The people who know sushi know that Amai is in a league of its own. You really can't compare it to other sushi spots in the area, you'd have to drive to Greenwich or NYC to find something remotely close to this quality and even then, maybe and $$$$. This is the authentic, incredibly fresh sushi you crave, and fair warning: you will become addicted. We are so lucky to have a gem like Amai in Brookfield. Amber and Jerry are wonderful people who genuinely care about their customers, the quality of the food, and the experience they provide. If you're looking for quick, fast-food-style sushi, this isn't that and that's exactly the point. It's like comparing a McDonald's cheeseburger to a steakhouse burger. Sure, one may be faster and cheaper, and technically they're both burgers, but the quality and experience aren't comparable. Anyone who compares the two is insane. At Amai, the attention to detail makes all the difference. The fish is incredibly fresh and cut to order rather than prepped in batches in the back, and you can absolutely taste the difference. Once you've had sushi this way, it's hard to go back and settle for anything else. My husband and I are addicts. After closing for a few weeks of vacation, we practically broke down the door and have already gone two times this week. Thank you!!! read more

Wow ! Wow ! Best sushi I have ever eaten. The toro was melt in your mouth. So was the blue fin. Not a huge black cod lover but this was outstanding here. Started off with the tuna tar as well as the black cod , both delicious. I can not wait to come back here. In a food coma. Absolutely the freshest sushi I have ever had. A++++ read more

Wow!!! came here with my sushi, buddy, my son, and we were mesmerized by the quality of -Amai sushi. We began our night with two lychee martinis, which were delicious, then we got an order of their tuna tartare, which was scrumptious as well as scallion pancakes. We ordered a few rolls to share and devoured them. Very small place but they work their tables efficiently but the cadence is a little drawn oit but after devouring everything, it was worth the slow cadence! Look forward to our next venture here! read more

We went on a rainy Tuesday at 2 pm and had the whole place to ourselves. 1st time here. We ordered a pot of green tea and two rolls. The King crab roll $15. and the Amai (Chef's choice) roll. $25. My guy wanted to try that. We were disappointed with the roll because it had a bunch of chopped up fish. It tasted like a big mush. We were expecting something top quality. Usually top quality places give nice pieces of fish, not a mushy mess. The king crab was ok. nothing to rave about. My experience with king crab is nice pieces of sweet meat. This tasted like canned mushy crab. I would go back if I am in the area to try again and order more wisely. read more

My wife and I eat here on average twice a week. Amai Sushi is, without question, one of the best sushi restaurants in the Brookfield area. The fish is exceptionally fresh, the presentation is beautiful, and every dish is prepared with great attention to detail. The staff is warm, welcoming, and happy to offer recommendations, making every visit feel special. Whether you're enjoying classic nigiri, creative specialty rolls, or the omakase experience, the quality is consistently outstanding. If you're looking for authentic, high-quality sushi, Amai Sushi is a true hidden gem and well worth the visit. read more

BEST sushi! Legit made rice and fresh fish. Ordered delivery; but if they sushi looked this good - I imagine the onsite location is superb. Prompt service and packaging was perfection. Don't want to lose this place to the Asian mixtapes that seem to overwhelm Danbury. Hope they offer omakase menu! read more

Such a satisfying place! The Nigiri was great, my King crab roll was on the money, and the Maki, with a ton of seaweed salad, was very satisfying! I'll be back when cutting through Brookfield! read more

Small sushi place, but the quality of Fish is 10 star. I drive 2 hours to NYC for sushi as I don't really eat around here but today one of my friend recommended this place and I am really impressed from the quality fish they serve here. Clean place, sushi can be pricy here but hey it is what it is. I highly recommend this place for sushi . We will be back again. Nice job read more

This is not your mall sushi kiosk! Amai Sushi is a destination restaurant. Refined, not flashy. Simply the best Sushi I've had outside of NYC. Quality is superb, Amber and Jerry are great hosts. Highly recommended! read more

We ordered from here with Uber Eats. It arrived quick which was good. The portions were small for the price point. The tuna looked old, so we didn't eat it. The Shrimp Tempura roll and Spicy Kani Salad were good. If you order here, that's what I would suggest ordering. read more

