This is a hidden gem in Glastonbury. It's a little hard to find but once you get there you'll be pleased. Around dinner time it was packed, but we are seated immediately and given our drink drinks and appetizers. It's inside of a plaza along with other places and it looks like it's under construction in some areas. I would say this has one of the best all you can eat sushi selections in the area. We picked a variety of them and they all came out great. I also enjoyed the fact that they do hand rolls as well. The Philadelphia hand roll was delicious! Highly recommend!

Tried my first AYCE sushi place last night and i dont know how i hadnt been before! Shokudo is a sushi factory but all the products are a banger. Its no frills, the lighting is harsh, the decor is not. Its even located in a weird confusing building with offices, gyms, lash studios, and the ghost if the 1990's.But that doesnt matter. We waited 20 minutes on a busy saturday night, and the wait was worrh it. The menu has all your standard sushi house fare, plus a large variety of fun rolls included in the AYCE. We ordered greedily, thinking the portion sizes are small, ransacking the appetizer portion. We did NOT get a sexond round because we overdid it in round 1. The portions are pretty big and all the seafood (calamari, shrimp) were quite substantial. You get three rounds of ordering and for a saturday night its 27.99/adult 13.99/kid. The maki rolls were my favorite. We got a golden dragon, a red dragon, and a pink lady. The fish dishes we gor (including pepper tataki) was very fresh and cold. The staff is busy here, getting their attention is tricky because of how hard they hustle. That doesnt really matter though. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, we will forsure be back.

May have found my new favorite local AYCE sushi spot! It's located in a little shopping complex (just follow the signs in the building) They have private rooms to accommodate larger groups which was nice for our party of 7. They checked on us often and our orders arrived pretty quickly. AYCE places tend to have rolls that all taste similar, but Shokudo does a great job with their selection of rolls. Fresh and flavorful! Another nice touch is how little rice they put in their rolls and not try to fill you with it. Some standout rolls include the Green Fire roll and Kill Bill roll. Can't wait to come back (especially for the matcha ice cream)!

This was my first ever All You Can Eat (AYCE) Sushi experience and it was amazing! The restaurant is super cute and cozy, and would make a great date spot. The AYCE Sushi includes hand rolls, special rolls, sashimi, ice cream, salads, and other appetizers. You are allowed to order three times, and as is typical at other AYCE places, you will get charged if you leave any food. The crab and seaweed salad was an amazing start to the meal. The special rolls were all really good and the quality of everything seemed great. I also really enjoyed the chicken teriyaki as a little bit of something different from the fish. At the time, they were running a buy one get one free deal on hot sake, and their house hot sake was very good. The service was also extremely fast and we were shocked at how quickly our special rolls came out. I highly recommend checking this place out and I look forward to checking out their regular menu at some point too.

