I felt disappointed of my initial experience of this establishment. I was told great things by my friend who invited me for lunch. Although the food was quite delicious, the service was quite lacking. We were the first to arrive as it's only been minutes from them opening for the day. We were told we can sit anywhere and that seemed convenient. Right off, we were told that the first order, we couldn't get rice bowls or fried rice. Also that they didn't have any fried chicken. There was no context or further explanation. I was left to think that 1... since we're only a party of two, we were restricted on what we could order. Perhaps they are trying to place minimums on the total check which was fair. It's better to explicitly say that and 2... since we are technically the first check of the day. In any case, so much confusion there. There was no language barrier to be had since our server was Caucasian and the other server there spoke English very well. We ordered a few appetizers that were all delicious as well as bulgogi and japchae. Apart from those, we didn't see our server at all besides the time we placed the order, when the dishes were served and when we asked for the check. I read somewhere that side dishes and tea were provided on the house, didn't happen. Even though the dishes were great, I won't recommend to dine inside. My friend and I come here often - a few times a year over the last few years since they opened! We love it here. Food is amazing every time. They never disappoint. Their tofu soups are great - no matter which one you get. We've tried all the pancakes and you cannot go wrong - the shrimp one is my favorite but the leek or kimchi ones are really good too. You also get the side dishes or banchan - they don't automatically refill but will if you ask them to. We've also had their kimchijjigae which was so flavorful. They have different flavors of soju and makgeolli, and we would often make soju cocktails with sprite or milkis. Highly recommend!! read more

Only reason for a down-graded review was the difference between the prices of lunch portion [not available on Sunday] and dinner offering. The place became quite crowded just after we arrived and service was okay. The initial dishes were okay but a bit sparing. We both ordered the Bulgogi which came with rice. It was okay but lacked a bit in flavor and plating [a few veggies hidden under the meat]. I wouldn't have minded the price difference if: my son wasn't paying for the meal, it was evident that the meal was a bit enhanced for the day and/or the quality of meal was up to their usual standards. Finally able to sit down and eat in, ambiance is nice, feels like I'm at an actual spot in Korea. Service is good, they checked on me a good amount of time. Refilled my tea like clock work. Food in my opinion was really good I didn't have much but what I ended up getting was very tasty, I'm not really a pork eater but I figured if I'm at a Korean restaurant I might as well go traditional.. I really wanted to try this place and I finally got the chance to. I ordered Galbi and the kimchi jigae. Service was relatively quick. Galbi marinade had depth and side dishes were great. I was right next to Angry Tofu earlier this week. The owner closes the restaurant, lights go out and all, a few staff come out and the lady just looses it and starts berating and swearing at a young lady that was a customer. I can't eat or support a business where the treat young women like dirt. Just so wrong. I was waiting for some violence to break out and was about to dial 911. Loved this place! As a vegetarian, it can be tough to find good Korean food, but this spot nailed it. The rice cakes were packed with flavor and spicy . Love their complimentary (side dishes) were all vegan-friendly and so tasty. Super fresh, well-seasoned, and plenty of variety. Friendly staff and great vibes too definitely a new favorite! This place is unprepossessing from the outside but it was a great choice for dinner. Fascinating collection of Korean drinks made up for the fairly pedestrian beer list...I enjoyed the crushed pear drink. My wife ordered the seafood pancake...it was HUGE...and the steamed dumplings, large and delicious. Nice collection of ban chan, willingly refilled. It's really 2.5 stars but rounded up.. We stopped here for an early dinner on a Saturday and there was no wait. Parking was easy, it's in a space right next to a Dunkin' Donuts. There was plenty of staff - we were seated and waters brought shortly after. We ordered beef tofu soup, dduk bok E, and chicken udon. I was glad to see that they still gave plenty of banchan but the positives ended there. The beef tofu soup wasn't very good. The soup arrived and it wasn't bubbling - the raw egg on top barely cooked. Soup flavor was fine but the beef was extremely chewy. The dduk bok e was decent, had a little kick but the portion size was incredibly small for $15.99. Lastly, the saving grace of the meal was the chicken udon. Chicken was tender and udon noodles were nice and chewy. Unfortunately, three of us got food poisoning from the chicken udon. My little one is still having symptoms after a week.. granted babies have a harder time clearing it than adults, in any case, we're now traumatized to go out to eat. Sans food poisoning would have been 3 stars. Fine for what it was but wouldn't return. They should really cook their chicken to the appropriate temperature and try not to cross contaminate.. read more

