I like Doro for certain things -- mostly dessert and pastries. I think the coffee is good, but I have had the same general experience that I haven't enjoyed at this Doro multiple times. I popped in because the parking lot was mostly empty. It wasn't particularly busy in the cafe either. There were two small groups ahead of me in line. I order my food and black iced coffee to go. I received my food. It even had to be heated. And I had to wait 10 minutes for them to give me my black iced coffee. Even though there are only two or three people waiting in the drink area. And that was after I said something. So who knows how long it would have taken. This isn't because of lack of effort. The baristas were doing things. They're making lots of drinks. But it's not clear for whom. They finish the drinks and they don't call people's names. Maybe they're for to go orders? I understand that restaurants need to make choices about how they run things. All I can say is, that it's not a good experience to get all of your food and you have to wait for a black iced coffee (a drink that takes very minimal effort) for 10 minutes. Even though you're one of only a few people in the drink area. I'm not going to change my review score. But these experiences definitely affect how often I visit. read more

This is my second time coming to the Doro marketplace, giving it another try after not being impressed the first time This time I stuck with the coffee as it was very good last time, and choose the caramel coconut ice latte. I also got the salted malted hazelnut cookie. I will say their pastries and coffee are probably the best thing! As for the food again, it's very salty! We tried the pepperoni pizza this time, and although pepperoni is salty, it was a little bit overboard. We also tried another salad and again it was completely drenched in dressing. Half of our order was completed when we sat down. I was able to finish my pizza before the salad came out. I wish everything was a little bit more organized, and came out together. read more

I also got ITALIAN CHOPPED SALAD which came with romaine lettuce, soppressata, mozzarella, pepperoncini, olive, heirloom tomato, cucumber, pickled red onion, roasted red pepper, herb breadcrumbs for $ 10.95. The salad took about 10 mins to finally come out and I was ready to leave at that point but I was hungry so I decided to stay and eat it. After a few recommendations from friends about this place I decided to try it myself and check if what they say its true. Our First impression as soon as we walk in was how spacious and cozy it looked. There are many things to like and some things that can be improved with Doro Marketplace. Let's start with the good things! I've been there twice and both times I've ordered their Mediterranean bowl. The first time I tried it, it was on Sunday for lunch. Place wasn't too crowded and my bowl came out quick. Chicken was warm and tender. The second time I visited, it was on a Friday during a late lunch. The place seemed less crowded than the first time I went yet it took a very long time for my bowl to come out. A chicken on the second time around was cold and chewy. Everything else in the bowl was amazing. The hummus, especially was really good. I feel like the bowl needs some kind of dressing though. I thought it did the first time around and the second time around it tasted very dry. But that could've been due to the dry chicken. I also split a pastry with a friend on the second go around. We tried their pumpkin filled croissant. It was very buttery. I probably would not buy it again. It was way too rich. And it needed a more fluffier filling - less butter, more whipped cream. My kids tried the cake like brownie last time as well and did not like it. But they ordered pizza and seem to enjoy that. So all in all, I would say that the meals are good, but the desserts need a little work. I did not try any of their drinks. The restaurant itself is fun. It has a very European marketplace feel to it. You can purchase goods as you wait in line to order from the counter. The counter has all their foods on full display - kind of like a deli counter. This is pretty much how people buy food in Italian marketplaces. The staff is nice as well and friendly. Once you order and pay for your food, you find a table and they will bring the food to you. I finally stopped in a couple of weeks ago after passing by countless times and always seeing it busy. The staff was friendly during my visit, and I didn't run into any issues service-wise. I'll be honest...I'm not the biggest fan of pre-made sandwiches that have been sitting for a bit, and unfortunately the sandwich I tried didn't really wow me. I was expecting a little more flavor, especially from the turkey. I didn't try a pizza slice, though I was told it's good. The pastries, however, were a highlight. The Dubai tart was flavorful but on the drier side for my taste (definitely needed some milk). The pumpkin croissant was very light and airy--absolutely loved that one. Drink-wise, the tiramisu latte with oat milk was tasty and a solid 7.5/10. The strawberry lemonade with boba was just okay for me--nothing fancy, but I'd be open to trying a different drink next time. Overall, the ambiance was really cute. A nice mix of people working on laptops and groups catching up, which made the space feel cozy and inviting. Definitely a lovely spot and worth checking out at least once. read more