I'm back after being gone for many years. This is the firmer Min Ghung located at 39 New London Tpke #LL5 (far left; second floor of the Glen Lochen mall). The owner remembered me! This is AYCE for only $28. They politely ask you to not leave any sushi rice. There are no "to go" boxes and leftovers will be charged accordingly. You just can't go wrong here. For my first drink, I'm having a Lychee Love made with Tito's Vodka (Grey Goose for me), Lychee nectar and fresh lychee fruit. Oh my! That is filled to the rim (or the crest)! It tastes great! It's not diluted one bit. You get your money's worth here! Another table was RAVING about it! For my first item, I'm having the House Salad (clean, cold iceberg b lettuce). I love this dressing! Next up, I'm having a Miso Soup. Miso soup is a traditional Japanese staple made with fermented soybean paste (miso), broth (dashi), and additional ingredients like tofu, seaweed, and vegetables. Lots of seaweed. This is delicious! It is served hot and quickly I might add! Next up, I'm having the Seaweed Salad. Very good! This is the high quality, solid green type. Yummy! Next up, I'm having the Spicy Jani (crab) Salad. Oh yeah! Good stuff! Best thing I've had so far! Wow! Next up, I'm having the Salmon Kama (fish collar). Oh yes! It is wrapped around kani! These nothing better than this! Add a little ponzu sauce. Wow! Next up, I'm having the Pepper White Tuna Tataki (lightly searing tuna with sesame seeds). Spicy! I like it! Bring it on! Next up, I'm having the Salmon Roe (eggs) sushi. This is truly a taste of the ocean! Next up, I'm having the Edamame (a Japanese term for "beans on a branch", refers to young, green soybeans harvested before they mature and harden). These are good! Nice and salted! Nice music here too. It is very relaxing. You may have noticed my unique way of ordering here. I put the course numbers on the ticket. Although it is not conventional, they have always done it right! They also brought out a small dish with wasabi and ginger. Wasabi is a type of Japanese horseradish. Though wasabi is known primarily as being in paste form, it's actually derived from grating the rhizome root of a plant that's native to Japan. Japanese ginger, also known as myoga, is a leafy herb with a distinctive flavor and crunchy texture. In its natural form, it has quite strong! I believe that competes the first page of my order. For my next drink, I'm having the Guava Cosmo made with Cruzan Guava Rum, Triple Sec and mango juice. Very good! Not as strong as the last one, but that's a good thing. Next up, I'm having the Spicy Tuna HAND ROLL, I love these sushi snow cones! Next up is the Salmon Skin hand roll. These are unique here. They are hard to find anywhere else! These are good! Next up is the Pink Roll. This is a rare, non-rice sushi roll filled with kani (crab) in a soybean wrap with avocado (which I love). No rice makes the sushi might lighter and easier to eat. For dessert, I'm having the Green Tea ice cream. I love the cute, little menu strip of paper. I love this stuff! What a great meal!

Finally the renovations are done and it's out with the old Min Ghung & in with the new Shokudo Sake bar! We've been waiting a loooong time since meeting the young idealistic 25 year old Ivan build his dream. Hubby loves the weekend AUCE menu at $27.99. It's a couple bucks less weekdays. Place is clean & bright, service is superb. Water always refilled & replenished food items come out well timed. 7pm Sunday is a light crowd tonight of happy patrons. If you don't partake in all you can eat like me, just order off the menu. I had a couple of rolls & I'm good to go! Price is nice for the two of us. Check out the new remodeled restaurant and Let me know your experiences. "Everything old is new again"! Happy healthy yelping, fellow foodies!

The place itself was cute and staff were friendly. We went for ACYE sushi for my cousin's birthday, was also reasonable priced. I was really excited as they had a lot of different specialty rolls than other ACYE places. But I noticed they had no sashimi, which I often get a decent amount of. The BBQ squid was rubbery and squishy at the same time, didn't have the nice charred edges of other places and the barbecue sauce on it wasn't that great. When our food came to the table, it looked nice. It took me a bit to figure why I felt like something was off, the sushi was very mediocre to me and I realized it was the texture of the sushi rice that was ruining the sushi for me. It was sort of mushy. We each got drinks, which were good, I got plum sake, which really just tasted like plum wine to me, but lucky for me, I also like plum wine. The cocktail my cousin got was good too and they had a deal where you get the second drink free, so that was really nice. They never came to refill our water, but we didn't ask either. Took them a while to give us our check, we did have to flag them down for that. Overall, it was ok, but I don't plan on going back.

Great selection of sushi items! Recommend the Sweet Lady and Kill Bill rolls. Love the matcha green tea ice cream too!

This place was called 'Min Ghung' previously, but recently has been changed to Shokudo Sake Bar! The place is located in the basement of the building. There is signs leading you to the restaurant when you walk into the building so don't worry, there is less chance for you to get lost. This place has a big parking lot so don't stress out about parking! This is our go to all you can eat sushi place! We went as a group of 4. Ended up ordering a bunch of items from the appetizer menu like, crab tempura, shrimp tempura, kani salad, seaweed salad, chicken katsu, calamari! We also ordered a few special rolls! For drinks we got the Tequila Sunrise and Margarita! We love the service! They are quick and efficient! Friendly to their customers! During our visit it was busy but not too busy. If you are looking for a quick hangout spot with lots of varieties of sushi to try from, I will definitely recommend this spot!