This place has been a Wethersfield staple for some time now. They serve solid non fusion unapologetic Korean food. And they do it well. Service is always quick and efficient. We always get the same thing. The gam ja tang has some mega flavor. Loaded with pork meat and bones it's a flavor bomb. Expect your hands to get dirty. I always get the kimchi tofu ja yuk, which is stir fried kimchi with tofu and pork. It's a bit spicy and maybe not so much for the western palate but it's my favorite. Jap chae is great here. Which will be a bit more geared to the western palate. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the choices here. They have been at the location for close to 10 years now which says they are doing things right. read more

The fried Tofu is a must appetizer! Comes with so many tasty sides it could almost be your meal. I had a stone bowl Bubimbam that was wonderful. The lava bowl kept the meal hot and fragrant for my entire meal. Best Korean in the state. read more

Angry Tofu is the kind of restaurant I already know I want to go back to as I'm walking out the door after trying it for the first time. We originally came because I was craving bibimbap, but there were so many interesting things on the menu that I had a hard time deciding. I ultimately stuck with the beef bibimbap and I don't regret it- it was piping hot and delicious. The Gojuchang sauce that came with it was a little boring and I wish it had some spicy heat to it, but it didn't stop me from mixing it in to the bowl and finishing the meal. My friend ordered the seafood pancake appetizer for his entree. For one person, it was definitely large enough to suffice as an entree. He felt that while it tasted good, it was a little too slimy such that it did not hold together well and was difficult to eat. Perhaps it needed to sear a little longer on the stove top. Have been wanting to go there for a while. Finally found some time to try this place out. First impressions there are plenty of spots packed in two levels, you can enter from front and back as well. Plenty of parking spots in the back of the building. Now for the options, completely good set of Korean style dishes on the menu. But I felt that the dinner pricing was a bit too high. I ordered a beef soon tofu for myself, my boys ordered a beef hot plate and a chicken udon, we also got fried tofu as an appetizer. The complimentary side dishes were good and tasty. The service is good and quick. The waitress kept checking on us and refilling water. A couple of things that need some improvement. Cleanliness of the floor under the tables, the cleaning staff should address any dropped food on the floor and clean before seating go e guests. My soon tofu dish gotten cold before they brought out the rice, usually it is expected for the rice to come along with the hot bowl. The quantity of beef in the portion was lower than expected but it tasted really good. I will definitely revisit this place and try out some of the other dishes next time. If you are in the Rocky hill area try out this Korean Tofu place for sure. read more

Decided to expand our culinary horizons by going to a Korean restaurant tonight. I've had pho in the past but never really tried Korean food. I'm happy to report it was outstanding. We really liked it and even the apple flavored milk soda wasn't half bad. Yes soda made with milk. Not all milk but it has milk in it.. I dunno...it was good. Delicious! Love that you could get ramen instead of rice for the soon tofu - which is perfect for my little guy who always wants ramen! Love that we are able to get a non- spicy soon tofu for the little ones but it's still full of flavour. Fried tofu was also really good! Another awesome meal at angry tofu. Katie is just amazing. Everything that she cooks is outstanding. I always get the short ribs because they are just awesome but tonight folks at the next table were eating dishes that looked so delicious that I decided to go beyond my element and try something new. So tonight's dinner was Gamjatang, a delicious spicy bone soup with potato. I also tried the Bokkum Jjam Bbong...wow, delicious noodle dish...and the Pork Tang Soo Yuk, a fried delicacy not to be missed. A perfect meal with excellent service at a surprisingly low price (at least compared to my usual short ribs). A win, win, win. Love this place! read more