Amai has some really, really good sushi. We were legitimately impressed, especially given how mediocre sushi is in this area generally. The prices are a little on the high side, even for sushi at this level, but at least you know you're paying for quality. We went on a weekday so it wasn't busy and got friendly, attentive service. Nothing in the area we've tried touches this place. I hope the locals embrace and support it. Highly recommend. read more

First a little context. I'm a big fan of Omakase. I expect it to be delicious, I expect it to be pricy, and I expect it to be expertly prepared. Typically to get decent Omakase I travel to Greenwich or to New York City. Recently it was brought to my attention that a nearby restaurant in Danbury/Brookfield serves good Omakase. I was skeptical. Nevertheless I jumped in my car and drove over there for lunch. My first impression was that I might be at risk. It is a typical strip mall style space, relatively small, and the Omakase bar only seats four - the remainder is table seating . It is not grandly appointed like some of the Greenwich places are. The miso soup was perfectly fine however it was very standard for what you might expect at any local Japanese place. Then came the Omakase. Guess what? It was expertly prepared and quite delicious. There was a very nice variety of quality fish. I have appended pictures so that you can get an idea of the presentation. And to top it off, while not inexpensive, it was appropriately priced. So all I can say is if you're a fan of Omakase and you're frustrated that it's hard to get in the local area, you now have an option that will save you the drive to Westport, Greenwich or New York City. And save you some $ as well. Final note, the service was attentive, my tea was kept topped up throughout the meal, and the sushi chef was a pleasure to watch work and told me what each piece was as he presented them. read more

I really wanted to like this place since we are in desperate need of a great sushi place here. But... We ordered take out perhaps that was the issue. They forgot half our order and we had to return to the restaurant to grab the rest. Spring roll app basic Cod app $22!!! For 2 bite size skewers. Very good but not for the price. Wish I took a pic. Poke bowl and Dream roll wreaked of fish. No one went there, except for husband. Miso soup average but tofu tasted funny too. Generous portion of pork in the Bao but soaking wet. Chicken Bento came with thigh meat, rice salad and 2 pieces of veges. Not impressed at all. The $15 PINT of soup consisted of a miso Broth, 2 shrimp, a scallop and 2 asparagus stems cut small. Again maybe take out wasn't the right road to take. Disappointed!! read more

Amai is wonderful, and so are the owners Amber and Jerry. We have had sushi in California, and all over the east coast as well, and they make the best sushi my husband and I have ever had. We always recommend the 5 or 10 piece chefs selection, but their rolls and appetizers are to die for as well. My husband and I go at LEAST twice a month, and I often get takeout for lunch, and we have never been disappointed. 10/10. read more

The sushi here is absolutely incredible, the freshest sushi I have had in the area! You need to try the Gyoza ( steamed), The Spicy Girl Roll, The American Dream Roll, completely melted in your mouth. We tried the Chirashi(12pcs) sashimi entree and every piece of fish selected was divine, my favorite being the king salmon. Definitely save some room to try some O- Toro Nigiri and the King crab to die for ! I will be coming back here for sure ! Pictured above is the Spicy Girl roll( inside spicy salmon, yellowtail and avocado topped with spicy tuna) and Blue Fin Tuna Nigiri read more

Amai Sushi - a man sitting at a table with two trays of sushi - Poke Near Me - Brookfield, Connecticut

If you're looking for high quality sushi in the area, Amai is the place to go. The fish is incredibly fresh and the service is relaxed. You can't go wrong with the rolls but if you're really looking for a treat, ask the owner (Amber) what she recommends. We dined here recently and had live scallop, fatty tuna and A5 wagyu. The taste is comparable to what you would find in Westport, Greenwich or NYC, at a fraction of the cost and closer to home. This is my go to sushi spot in Northern Fairfield County! read more

The menu is pretty limited and the sushi wasn't made super well. Also, some rolls were extremely expensive for what they were ($15 for a California roll?). We were the only people there as well, and while the inside of the restaurant is beautiful the food didn't at all live up to expectations. read more
