    Lunch buffet.

(This review is for their $8.95 lunch buffet) If you equate Chinese buffets with grease, fried everything, grease, and more grease, you will be as stunned as I was with the very good quality and choices from Ginger Root. First of all, they have fresh sushi made in front of your eyes by a sushi guy -all sorts of Nigiri and Maki - I enjoyed every one. Fresh, clean tasting, just really good. The hot buffet was one table, so you didn't see the repetitive dozens of trays with the ususal suspects. Lots of dim sum, though, and they were very good. I stuck mostly with the dim sum and sushi, and avoided the General Tso and Beef and Broccoli and Lo Mein and rice dishes. I did try a seafood curry -shrimp, scallops, squid -and it was wonderful -great zippy flavor and fresh! I didn't see any soups out, I did see a nice dessert table with fruit and cake, but I didn't go there. The place is small -4 booths and 8 tables. The lady running the floor was pleasant and attentive. All in all, a really good value. Just a note, it's tucked in the corner of the Shop Rite Plaza and is a little tricky to find.

Very convenient to order delivery via the Yelp app EAT24...seamless process. I liked the numerous YELP reviews and pictures, so while I could have dined in the restaurant I chose to order delivery. Online I order an appetizer called shrimp toast...what arrived was a triangle dough with perhaps a shrimp stuffing topping...I didn't like it, I'm not sure what I thought it would be but it certainly wasn't anything that I have knowingly eaten before... ...I also ordered a hot & sour soup. For my entree, I went round and round, having a hard time deciding on just what to order...I finally focused upon the Shrimp Tempura Dinner box...it comes with a small cup of miso soup, steamed rice and a salad. All said and done...the meal arrived at my hotel very timely, it was warm and tasty. Be prepared when you order delivery...it isn't free. My order had an added $3.50 delivery fee which I find acceptable. My next visit I plan to dine in an feel the ambience of the restaurant...!!!

Come here at least once a week for the lunch buffet. What a great deal! The food here is always fresh and delicious. Huge fan of the sushi buffet. Come here primarily for the sushi which is continuously made throughout lunch so you are never let waiting for new rolls. Fish is always fresh and very tasty. All the hot food seems home made and replaced throughout lunch. They have a small assortment of desserts. Can't beat the price, even if you come here just for the sushi the $9.99 lunch buffet price tag is incredible and is a hidden gem in the area. If you are looking for high quality affordable Chinese / Japanese food do yourself a favor and give this place a try. I know they also have an a la cart menu but I have yet to try it.

Enjoyed the lunch buffet! The restaurant was empty when we arrived so we were able to get first pick of seating. It was a smaller setup but included a variety of standard options. I loved the fried sushi and lo mein as well as their General Tso's. The sushi was limited in variety but very good. I was concerned regarding allergens but staff reassured me only imitation crab was used, their very helpful. I felt the food could have been warmer however, noticing the refilling of entrees was only done once as more people entered. I would still come back again especially with such reasonable prices.

Typical Chinese food. Dinner combos were around $8. Includes soup, rice, egg roll (or spring roll) and entree. See photos. Everything was very good, but not worth going out of your way for. I would recommend it if you are in the area and want a value priced sit down Chinese restaurant. We did not try the Japanese items. They run a small buffet at certain hours also. Was a little scared that the dining room was empty. Owner's children were in a corner table quietly doing their homework. Ask for sugar for my tea. Expected them to bring a few packets. She brought a saucer with a mound of sugar.

Ok... So fiance and I were NEEDING sushi in our life and it was 930 on a Monday night. As you can see from my last review I was/am absolutely fed up with this place... Well hunger and lack of ANY other sushi in the area.... We did what we swore we never would do again. We ordered from ginger root The guy whom we placed the order with told us 45 minutes as per usual. Wasn't really friendly at all and rushed me off phone so fast he almost forgot to take my credit card number. And in typical Ginger Root fashion we waited for over an hour. When the driver got here didn't call and say "hi your foods here" we got a call "yea food here open door" very snarkily like a command rather than a customer facing employee... What did we expect right? As for the food: This time around can't complain about the food. It was all fresh and made well. Please see pics. My rating this time has increased to two stars... As my other reviews read.. I need both customer service AND good food to even get close to 4-5 stars... My two stars have increased from one to two since the food was the best we've have from this place yet... Service still sucked. MAYBE well try this place again in a crunch like tonight and see if they are getting better

    The food here is delicious!

I'll never order sushi for pick up again! It's so much easier to just drive over and have the $9 all you can eat buffet they set up at lunch time. Fresh fruit, fresh sushi, and they usually have fried sushi, green beans, rice, and some totally amazing noodles. If you were to order a few rolls for pickup, it'd be almost $15. It's so much more worth it if you're in the EH area to just come in, sit down, and eat as much sushi as you can during your lunch break. Highly recommend it!

Horrible!!! Huge sliced rolls and bland $16 basic chicken! Horrible!

First let me say, if I could give 0 stars I would!! I went in at 7pm. Sad to see that the buffet was on my for lunch but that was my fault. I asked the gentleman if he can make me something that would be on the lunch special. He suggested the salt and pepper chicken. I agreed. I got 1 spicy tuna roll and 1 shrimp tempura roll. My total, $29.43!!! I paid and went to sit in the car. When I went back a mic utw later because reality set in, I was told I was as being charged $16 for the chicken with white rice meal because it was special order!!!! Its freaking breaded chicken with onions and pepper and salt!! My sushi rolls are sliced huge!!!!!!!! I could barely fit them in my mouth! Never again! Don't waste your money. See pics!!

