This has been on my go to list as a coffee lover. There's seating outside and plenty of space inside. There's a plethora of coffee beans to purchase or make your way down for a fresh brew. Service was quick and friendly. I loved seeing their employee recommendations as it gives me new things to try. They had a display of baked goods but will have to snag those next time. This is my favorite place. The staff is always absolutely wonderful, kind, and we'll go out of the way for a little crazy request. Not that I have those often... Today I was trying to change out my usual Cortado (I ordered it every time plane and ask them to surprise me with a flavor other than hazelnut. They made something with a little bit of vanilla and maple syrup. Absolutely perfect as I do not like overly sweet drinks. It was a nice change to my usual. Love the new paint changes they are making to the decor walls. I hate writing such a good review because that means it gets busier, but I want this amazing business to flourish. With a little bit of free time lately I've been trying out some coffee places. Stopped here on a Wednesday around noon, so not too busy. Quaint place with some seating and wifi to get some work done or have a coffee date. I'm fairly simple with my coffee. I ordered an iced coffee with almond milk and added stevia. I really enjoyed the flavor of the coffee. Thought it was smooth and probably could've had it black. They have a wide variety of coffee beans that you can take home. I thought it was really cool that you can actually watch them roasting coffee beans. The smell outside not great, but did not impact the inside. I apparently forgot to take a photo of my coffee but I definitely plan on coming back here. The chocolate truffles they have also look delicious so I plan on trying those out next time as well. Love to stop by before heading to the library! Perfect spot to sit down, sip some delicious coffee, and get some work done. The tables in the front seem to fill up fast, but there is more seating as you go in. This coffee shop opened in 1989 and they roast the coffee beans they acquire, in small batches. They have two entrances, one on the side and one in the front. We walked through the front and it was surprisingly a long hallway. There were tables up front which was quiet. You can see the coffee roaster displayed there. The counter is in the back; there were a ton of employees working and they were all so friendly, smiley, and welcoming. There were plenty of seating as well. We found free parking easily on street. The place was nicely decorated and clean. I ordered an iced latte and it was great; the prices were comparable to other coffee shops. They also had cookies which my toddler enjoyed. Daybreak Coffee Roasters in Glastonbury is a good friend to coffee drinkers. If you want somebody else to make your beverage, they'll do it. If you want to buy coffee beans to grind and brew at home, they have a good selection of single origins and blends. If you need accessories, like Chemex Pre-Folded Square Filters, for home brewing, you may find it there. The best thing is, if you need all three of these things like I recently did, they've got you covered in one stop. That has great value to me and hence my rating may be higher than other reviewers'. If I was rating solely based upon my black Iced coffee, my rating would be 4 Stars. It was fine, but it didn't really distinguish itself. However, I have now cold brewed both bags of coffee I bought for home use -- a Papua New Guinea and a Guatemalan Huehue. Both were very good and met my expectations. One of the values of making cold brew or iced coffee at home is, you can choose a coffee you want. Whereas, your in-shop drinking options are very limited if you're a cold coffee drinker. You get what they already have cold, and that usually is just one type. In any event, Daybreak is a great place if, like me, your coffee needs are diverse. Five Stars. read more

I've been to Daybreak Coffee Roasters many times through the years. This is a nice coffee shop in Glastonbury, where they roast their coffee beans, and you can see the machine right by the entrance. In addition to the coffee or coffee beans, whatever you prefer, you can also get loose tea, or they'll brew it for you. They have loose chocolate, local maple syrups and honey. Their tea is absolutely delicious, and they have a pretty large variety. One of my favorites might be the cranberry orange. It's so rich in flavor and in smell, regardless if it's hot or iced. Unfortunately, something is off about the coffee. Yesterday I got the Pumpkin Spice iced coffee. There was nothing pumpkin or spice about it, other then that the coffee was fine, the flavor was off. My friend got the cappuccino, it tasted bitter, even with sugar. They're a nice spot for sitting outside on a sunny day like yesterday. Their staff is always super pleasant and friendly. read more

