Finding parking was an event as it was snowing and I couldn't see the parking lines. The GPS took us to an area where we had to walk through an ally to find the diner. Walking in the diner was small and cozy. We were greeted quickly and seated. Our waitress had a great personality. We order the Phat Boy Breakfast and she warn us it was a lot of food. When it came out she was right! Everything was good from the pancakes to bacon. I wasn't able to finished it all. Overall I would come back and happy I found another breakfast spot.

I've always had terrific service and they do a good job of curating kids' books. On more than one occasion, my son picked out a book to later discover that it was an author-signed copy. This massive bookstore is located right in downtown Middletown and has a massive selection of fiction, non-fiction, romance, horror, and every other genre you can possibly want at a book store. Downstairs seems to be pretty much only Wesleyan merch which doesn't exactly interest me, but is a cool spot to have as a student or even just downtown who lives in the area. The design of this store is big open floor and it's very nicely decorated. The best part? The haunted Connecticut section that we just had to get something out of. Overall, the Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore is the perfect book store for downtown Middletown. The store has a massive selection, a ton of parking thanks to the downtown parking setup, and a solid staff to help with whatever questions you may have. Great spot.

This recent visit, I attended trivia and I purchased a tea flight. 4 full cups of tea for a very reasonable price!! They can do any 4 flavors and ask about your preferences, so I told them I wanted to try unique/quirky teas. They did not disappoint!!! I was given 4 teas, 3 of which I purchased full supplies of immediately afterwards. Their lychee lime tea was one of my favorites--fruity with a strong and distinct lychee flavor, which was great. Chocolate chili tea was so unique, it reminded me of Mexican hot chocolate. Mountain Squall was a delicious chamomile with some minty refreshing notes, and finally, Volcanic Inferno was insanely unique and interesting! It's a strongly smoky, delicious tea that reminds me of a smoked whisky. These teas were not only delicious, but EXACTLY what I had in mind when I asked for unique teas! The cafe is so good that I'd come here for that alone--it's a bonus that there's also so many lovely games to play! There were plenty of bags of tea to purchase (I wound up snagging bags of Mountain Squall and Volcanic Inferno for home), as well as some other cute board game merchandise and snacks. The game variety is amazing. While I'm typically there for trivia, there's SO many fun game options. They also run activities pretty much every night--Thursday Trivia, Sunday Blood on the Clocktower, Sunday Dread, Friday Beginner DND, etc. There's always something to do! I love coming here and I am ecstatic to have a board game cafe so close to home for me. I certainly recommend that if you're considering coming by here, you should swing by and try it!

The price is unbeatable, $10 for entry to play over 1000 games, and the beverages are yummy! My favorite thing to order is one of their monthly flavored lattes and a cinnamon roll or piece of coffee cake. Plus, there are daily events/games, so there's always something new for me to try. Lastly, the service is unbeatable: everyone is kind, personable, and treats you like a valued guest. I 100% recommend trying out this very fun and unique cafe!

Not a bad thing, just how it was. Stopped into the Plainville location yesterday because I was there and it was there. Have not been a big fan of expansion as in the New Haven pizza world, quality and consistency has suffered. That was my fear with Mozzicatto. However, as they are one of the few who make a ricotta pasticiotti, so I go. I bought 3 of the ricotta and a ricotta square (noticing a pattern here?) which were delicious and were as good as they were 25 years ago. They were fresh, form and the filling was delicately sweet. While I can't speak for all the desserts, they still seem to know what they are doing. It's not easy maintaining this type of specialty business as the market of patrons and tastes is a bit different. IMO, they remain a gem and I am thankful the kids have endeavored to stay true to what brought them success. It is pricy compared to the crap you can buy at the supermarket/Costco? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. I will not pass Mozzicato's without stopping. You shouldn't either. Salute!

(I'm a lush, if you've not read the rest of our writing on Yelp.) We're always looking for a new place to have a bite -- and several drinks. This place soft-opened a few weeks ago, and is now officially open. One must enter through the front door of Pol-Mart, a good delicatessen and Polish specialty store (I prefer Zieliniak, down the street, but I'll forgive the Pol-Mart people, because they're creative.) Apparently the space upstairs used to be a dusty gift shop. It's a lovely little cafe with a baby grand piano, a stage, and some ambitious lighting effects. They currently offer live entertainment on only Fridays - but have plans for more. The decor is very Old Country, but handsome and clean. The appointments (glassware, cutlery) are of high quality. We love that - we love a professional restaurant that doesn't cut corners. There's a great beer selection - not vast, but good. Wines are limited and cheap, but not very good, but a good value. I bought a glass, then a bottle, of the serviceable Riesling from Zum, in Germany. Best Buddy had his usual Bud Light. We're delighted they have domestics for him, because there are too many places in town (craft breweries, Polish restaurants) which offer only hops-heavy brews. These folks have you covered. The menu is a delight! There are two different cold-cut platters, either for one ($7-$9) or for two ($10-$12), with bread and pickles to accompany. A "French" platter contained only cheeses. It's all gotta be good because they source all the charcuterie from the deli downstairs! A modest offering of the most popular Polish foods appears on the menu (Pierogies, savory and sweet; stuffed cabbage, and the like -- and salads, by themselves or with a grilled chicken breast or a piece of salmon). We didn't try that -- we opted instead for hamburgers. The waitress, who was delightful, actually asked "why are you coming to a Polish restaurant for *hamburgers?*" I told her that our starting-out place on Broad Street in Little Poland, the Belvedere, had begun to close every Wednesday. I left the new People's Bank, and expected to go across the street to have a Scotch or three -- and then recalled that the bartender had lamented that the ownership decided to take a day off on Wednesdays. So this brought us to this little cafe. (I missed the Scotch, but it's okay). Soft music played in the background, and out the window one could view the enormous cathedral that graces the middle of Broad Street. The whole deal, three beers, a glass and a bottle of wine and two very nice burgers was only $50. It was an off-peak time, so I had to get up to summon our server twice, but she was very, very nice and very professional. She encouraged us to visit on a Friday night when they have the live music. Go here - it's a great place, trying hard, and needs to establish itself. There aren't enough places in New Britain to get a drink at lunch, and that's another (selfish) reason why we love the place.
