Tried again, not much has changed Been a while, decided to come in again and get some of their other dishes. The entrance and actual restaurant are still not easy to spot. The dining area is still very sparse in design and coverage. The wait staff were still apathetic, and the wait times for things is still a little long. The Korean fried chicken was very tasty, sweet and salty Korean bbq sauce on perfectly fried wings was delightful. We opted for the pho, and that was very good. The broth was rich and flavorful, no need to season it was perfect already. The brisket was tender and still had a strong brisket flavor. There was a good amount of meat to the bowl and the noodles were fresh. The noodles did clump a bit, but they easily separated when agitated. All of the sushi was not as successful. The rolls lacked any significant flavor and missed some basic elements of sushi preparation. The rice was not seasoned, was not sticky, and the fish was roughly cut. The spicy rolls lacked spice and the crunchy rolls lacked crunch. It was presented well, just didn't show the level of care the front of the menu had. We informed our server of the sushi problems and she apologized but still charged us for all the sushi. Making an otherwise great experience not so great. I would recommend those who come here to focus on the front of the menu exclusively. Those dishes are stellar and are well worth the asking price. The sushi menu on the back is basic in flavor, pricy, and only worth having if you really need sushi. It does limit their menu significantly, but the quality difference is drastic.

Tiger Belly Noodle Bar is a nice casual spot to stop in for some sushi, ramen, bao, and more. The prices are very fair, and the BYOB policy helps keep costs down, making it an even better value. Plus, there's a convenient spot just about 100 yards away where you can pick up wine, beer, or other drinks to bring along. The ramen was good and definitely worth the price, although we felt the broth could have had a bit more depth of flavor compared to some of our other favorite spots for similar dishes. The East Windsor specialty sushi roll was a standout, and we're excited to try one of their poke dishes next time. The pork belly bao were a definite winner and a highlight of the meal. Stop by if you haven't. If it's your style of food and reasonably local to you, I'd be surprised if it doesn't work its way into the rotation.
Read great reviews and saw delicious pictures online of this place. I bookmarked it and have been trying to get here for a while. The front entrance was locked with a sign saying to use the side door. The interior was very minimalistic. I was greeted right away and I asked if they had a high chair, which they did. We were seated and brought waters right away. They didn't have a children's menu so I ordered my toddler ramen and broth which they happily obliged; this was $10 for anyone wondering. My husband and I shared two sushi rolls which was a lunch special; Philadelphia Roll and eel/avocado roll, both were fresh and tasty. My main course, "the Darkness Ramen", in tonkotsu broth, pork belly, fried garlic, ajitama cured egg, bean sprouts, green onions, bamboo shoots, kikurage earwood mushroom with black garlic oil. The pork was very tender and melted in my mouth and the egg had a unique flavor; every flavor intermingled perfectly. I'm more of a fan of tangy and spicy flavors but I'm glad I got to try this out. I'm looking forward to going back to try out their wings, other entrees, and sushi.

Darkness Ramen still as good as before. The ox tail add on option is gone but the eel sashimi is almost as good. It lost a star because the service now is a bit lacking, especially the waitresses sits with her back to the customers so she can't see the needs & pretty much ignored customers after sitting them down. The server that came out of the kitchen is much harder working & much more pleasant.
Delicious ramen. The meat is so tender. This place has expanded since I have last came so lots of seating. Very quick service - no real long wait as they turn the tables quickly. Quality of ramen is amazing- one of the best ramen places in the area - recommend
The food is amazing we had it twice in 1 month, although it is a drive for us. It is definitely worth going to. How can you not say no to what I think is one of the best Ramen in CT. At least this is currently on top of my list. The service is excellent as well. Am ok with the blank space. I am there for the food and how clean it is and how the service regardless if it is full or not it is the same. Definitely a must.
This is a little place in a shopping mall that goes beyond your normal sushi and pho. It is ascetically modern without a lot of frills. I think that it is done on purpose so you focus on the food We started with the dumplings that were quite plumb and fried lightly with an amazing dribbled sauce over them. Very tasty. The pork banh bao buns were soft and fluffy for the buns and juicy and tender for the pork. Wow. Excellent. The sushi was fresh and imaginative. They had so many unique offerings to try. I had the blacken pho which was so satisfying. The broth was cooked for over 15 hours and resulting in a truly satisfying dish. Definitely will come back. It's BYOB so bring your favorite beverage. Our server was very attentive and happy to see you satisfied.
Tiger belly has a great menu at such a fantastic price! The portion size is quite large and the flavor of everything was great, I especially loved the texture of the pork belly in the donburi rice bowl, it was super crispy and flavorful. The pork belly in the ramen was extremely tender and delicious. Service was also really fast and the interior was modern and cute. read more
Food is so amazing ! A must try ! I will defiantly be making this place my regular visit. We went into the wrong door up front that leads into the kitchen . The entrance is actually on the side with no sign, so don't make the same mistake . Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful helping us decide what we wanted giving us tips. So I would say service was exceptional. Establishment is also clean and up kept. read more

The food is amazing we had it twice in 1 month, although it is a drive for us. It is definitely worth going to. How can you not say no to what I think is one of the best Ramen in CT. This place was recommended and was also highly spoken about. Now I see why ! Love that the menu has things labeled GF, place is small, clean and just cozy . I thought they were going to have more options of pho but they had a variety of dishes that covers everyone's needs , sushi, poke bowls, apps, GF, vegetarian and more. I had the Pho and Brisket and it was just perfect. Soo tender! It's just that time of year to have it! Flavorful and more than enough. There was many great variety of sushi to choose from. That actually was our app and shared some rolls. Would definitely come again if I'm In the area and would recommend this place! read more

