Great unplanned lunch here today! Great, fast, friendly service and delicious food! We shared the Beef negimaki appetizer (6pcs but forget to take the pic til we'd eaten 2!), which was so good I could make a meal of just that ... but I didn't of course! I had the vegetable tempura bento box which included rice (I upgraded to fried rice), 3 shumai, a whole pile of tempura veggies, California roll and wasabi and thinly sliced ginger along with the onion mushroom soup that comes with hibachi!! Soooo yummy, I'll try all the bento boxes!! My girls had the chicken pad Thai and the hibachi noodles with beef. And cocktails ... all the cocktails :) The place is a little dark but it's clean! This is one of my favorite places for a quick and yummy dinner to go! I always order the chicken teriyaki bento box which comes with rice, veggies, shrimp tempura rolls, shumai, and either a side of salad or soup. I would love to explore more of their menu but this bento box is honestly so yummy I cannot get enough. The portions are also very pleasing and usually it is enough to share for two or eat for leftovers (which I personally love having). I am interested in dining in in the future! read more

From food to service, Karaku never ceases to please. I come here on dates by myself at least once a month to get their sushi lunch special which comes with either two or three rolls and a choice of miso soup or salad. Super delicious and fresh every single time, and always very decorated and beautifully presented. Not once have I been disappointed with the food or service. One of the Best Japanese Restaurants in Connecticut if you love Sushi and Sashimi. The Spider roll made with fried soft shell crab is to die for!! My wife had the Dinner Bento Box with the Bento Chicken and loved everything. The service was outstanding. The prices are very reasonable and the portions generous. The soup or salad that comes with the meal is very good. We go to the best rated restaurants in Connecticut and NY. and if they were to improve their ambiance/atmosphere which is a little plain and make the restaurant more romantic it would be a destination restaurant and one of the best anywhere. read more

Excellent place for sushi. Used to come here for sit down dinner regularly before Covid. They were only doing takeout for about a year (I'm personally not a takeout fan, so stayed away for a while), but they recently renovated and reopened the dining room and I stopped in last night. Food: I love the sushi. I usually get a Hot Rainbow Roll and an order of salmon sashimi. It's always tasting very fresh, never a bad experience, and I've been here many many times because I live in the town and it's convenient. For drinks, they have a lychee martini which my wife loves, and I usually get a Japanese beer. I'd rather have an IPA, so if the owner is reading, please get some good IPAs. Atmosphere: Review is based on the renovated dining room. It's much better than the older dining room. Refreshed, everything is new, and clean! One negative is that they used to have a bar area in front of the sushi chefs, I am not sure if they have that anymore (sorry I could be wrong). So wife and I sat in a booth in the dining area. I prefer sitting at bar type seating. Service: Excellent. I visit regularly, so they tend to know who we are and are super friendly. A shout out to Asian fusion place in Seymour! We did take out from there last night for our Valentines dinner and it was delicious!! They were super busy with take-out orders (I guess we were not the only ones with the same idea!) but it was well worth it. We had Hibachi chicken (they don't have hibachi tables) and the salmon teriyaki bento box. The portions were big! The fried rice was fluffy and light. Not too greasy and not too salty either. A friend and I came here recently- it had been years since I visited and was my friend's first time. We each ordered a lunch special of 3 sushi rolls. There was a gnat flying around the whole time- so we had to keep swatting throughout the meal. Our sushi rolls were decent- but while eating one of my spicy salmon pieces, I bit into something really hard, I felt it go down as I swallowed and I'm pretty sure it was a piece of bone. Yuck! My wife and I first started going to Karaku about 2 years ago. It's the only Japanese place in Seymour that I'm aware of and it's delicious. I usually get their Hibachi chicken dinner with an edamame appetizer and my wife loves their sushi. We eat dinner their fairly often, but we order out on a regular basis. The food doesn't take long to prepare and it's always ready when I arrive to pick it up. Everything I've had there is delicious. When I pick up the food, the guy that usually works at the front desk area is friendly and easygoing. There is a $10 credit card minimum, but the first few times I forgot and he was very flexible. The eat-in service is prompt, but the language barrier presents a challenge sometimes and the girls that serve us usually look unhappy. Overall, great food and quick service. read more

