    Crispy duck pao buns

Went here with my wife on a Saturday evening. Started off with the crispy duck pao buns, steamed pork dumplings and fried calamari all were good, especially the calamari. Wife had the Hawaii roll which she enjoyed very much, nice sauce. I had the red lobster roll which I didn't care for, It was a little warm and mushy. Carrin was our waitress and she was very helpful with the menu and prompt with service not rushed. Nice atmosphere and service and good food.

Another great experience with great food! Never had the ramen and definitely will. I believe it was the spicy miso with pork. We really enjoyed our sushi. Only complaint is the steak was chewy.

In a city like NYC where there are not only excellent Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai restaurants, but regional variations of all of the above, Yoko would be a non-starter, probably a one to three on the Yelp star system depending on your level of generosity. In New Milford (whose charms are many, but largely center on areas other than regional Asian cuisine), Yoko is among the better places in the vicinity.* I always find it hard to fairly review places like this.... *I'm thinking of the eastern part of Connecticut between New Milford to the north and Danbury to the south. Thoughts: Neutral - The menu is extremely wide ranging, offering everything from sushi and ramen, to soup dumpling and char siu buns, to Thai curries. Pros - The most successful offerings we've tried have been the grilled options. We happened upon well made grilled octopus and lamb on our first visit. These remain our favorites. Sushi rolls are fair, made with non-fishy tuna, yellowtail and the like, among the better renditions to be found in the area. We've never sat at the sushi bar. The chefs there seem nice / competent. - The decor really is pleasant if kitchsy. We enjoy the irregularly shaped tree-cross sectional tables to the right when you enter the restaurant. If I were 16 again, I would take all of my dates there to impress. If I were in my 20s or 30s again, this would be a good place for a first date. - Despite the occasional cons in service (see below and prior review), wait staff are generally competent, friendly and polite. I like that the women and men who work here carry themselves with a sense of dignity. - Bathrooms (extremely important to me if you're at all familiar with my reviews) are clean. - The rice used in maki-zushi is surprisingly well made in our experience. I'm quite picky about sushi rice. Whoever is making this stuff at Yoko knows what (s)he is doing in terms of rice type, cook time, and seasoning, all of which are completely competent. I haven't tried the nigiri so have no opinion on how it's packed/shaped/held at temperature in that context. Cons: - Even the well made (e.g. grilled) dishes are somewhat Sysco-esque / Disney-esque in quality, what you might find at a Cheesecake Factory or Olive Garden of pan-Asian food. There's a baseline level of quality and skill in the preparation that is never awful. But sauces are corn syrupy and there are many liberties taken in terms of authenticity and ingredients that are straight from a jar / bucket. I suppose it's not surprising given what a huge culinary geography this restaurant attempts to cover. - Ramen comes with a lovely soft boiled soy egg, an overexuberant amount of bean sprouts, a bit of bamboo shoots. Noodles are a crimped variety (a bit low brow, more akin to Top Ramen than Ichiran), made to a pleasantly firm texture. All doable up to this point. However, the all-important broth is almost certainly made from a Knorr's-like reconstituted bouillon powder, doctored with additional ingredients. Good ramen joints make their broths from scratch. The difference in quality is drastic. - We once ate there with our pup on the attractively decorated patio and were chased away by wasps, drawn by the nearby dumpster I think. Not a pleasant experience, especially since the extremely non-helpful waitresses on that visit tried to gaslight us about the wasps. We gave the restaurant a long rest after that incident. --- TLDR: Will we be back? Probably, given that we have few options in the area for this kind of food. Is it a place we'll seek out? Only if we're away from NYC for an extended period of time.

We always crave ramen when it rains and it sure has been a rainy two months. We discovered Yoko by accident and what a win for us. The Tonkotsu ramen broth had a great depth of flavor and really rich and makes you feel warm each slurp. Hands down the best bao we've ever had. Soft shell bao is a must and the sushi roll complimented the meal. Service was very friendly and quick! A must if you are in the north Danbury area.

The best service and food quality you'll ever find. I lie awake thinking about going back to this restaurant. Please come by and try literally anything and you'll be amazed, I go and get something new all the time and have yet to be disappointed. If you are interested in an appetizer my favorite is the curry mussels and the soft shells crab buns. Their ramen is top tier as is however I love kimchi and eggs so I'll always add that. Also do yourself a favor and get the fluke sashimi because you will never get over that tho and chefs are so talented and actually know who to sever you any type of sashimi your heart desires. I can't ever go and not get sushi but if you aren't so much of a fan the pineapple fried rice (we do chicken and shrimp) and a fam favorite with my toddlers. I can literally go on and on about this place but it is fantastic and beautiful so much so I got engaged there.

Stopped by on a Friday night for a quick bite with 3 others. We grabbed a table immediately, not crowded. I ordered the Chashu Buns and the Tonkatsu Ramen. The Chashu Buns were delicious with tender pork, a good amount of sauce, on a fluffy bun. This was solid and I very much recommend buns for anyone as an appetizer, whether they be the Chashu or any of the others. The ramen is a better bang for your buck than the buns, but they were very tasty and worth the splurge. The ramen was solid as well. The eggs were a little overcooked, so the yolk was more crumbly than creamy, but they didn't detract from the overall bold flavor and tasty ingredients in the dish. There was a good amount of tender pork in here as well. Very good! Value: 4/5 Quality: 4/5 Quantity: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

Weekday early evening dinner while visiting my Auntie. She has frequented many times, but it was my first. Gyoza was good, and our very accommodating server had 1/2 steamed for me and the other half pan-fried for my Auntie. Came out perfect. Spring rolls had good taste. Ordered Crab Soup Dumplings - a first - and had to be taught how to eat them. Interesting concept and a substantial amount of meat filling. Nice flavor, just wasn't my favorite thing we ate. The pineapple fried rice was to DIE for, and once again, our different tastes were accommodated - shrimp & chicken. Flavorful, rice wasn't sticky, chicken was tender and tasty, and most of all, I couldn't tell the huge shrimp that came with the dish (which my aunt pronounced amazing) had been cooked in the dish! Bonus! Would totally return and totally recommend.

