    Teriyaki Dinner Bento Box
    Tiffany B.

This is one of my favorite places for a quick and yummy dinner to go! I always order the chicken teriyaki bento box which comes with rice, veggies, shrimp tempura rolls, shumai, and either a side of salad or soup. I would love to explore more of their menu but this bento box is honestly so yummy I cannot get enough. The portions are also very pleasing and usually it is enough to share for two or eat for leftovers (which I personally love having). I am interested in dining in in the future!

I ordered a ton of sushi for my daughters birthday. We were so happy with all the food we received. All the rolls were delicious. They were all rolled so beautifully. When I arrived everything was ready and I was in and out. Looking forward to eating here again, next time we will come in and sit down.

From food to service, Karaku never ceases to please. I come here on dates by myself at least once a month to get their sushi lunch special which comes with either two or three rolls and a choice of miso soup or salad. Super delicious and fresh every single time, and always very decorated and beautifully presented. Not once have I been disappointed with the food or service. Definitely my top sushi spot to go to in the area.

Is this place kid friendly? Do they have a kid's menu not shown?

I believe they have some American items but, honestly it is close to being a mediocre restaurant. Why not give your kids Asian dishes? There are lots of noodle ones that should be good starter dishes.

While in the area for a computer repair, I figured it was a perfect day for some ramen…read more I stumbled upon Terayama and the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen caught my eye as I haven't seen this offered on a menu anywhere around here. The broth was creamy and smooth like a typical Tonkotsu Broth but the added spiciness really removes or supresses the comforting part of this dish. I mean this in the best way possible, it was delicious and now I will be adding spice to my Tokotsu Ramen that I order from a place much more local to me. The broth also was not too salty which was sometimes an issue with me ordering Tonkotsu Ramen in the past. The pork slices were nice and thin and had a nice texture to it as well. The noodles were not overcooked either. A very well done Ramen dish. I decided to order the Butabura Donburi to go. This consisted of a pork rice bowl with caramelized soy sauce, scallion, tamago and sesame seeds. The pork was cooked perfectly and this dish was full of savory flavors. The rice was also "QQ" as some asians would say. For translation just think of QQ for rice the same as Al Dente for pasta. Learning new things every day, will probably be my last time saying QQ but this rice was QQ, straight out of a Zojirushi Rice Cooker. Anyways, before I get too deep into things only Asians would understand or care about, Terayama was quite the perfect stop for me in my long drive to get my computer fixed. All their food was done right and it was just the perfect place to stop in to get welcomed by knowledgeable and comforting staff on a cold day. Quite the hole in the wall but I'm glad I found it. Until the next time Terayama. Keep it QQ.

Was skeptical as many local restaurants do the bare minimum to satisfy local palates, straying from tradition. But not here! Off the beaten path, into the beautiful hills and woods, is this town of Heritage Village I'll have to further explore someday. For now, it's All You Can Eat for $32! Lucky me!! The service was out of control great, especially considering how busy the restaurant is. The whiteboard menu and marker checklist is so smart and fun a concept. It invites gluttony and that's refreshing in these pricey days of eating out. You also feel free to explore menu items you might not if Ala carte pricing. I was also astatic to see plentiful wasabi and ginger on my plate. I've usually experienced cutbacks on these items with AYCE or BOGO deals. The clincher in my love for this place was being asked if I wanted the menu again for more. Lucky me

I have also never been to a sake bar. Have to say....I was underwhelmed. We came in last Friday and apparently it was slow because Yale was off (according to our waiter). If a restaurant is good they should not be slow on a Friday night. We sat by the door on a cold night and there were two other couples practically on top of us. Rest of the seating are high tops against a wall by the bar or up the stairs on another level. We would have liked to sit upstairs but they were closing off that area. Menu was complex as the restaurant is authentic Japanese. Lots of beef options. Lots of Wagyu. I was hoping to be blown away by this restaurant trying something different. I was struggling trying to find something to order that sounded appetizing. I knew going in that this place was authentic Japanese but I don't know, nothing sounded great to me. I love mushrooms so I got the Mixed Kinoko Mushroom appetizer which was $15. To add scallops was another $8. Mushrooms were tasty. Scallops were not. $23 for a small dish. I also got the pork short ribs. Not a ton of meat on them, however, nice flavor. I was still hungry after this so I ordered a dessert which was the best part of the meal. They get some of their desserts from Hen & Heifer which is a well established place in Guilford. I got the Ube Panna cotta. Boyfriend got the Black cod Yu-an Yaki and upgraded to add the salad, pickles and rice for $3 more. The pickles were maybe two bites. Salad tasty but again, very small. He said the cod was just ok too. Very small portions and pricey for what you get. $30 for a mini sake flight. Not impressed with how it was served either. Small tasting glasses just placed on the table with no description. The server explained which was which, but I didn't remember. Not sure if he didn't care or this is how it's normally served, but if you go to a wine bar/brewery, they provide descriptions with flights usually written underneath the glass, or at least serve it in something. Not just tiny glasses placed on a table where you have no idea what you're having. Especially for $30! I was not impressed with this place whatsoever. As this is part of a newer restaurant group with a few different locations nearby in New Haven, we then went to their cocktail Lounge on crown street (116 Cocktail Bar) thinking it might be better, however we were equally disappointed. It was dead in there and the bartenders were miserable. They couldn't wait to get out of there. I have heard that their hand roll bar is very good (Handroll on State St). We have been to their Grocery Store called The Loop and it's cute. They have a brunch at the Grocery/Kitchen location that looks really good. They also have a wine lounge at The Loop that I'd like to try.

You could tell moms were being celebrated everywhere, families were out enjoying themselves, and despite the crowd, the atmosphere still felt fun and lively instead of stressful. They offer an all-you-can-eat menu with a huge variety of sushi, seafood options, and buffet station, which definitely felt worth the price considering how much food is available. Without a reservation, the wait looked pretty long, so I'd definitely recommend calling ahead on holidays or weekends. Even with how crowded it was, the service stayed good throughout the night. The ordering system uses tablets at the table, and because of how busy it was, a few of my orders didn't go through the first time. I mentioned it to our server and he immediately addressed the issue, made sure I reordered everything, and continued checking in to make sure our food was arriving correctly. I also appreciated how accommodating the staff was. I asked for a chicken sushi roll and they made one for me I did have to reorder the seafood boil before receiving it, but the servers stayed attentive, communicated with us, and handled concerns professionally the entire time. What stood out most was that despite the chaos, everyone still seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff was clearly working hard, but they stayed friendly and attentive throughout the Mother's Day rush. Overall, the food was good, the vibe stayed positive, and it still ended up being an enjoyable holiday dinner with friends and family. We also got the edamame, which tasted really fresh with the perfect crisp bite to it. I wasn't sure if I wanted to fully commit to the spicy garlic sauce, so I asked for it on the side... and immediately fell in love with it. We ended up dipping EVERYTHING in it, including the dumplings, which were absolutely delicious. My friend ordered a boba tea without the boba and really enjoyed it. They also got a sushi roll, and I tried some of the California roll myself. Sometimes all you want is a nice, fresh piece of sushi, and this definitely delivered. Also, points for serving the Diet Coke in a bottle. Nothing is worse than an inconsistent fountain! If we're ever back in the New Haven/Hamden area, this will absolutely be our go-to ramen spot.
