, I was immediately accommodated. I asked about the things used in making this noodle and the waitress explained well. Wood-ear mushrooms seem ubiquitous and they were made just right. We had some scallion pancakes with curry sauce. (My thought, the regular soy sauce would be better. May be my preference. ) The stir fried chicken noodle was quite good. The hot sauce on the side was quite spicy! Great experience. It's sad to see restaurants wane as time goes on. This place was decent before, now it is not worth the spend. The food remained constant which I appreciate but the service and the ambiance is clearly suffering. We went and they had absolutely no heat and refused to acknowledge it. Ji Bei Chuan is mainly known for their Chinese rice noodle dishes, but today I decided to switch things up and go for the tonkatsu ramen--and I'm glad I did. The broth was rich and deeply savory, the pork cutlet stayed crispy on top, and the noodles had a great chewy texture. A surprisingly solid bowl that really hit the spot. I started with the fried calamari appetizer--lightly battered, crispy, and flavorful without being greasy. Perfect start to the meal. I couldn't wait to try Ji Bei Chuan when I found out they opened a location here in CT. Every time I visit Flushing, I always stop by for their flavorful broth, springy rice noodles, and generous portion sizes. This location did NOT disappoint! The chicken was tender and moist, just as I remembered, and the noodles had that same great texture. I left feeling full and satisfied. While the Flushing location's broth is slightly more flavorful and includes more fish maw, I'm already planning to come back (probably next week) to enjoy some of the dishes I miss. We had expected more. Need to add chili oil but be careful as the chili oil is quite spicy! The ramen was decent, my son loved it! This branch of Ji Bei Chuan is absolutely fantastic. I've been here twice in the past two weeks and the food has been consistently good--the noodles in both the soup and stir fry dishes are perfect, portions are substantial, and the flavors are on point. The Taiwan "popcorn" chicken appetizer comes out piping hot, fried perfectly, and is a lovely starter that is a good size for sharing. The original beef or seafood noodle soups are really the reason to come here, and I'd recommend that over the pho or the ramen since it is what they do best. The mushrooms are stellar, they don't skimp on the noodles, and the broth has deep flavor without being too salty. The Beef hofun (or chow fun dry style) is exactly what I'd been looking for out here--hand shredded noodle, crispy bean sprouts, big cuts of green onion, and cooked perfectly. It's my favorite dish here! Service was great, the restaurant is well lit and tastefully decorated, and the whole place is very clean from top to bottom. Came for the signature Fish maw chicken rice noodles. The size of the bowl was big. Poached chicken was boneless and the texture of the chicken was tender. The chicken broth was yummy! It has a good flavor, the bowl was filled mainly with corn, black woodear mushrooms, a few enoki mushrooms, a few iceberg lettuce pieces, a few fried tofu puffs, some gojiberries. Added $2 for marinated egg. The eggs only tasted soy but not really flavorful. I kept searching for my fish maws!!! But I could only find two tiny pieces! So that was an epic fail on promoting the fish maws signature rice noodles!! Pork bao was excellent. Pork was tender and delicious. Would have been 4 stars if they actually put some fish maws in my order.... Why missing the main ingredient of the dish??? The deco of the restaurant is very cute and modern though. Perfect place for some rainy day ramen- or any day. Place is bright, and decorated very cute. They have a good size menu for different types of pallets. The ramen broth was flavorful and packed with well blended ingredients. The Spicy Mala soup was a good level of spice and were generous with their protein portions. The rice noodle did not absorb the broth flavor like the ramen noodles did (but were very good as a take home later). We also had the pork and crab soup dumplings which also had a wealth of broth in them, but didn't taste much crab in them. Service was very good, waitstaff was very attentive, and constantly can came over to check how things were going. I don't know. I just....aaahhhhh. Ok. I ordered what was described as traditional bone soup, it came with rice noodles and a few other things. I am pretty well versed in Asian food and ... I think the noodles were spaghetti. Like Italian noodles. I've never seen rice noodles like this. And the broth reminded me of Campbell's chicken soup. It wasn't BAD. It was