My girlfriend loves ramen and other soups. I do, too. I'd always suggested we stop in here, and I'm glad we finally did! It's got an interesting vibe, somewhere between Asian fusion chic and the inside of the USS Chowder Pot local chain of restaurants. This isn't a complaint; it works very well. We started with the crispy chicken bao and spicy edamame. Both were amazing. I'm not an edamame fan, but the spices are a big help. For dinner, I ordered the J Ramen. It's a classic hearty ramen, but it comes with a piece of bone-in fried duck sticking out of the broth. Duck is a very rich meat, so it was quite the treat for me. The soup was wonderfully done with a naturally-thick bone broth. Somehow, the duck was still crispy despite being submerged. Why did we never come here sooner? Now the question is, when are we going back?

I love this spot. Every time I go, the food is amazing, the specials are innovative and the staff is great. We tried the special desserts Yuzu Cheesecake and Amaretto Ice Cream and both were incredibly delicious. The meals are consistently good and flavorful and there is yet to be anything there that I've tried that I haven't liked. I recommend this restaurant to everyone looking for tasty, authentic local ramen. The scenery is mesmerizing yet serene.

So I've been coming here every chance I get when I'm working within New Milford.. and I love the consistency of their spicy miso ramen. Today, I had it without the chashu pork but requested menma/bamboo shoots with extra broth and egg. OMG. Fantastic!!! I'm craving for it as I'm updating my review. I'm addicted!

This is a nice place. Restaurant has a modern bright atmosphere. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Food looked and tasted amazing. The menu is extensive and the pictures of the dishes made ordering "difficult" because everything looked so yummy. Prices weren't bad either. Definitely will return.

I forget which.) Being CCSU s spring break, there wasn't much going on. That is, we saw a few pickups and DoorDash orders, but we had the full restaurant to ourselves. The waitress was quick, but the to-go orders left us waiting (totally normal, not a complaint.) First, the good: the ramen is a sizable portion. You can tell it's all made from scratch. It's not the saltiest thing you'll ever eat. The spicy is actually spicy, if you mix in all the chili paste they leave resting on the fish cake. I grabbed my chopsticks and dug in, and I was glad I got the $3.50 milk tea on the side (you get it for cheap with a bowl), though I found it very sweet. The pork in my ramen was crispy on the sliver of crust, and the rest was cooked to perfection. Many other places can do it like that, but if they'd messed that up, they'd lose some points. The bad is a very short list. Our ramen had vermicelli or angel hair instead of, you know, ramen noodles. Maybe that's their thing? All in all, a soup place next to the up-the-hill dorms is just what I needed decades ago. I'm rarely up that way these days, but I'd totally stop here even in the summer.

Driving into the plaza...the sidewalk is a bit lifted from the road, so expect it to be a bit bumpy coming in and out of the lot. Walking inside it was a cutely decorated shop with Anime themed wall art. There was a good amount of seating in this small shop as well. We sat down and ordered the iron man roll, so ramen roll, house ramen and Shabu Shabu beef ramen. It took about 20-39 mins for the food to come out but I believe there is just one cook working. The rolls were delicious and I really like their So Ramen roll. It was creamy and crunchy. My house ramen was also really good and I enjoyed it. My fiancé thought his ramen was a bit bland. But that might just be his opinion on ramen overall. Each item runs about $14 to $20 each. So a meal for 2 can run you about at minimum $40. Overall we enjoyed our time here and would come back.

I am so glad I went, and yet, so disappointed that I've lived/worked in the area for a year and tonight was only my first visit. From the exterior, it looks like your run-of-the-mill strip mall sushi joint. And, to be honest, the interior decor did nothing to break that stereotype - however, we go to restaurants to eat the food, right? Not obsess over fake bamboo plants and mini cherry blossoms :) Unlike the insipid strip mall sushi I have been eating in other towns, this food was outstanding. My order: Shrimp shumai - I am addicted to this dish in general. I have to order it everywhere. I know I shouldn't as they're small and don't pack the punch the $7-$10 menu price commands - but still, like a moth to a flame, I'm incapable of saying no. These were better than most places - but still small and inhaled so quickly, my waitress didn't have to return for my plate - she just took it. I then got the blackened tuna sashimi salad - FANTASTIC. I wish I got 2. Fresh, flavorful. Really what I was looking for (I did ask for a side of wasabi). Rounding out appetizers was the tuna sushi pizza my colleagues rave about. It was really good. Like a deconstructed tuna/avocado roll. Delicious. But I felt silly eating something with my hands at a sushi joint. I'll likely pass on that next time and save the room for an additional roll. Entree was a Spicy Girl tuna roll and a Blackened Tuna roll. Both were excellent. I wish I could still be enjoying them. If you have not yet been - go! If you have not, don't live with the regret I do by putting it off. You'll enjoy it. Ps- they have a seemingly well appointed full bar with all you'll need or want. I do not drink, all I can tell you about their beverage program is the lemon in my Diet Coke was fresh! Enjoy
