Dined in at Kaliubon in Wethersfield today and it did not disappoint. The place was full, but somehow still calm and quiet; which I actually loved. It had a lively energy without feeling chaotic. I ordered the beef ramen and added shrimp, and everything came out in under 10 minutes. The broth had a really nice depth of flavor with a mild kick; not overpowering, just enough warmth. The beef was tender, the shrimp addition was worth it, and the portion size was generous. The space itself is clean and modern. I appreciated being able to see the kitchen area and the bar setup; everything looked organized and well run. The booth seating was comfortable, and overall it felt like a great spot for a casual lunch or relaxed dinner. Definitely a place I'd come back to.
This was the first time I've visited here. Their menu is on the smaller side but there are still many options to choose from. We had the pork baos as an app and it was amazing. Tender and delicious! The ramen was fantastic and they were accommodating when we asked to remove the peanuts from one of the ramens. Staff was very polite. The space is a decent size and we didn't have a wait time to be seated. 10/10 would recommend.
FOOD: This place has the best by far ramen soup, it's so fresh!! Whenever I go here I get the pork bao. I sometimes dream about it & then I gotta have it! That's how good it is! THE SERVICE: The service is always friendly whether I'm by myself or with friends, also always quick! AMBIANCE: You can get a beer at the bar or go into the dining room & get lunch or dinner. It doesn't matter, it pretty chill here. Nice relaxed place for a date, great place to go with friends, either way works well. PRICES: I mean it all fresh, made to order. You can get boba & 2 bao for like $20 with tip. Do you want good or do you want cheap? It might be a little less than that actually. I love this place!
Love Kaliubon in Wethersfield and so does everyone else! We went on a Thursday night and the place was full within the first 1/2 hour of opening! I ordered their tofu bao with tofu, cucumber, carrot, daikon and guacamole (make this dish vegetarian by having them hold the hoisin BBQ sauce, which has fish). They were so yummy! My main dish was a vegetarian ramen which had tofu, mushroom, arugula and more! Delish! My husband is vegan so the Kaliubon staff was very nice about removing the garlic sauce from their Crispy Tofu Poke Bowl. The sweet chili sauce in this bowl is vegan so it had a lot of spicy flavor! This place is near our house so I predict we will be going here more often for sure!
I've driven by Kaliubon many times and always wanted to try them. My husband and I finally ordered via DoorDash instead of dining-in since we were both under the weather. We shared an order of the Korean Wings, I had the Tokyo Chicken Ramen, and my husband had the Curry Chicken Ramen. We both agreed the servings were big and the broth (not pictured) of each one was savory and delicious. The wings were nice and meaty, with the right amount of spice. We would like to try dining-in next time!
Went to a lunch date here and it was great. I usually go to the one in West Hartford but we think this one is much better. Parking was easier to find. We were greeted and sat down quickly. I noticed there was some trash under the table like pieces of napkins and the host saw it but sat us there anyways. But I didn't mind it. We ordered dumplings and two bowls of ramen. The dumplings were good and I like the sauce that comes with it. It was pretty slippery so it was hard to get with chop sticks. I got the kaliubon ramen and enjoy the peanut butter flavor to it. It was a savory ramen. The pork in my ramen was delicious and tender. My partner enjoyed his beef ramen and stated the beef is better than the one in West Hartford. Overall we had a satisfying meal and will come again.
I love it here! This was my third time visiting, and the food has been delicious every single time. I came with a group of 11 people tonight, and the service was still incredibly quick and lovely. I ordered the TanTan Mazemen and the Fried Calamari, which were both delicious. I also tried the brown sugar milk tea with tapioca--the boba itself was great, though the drink was a little heavy on the milk and light on the brown sugar. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, and the overall vibe is perfect--super casual but nice. Highly recommend!
The kids ramen bowl that I got was incredible, the hot chicken seafood broth with the noodles and chicken was nice. The restaurant itself was also clean although the booths were kind of small. The lights were also at a good dimness. Although service took a little longer, I understood because the restaurant did have quite a few families inside.
Kaliubon always hits! Perfect noodles, delicious broth, great flavors all around. I'm personally obsessed with the hot & sour ramen. I've enjoyed others I've had (the curry ramen is a close second), but I regularly crave the hot & sour. It's a little spicy, as you might have guessed, with the perfect tang from pickled green beans that help cut through the richness of the broth and braised short rib. A little crunch in some bites from the peanuts sprinkled on top makes it transcendental for me. Have also enjoyed their poke, dumplings, brussel sprouts, garlic edamame, and goma q (cucumber with sesame dressing). Services is always prompt and friendly. The restaurant is clean and cozy inside, which is exactly what I want when I'm slurping noodles. And while ramen is always best eaten there, they do a great job packing things up for takeout!
Hand crafted ramen? Say less! Immediately seated and taken care of right away. Plenty of seating and the food came quick. Got the Thai tea with boba, which was refreshing. Ended up getting the wonton ramen which was delicious and had plenty to fill me up!
Finally rating the Kalibu location in Wethersfield after dining in a few times and ordering out several more times. I will say this place is consistent and I've never had a bad meal. Considering all the different Ramen places in the area, I would say that this location in particular is one of my favorite. I love that they have a wonton Ramen option, as well as their angry wontons (Clearly give me all the wontons). But I also love their edamame as simple as it is. I love the spice on it. I appreciate their Goma cucumber salad, and the fact that this location has a bar for some sake and another cocktails and they even have Boba tea. Every time we do dine in the service is pleasant and efficient. It's become a rainy day spot for us, but we appreciate the team so much absolutely recommend visiting or ordering out when you can.
This place is always had great food. I got the chili chicken poke bowl. The flavors are fresh and delicious! It is always a great place to get really good food
Great service, great ramen, overall great experience Attempted to come to this place a few times before. Eash time, there was a significant wait so we tried someplace else. This time, we made a small trek during a slow time and managed to get quick seating. Inside is nice but a small location, about 20 tables and even with the off time most of them were filled. We sat and immediately were brought waters and dishes. The team is designed to be a brigade, with everyone participating in the service. This led to very quick service and easy access to a server. We got two ramens and a dumplings to share. The food took a couple minutes but we quickly had dumplings and soup and we took our pics and dug in. The dumplings were freshly made, loose but flavorful filling with a pool of sauce on the bottom for dipping. The wrapper was delightfully thin and the garnishes added little pops of texture and flavor which changed the flavor profile of the filling. Those were very good dumplings I got a truffle shoyu ramen. The noodles were freshly made, springy and a little chewy but a great sauce vessel. the toppings were plentiful, the shoyu pork wasn't the most tender but the pieces were nicely charred and sauces to be distinct in the dish. The broth started off as straight seafood broth, lots of briny umami but little depth. Once I mixed the truffle scoop in, the flavor really bloomed. Now the broth had an earthy, mellow base note which made the broth a surf and turf umami bomb. It was very tasty, and the best ramen I've had in ct. Price is not bad, $55 for two bowls, add on wontons for the missus's soup and the appetizer. For the quality, the price is really good for what you get. It's easy to understand why this place is as busy as it gets. It's a great ramen shop and worth the trek to try. Delicious ramen done well and fast. read more
Came here for lunch on a weekend and the place was moderately busy, but plenty of open tables. Ambiance felt like a modern Japanese spot. Staff seated us quickly and were solid with service - orders were taken fast and food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Menu had a good selection of ramen and poke, what seems like their specialty, and we both got ramen. The broth was fine and taste was decent, nothing amazing but a solid spot for ramen in Connecticut. It satisfied the craving for sure! I wouldn't mind coming back if in the area again, but would probably stick to ramen just for comfort. read more