I always enjoy visiting Daybreak. I don't know if it's their coffee or syrups, but all of their drinks are DELICIOUS! My go-to is their Dolce de Leche latte. Today, I opted for an iced Matcha Latte and I added Honey/Lavender Syrup... very refreshing! Their shop is cozy and adorable and filled with the delicious aroma of freshly roasted coffee. It's definitely a place I could comfortably spend the day reading or working. Their staff is super friendly and clearly passionate about the place, which makes visiting even more enjoyable. My only complaint is that their prices are very high compared to most CT coffee roasters. But their drinks are so enjoyable, it's worth stopping by every once in a while. read more

Below average cafe in a somewhat nice location. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Lots of street parking and parking lot spots. The place has very dim lighting and dark interiors, which makes it seem dull, dirty, and dingy. Very motel-like. Also, the matcha was very bad quality - probably not ceremonial grade. I prefer the vibrant coffee house modeled on imported fresh beans, roasted on site and full of flavor. Not just a bag of coffee, but instead a lesson in history, geography, anthropology, etc, I am severely geek-ing out. This place is modeled to the old school coffee house, with flavored coffee, flavored syrup, and mega dark French roast that tastes like burnt coffee. Also: flavored creamer. To each its own, I guess, and I am just stating my preference (and what is hip in my eyes). So, somewhat disappointed but relieved to get a latte made with decent milk and decent coffee. I also got a sandwich, and if you know me, you know panini are a no-no for me, so just the fact that they put my egg n cheese sandwich in a panini press is a flagrant foul. But whatever... An actual coffee shop that does it all. They can make you any coffee you want and it has flavor because they roast their own beans at the front of the store. You can place orders for beans, chocolates, and even do to go orders if you want to make coffee at home. Coffee and teas to please everyone. The cold brew is good but honestly not the bets I've had. Lattes are delicious and made very well in a to go cup so couldn't judge the skill of their pour. I have stopped by more than once when I'm in the area. Problem with parking, it's only a couple spaces on the side of the building at a busy intersection. If you can't find a spot then good luck. read more

Coffee is decent but it's over shadowed by the unfriendly staff!!! I've been a few times and always give the benefit of the doubt but seems to be thing all the time. Disappointed in the significant drop in quality, experience, atmosphere, and offerings. I've been going here for 10+ years, so I've seen the ups/downs. Even the ownership cha he didn't have a major impact because the core staff remained. But Covid and something else behind the scenes has had an impact. Staff is condescending, EXCEPT for the gentleman who was roasting beans and was very helpful in helping me find a flavorful grind that wasn't a "flavor" coffee. Beans and ground coffee have been burnt, stale, or blah. Service is with a dismissive attitude. Lots of staff congregating vs coming to help. Aside from merchandise and other items to sell there is nothing on the walls or shelves. Gone are books, pictures, local flyers, etc. It's just bare. Even with zero Covid restrictions people are rarely there meeting. All food is still in single-use bags and very bland. They no longer make sandwiches other breakfast foods. They have a rewards program but can't even get that right. A discount comes with 105 "points," but apparently it's really 120 points; despite their system sending texts and announcing it's 105 points the staff shrugs and says they can't do anything to change it. Minor detail IF the experience was worth it. But it's not. A shame, but done with Daybreak. Maybe the old owner Carmelo will take it back over and rejuvenate the place. read more

This is my first time at this establishment. It's hard to write a complete review during COVID times, as contact is limited, but my 5 stars is based solely on their friendly customer service and killer iced coffee. I happened to me in the area and stopped in. I didn't realize that you had to call in your order, or order it on an app, but they were kind enough to take my order at the window being my first time. I got Jake's Coco-Nut Iced Coffee and it was FANTASTIC! Very friendly service and they seem to be very popular with the locals as there were several to-go orders waiting and just in my 5 mins there 4 others showed up to get their order. I'll definitely be back and hope I'll be able to stay awhile and check out the inside. Currently no public access just door pick-up at the side (main) entrance. read more

