Today was my first time trying Edo! It is such an intimate and cozy place. My server was extremely polite and personable. I ordered the bulgogi and kimchi jjigae to go. It's always interesting to see what kinds of banchan places offer, and I love that it's usually different each time. I absolutely loved the radish kimchi!! Such great flavor. The bulgogi was good, but it maybe needed a little more salt or something extra? It felt like it was missing just a tiny something. Still very pleasant overall! When I got home, I had to try the kimchi jjigae. Have you ever had something so insanely good it could make you cry?!? It tasted like it was made with so much love. There were so many different flavor profiles happening at once. It was a truly magical moment. I already know what I'm ordering next time I go, and I really hope the same chef is there. 10/10!!! read more

Best kani salad, bibimbap and bulgogi in the area! Sushi rolls are phenomenal and the place is always clean and neat! We love swinging by early and during the week as due to there small size it fills up quickly and we aren't a fan of take out for Asian food. It's always best when fresh in restaurant in our opinion! Have not been here for years so wanted to give it another chance. I go into NYC, Westchester and Jersey for Korean. One of my favorite cuisines. The pancakes were great. Not the usual thin crispy ones I am used to but still very good. The iced tea tasted old so could not drink it, and the beef had no salt. I took it home to add that. Small little family owned Japanese+ Korean spot that serves up some tasty meals with a nice variety and great presentation for sushi. Our family is used to some fancy nyc sushi and still loved this place. It's very small so just be aware that if it's a busy time there are not a lot of tables. They didn't have a wait for four of us on a Sunday night. There's a large menu with some delicious Korean offerings in addition to the sushi menu! This was a pleasant surprise! I came with my family for dinner, mainly because it's one of the only restaurants that's open late, and feasted on so many things. Everything was delicious. Definitely and your meal with some mochi. I loved my sushi roll, and appreciated how fresh the tuna tartare was. The pancake was so fragrant too! The place itself is quite small, so you may have to wait for a table if you have a lot of people, even though we got lucky with the table on a Thursday night with five people and a baby. This restaurant is right off the road and has a very small parking lot behind it, maximum maybe 3-4 standard sized cars. The interior is small, they've got 2 booths and about 5-6 normal tables. Partner and I came in for a late lunch about 3:30pm on a Thursday. We were the only patrons which was nice. We were greeted right away and picked our seats. I wish they offered complimentary tea or water but no big deal. Customer service was still super nice and attentive. For appetizers we ordered the fried gyoza. I ordered the Golden Bridge Sushi Roll and kimchi jigae, and my partner got miso soup, Snow White (yellow tail) and the Tuna Trio (spicy). The fried gyoza was super light and crispy. Honestly, the best gyoza I've ever had. The kimchi jigae for me wasn't as brothy as I would have liked, but they gave me plenty of pork that literally fell off the bone because it was so tender. My partner really enjoyed our lunch and we look forward to visiting one more time before our visit in Danbury ends. Highly recommend trying them out!! Everything we had was delicious!! My first time here. My 3 stars is really based on the value and wait time. Food was good. Value was average. I had two rolls and some sashimi for $75. I live closer to NYC which is my comparison so I thought it was a bit high. Service was very slow though. I was there for 1 hr 15 min and only ate for 15 of that. The rest was either waiting to be waited on, waiting to be served, or waiting again to be recognized that I was done. Had to ask for more tea, for a to-go container, for the check. It was weird. I thought someone was going to jump out and say "just kidding." And then there was a guy getting take out who ordered when I arrived and came back twice while I was there. He was still waiting when I left. But the chef (owner?) seem totally unphased and oblivious to how long everyone was waiting. No soup for you! read more

My daughter and I ate Edo II last night and I had high expectations because the reviews were very good but to me it was only average. I ordered the sushi deluxe, which was 10 pieces of sushi and a spicy tuna roll and they were pretty good. No complaints about the quality of the food except the sushi deluxe $36. I thought that was eight to $10 too high compared to what I'm used to paying for sushi. My daughter got a salmon roll, standard, and some sort of octopus salad. I didn't think there was enough octopus in the salad, I felt it was overdressed and not that great. It also pissed me off that I couldn't get a free glass of water, that I had to pay for a bottle of water which I refused to do. Tax and tip for an average meal was over 80 bucks for two people. The food is good, I won't be back because I think they're egregiously expensive. read more

Looking at other reviews and this place had high reviews. I had to try it myself.... And I was NOT disappointed. The goyza starter was so clean and delicate. Extremely crispy and perfectly fried up. As you can see from the photo it was a wonderful golden color and not saturated with oil. The meats inside were well seasoned and delicious. My coworker had the rainbow roll and Hawaiian roll. I had the Jodi roll and Golden Bridge. All of which were amazing. Everything tasted fresh and nothing fishy. The waitress was very sweet and extremely pleasant. The food was deliciously spicy, fresh, and to temperature. The ambiance is like an authentic small restaurant in the far East.

I stopped by at Edo II after doing some shopping at the Danbury Fair Mall. In times of COVID, they will only seat one table of an immediate family in the restaurant at one time. They take all necessary precautions including checking your temperature at the door and taking your information down for contact tracing. I was able to try the sushi - Kamikaze roll, as well as the Korean dishes including Mandooguk and the bibimbap. Everything was super fresh and tasted like it was homemade. The owner was really friendly and I believe his wife was doing the cooking. This is a great family-owned business in which I hope others can come together to support! read more

I genuinely enjoyed my visit to this little spot in Danbury. I was actually searching for an Indian restaurant and both of my targeted places turned out to be primarily markets, much to my irritation. I thought I might have to settle for a diner when this little establishment presented itself. What I thought was poor luck ended up to be quite fortuitous. The building was just a little crackerbox setting close to the road. The word cozy certainly applied. The interior could not handle much beyond 25 or 30 patrons. But I think the word intimate could also be used accurately to describe it and that's a big part of what made it memorable. The proprietor was behind the sushi bar when l walked in and he greeted me quickly. There were only two other parties at the time I visited at around 8 PM on a Thursday so finding a table was not a problem. My order was taken right away by the gentleman behind the sushi bar. He was very engaging and, as such, I thought the service was very good during my entire visit. The menu offered several Japanese and Korean favorites. I started with the Tako Salad. This was a spicy concoction that featured octopus. It was excellent. For my main, I opted for the Bibimbap with Chicken. It was also terrific and, of course, was quite generous in terms of portion. With green tea to drink, my final bill was about $33 including tax and tip. I had no qualms about this as I thought this was a good value. The next time I am in the area, I will consider dining here again as I was positively impressed. If you are in the neighborhood and fancy Japanese or Korean fare, I would not hesitate to recommend giving this place a try. read more

Continuing to try out the Asian options in the Danbury region, five of us came here on a weekend around six pm. The restaurant is tiny-- there are perhaps a total of seven tables all squeezed together, and no protection from the outside cold air when someone comes in. Menu is primarily Japanese, but the owner is Korean, so there are a smattering of acceptable if not remarkable Korean dishes on the menu. Food is fresh, but quite expensive for what you get... smaller portions at very high prices. I think the owner was bored, for he interrupted our meal several times to make small talk, even once criticizing my young son for some small issue, which left me a bit shocked and unsure of how to address the situation. I chalked it up to first generation Korean father overstepping his boundaries; he may have felt comfortable doing so since we're an Asian family ourselves, but it pretty much set the tone for the night. When he wasn't being a gracious host, he stood a foot behind my wife with his arms crossed, watching the television on the wall over her head. Again, personal boundaries. He thanked us when we left and asked us to return, but with a low triple-digit bill and the experience, we won't. read more