It's out of the way for me, but a friend of mine and I decided to get dinner here recently. Great food and great value, but they were a little off their game this time. What I ordered was steamed vegetable dumplings, fried tofu and tofu fried rice. Upon getting the dumplings, which I've never had there before, I noticed that they gave me meat-filled dumplings by mistake. A waiter came by and told me that they only have one type of dumpling, which is meat and vegetables mixed together, but the other waiter that took my order didn't inform me of that. They took it back with no problem, though. After that, they gave us the complimentary 6 mini appetizers that they give everyone when they order a main dish (which I think is fantastic). It was my friend's first time there so they asked for a description of all the apps. The waiter only described 2, then tried to leave. My friend had to ask a second time for the rest of the info. Kinda rude. Then our other food arrived . I always get the fried tofu appetizer. It's a generous portion, it's always nice and crispy, tofu is of good quality and it comes already dressed in a tasty sauce. Once again this dish was right on the mark. The fried rice was hot and flavorful with plenty of tofu and egg plus a decent amount of veggies. Very nice. I like to pair the lotus root app with this dish. Even though it seemed to be an off day for the staff, this is still a very nice place for Korean food. If I lived closer, I'd certainly come more often. read more

Every time we are there others (that are Korean) get the BonChon close to when they are seated. We get it after we get our food, even after we ask. Actually surprised I haven't reviewed this yet. Been a few times now and I like it! Great for small casual group dinners! Although there is a 20% tip for 6 or more. Unless you're bringing a huge party, there shouldn't be any wait and I find that they bring out dishes quickly. They always bring out the small plates (love that braised potato!) Probably the only place within a 25 mile radius where you can get gamjatang (pictured) - this is a Korean pork bone stew with a potato. It was still boiling when I took this picture and so scrumptious! I ended up taking leftovers and found it great with rice for lunch the next day. I also recommend any of the soondubus, which are tofus served in small black clay pot bowls called dolsots with plenty of spice (gochujaru and/or gochujang). Of the soondubus the mixed seafood and meat is a hearty dish but definitely not for the weak. If any of this sounds overwhelming - try the bibimbaps (rice salad bowls) or the ddukmangook (dumpling and rice cake soup. I actually wanted to get this first because it's traditional to eat this for the new year but I couldn't resist the gamjatangs) I will say that I'm not sure if the prices are fair. They do provide reasonably sized dishes for the soups and stews. However, not sure if the BBQ ones such as the bulgogi dish is really worth $30+. Another point I'll make is this isn't an ideal spot for people with many food restrictions; can go wild on the ingredients and I'm not sure how easy it is to exclude any one from these dishes. read more

I love how they bring out the 4 mini appetizer dishes: fish cake, pickled cucumbers in a kimchi-like sauce, omelet and sliced pickled cabbage. It's always neat to get a taste for something you may have not have ordered. The chapchae was very tasty, strong aroma's of sesame oil. I couldn't finish so I brought it home. The restaurant was pretty full. I would have loved it if they had a bar seating for solo diners, but I know they are limited by the building they have. read more

A fun and delicious night out with my Yelp Connecticut elite friends! A friend who's been there before did the ordering and nothing disappointed! From the apps to the Haemul Jungol I couldn't stop eating! I even bought home delicious leftovers. The fried dumplings & the short ribs were the best, I'd give them 4.5 stars. But the bulgogi was a let down, lack of flavor & it's a bit overly sweet, just ok, 3 star the most. I have been to many Korean restaurants in nyc ktown and the food at Angry Tofo was pretty comparable. I tried their LA Galbi, vegetable tofu soup and jajangmyeon. My favorites were the LA Galbi and jajangmyeon, the galbi was cooked perfectly. I've had better tofu soup, but it wasn't bad. Overall, I enjoyed the food and would come back! read more

I love this place! I had the Seafood SoonTofu- Soft Tofu and Seafood Soup. Regular/Medium was spicy for me. I also had the Ja Jang Bap- Rice w/ Black Bean, Pork Sauce and it was delicious. I need to come here more often. This food is worth the price IMO. read more