Right now I am doing the Makayla Maroney's "I'm not impressed" face as I am writing this review. The price for the all you can eat sushi lunch buffet is reasonably priced at $8.99 per individual and they do continuously prepare their sushi as lunchtime progresses, but I am still not impressed with the variety or quality that they put out and would consider most, if not all, of the sushi that they had at their buffet to be basic rolls. One major thing that I noticed while eating their sushi was that the rice was over seasoned with vinegar and I really had to look for the other components of the sushi when eaten as a whole. When I am eating sushi, I usually expect it to be well-balanced, which was seriously lacking at Ginger Root. The service could be a little bit better since there were stacks of plates on my table on a day that I would consider to be quiet for lunch time. The server only came once to clear the table. ANOTHER MAJOR THING that I have to point out is that there was a lack of care in prepping their fish for their nigiri because I felt a pin bone when I had one of their salmon nigiri. Overall, $8.99 is reasonable for all you can eat sushi, but only if you don't care about quality or variety. It's what you get for what you paid for in the end.

While many enjoy the entertaining hibachi chefs and diverse menu, some customer reviews mention inconsistent service and food quality, though the atmosphere is generally described as fun and vibrant, with happy hour available daily. This place is packed! Music seems authentic. They quickly seated us and served ice water. For my first drink, I'm having the Classic Manhattan made with Woodland Reserve bourbon, sweet vermouth, Angostura bitters and a brandied cherry. I like the garnish! This is balanced perfectly. I would prefer a large ice cube but not here. I like it! For my appetizer, I'm trying h the Spicy Edamame. Edamame is a popular East Asian dish of immature soybeans in the pod, typically boiled or steamed and served with salt, though it's also enjoyed in many other preparations like spicy garlic, roasted with parmesan, or added to salads and stir-fries. To prepare, the pods are cooked briefly and then seasoned, often with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, or chili, and can be served in the pod (popping beans out) or shelled. These are cooked perfectly! They are sliced more than you would expect! For my soup, I'm trying the Mushroom Soup. This is chicken broth with mushrooms and scallions. It's more well known as Hibachi soup. Hibachi soup, or Japanese clear soup, is a light, savory broth served as a starter in steakhouses. It is made by simmering chicken and beef broth with caramelized onions, carrots, garlic, ginger, and mushrooms for at least an hour. Key garnishes include fresh mushrooms, green onions, and fried onions. It's warm and tasty. The mushrooms are cut real thin. I am also getting the seaweed salad. Seaweed salad (wakame) is a nutritious, savory-sweet Japanese side dish featuring rehydrated wakame seaweed, toasted sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame seeds. Often served in sushi restaurants, it is high in vitamins K and C, calcium, and magnesium. It is best served chilled and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. This is good! I live this study! I'm also having the Green Garden Salad made with fresh lettuce, heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers "drenched" (well, no) on their "famous" ginger dressing. That is a LOT of dressing! Huge portion too! This is great! For another appetizer, I'm having the Sashimi Jalapeño which is jalapeño peppers over two pieces each of salmon, tuna and yellowtail finished with wasabi mayo. This is real easy to eat! Thanks for the extra jalapeños! For my next item, I'm having the Salmon Roe (Ikura). Red caviar, or salmon roe, is a popular delicacy of bright red-orange fish eggs known for their large size, juicy "pop," and mild, slightly salty flavor, making them a favorite for both caviar connoisseurs and beginners. Harvested from salmon, particularly from the Pacific, it's rich in omega-3s and used in dishes like sushi, on blinis, or as a garnish. Yummy! This is a taste of the ocean! For my next drink, I'm having the All Fashioned made with Bulleit Rye, lemon juice, simple syrup, All Dram Spice and Orange Bitters. This is well balanced and tastes great! I love the three Amarena cherry garnish! For my next item. I'm having the Spicy Salmon Roll made with chopped salmon, spicy mayo and crunch. This is tasty! Wow! For my entree, I'm having the [riceless] Pink Lady Roll made with spicy scallops, avocado, yellowtail, jalapeno and sriracha sauce. This is greats Nice and spicy! Melts in your mouth! For my last drink, I'm having the Jamaican Coffee made with Tia Maria and fresh brewed coffee. This is good! I added a little cream which is rare for me. For dessert, we are having the Tempura Ice Cream (green tea) and Vanilla Crepe Cake made with eleven harmonized layers of delicate, house-made crepes lightly frosted by a subtly flavored, lightly sweetened, velvety whipped cream stacked over a sponge-like base. These are good! The Crepe Cake is very light. What a great meal here!

The Age Tofu was pretty good as a general consensus, though most of the fried stuff was a bit too oily. The Kani Salad was pretty good (their spicy mayo is tasty). The fish is decent quality and fresh. Most of the sushi didn't have too much rice, which I liked. The rice held together well. Still, I prefered the "tataki" (sashimi with ponzu) over the sushi. I do wish they had a regular scallop sushi, as the spicy scallop sushi is a small piece of scallop with lots of spicy mayo and rice. The special rolls (we got Fancy Tuna, Enter the Dragon, Mango Tango and Spider Roll) are pretty heavy, as most of the flavor is from the sauces. You can order things without the dressing or sauces (see the house salad without dressing....yes, it's just lettuce lol) Make sure to save room for ice cream! They have Vanilla, Green Tea (Matcha), Strawberry, and Fried (Vanilla). The Green Tea is a really strong matcha, which I love! For $28/weekend adult pricing, it's a pretty good deal.