The food here was savory and delicious. The bowls were large for the ramen. I do wish the rolls from the appetizer would've been higher in quantity because they were so good I wanted more. Splitting between two people, we each only for one. Staff were quick to help and always checking in. The place is a bit small but they did have seating towards the end of the night when we went. Food didn't take too long to come out, so we were there less than an hour. It's definitely a cute place for a date read more

Stopped in right before 6pm. I think that is the turning point hour on Saturday. As soon as we sat down we noticed several more pistols showed up and were waiting to be seated. All the tables were full, which should tell you his good this ramen place is. Miso and tonkotsu ramen were great. They are very efficient, quick and organized. Very happy with our dining experience. read more

If kaliubon is only 15-20 minutes away from me, I'll be here every week.. sadly it's almost an hour drive but so worth it. The best tonkotsu ramen!! BF had tokyo chicken ramen, it's good if you like a light bowl of ramen and don't like pork, but the tonkotsu for me is the best here. He's not a fan of pork but when he tried what I got, chashu and broth, he loved it, so next time. Dumplings were the bomb as well. Service is always on point and I can't wait to be back!! read more

I love this ramen spot! The flavors in the ramen are so flavorful! I always get a melon boba with a beef ramen! Definitely recommend for those who wanna get into ramen or who like ramen! Only thing is sometimes the food is lukewarm or cold. The service is amazing and it's a very quick experience! The atmosphere is nothing special but more so basic seating. read more
"In February it will be My snowman's anniversary With cake for him and soup for me!" (Carole King) When checking out Kaliubon's menu from home as a prelude to my business lunch, I sure had the impression they were a follower of the Subeay model, where the customer walks down the ordering line and points at this and at that to build their order. But I was wrong, Kaliubon is a conventional and traditional table service. They have similar lunch menus and dinner menus that differ by around $2 or so. Our lunch menu offered us a dozen appetizers (baos, wings, dumplings salads ranging from $5 for edamame to $14 for a Cajun Crab Bao. The lunch entrees are 12 choices within the noodle/ramen family for $14 and six Poke Bowls ($12-$14). Lunch combinations include one of the appetizers. I ordered the the Kaliubon Dumplings as my appetizer and they were excellent. Bursting with ground pork and shrimp with crispy shallots, cilantro, scallions, tomatoes, and roasted peanuts swimming in a spicy Sichuan chili sauce. My spicy salmon Poke Bowl was excellent, with a generous portion of salmon cubes, edamame, cucumber, seaweed, crispy shallots, and pickled ginger all in a zippy spicy sauce and served over a mound of white rice. I loved it. My 2 lunch-mates both ordered ramen bowls, and I have to admit, they really looked fabulous. Service was friendly and helpful. I was very impressed with my first visit to Kaliubon. read more