It has been a few years since I've visited which I will not be making that mistake again! Originally Min Ghung, but is now Shokudo Sake Bar is an AYCE sushi spot located in Glastonbury, CT! My friend and I came on a Thursday for dinner. It quickly picked up but customer service NEVER lacked. We got our food quickly everytime we ordered and were met by such kind people! They explained the menu to us and checked in consistently. The sushi was packed with fish and not overwhelmed with rice as most AYCE places are! The restaurant itself was very clean and the staff makes sure empty plates do not sit on your table for long! I will be returning soon for this local gem. It was delicious, well made, with awesome customer service! Highly recommend!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. BEST all you can eat sushi! $25.99 (weekday) $27.99 (weekend) not sure what category Friday falls into. They do have a regular menu although I have never ordered off of it! Never have I had bad sushi from here! The variety is fantastic, love you can choose some appetizers, sushi rolls/ pieces, as well as specialty rolls! Favorites starters: Kani salad House salad Chicken katsu Goyza Smoked salmon, tuna, seared salmon and tuna pieces always fantastic! Spicy scallop pieces are to die for! I can go on and on! If you haven't been here worth it! They just remodeled looks great although I miss their old lighting it was more dim. It was too bright in there this time. I also miss when they had fountain soda they only have cans now. A fountain soda is a treat for me wish they would bring it back. They are also not serving alcohol at the moment as they are getting a new liquor license.

Min Ghung is a sushi restaurant. It is located inside of what appears to be corporate offices. It's for sure a sneaky location. Once you find it, well the secret is out. I've been here many times through the years. They have an all you can eat menu, as well as a regular menu. It was $27.99 when I was there on Sunday for all you can eat sushi. It is a few dollars less during the week. The sushi is always fresh and tasty. I love seaweed salad, their portions are very generous. The mango sushi, (not sure of the exact name) might be my favorite. The edamame is also a big hit. After checking in on Yelp, I was presented with a coupon for 10% off. The service is very pleasant and quick here. If you opt for the all you can eat menu, you'll be given a print out menu, so you can check off all the items you're intrested in. The dessert selection is usually pretty disappointing. They usually never have what I ask for, and the fried banana wasn't very appealing. I suppose you can't have it all. But you can have all the sushi.

3 things about this restaurant: 1. The interior is different from other restaurants and it was a nice set up! Customers were seated every other table due to the pandemic so they are following strict protocols. Hand sanitizers are given as well. 2. The most important thing at a sushi place is the rice to fish ratio. This place does an amazing job of putting as little as rice they can and stuff the insides with tuna, salmon, imitation crabs, and so much more. Other restaurants put a lot of rice so customers can get full quicker but that is not the case here so I applaud the restaurant! 3. Quality quality quality! Their quality of their sushi/sashimi are AMAZING. If the fish is not fresh, it can taste fishy. I didn't taste any fishy-ness which means they are using high quality items. Although the waiter can forget a couple of things that you ordered and wishing they had more sashimi varieties, I highly recommend coming with friends or family when craving sushi because this was one of the best sushi places I have had in CT! Overall: 4.5/5

