We ordered: - mapo tofu: my friend got this and said it was excellent and that he had that tingly sensation around his lips while eating. - Hong Kong style wonton soup with roast duck: the broth was very flavorful and the duck had its crispy texture. The wonton were buried under all the other ingredients in the in bowl so by the time I got to them they were falling apart. - pineapple fried rice with Beijing roast duck: my friend orders this and she enjoyed it. Looking for Sushi while in the area, I was drawn in by the impressive menu selection at Windsor Asian Bistro and decided to give it a try. The interior is of a modern layout and well staffed. I got a seat at the sushi bar and ordered the Yellowtail Carpaccio, Sashimi Deluxe, Ama Ebi Nigiri, Yellowtail Nigiri and a hot tea. The sashimi slices were all very proper along with the plating and presentation of the dishes. Visually, the food is a 10/10. After tasting each dish, it was the complete opposite. The tempura came with teriyaki sauce instead of tempura sauce. It also tasted like they used old oil. The mapo tofu violated my taste buds with the amount of peppercorn and vinegar added. The crab ragoons are just cream cheese in a dumpling wrapper (0 seasoning). The kung pao chicken and string bean chicken tasted the exact same which was just soy sauce and sugar. Should've just said they were both teriyaki sauce at that point. Also, got the drunken noodles. I wish I was drunk before I ate them because it tasted like they just poured their sweet sour sauce from the crab ragoons on it. The basil fried rice was okay, but nothing special. The coconut curry tasted like red curry except with more coconut milk and less seasoning and curry paste. It seems like this resteraunt has 3-4 basic sauces and that they pour over different combinations of vegetables and meat and label it different as everything sadly tastes the same. Service was good, but that was not enough for us to want to come back again. In summary, they offer a wide range of Asian cuisine, but do not do them well. Windsor Asian Bistro is one of our favorite dinner spots. The servers are always friendly. Annie did a wonderful job making sure we were aware of our food options. We ordered the veggie tempura appetizer, a Windsor Box with teriyaki salmon, and a hibachi dinner with salmon. Both meals came with miso soup and a ginger salad. The food quality is excellent and well prepared. We enjoyed the meal and would order all dishes again. We did ask for a to go box and a little bit of extra teriyaki sauce because we felt the salmon was under sauced. We were charged $1.50 for the less than a Dixie cup full of sauce. Feels like a local place where you might run into someone you know but can also be intimate at the same time. Our server was great. She offered us a special app and we jumped on it along w edamame. This was our go to for years. The quality started to dip a bit so we stopped going. Decided to give it another chance and what a disappointment. The fried calamari was always one of our favorites, but has since been changed to long strips of mystery chewiness. The general tso chicken wasn't even equivalent to what one would get at the mall food court. The sushi was always very good but the portions now seem small and didn't have the same, clean, fresh taste they once had. I'm not trying to bash the establishment by any means, but food quality has definitely taken a backseat in my opinion. read more

This is a great little spot, and part of a family of restaurants with similar menus in Granby and Simsbury. Each was is similar but different. We decided to try our normal order here that we get at Table 570 or Han. The fried dumplings were very good but the dipping sauce was a bit lacking flavor, the bbq ribs are sweeter than the other spots. The biggest difference was the chicken. The other locations serve almost a flat strip of chicken vs this one which is like a fried chicken meatball. The sesame sauce is also different and again sweet. Service was prompt and we were seated quickly. Overall this is a good little spot but I think their Simsbury location is the winner read more

I was in town for business and was looking for an Asian style restaurant. I happened upon this restaurant on Yelp and decided to give them a try. I came in hungry and was seated quickly and provided a menu. The server came and took my order. I order a tuna tataki app and then a sashimi platter. All delicious. I had the lunch portion of Thai basil fried rice with pork, which was just the right size, studded with plenty of pork, egg, and vegetables. Their sushi menu is pretty huge, the lunch portion being eight pieces of your choosing, in our case spicy salmon and tuna/avocado. Steamed dumplings were perfect for sharing. Inside, a very well put together and pretty space. Food-wise, a very well put together Asian restaurant. We happened to be in the area and saw that this specific location had a lot of good reviews. So we decided to give these guys a try, get some sushi and see if there's anything unique about this place. The inside is put together incredibly well. This place is very pretty and very modern in it's design. High-backed black booths, open dividers between dining and bar, everything was relatively clean and maintained, overall the decor of this place is leaps and bounds better than many places I have been. I got the lunch portion of crab rangoons and chicken fingers with a side of brown sauce. Girlfriend gets the jalepeno lovers appetizer for us to share, and I get the tuna tataki and tamago sushi to check their quality. One of my tests is to order an uncommon sushi from most places, to check the quality and preparation of the rice. Also to see how they treat less ordered items. Tamago sushi if done well is slightly warm, firm but not rigid, with just a touch of sweetness. sometimes offset with a little spice, and the sushi rice compliments those light and subtle flavors. The tamago here was prepped in advance, cold and very firm. Rice was cooked correctly, but not seasoned. So it was cold firm egg on rice, which was not a great bite The Jalepeno lover was very tasty though. spicy, crispy, had a good amount of tuna and cream cheese to offset the heat. I actually really enjoyed that bite. The biggest flop for me was the crab rangoon. I actually really do like crab rangoons, but they usually skirt a line of either very savory with green onion or very sweet (I prefer savory, since lots of places use a sweet duck sauce). This one was kind of bland, not really crispy, and not a lot of crab. So it was just not great. The rest was done fairly well. The honey ginger tea was relatively tasty if not a little heavy on the ginger. hot and sour soup was a little thick but had good flavor. I did enjoy their rendition of a brown sauce, which was a little heavier on the garlic than I anticipated but still really nice. I rate this place a 3 because although there was a lot of technical flaws, the staff was nice, the owner was more than understanding when it came to our issues, and the decor is very much a fancy date night location. If you were looking for a place to get drinks and some basic eats, this place is an easy recommendation. Utensils were clean, and for seating there were tables with couches/benches on one side and chairs on the other. I love this place!! I work in Windsor two days a week and I can order a quick lunch online and zip over to WAB to nab it and you know what, the food is quite delicious. For me, I really like the options on the menu, which is HUGE. There's more than 20 appetizers, from shumai to ribs to crab rangoon to negimaki. Then there's a sushi appetizer section, then sushi, entrees, hibachi and my favorite part...the lunch specials section. I like variety so I really love that I can get an affordable lunch with either a Thai noodle spin or sushi or something sort of standard like chicken with garlic sauce. My husband had the hibachi chicken, which was tasty and he enjoyed it. I had the salt and pepper shrimp, which was very different from what I was expecting. There were nice large shrimp but they had been coated in a tasteless cornstarch batter rendering them inedible. There was no salt or pepper that I could find. I tried seasoning them with soy sauce and chili sauce and finally my husband just pulled all the coating off of the shrimp and that was an improvement. Disappointing for sure! read more

File this under "what once was is no longer there. ". So when my husband rolled up to thos restaurant over Christmas I did a double take. I had previously been there when it was called something different and given it a horrible Yelp review (I checked). BUT much to my surprise the name has changed and with it the food is far more superior than what was once there. A mixture of Thai and Japanese food is covers in a menu that hits all the right notes. On our recent visit I ordered the fresh spring rolls (so good) and the Japanese Pancake. Both with dipping sauce that complemented it well.