On a cold and blustery day in early December what could be better than an order of Pho? I tried their Pho & Brisket made with 16 hour Vietnamese bone beef broth and pork, assorted veggies and egg. This is a fabulous dish! The broth is rich with a deep flavor of beef that hits the spot on a cold day. The pork was a little crispy on the outside and tender inside. I added an order of Bao buns (2) that had soft, pillowy buns stuffed with pork belly, lettuce, cucumber, and spicy mayo. Very good. Tiger Belly is worth the visit and the food worth coming back read more

Tiger Belly Noodle Bar's new dining room reminds me of a blank canvas. This blank canvas is filled by the art of noodle bowls, fluffy bao buns and crispy chicken wings. In a sense, yes the dining room is extremely clean in both ways. Extremely minimalistic and of course, spotless. I guess that's what I meant by blank canvas. The only color was the beautiful food a couple paintings on the wall. I felt like I was in an art museum where you sit down and get served tastefully artistic food that paints the inside of your mouth with flavors you don't deal with on a daily basis. I went with the Brisket Pho and the woman ordered the "Darkness" Ramen Bowl. It's a bowl of Tonkotsu if you were wondering but I'll go with the "Darkness". Kinda spooky but I like it. My Brisket Pho was like no other that I have ever had. This brisket had an amazing smokeyness to it and it came it large buttery slices. Melted in my mouth, barely any chewing necessary. BUTTER I tell you. The Tonkotsu Ramen had a nice creaminess I the broth and it was accompanied by once again, buttery pieces of shoyu. The noodles had that nice ramen chew and the egg was runny. Now these double fried chicken wings had this beautiful texture on the outside. This light, chewy and crunchy outer layer that we expect from asian chicken wings was 100% present. That green onion and sesame seed garnish......also present. Were they perfect? In my opinion, YES. Beautiful, tasty and unique food. Oh and the service was great too! If you're looking for a simple, clean and modern place to eat the most popular asian soups in America with some refreshing flavors added to it, this is your place. Barebones Japanese spot that is absolutely delicious! The place has no decorations whatsoever, and they have a very small menu (excluding their large menu of sushi options) with only a few entrees but I was very impressed with my food I ordered their ramen dish that has meat in it, and it was fantastic. Their was tons of flavorful noodles, meats, and veggies inside of it The ramen was also prepared very quickly as well In addition to food, the place has a few different drink options. We traveled 1.5 hours to go here since I've had it saved forever. We came for lunch (12:30) on a Saturday, and it was a great time to go since plenty of seating available. APPETIZER: 5/5 We had the 9 spice fried chicken they were so crispy, perfect seasoning and spice. I'd eat this as an entree if they had it. PHO: 5/5. We had 2. The Brisket Pho was amazingly tender brisket and The Darkness Ramen was so flavorful and both were filling. SUSHI: 5/5. We had the Hangover Roll, Alaska, salmon and Tuna rolls. As my wife, our dog Pasta and I neared the end of our Farmington Canal Heritage Trail walk in Simsbury, I contemplated how to cherry-top a Five Star ice cream sundae of a terrific Saturday morning that also included high end pastries, a dog park and arguably CT's best coffee. I remembered that we were near one of my Yelp Bookmarks -- Granby's Tiger Belly Noodle Bar. I initially bookmarked Tiger Belly for its ramen. Slurping broth and wet noodles at a picnic table while corralling an 80 pound dog seemed problematic. I remembered that Yelpers also love Tiger Belly for its sushi. Add two more to Tiger Belly's big sushi fan list. Tiger Belly is one business in a series of buildings in Granby perpendicular to Routes 10/202. I walked through the takeout door to order so I didn't see the main dining room. Service was friendly and helpful. In terms of time, they under-promised and over-delivered. They text when your order is ready. We ordered the 3 roll Maki lunch special with spicy salmon, sweet potato tempura and peanut avocado. It also came with a leafy house salad served with a tasty above average ginger dressing. In addition, we ordered an East Windsor Specialty Roll, which included peppered tuna, King Crab and avocado. This is a fairly common mix for my wife and me because she likes some non-fish rolls, we both like spicy salmon and we like to try at least one specialty roll. We ate at an outside table. Excluding one very expensive New Haven sushi restaurant, Tiger Belly's rolls bested any sushi I've had from similarly-priced places this year. The sweet potato tempura had a deeper flavor and better crunch. The avocado seemed fresher and the peanuts crunchier. The spicy salmon rolls had better color, consistency and flavor. The East Windsor Roll, topped with its broad stripes of green avocado and tuna maroon, and accented with sauce, looked beautiful and tasted fresh and delicious. I was hoping Tiger Belly would put the cherry on top of a great ice cream sundae of a Saturday. They in fact gave us, an entire second delicious ice cream sundae, every bit as good as everything that preceded on that day. Five Stars read more

It was a Friday night and we had 4 with no reservation and they were able to get us in. We didn't order sushi but the noodle bar menu was simple and highly effective. The darkness noodle bowl was probably one of the better things I've ever eaten.... Like WOW. The pho, rice bowl, bao, and dumplings were great. I love ramen & sushi and this place served both amazingly. It was a lady's Sunday Funday. Wine in the morning. Noodle Bar in the evening. I am so glad we came here. One of the ladies in the group recommended this spot and it's definitely a place to check out for very delicious sushi and flavorful ramen. read more
