Their sushi is one of the best we have tasted. So we decided to go here for an early dinner as we were shopping in the area. Seated right away and our orders taken quickly. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Appetizers came out quickly and our entrees followed. The takoyaki was good with a little spicy kick to it. We tried the taco (octopus) salad and enjoyed the tartness of it. One dish we ordered was the Hibachi steak and scallops that was more like a meal with the noodles, fried rice and vegetables. Noodles were a little bland until I mixed it with the sauce covering the steak. Noticed that the scallops aren't the same size which would have been nice, but they tasted great. Took a photo of the dessert menu thinking we would get some dessert but between the appetizers and entrees we were full.

Suzuki Nigiri & Hotate

Traveling through Wethersfield I decided to give Ginza a try. I was greeted by an inviting space and staff, unfortunately the sushi bar was not open this evening but I had no problem being seated at a table immediately. A fairly baseline sushi restaurant menu is offered with the acceptation of seasonal specials including Uni, Toro and Amaebi "which was the only special in stock this evening." Ordered the Yellowtail Jalapeño, Sashimi Dinner, 2 orders of Amaebi Sashimi, 1 Scallop Sashimi, 1 Ikura sushi, 1 Suzuki nigiri and hot tea. The Yellowtail was tasty but also lacking proper structure and texture as can be seen in photo. The Amaebi were prepared well and of good size. The Sashimi dinner came with 18 pieces of very fresh wonderfully textured and properly portioned sashimi slices Including, Akami Tuna, Yellowtail, Spanish Mackerel, Salmon, Madai and Hirame. Along with Miso or house salad and a sizable portion of sushi rice which was perfectly moist and sticky with a semi garnish. The Ikura and Suzuki sushi showcased the flavor and textures or the sushi rice and flavor of the nori wonderfully. Certainly not the largest or most elegantly prepared scallop I have ever had, it was still fresh. Real grated wasabi root mixed into the "wasabi" was a nice indicator there is some attention payed to the quality of the ingredients they are using. Overall a very pleasant experience at Ginza, good casual sushi dining, friendly staff, clean environment offering good quality ingredients 6.7/10

Not bad, but far from great My memories of this location were much better than the last dining experience. I recall expertly crafted sushi, with correct preparation, flavors, and freshness. As time has gone by, the standards have waned and the menu has taken a turn towards the mass adaptation route. The servers were friendly, the inside dining space is nice, and the sushi rolls and sauces have their own distinct flavor profiles and textures. However, the sushi rice wasn't seasoned, wasn't the correct grain of rice, and none of the attention to detail steps were followed for their sushi pieces. It's heavily westernized sushi, which is fine if that's what one expects. But to me, it's a far cry from what they use to be. The Takoyaki, the octopus was overcooked. The peppered tuna tataki was good but needed more sauce, paradise and springtime roll were surprisingly spicy but the stars of the show were the sauces. The fish was very lost in each one. The seasonex edamame were garlicky but tasty. The best bite out if all of them. As a sushi joint, it's perfectly fine sushi. Load up on spicy mayo and soy sauce and drench your rolls and you'll do just fine.

Sushi and sashimi lunch special

Ginza has been around for a long time for a reason. The food is consistently great, the service is always friendly, and the ambiance is casual enough for a quick lunch, but pretty enough for a date. The fish is always fresh, well prepared, and thoughtfully presented. Most recently I ordered a sushi and sashimi combo that also includes a spicy tuna avocado roll off the lunch menu and it was perfect. It was a really generous portion for a great price. Really you can't go wrong here!

Grilled salmon and rice

Very disappointing! 4 of us ate here for lunch based on the rave reviews and 1 of my colleagues got his lunch 15 minutes before the rest of us. Strange. We were the only customers in the restaurant. When the other 3 of us finally got our lunch, it was cold. Service was good but when I told her my chicken is cold she said "oh do u want me to heat it up?" What? Very disappointed and I didn't even eat the veggies or chicken. I just ate the noodles. I am assuming they do a great take out business earning those rave reviews. It looked so good when it hit the table but too bad it was cold.

Seaweed salad

On Mother's Day, my mom and I went to Ginza for sushi. This was a last minute decision, as we initially planned to go to Doro, which is located in the same plaza. It wasn't very busy here at all, which usually isn't a good sign, but I knew this sushi would be good, since I've previously had the sushi at their Bloomfield location, which is unfortunately permanently closed. The waitress was very attentive, she immediately brought us waters and the menu. I got the Spicy Salmon Roll, mom got two tuna rolls. We also got seaweed salad. This sushi is super fresh! It is flavorful, fresh and tasty! Same goes for the seaweed salad! Upon checking in on Yelp, I was presented with a 10% coupon. We both enjoyed our sushi! I will be returning to this Ginza in the future.

Crazy Friday Roll

I didn't feel like going anywhere after a long day of work meetings and I wanted sushi so I found this spot through DoorDash and reviews were decent. I got the sashimi sampler and Crazy Friday roll. Both were pretty good. Wasn't the best quality of fish I had but I also had to remember this was in Hartford. I enjoyed the roll tho, it had a lychee miso sauce which tasted really good and I liked the peppered tuna on top. Everything was packaged well. I asked for yuzu sauce and eel sauce on the side but I was very unhappy to see that they upcharged like $2 for a teeny tiny container. Overall not bad sushi option for the area.