5 Stars I had the chicken parmesan croissant sandwich and it was absolutely incredible! The portion was just right, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I also grabbed a bag of black truffle potato chips (in a white bag), and wow--they were amazing. The earthy truffle flavor paired perfectly with the sandwich. A combo I didn't know I needed! Doro Marketplace on the Silas Deane is a gem! I love the WeHa location but this one is bigger and has better parking. As always, there are smiling faces behind the counter and bringing you your long awaited, well-deserved treat. Dining in here is a enjoyable. I swear, food is better because of the ambiance (still, 10/10). The wifi is strong, but the lattes are even stronger! I have been to the other location in West Hartford a couple times and it's been excellent. Today I was traveling out of state and wanted to grab some food first and this location was on my route. I ordered the avocado toast and a few slices of pizza. I added egg which could have come in any style but they said the default is sunny side up. I love a runny yolk so I said it was fine as is. However, when I got my food, the egg was basically raw. The white was still viscous and the egg had slid off the toast. When I showed the employee, they seemed unconcerned and asked if I wanted it medium or hard (as if this was the acceptable level for sunny side up). I eat eggs almost every day and this is not the correct way to prepare them. An apology would have been nice. I had it remade with scrambled eggs. It ended up taking so much longer than I had expected which was annoying since I had wanted to be on the road earlier. The flavors of the toast were good and the pizza was great. Ordered 2 salads with salmon. The croutons were fried in rancid oil and the the undressed salad was oily and some of the lettuce pieces were cooked! The salad was ordered with dressing on the side. I don't know if the oil slick is from the salmon or the deep fried croutons. Unfortunately, I learned that the recipe for Caesar salad dressing is different from at the different Doro markets. The dressing at West Hartford is garlicky with a hint of anchovy. The Caesar dressing in Wethersfield is sour like mayonnaise and tastes like Worcestershire sauce. Not to my taste. I ended up throwing out almost $20 in salad and keeping the salmon. The only reason I don't totally regret going to the Wethersfield store is that I found a great well stocked Japanese market, Tomo's, in the same mall. "So, don't get me wrong, it's not that I knock it It's just that I am not in the market For a boy who wants to love only me" (Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Poneys) We had a business appointment in Wethersfield this afternoon and when the need for an afternoon "pick me up" surfaced, we popped into the Doro Market on the Silas Deane Highway- site of the old Chip's Diner. It was our first visit to Doro Wethersfield, but our third overall Doro experience, having previously visited their Windsor Locks and West Hartford locations. Wethersfield seems to be the largest of the three Doros. They have a very long showcase with salads, sandwiches, and pizza slices. But Doro's fantastic baked goods and pastries are the star of the show, so expect to see a deep variety of breads, croissants, a cronut, cookies, eclairs, and tarts. Our $17 order got us a Pistachio Croissant, a Coconut Chocolate Chip Scone, a 12-ounce cold brew, and a 12-ounce coffee. Both pastries were excellent! The huge croissant was super soft and flaky and smothered in a pistachio icing and crushed pistachios. Delicious indeed, but super messy to eat. I recommend a knife and fork to attack this behemoth. The scone was surprisingly soft and flaky, unlike so many scones that remind me of those wedge-shaped wooden door stops. It had great coconut and chocolate flavor. The coffees can be offered in a variety of sizes (12, 16, 20 ounces for the cold brew) and roasts (light or dark on the fresh brewed). Today's light brew was a Honduras blend. Doro never disappoints, and Doro Newington is a welcome addition to the Doro Universe. read more

My boyfriend loves this place! I think it's a little pricey considering you order at the counter and then bring your food to your seating area.. and then are urged to clean up after yourself and return plates and utensils to a designated place. Staff is nice and they offer a variety of pastries and bread -- all fresh. The place is open until 8pm (which is later than many other establishments in the proximity). They will start cleaning up around 7:15pm or so and there are a few lingering patrons around closing. Free WiFi and many seating areas -- booth and bar & outdoor patio area. Half of the patio is shaded from the sun around 1pm on a Summer day. Their plants could use a lil water (I'm a plant aficionado) but it has always offered a pleasant experience. You can attest to my frequency of this location of Doro if you peeped how many times "Ice Tea - Black 20 oz, Raspberry, Light Ice" comes through on the pick up. It's enough for my husband to feel a little bad for how often he asks me to swing by and grab a drink but not enough for him to stop. While Doro Marketplace is becoming more well known across CT, I'd say this is my favorite location to meet up with coworkers, do some remote work / homework, and to grab a bite along the way. The location is huge and I've never had trouble finding seating or a plug to lock in and work. Can't go wrong with the ice tea order like I mentioned above. Since it's on my commute into the office I will sometimes add on a matcha iced tea with honey and have it make it through my day. The online ordering feature is convenient as I enable my addiction to the drinks at Doro. I'm always a fan of the breakfast bowls and especially the seasoned breakfast potatoes. The newest Doro Market location in Wethersfield is the place everyone is going for breakfast and lunch. This was my very first Doro visit. We arrived on a very busy Saturday--think back in the day when you had to scout for seats at Panera kind of busy. We decided to take our lunch to-go. I ordered a Red Hot Fog latte that smelt like hot cinnamon candies. I also got the Zohara Market Hummus Toast that was had a delicious spread of hummus, topped with cherry tomatoes and diced cucumbers and herbs. My husband got the Doro Bowl that had rice, chicken, corn, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes and chimichurri. Everything tasted great and very fresh. I really enjoyed my tea that I would get it again. We browsed the cakes and pastries as we would love to try some next time. It was difficult to get a good look of the cakes, pastries, pizza, and sandwiches that were on display because of how the line formed. I have a few food allergies and didn't want to bother the staff during their lunch rush about the cakes and pastries. It seemed a little chaotic for the kitchen staff, food runners and cashiers. However, the staff were very helpful and great in making sure my toast order was safe. They checked a large binder that was filled with items and ingredients, and alerted the kitchen for when they prepared my order. The dining area is large and bright, natural lighting from the large windows. It felt rustic with a modern flare, very aesthetically pleasing in the space. I can see myself coming for a coffee or tea (when they aren't so busy of course). They had rustic looking shelving and display full of merchandise, tea, coffee, honey and more. They serve Shearwater Coffee and Harney & Sons Tea. I'm looking forward to visiting Doro Market again and maybe check out their other locations. read more

