This place is insanely amazing! The mecca of asian groceries and food in CT. I was blown away with the vast amount of fish, seafood, meat, veggies, and grocery items. From chinese, japanese, korean, thai, and filipino products. Sorry i did not mention other asian food - im not familiar with them yet. I got some salmon head and salmon steak. The guy in the fish section was not that approachable and a bit rough on the edges. The guy in the grocey isle was healpful. The place is massive! For the CT area, there are very few larger Asian supermarkets, G-Mart being one of them...they seem to have an ok variety of Asian staples, fresh produce, snacks and some household items in a spacious and clean store. About 1/6 of the store looks like it could have been used for independent storefronts or a food court, the area going towards restrooms, but now seems to be overflow storage. When I am around Milford, I love stopping by and getting all my Asian goodies. They have so many things from fresh seafood to Asian chips. I can spend hours looking at all the snacks I want to buy. There is a large selection of ramen and all the sauces you need to make your favorite Asian dishes. The supermarket is mostly organized and the cashier moves pretty quickly. There is plenty of parking in the lot. The supermarket doesn't smell too strong of seafood, which I understand turn people off about Asian markets. GMart is a good Asian market if you're not able to get to Hmart. They have all the necessary Asian condiments, seasonings, noodles, seafood, meat, and vegetables. It's quite pricey except for the seafood. They don't have a lot of Korean options or ready-to-eat meals, and the dumplings are crazy expensive. There's not much selection of Asian desserts, sweets, and snacks. But, it'll do, but it can't be compared to Hmart by any measure. read more

While visiting Milford I saw this location and had to stop in. HUGE location!! Well light and organized. When you walk in you are greeted by the carts. If you have more will power then me, keep walking. If not, don't make the mistake I did thinking your only coming for 2 items and have to walk back to grab a cart. Fresh produce, huge bags of rice (who doesn't like this ), lots of major snacks and ones I haven't heard of as well. Aisle and aisle of all types sauces, noodles, produce, and refrigerated items. There is also a fresh seafood section. There are many rows of cashier's and when I was there the lines moved fairly well. Definitely check it out if your in Milford! read more

While in Milford I decided to make a stop at G-Mart. This is a good size market on Cherry St. that has an array of Asian items. The first thing I noticed was how clean the produce looked. We grabbed a few persimmons and a pomelo to start. There were rows of snacks, teas, candies, spices/sauces, frozen and fridge items, and cooking items. I couldn't leave without mochi and Kit Kats at the very least. I grabbed a few other items my husband and I have never had and made mental notes to come back when I had more freezer space. The noodle row was impressive and I look very forward to coming back to grab an assortment. Definitely a great stop and worth doing some quality shopping. read more

It was a bit of a drive for us to get here from New Haven, but so worth it! The produce is very fresh and reasonably priced. Most veggies have already been portioned out into individual bags/trays and they have a good selection of Asian vegetables. However, since most of the produce is already prepackaged, it's hard to buy just one nub of ginger or one head of garlic. There's a huge selection of Asian snacks, candy, and pantry necessities. I was impressed by the snacks - so much variety from classics like shrimp chips, white rabbit candy, to more modern snacks (Asian Lays chips flavors, Japanese KitKats)! All of the pantry items I was searching for (miso paste, gochujang, oyster sauce, cooking wine, various soy sauces) had very recent bottling dates/expiration dates that were years out. Even though this is a Chinese grocery store, there's still a good selection of Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai products. read more

I must correct a reviewer (Umed). He said there was a food court in the back. NO THERE IS NOT!!!!!!!!! There's not food court with eateries in this store. So I don't know where he got this? I no longer need to travel to NYC Chinatown to shop anymore.I love this market, you can find every Asian food ingredients, both packaged and fresh...lots of Chinese vegetables, canned & bottled sauces of all kind, Asian snacks and fresh meats, all kinds of Asian noodles and kitchen bowls & utensils etc. The only thing missing is the Chinese delicatessen with hot food. This supermarket is incredible! This was my first time here. My best friend and sister took me. I felt like a kid in a candy store, haha! They have everything from meats to noodles. This store is located on Cherry Street in a plaza near Planet Fitness, UPS Store and Bobs Stores. The store is clean and well stocked with Asian foods. The store has fresh seafood, fresh meats, live seafood tanks, packaged and frozen foods, fresh produce and most anything that you would find in a supermarket. I was looking for fresh lychee fruit but didn't find them this trip. I did pick up some fresh baby bok choy, celery, mushrooms, ginger, onions, tomatoes and bean sprouts to make a vegetable stir fry in my wok. The store has many employees however they were not outgoing hardly looked at me and no one asked me if I had any questions or needed assistance. If the staff was more helpful, I cannot read Asian packages, I might have given the shop five stars. read more