I have been here quite a few times and plan to keep going. The restaurant is farily new and the inside although small is well decorated and comfortable. The staff has always been freindly and attentive. As for the food, everything I have ever had has been excellent. They make good fresh sushi, although a bit pricy and I especially love the Kani Su salad, also a bit pricing for the portion. The hibachi food is good and the fried rice is excellent. My Dad just got a house in Beacon Falls and we love asian fusion so we were very excited to find this place! Everything is super clean and staff is very friendly.Nice decor as well. We have been here 3 or 4 times and they already recognize us and say thank you for coming back. They have great lunch specials, good prices, and huge portions! They do hibachi style even though it is not at the table, they do it in the back and bring out the food to you. I also really love their miso soup! Miso soup is one of my favorite things and theirs is so tasty! The sushi is well made as well and there are many different options. You can either get traditional Chinese lunch like general tso's chicken, or you can get sushi, or a bento box. They have the biggest bento boxes I have ever seen and their teriyaki sauce is great! Karaku is fantastic. A really refreshing concept for Seymour and really well done. While I'm sure most of the seafood is frozen it's always "fresh". The grilled vegetables have a perfect texture. And, their Bento Boxes are a great idea, whether you're coming from the gym, or just looking for a light lunch. I don't know what makes their Hibachi options "Hibachi", but for all I know Hibachi means grilled in Japanese. Overall It's a great addition to the area, which has been lacking in any sort of culinary diversity. I'm proud to think that Karaku will enjoy a long run in Seymour and I doubt they'll ever serve pizza. read more

All of the food here was GREAT. Fresh sushi....I get salmon sashimi every time I eat sushi and it is a litmus test each time. They passed...it was delicious and fresh. I am not giving them 5 stars because there wasn't anything exceptional about the place but I did really like it. The servers were great, the sushi was great just nothing that realllllllly wowed me. Large portions and lots of options for rolls and food. A lot of the rolls sounded really good, unfortunately they're a little pricey though so I couldn't try a lot. I got the dragon roll- It was pretty good. My friend ordered the power roll and it was so good. I've never had coconut shrimp in sushi but highly recommend-the roll had rice paper and mango too as well as tobiko on the top. The drinks were very reasonably priced. Just ate here on Saturday night and have been sick as a dog ever since. The sushi is not fresh here, something was off about it when I was eating it but I was so hungry so I ate it anyway. Well I am finally getting around to reviewing Karaku, after dining here multiple times over the past couple of years. I really meant to write a nice review because of the number of pretty decent meals that we have had here. This WAS about the best that Seymour had to offer. However, I think the place recently must have changed hands. The friendly staff that used to work here were all gone and replaced with a somewhat less than friendly staff, on our last visit. The outstanding element of the staff was the young woman behind the counter that spent the better part of the evening literally shrieking in Chinese at a toddler that looked to be about 18 months old. This went on for most of the evening. Ok so that happens with "family" restaurants. But what about the food? DW and I both got sick for a couple of days from what was apparently some "off" crab or pseudo crab like meat. I had the Tom Yom seafood soup and DW had a bento box dinner with some sushi rolls that contained what must have been the same tainted crab like substance. About four hours later, we both had stomach cramps and other symptoms that need not be elaborated upon that lasted for the worse part of two days. So, as much as we liked the "old Karaku", I think we have made our last trip to the "new Karaku." read more

Great Asian restaurant, the food is always yummy! I've had the hibachi, teriyaki, and tempura dishes all of which were amazing. The sushi here is nothing special but not bad either, best to go with one of their other dishes tho if you're a picky sushi eater. The place is always clean and food tastes fresh.