An awesome place to grab some freshly ground coffee, breakfast, or a pastry. Everything is made in-house and tastes fresh. They've got plenty of seating which makes it a really convenient place to have meetings, grab a quick bite, or hunker down and get some work done. The wifi was strong and easy to connect to. Staff were very friendly and helpful navigating the menu. They also have coffee beans from around the world for sale, which is quite unique. Overall, there isn't much to dislike here. An awesome coffee spot in the Glastonbury area! -- They also have a parking lot on the side with a decent amount of spots which is nice. If you're a big home coffee drinker like me, you need to do yourself a favor and try picking up a bag of coffee beans from here. There are roasted in house and by far some of the freshest coffee beans I have tried. As someone who used to work at Starbucks, the coffee from here does not compare. Plus it always feel great to support a small business that has been in Glastonbury for so long. I'm on my seventh bag of the Breakfast blend (a medium roast) and it is my simple joy to enjoy a cup of this every morning using my drip coffee machine. It's super smooth and minimally acidic. They also have the option to buy buys and air seal them for 50 cents extra if you want to keep the beans extra fresh! They have been extremely COVID safe which I greatly appreciate and are currently taking coffee bean orders over the phone and limiting the store to 2-3 people at a time. Daybreak is quickly becoming one of my favorite places in Glastonbury. Don't let the outside deceive you. This space is huge and has about 10 small tables where you can rest a while. I love that they have so many gourmet teas, jams, spreads, snacks, and chocolates. This is a perfect spot to get a gift for a self-proclaimed foodie. I also have to give a nod to their roasted coffee. It's not too bitter and definitely wakes me up. They also have a decent variety of pastries, teas, and refrigerated juices/smoothies. Their lunch paninis were great. I got the Tuscan Sun, and it was very satisfying. (However, the side salad of cubed cheese, canned olives, and mixed greens is weird and not necessary.) There isn't much to do in the town of Glastonbury, but we do have some pretty great coffee shops and Daybreak is definitely one of them. The atmosphere of the place is really great and they have inside and outside seating. From the outside it looks just like this small coffee shop, but as you walk in through the front door, you see that there is a back that has a bit more room. Daybreak is a great place to grab a coffee and catch up with some friends. I only like to drink black coffee so I have not gotten the chance to try the rest of the drinks on the menu. Personally, I think that their plain coffee is just alright, it is not my favorite out of all the coffee I have tried, but it definitely is unique. Giving them a 1star for customer service. Bought two different coffee beans the other day. Asked for a recommendation on one of them from the person at the counter. It was to be used for espresso. Got it home, made the espresso and it tasted terrible. I took it back today. Before I presented to the same person my distaste for the coffee beans that she suggested, I asked for 1 1/2 lbs of another coffee. I then asked what we could do for the distasteful coffee that they recommended. Guess what, absolutely nothing. No discount, nothing offered except this, do you know anyone who grows plants because they love coffee beans to use on their plants. I won't go back to this local roaster in my town. read more

This place has the best chocolate store inside of it. THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!! Their peanut butter cups are to die for. They are lake Champlain chocolates. AMAZING!!! The coffee is okay too but honestly what brings me here is the chocolate shop. I wish they would ship to me!! The sea salted dark chocolate caramels are pretty awesome too. Daybreak is one of my favorite coffee shops in CT. I've been a regular since I was kid, & have so many great memories of coming for breakfast on early mornings before beach trips. Before you even step inside, you can smell the delicious aroma of roasted coffee! It's so delicious! I love how their roaster is right behind the counter, so you can see & smell the process. They always offer different varieties of coffee each day, daily brews, cold brew, french press & latte specials. If coffee isn't your thing, they also have an amazing selection of loose-leaf teas! I love getting a pot of tea & grabbing a seat at the counter to do work. The vibe inside is so relaxing & perfect spot to meet a friend, read a book or bring a laptop to work (their wifi never fails). And the staff is always so friendly and helpful, whenever I visit they're always hustling behind the counter, yet still greeting customers with a smile! It can get crowded at peak hours, but there's seating areas by the order/pickup counter, the main storefront & patio as well. I highly recommend stopping by when it's nice out & grabbing a table out side. It's so picturesque! It's almost impossible not to order a pastry when placing your drink order. Mostly everything is house-made, and their scones & muffins are to die for! They also offer breakfast sandwiches & lunch as well! One of my favorite drinks to order is their Turmeric Matcha Latte, I'm kind of a tea snob and can tell it's high quality tea.