Chicken teriyaki

Nice solid place to get good food. Staff is always friendly, helpful and attentive. I got ginger chicken with large pieces of chicken and lots of vegetables! It was delicious! My kid got teriyaki chicken and enjoyed it. My DH got the American sushi plate and enjoyed that too! I forgot to add we got the seasoned edamame. It was mildly spicy and super tasty!

look at the size of the peppered tuna! I didn't see or taste eel or avocado, but it was tasty.

I have been wanting to try this place & I didn't know the Bloomfield location had closed. I happened across the wethersfield location & walked in at 3:30 during their daily shutdown (230 - 430), but he let me order take-out. So, this is a 1st, I'm doing a review from my car. I started with the Angel Roll. It seemed to be missing some ingredients (avacado & eel), and the rice smelled very starchy. They may have had to improvise w/ a white rice vs Sushi rice, which affected the texture and taste a bit. It was a decent roll & had a very slight spicyness to it. Then I tried the Ginzal Roll. The texture was better, and on this one, they used the correct rice. At 1st, because of the improved texture, I thought I preferred this roll, but I found myself missing the slight kick of the pepper from the Angel Roll. It was not the best sushi i have ever had, but it wasn't terrible either. I would give it a sold B to B-. I would not avoid this resteraunt & i would eat there again if invited. On the ambiance, the outside appearance might detur people as the sigh is run down & the door is not washed, but the interior was cute & the bathroom was clean. They even had a false tree in there that added to the charm. The lighting was perfect and the music was modern but not too loud like some places where you can't hear yourself think. Overall, I would rate this a B.

Basil Chicken

I stopped by here on my way to a concert after the restaurant I originally planned to visit was closed. The service was fantastic, our server was so nice and our food arrived very quickly. However, the food itself varied from dish to dish. The chicken tempura roll was very good, as was the miso soup that came with my entree. However, the Haru Maki (fried spring rolls) dish was very bland and tasted frozen. Furthermore, I was super excited for the Basil Chicken but unfortunately the dish was extremely salty and I couldn't finish it or take it home. There were actual basil leaves but I couldn't get the flavor over the cloying salt and soy sauce. My big takeaway, however, is that the plain white rice was incredible, it has the perfect consistency and flavor and I kept taking bites of the rice even when the actual entree became too much.

Angry dragon roll
Anna L.

3.5 Ordered a couple of rolls for delivery. Taste was decent but the rolls were not very firm and the specialty rolls were on the soggy side probably from sitting around too long. Best to eat them right away. Delivery is probably not the best way to enjoy them. I had the angry dragon, special vegetable, shrimp tempura, cucumber avocado, and spicy maki combo. The spicy maki combo consists of spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and Californian roll with spicy mayo on top along with miso soup. The specialty rolls were expensive. They were not bad but I didn't think it was worth the price. I enjoyed the basic rolls more. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon has fillers which gets dry after a while.

So happy to have Ginza reborn in the plaza near Ocean State. Sushi as good as the old Ginza, and excellent drinks.

I'll be honest...I'm not the biggest fan of pre-made sandwiches that have been sitting for a bit, and unfortunately the sandwich I tried didn't really wow me. I was expecting a little more flavor, especially from the turkey. I didn't try a pizza slice, though I was told it's good. The pastries, however, were a highlight. The Dubai tart was flavorful but on the drier side for my taste (definitely needed some milk). The pumpkin croissant was very light and airy--absolutely loved that one. Drink-wise, the tiramisu latte with oat milk was tasty and a solid 7.5/10. The strawberry lemonade with boba was just okay for me--nothing fancy, but I'd be open to trying a different drink next time. Overall, the ambiance was really cute. A nice mix of people working on laptops and groups catching up, which made the space feel cozy and inviting. Definitely a lovely spot and worth checking out at least once.

If you haven't hit up Chopt yet, what are you actually doing?!‍…read more My friend took me there ,for the first time , yesterday, and let me tell you, it was on point. I ordered the Sweet Apple Orchard salad and customized it with the hot panko chicken and some cucumber; Eleeeeee-lite! The portion size was also huge. I couldn't even finish it in one sitting. I'm honestly stuck between this and Wendy's strawberry salad now, but Chopt might've just taken the crown. I could literally eat this every single day. 10/10, HIGHLY recommend!

I decided to create my own bowl and made it clear out loud that it was my first visit. However, no one explained that several toppings are extra or that there's a limit on how many items you can choose from certain sections before being charged. Since I wasn't informed, I kept adding ingredients as I went along. The person making my bowl never mentioned the additional costs, and another employee at the counter kept staring at my bowl, instead of offering guidance. A simple explanation like "you can choose up to three from this section, anything extra costs more" would have made a big difference--especially for a first-time customer. When I got to the register, the total came to $40, which was honestly shocking for a salad. The food may be good, but the lack of communication and customer service really took away from the experience. First impressions matter, and this one definitely missed the mark. I have always passed by that road and wanted to try chopt. The salad was okay liked the falafel and the options they had.
