After being dissuaded by China Pavilion staff in Orange from coming in to eat on Xmas at all (wtf), we decided to try a new spot and just do takeout. This place is so solid! Extra bonus points because the couple that owns the place has their kid working the front register. He's maybe 10 or so and they've taught him to be so independent and reliable. The kid also has a knack for customer service as he jokes around with you and makes picking up your meal a joy. Tips go to his college fund. I love supporting small businesses like this. read more

Don't get me wrong...the food here tastes absolutely great! HOWEVER... They use MSG in ALL their meats / chicken / seafood to achieve some of that taste - which makes eating here problematic for those who may have medical problems that can be worsened by the consumption of MSG. This includes folks with hypertension, people prone to headaches and those with sleep difficulties - and many other, common, conditions...They apparently use the MSG early in food preparation so ordering food without MSG isn't possible... Because my family orders Chinese food out weekly - and the food tastes SO good - I spoke with the owner about switching to an alternative so that we - and others! - could patronize the restaurant - but she was disinterested...so sad! Perhaps if more people are aware of the added MSG and let the management know their preferences not to be exposed to MSG, more of the public could benefit from a great restaurant and their sales could increase as well...My family alone would spend approximately $2,500 per year on Chinese take-out at this restaurant if no-MSG was an option. read more

Have been here many times always satisfactory. Ordered last told 25 min. Got there in 20 food was ready, beef and broccoli was cold as well as chicken lo mein. Ordered a large shrimp with lobster sauce,which was only hot meal, but only gave us about half cup of white rice for all meals. Idk what happened bad night? This is my first ever review on Yelp, just to say this place is amazing. Since moving to CT I've been looking for a solid, consistent Chinese take out place and this has been great to have so close to my house. Everything is hot and fresh when we order (which admittedly during Covid has been very often!) and the service is fantastic. We like to get a lot at once and have some leftovers and they're great the next day too. Sometimes the wait is long on a weekend, but that just means people know how good this place is too. :) Favorites: Fried dumplings, scallion pancakes, egg rolls, boneless spare ribs, chicken and broccoli, and sesame chicken. read more

Just came across this place recently after having been looking for some decent Chinese takeout in the area for some time now. Found it! The food did not disappoint. I knew it had to be good because I had tried earlier one Friday night around the holidays and the wait was 1.5 hours. I didn't want to wait that long then so I tried again on a mid-week day when It was less busy. I've had several of my go-to favs like the wonton soup, egg rolls, chicken 'n broccoli, general Tao chicken, and pork fried rice. All were amazingly delicious and reminded me of Chinese food places I loved when I lived in other places. The staff/owners are friendly, including a boy who I believe is their son who assists you and is filled with fun facts. Definitely my first choice when I'm in the mood for Chinese! read more

I was skeptical because I haven't found good Chinese food in the valley in 12 years I have lived here. But it was delicious, fresh and hot! We had shrimp egg foo young, sweet and sour chicken, vegetable lo mien, boneless spareribs and crab rangoon. The Rangoon were so good unlike many other places where it's just cream cheese and poorly filled. These had lots of flavor and had very generous filling. Everything was great and not greasy! We even got a free bottle of soda. Not sure if you get one for a certain order amount. The vegetables were fresh and not soggy. Everything had its distinct flavors unlike other places where it all tastes the same. I wish I took pictures but we were hungry and just dove right in. My wife and I order from Seymour Garden regularly! I usually get the Sweet and Sour Chicken, but I've also tried the General Tso's Chicken and the Garlic Chicken. Everything I've had here is delicious. My wife usually gets vegetarian options which she also raves about. They don't deliver, but it's located fairly close to my house so I don't mind picking up. The woman who owns the place is so friendly and always has our food ready on time. We won't go anywhere else in Seymour for Chinese! read more