While many enjoy the entertaining hibachi chefs and diverse menu, some customer reviews mention inconsistent service and food quality, though the atmosphere is generally described as fun and vibrant, with happy hour available daily. This place is packed! Music seems authentic. They quickly seated us and served ice water. For my first drink, I'm having the Classic Manhattan made with Woodland Reserve bourbon, sweet vermouth, Angostura bitters and a brandied cherry. I like the garnish! This is balanced perfectly. I would prefer a large ice cube but not here. I like it! For my appetizer, I'm trying h the Spicy Edamame. Edamame is a popular East Asian dish of immature soybeans in the pod, typically boiled or steamed and served with salt, though it's also enjoyed in many other preparations like spicy garlic, roasted with parmesan, or added to salads and stir-fries. To prepare, the pods are cooked briefly and then seasoned, often with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, or chili, and can be served in the pod (popping beans out) or shelled. These are cooked perfectly! They are sliced more than you would expect! For my soup, I'm trying the Mushroom Soup. This is chicken broth with mushrooms and scallions. It's more well known as Hibachi soup. Hibachi soup, or Japanese clear soup, is a light, savory broth served as a starter in steakhouses. It is made by simmering chicken and beef broth with caramelized onions, carrots, garlic, ginger, and mushrooms for at least an hour. Key garnishes include fresh mushrooms, green onions, and fried onions. It's warm and tasty. The mushrooms are cut real thin. I am also getting the seaweed salad. Seaweed salad (wakame) is a nutritious, savory-sweet Japanese side dish featuring rehydrated wakame seaweed, toasted sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame seeds. Often served in sushi restaurants, it is high in vitamins K and C, calcium, and magnesium. It is best served chilled and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. This is good! I live this study! I'm also having the Green Garden Salad made with fresh lettuce, heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers "drenched" (well, no) on their "famous" ginger dressing. That is a LOT of dressing! Huge portion too! This is great! For another appetizer, I'm having the Sashimi Jalapeño which is jalapeño peppers over two pieces each of salmon, tuna and yellowtail finished with wasabi mayo. This is real easy to eat! Thanks for the extra jalapeños! For my next item, I'm having the Salmon Roe (Ikura). Red caviar, or salmon roe, is a popular delicacy of bright red-orange fish eggs known for their large size, juicy "pop," and mild, slightly salty flavor, making them a favorite for both caviar connoisseurs and beginners. Harvested from salmon, particularly from the Pacific, it's rich in omega-3s and used in dishes like sushi, on blinis, or as a garnish. Yummy! This is a taste of the ocean! For my next drink, I'm having the All Fashioned made with Bulleit Rye, lemon juice, simple syrup, All Dram Spice and Orange Bitters. This is well balanced and tastes great! I love the three Amarena cherry garnish! For my next item. I'm having the Spicy Salmon Roll made with chopped salmon, spicy mayo and crunch. This is tasty! Wow! For my entree, I'm having the [riceless] Pink Lady Roll made with spicy scallops, avocado, yellowtail, jalapeno and sriracha sauce. This is greats Nice and spicy! Melts in your mouth! For my last drink, I'm having the Jamaican Coffee made with Tia Maria and fresh brewed coffee. This is good! I added a little cream which is rare for me. For dessert, we are having the Tempura Ice Cream (green tea) and Vanilla Crepe Cake made with eleven harmonized layers of delicate, house-made crepes lightly frosted by a subtly flavored, lightly sweetened, velvety whipped cream stacked over a sponge-like base. These are good! The Crepe Cake is very light. What a great meal here!

For the main, the paella was -- rich, loaded with seafood (shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels, clams), and cooked perfectly. Paired it with a light beer which helped cut through the richness and kept everything balanced. Service was on point and the ambiance made it a great overall experience. Definitely a spot I'd go back to.

Max Fish used to be my favorite restaurant. I love fish, and I felt they always made fish front and…read morecenter to everything. They used to have "simply prepared" on the menu that was just the fish, with seasonings and complementary sides. That's gone from the menu. It was always perfectly prepared and complimentary to whatever fish you were having. Last night, that changed for me. I have noticed over my last few visits a change in the restaurant. At first, I thought it was just my tastes changing, but last night proved me wrong. I had the "North Atlantic Swordfish Saltimbooca". The description was "Proccuitto, mozzaella cheese, sage mascarpone, white polenta". Polenta is usually soft, with the fish on top. This was polenta soup, with the fish literally swimming in it. In addition, it was greasy. There was a lot of oil around the side. And on top of that, the mozzarella formed a rather nasty hard cheese coating on the fish that I removed to the side with my fork. It was one of the most unappetizing things I've had in a long time. The swordfish was completely lost; no flavor at all. After a few bites, I gave up on it. I also noticed that drinks have gotten smaller. I ordered a martini. It used to be quite generous (it is a $16 drink after all). The glass last night was much smaller, at the same price. The wine was good, but that was about it. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I should have gone with the Fish and Chips! Hard to mess that up.