Very nice large and open store. Love that the aisles are clearly marked which makes it very ready to find things. They are grouped in sections to help shop, so that was a plus. Nice spacious super clean supermarket with various Asian products from fresh vegetables, meats, fish, spices, sauces, snacks, etc, etc. This is one of the biggest supermarkets I have seen in Fairfield County, and my wife loved it! There is so much choice, you have to take at least one hour to roam the store to get an idea of everything they have to offer. This was our first visit to G Mart, and I have mixed feelings about this place. After reading reviews on different platforms, I was under the impression that there was going to be more Korean items here (as reviewers were calling this place a Korean store). This is not so. They have a huge variety of Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese items. This place is more like a bigger and better A Dong in West Hartford. The aisles are super wide. You could probably fit 3 shopping carts side-by-side. The store is clean, and well stocked. The bathroom doesn't smell, which is a huge plus! I was in awe of their seafood department. Everything looked so fresh! Probably won't be back, only because I'm looking for more specific items I can only find at H Mart. The extra 40-minute drive would be well worth it. read more

Okay me lovelies, I gave G-Mart 4 stars because they have a good variety of products used to make Asian cuisine. G-mart also had household items for the typical Asian household. I will note their prices are a little bit higher than other Asian Markets but I think that is because of the locality. There are Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai(but not limited to) products in store. There is a fishmonger in store, some produce, a decent meat selection. The location is handicap accessible ample accessible parking and great space for wheelchair bound patrons the aisles are nice and wide. The bathrooms can use some work and updating. I did find it a bit odd beansprouts were not sold in G-mart I had to get them from ShopRite across the way. I was happy to see G-mart sells the coveted floor tables. Overall, I'd shop there again when I am in the area simply because there aren't many other options nearby. read more

Every time we need an ingredient (so far, rice paper, vegetarian hoisin sauce, water spinach, lychee jellies, gochujaru, shiitake mushrooms, vegetables, Thai basil, mint) we have found it here. There is a large selection of noodles and easy-make meals, snacks, and beverages. (I've enjoyed lychee jellies and soy milk drinks, as well as Sriracha peas from here so far.) Also, cooking and eating implements. And more! I love it here, and I wish it was closer to where I live. After moving to Bridgeport, I was on a quest to find Japanese food ingredients and initially turned to the neighborhood Food Bazaar. Known for its range of Asian foods, the selection at my local store was somewhat less diverse than I had hoped for, especially in comparison to other locations in the New York area. My discovery of G Mart, however, changed everything. Taking over a former Shop Rite, this store is a haven for Asian groceries. While primarily a Chinese chain, G Mart impressively stocks a wide array of Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, and Japanese items as well. What really stands out is their fresh and reasonably priced Asian vegetables. It's interesting to note that the store has gained popularity largely through word-of-mouth, foregoing traditional advertising and social media. The store is clean with an incredibly diverse selection. My only minor complaint is the constant, overzealous air conditioning, making it a bit too chilly regardless of the season. For this reason, I'm giving it 4 stars. read more

This was a hell of a find. We were looking at making an Asian dish. Started researching Asian markets. This one got great reviews. "When in Rome..." Well, I was not in Asia, but the dish I was making was born there. The vast majority of the patronage was Asian. The staff as well (and non-English speaking save for two, and they were all incredibly patient with me) So many amazing choices of packaged food and vacuum sealed. An excellent fresh fish display. I enjoy coming here. My friend told me about this place when they opened and since then I have made multiple trips. It is very very cold in there, so be sure to have a sweater on. They have a large selection of everything. I like that the aisle signs are in English as well. I love getting my chili spicy oil from there, and they carry ramen that is made from my mom's home country of Indonesia. It's really good! Todays visit was for some ramen, string beans, drinks for work. I haven't tried their meat selection yet, but will one day. They have a very large selection of seafood that looks fresh. Spacious, excitingly stocked Asian supermarket in the old Shop-Rite store. I need to go back and make serious friends with the fresh fish counter, as the selection was wide-ranging, the fish looked beautiful, and the price was right. Most of the people checking out ahead of me were buying vast amounts of cabbage, daikon, and similar, which I take as a vote in favor of the produce selection. Because I was unprepared for the awesomeness awaiting me, I gravitated to the frozen food section (I may be ditzy, but i can pick out frozen dim sum) and had a lovely time picking pork buns and crystal shrimp. There is also a pick & mix freezer section for balls of delicious things. The china aisle is where I might have broken down in whimpering noises. Growing up in California, I was used to buying little blue porcelain bowls, which out there became much less common over time, and my two favorite stores in San Francisco closed in 2018. The china aisle at G-Mart is both sides of a nice long aisle and has so many cute things! This is a real supermarket, where if you know what you're doing, you can stock up to cook a significant dinner for your whole family.