My girlfriend & I really looked forward to trying this new cafe style establishment. We finally had our chance today & met up in historic Wethersfield. Well, to sum up lackluster at best. It is pretty & bright with many green plants & delicious looking fresh pastries in the case. We both opted for vegan lentil soup $7 & change. You order & pay at the counter, then get a number flag for your table order to arrive to you. I left a cash tip in the fishbowl. All was great until... We received lukewarm watery bland soup with half burnt dry toast. Really?! With all the many great choices around for lunch, they shouldn't let this out of their kitchen! Maybe one would have better luck with the pastries or sandwiches? We are choosing something else next time. I might as well just give Doro a direct line to my bank account because their coffee, sandwiches and baked goods are like magnets to my net pay and mental health. Like I can't drive by the Doro locations in West Hartford and Windsor Locks without stopping in and buying a sandwich, pastry or at minimum a coffee and everytime I leave from this place I get the odd rush of dopamine. And now you're gonna tell me there's an even more accessible Doro location with plenty of seating and parking? (I say this because their West Hartford location can get very stressful on a Saturday morning.) Everything I've ever gotten from any Doro location has always been like an easy top 5 of whatever it was for me. Already tried a couple sandwiches, salads, pastries and drinks from the Wethersfield location despite them being open for only four (4) days since writing this review and I can confirm that same Doro quality is still there. Even their Dragonfruit Refresher is better than the one I typically would get at Starbucks. Prices are steep but I've never been disappointed with any of their products. Pastries are baked fresh every morning, sandwiches made to order, their coffee blend is my favorite. I even got a Hot Mocha in a paper cup with the lid and they still made a milk froth design like come on, it's like doing the right thing when nobody's watching, how can I say no to that? That's Doro for you, now I hope they hold this standard. My favorite sandwich is still the South Main. Yes it's just a bacon, egg and cheese but it's fairly priced and it's one (1) of my favorite breakfast sandwiches like ever. Soft Brioche Bun, looks shiny/buttery but I did the finger test and you don't even need napkins like that. In other words, it's not soaked in butter like some places tend to do and I actually didn't feel like garbage starting my day with a bacon, egg and cheese. Pro tip: Treat their Nitro Cold Brew option like the a ice cream machine at McDonalds, order it early before they run out or the machine breaks. Despite always being somewhat busy, like the other Doro locations, there's plenty of hard working staff with lots to learn but I would say things have already been smoothing out as they are still within the first week. Never felt like I had to wait too long at all even with the sandwiches. Well, the consistency of the other Doro Marketplace locations are there so I have nothing else to elaborate on without repeating myself as long as you're familiar with the business. Short version: "There's another Doro Market Place in Wethersfield with more seating and wide open parking, start working over time because it's addicting, expensive and you won't care because it tastes good". read more

Staff was friendly and despite it being super busy on a Sunday morning, it was clean and organized. I thought the breakfast items we ordered (egg and cheese sandwich, eggs and toast w/ potatoes) were just okay. The honey oat iced latte was one of the best coffee drinks I've had in this area. We took croissants to go and they were amazing! Pistachio is a hit or miss but this one was so good, and the chocolate hazelnut croissant was packed with chocolate spread. I feel like it's been a year since I heard Doro was coming to Wethersfield. Ever since, I've been anxiously waiting for their grand opening. They finally opened I'm pretty sure around the end of September. It was a few days ago when I made my way there. This Doro might be a bit larger than the location in West Hartford, it might also be in my head, because it wasn't as busy as I typically find the West Hartford location to be. It is beautiful and inviting, with orchids, small trees and other plants inside the space. I came here with my mom for lunch. I got the Main Bowl and my mom got the Market Salad. I got a small iced pumpkin coffee. My mom got the pre bottled strawberry lemonade with bobba. As we waited in line to place our order and pay, I couldn't help but notice all the delightful cakes, pastries and desserts! These are tasty, I've had some of them previously! We took our drinks outside, and pretty quickly our food was brought out to us. My pumpkin coffee, was pretty good, but a bit too sweet! The pink lemonade was very refreshing and I liked the chewy and sweet bobba in it! The Main Bowl has all of my favorite things. Everything is so fresh and colorful, there's the quinoa, the avocado, finely sliced radishes, green chickpeas, hummus, and roasted sweet potatoes. This was a large portion, those sweet potatoes are incredible, they made the whole meal. The Market salad was ok. It was a traditional salad with tomato, lettuce, carrots, not much of a wow factor. Since mine was plenty big, I shared it. This Doro is a wonderful addition to the area. The service was wonderful and I was very pleased with my meal.