good. Accidentally discovered this place while we were in the area and craving Chinese food. This place is fairly new and the layout is pretty big as at the entrance they have a sitting area and then several tables towards the back. Since it was fairly cold we went for the spice Mala section of the menu and ordered a Beef and one Shrimp soup. And just for extra measures we went ahead with the Beef Ho Fun as well. The food arrived relatively quickly but the first shocker was the size of the soup bowls. They were HUGE and there was no way we could have finished in one or even two sittings. The Ho Fun was the highlight of what we ordered. Perfect flavor for what we were looking for specially if you add a bit of Soy Sauce and the chili sauce. The Mala's were flavorful, I preferred the beef over the shrimp as the taste was slightly more richer. The service was great, bot the attendants checked on us a few times. I saw this establishment while driving down the Post Road and was immediately intrigued because I love noodles. So I decided to give them a try. I placed my order via DoorDash for pick up. In the comments, I requested that it be spicy. Within a couple of minutes, I received a call from a woman. She indicated what alterations she recommended so that I could have what I ordered in a spicy version, which basically included a side of chili oil. I appreciated the customer service and her following up with me, as this was my first time ordering from there and I wasn't very familiar with the menu. I also ordered the Bao buns- they were delicious! The parking lot is a bit narrow, and is shared with other businesses but I was able to find a space immediately. Upon walking in, it was extremely open, many tables and extremely clean with nice decor. The soup was OK, in a light tomato broth. The brisket was tender, and there was a significant amount in there. The chili oil didn't provide enough kick for me, so I had to enhance it with a few more pepper flakes, but overall it was good. If you enjoy noodles, I highly recommend giving them a try. read more

Time: July 2023 The place recently opened, so we decided to check it out prior to our routine trip to Trader Joe's. The inside is clean and well decorated to a cute ancient China noodle theme. The counters and tables looked modern, and the dining area was spacious. The service was also good, we were seated quickly. The food comes in ginormous portions and the soup somehow remained warm after like an hour of eating. They give a good proportion of toppings to noodles to soup, and they didn't skimp on meat. - Tomato Beef Slices Noodle: the soup was sweet, savory, and hearty. The toppings of corn, wood ear, tofu, and emoji mushroom were a delicious and perfect combination of toppings. The noodles were not that notable and didn't feel like they paired that well with the rest of the dish. The noodle was reminiscent of Vietnamese rice noodle, so I was a little disappointed. I kind of wish they were more chewy and more like a flour noodle/hand pulled noodles. While I really enjoyed the taste of this dish, I don't think the oil used in the broth sat well in my stomach as I felt kind of groggy and full throughout the rest of the day (and I only finished half of the dish!) Overall, I would come back to try more of their other dishes! Their pho broth was pretty good, but wasn't stewed for long enough. We were super excited to visit the first Ji Bei Chuan location in CT! There are so many authentic items on the menu that I haven't seen elsewhere. We love this kind of food! The menu is very authentic and I had to research what some stuff was but we love authentic. Service was very friendly! Very! And they helped me through the menu. I ordered edamame and Taiwanese fried chicken for an appetizer and loved them both! Favorite parts of our meal. There's chili oil on the table and it's spicy and delicious, the best. Best. As for our dinners, I think we will try something different next time! I got the stir fry with wide noodles, it was ok, not too much flavor. My boyfriend got the pho and it was just okay, no depth of flavor in the broth, it was the color of chicken noodle soup but this was the beef pho we ordered. I'm used to a more flavorful broth. I was so hopeful that this could be a great noodle and dumpling place in the area. I've had great curry soups at places in the Norwalk area but this place pales. I could not finish the soup it was so bad tasting. The beef is SUCH POOR QUALITY that I had even seen served in a restaurant. It's curly and shaved thin with pieces of nerve and fat attached. Dumplings were also disappointing. Servers are friendly but their English is greatly compromised. A big NO for me and my family.