Me and my girlfriend order Korean Wings sweet and spicy and it was good, before me and my girlfriend went can even finished are wings are ramen came out fast and the ramen we order are Tokyo Chicken Ramen with a extra fried egg and Kaliubon Ramen. The food was cooked perfectly and the waiteress was politely and always asked if we we needed more drinks or need anything. also the places was very clean only thing we didn't do is used the bathroom cause we didn't need to used it. finally when we left are waitress left a nice note on are receipt. IT made me and my girlfriend day cause it shows she cares about customer service and the people who came to there restaurant i highly recommend this please read more
We came here when this location (the original) opened several years ago (pre covid) and we were blown away. It was by far the best ramen in the state. Over the years (I suspect change in management and staff) the quality has declined significantly. It's still good but it's just not great. I have been meaning to try their West Hartford location to see if the chefs and favorite staff moved there. Our waitress tonight was very kind and attentive. The kitchen forgot our order of edamame but I guess that's not a big deal. My husband's food came way before mine which again isn't a huge deal but it's just not an ideal experience. This place used to be out favorite spot and sadly I think after several disappointing meals we probably won't be back. I am still giving them 3 stars though because those Korean wings are still absolutely delicious. My tuna poke was really good too. I opted for that as I just don't enjoy their ramen anymore. The space is always clean and it makes for a chill vibe where you feel comfortable in casual clothes and bringing the kids. Crossing my fingers that West Hartford will be better as they really did have something special here. read more

Came here for a solo dinner, place is clean and cozy. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They have a bar which is nice and the presentation of the ramen is great. Flavor wise I was expecting more of a red Thai curry flavor but this wasn't as heavy on the coconut flavor. It was a big size bowl so very filling. Do you remember the movie line -You had me at hello? Well Kaliubon- You had me at chili oil! Which by the way was delicious! Our dinner at Kaliubon was spectacular. We started off with the pork bao and dumplings. The pork belly was so flavorful and the cucumbers gave a nice crunch. The dumplings had a perfect filling/wrapper ratio and were spicy. I had the beef ramen and hubby had the Kaliubon ramen. Both were all that you want in a bowl of ramen...chewy noodles, a rich broth and tender meat. I love the egg they put in with the ramen. Service is always quick and professional and the seats are very comfortable. What a great ramen spot!! read more
Back! This time for some dinner apps - Soft Shell Crab Bao and Kaliubon Wings. The wings had a crispy exterior, which was especially impressive because I was late picking up my takeout. They had a sweet Asian glaze, sesame seeds and thin sliced green onions. Awesome taste and execution! Soft Shell Crab can be polarizing, but I thought Kaliubon did a great job with these bao. The bao themselves were perfect. The soft shell crab coating was nice and crispy. The sauce was very tasty. Still 5 Stars for Kaliubon. And if I can go tangent for a second, it's time to acknowledge the 1 mile-ish long stretch on the Silas Deane, between Angry Tofu and Kob Jai, that also includes Utsav, Ginza and Kaliubon. This is my 2nd visit to KR. The staff is friendly, it's small and clean, they sell wines and Sake and Beer. Staff is young and very attentive. The food is delicious! I love the KR Dumplings with the Garlic Sauce. I poured the rest of that sauce over my Crispy Chicken Poke Bowl. $13 for great portions. I want to try the KR WINGS! I have tried the Salmon POKE but didn't realize that it was not cooked. It was still excellent. I was told you can have it cooked for $1.00 making that bowl $15. Still a great portion of food. read more

My husband was craving ramen and although we occasionally grab takeout from here, we decided to eat in for a change. The decor is cozy and cute and there is a tv over the bar that was playing a basketball game at the time. We didn't feel rushed at all or like we were on top of anyone at another table (in fact, we were in a comfy little booth). The servers were all very nice and our bubble teas and food came out quickly. I can't emphasize just how grateful and thrilled I am that they offer gluten free ramen here!! I ordered a lychee bubble tea and the gluten free ramen with shrimp, scallions and corn. I tried to order the bamboo shoots but thankfully the waitress warned me that it contained wheat. My husband got the beef ramen and a taro bubble tea. We both absolutely loved our food and left full and happy. I do love eating takeout in my pjs, but there is nothing like fresh ramen in a restaurant. We will definitely be back! read more
