I've been wanting to check this place out for years and finally made it and honestly, it was just okay. We went on a Saturday night around 9, and since it's winter, the rooftop was enclosed, which was actually done pretty well. The setup was nice and they had a DJ playing old school hits, which I loved it definitely helped the vibe. That said, it wasn't very busy, but somehow the bartenders still took forever to serve us. The drinks were pretty mid, nothing special or memorable. I do like the area, and I'd probably come back in the summer just to experience the rooftop when it's fully open, but overall it's not really anything to write home about. read more

With the beautiful weather on Friday , I thought it was perfect to hang out with some friends and get a few drinks on a rooftop ! I heard of rooftop 120 and finally got a chance to try it out myself ! Located in Glastonbury center on the third floor above the Sakura restaurant. The view was perfect , we saw the most beautiful sunset ! - the drinks were good ! They have tsunami options which are huge! - they also have enormous sugar filled milkshakes /desserts I just had to try the Nutella brownie blast milkshake ( spiked of course ) ! - when the milkshake came I was a little disappointed in the presentation just because there was no chocolate syrup / extras on top like the picture on the menu. however it did come with the large brownie so I was happy about that . When I tasted the milkshake I couldn't taste any alcohol so I told the waitress . She confirmed that they did add it ... however I had to get an extra shot to get the alcohol and paid an extra $9 for the shot of Baileys ( I'm 100% sure there was none originally ) - once I added my extra shot the milkshake was great ! I also tried their flatbread pizza which was really good ! We enjoyed it a lot ! - the sliders needed some extra sauce . The only other issue was the prices were charged were about $1-2 different compared to the menu we were given . So they need to update the menus to reflect the updated prices as well . Rooftop 120 was so much fun! I called to make a reservation and the hostess was very pleasant over the phone. We wanted to have a group come to celebrate a birthday. Honestly this place is washed up. The only reason they get 3 stars is because of the "rooftop" seating. Drinks are fine. Food is fine. Service was good. But it feels like an outdated club for people over 50 (respectfully). Sitting outside above the plaza is cool tho especially w the fire displays going. A friend told us about this really cool place in Glastonbury, and after an elevator ride to the third floor, here we were at Rooftop 120! I wasn't planning on coming here because I thought it was just a bar, but come to find out, half of the place is a restaurant. Pro tip, Tuesday night, the restaurant side has plenty of room. You may have to fight for parking, however. Got 4 delicious appetizers because we went out of control, so we didn't need to order any entrees (definitely will get some next time). We started with truffle fries - loved the giant flakes of Parmesan pieces! The calamari were cooked beautifully, and may I note that it was plentiful. The mac and cheese with pulled pork was flavorful and filling. The boneless wings were crispy and delightful (it was the only dish we didn't finish because we were so full - but they were still crispy the next day!) My Mai Thai was great! The truffle garlic fries are tasty and flavorful. I also enjoyed the fried boneless wings! Did I mention the fries? Ha! We couldn't get half & half (2 flavors for 1 order of wings) so we got a few sauces on the side! The salmon sliders were good but the name was deceptive. They were not described as salmon "Patties" or "cakes" So I thought I was getting a tiny cut of salmon on a bun. Instead, I got something like a salmon cake slider. This was not described on the menu, so there wasn't a way to know this ahead of time. The buffalo chicken egg roll (I think) was so good! They fried them fresh, and stuff them to perfection. Came here for a girls night! Note but there is a cover charge & it is QUITE crowded on weekends. Now way to know how crowded until you pay and get up there but sometimes too crowded to get service. I've tried to come by on 3 or so occasions (and it's been on my list since I moved to CT) ... but I only had a drink one of those times. The other times we ended up just leaving and getting service elsewhere. The crowd "age-average" trends a little bit older than some other places in adjoining towns... I'd say average age is 30s & 40s for the party/weekend-drinking-scene & it absolutely always seems like a good time. I don't usually go into a place to not-have-a-drink or not-dine there and that's the only reason I deducted a star but I'm going to try to make it back in the future. Absolutely seems like a Glastonbury hotspot!! Note but the times I've tried to come by have all been between 8pm and 10:30pm on a Friday/Saturday night and I'm sure this contributes to the "vibe". Went here for ladies happy about on a Wednesday night and had such a great time. The bartenders are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is to die for. From you exit the elevator the decor and atmosphere is just amazing. The bar was beautifully decorated with fall leaves and lights and it was just breathtaking. There is out door seating as well but even with the heater, it was still cold since its fall. The view of the sunset was amazing. Everyone enjoyed their food and drink but I had some truffle Mac and cheese bites and it was not the best. I think it was because of the the truffle but maybe if it was regular mac and cheese bites I would gave enjoyed it. The sweet potato tots were really good. Waited patiently for this bar to open back up but was greeted with poor quality of bar maidens. They were barely responsive and always found there way to another side of the bar. Like the 3-star rating indicates, I would describe Rooftop 120 as simply "ok." The restaurant itself is pretty trendy and hip-looking. You take an elevator to the 3rd floor and are immediately greeted by a hostess who asks if you're dining in or just grabbing a drink at the bar. The hostess also offered to take my coat, which I thought was nice. The interior of the restaurant (especially the bar area) is nicely decorated, and you can definitely get some Instagram-worthy photos in front of the artificial leaf wall, mural, or giant mirror. The bar area (which is in a separate room from the dining area) is cool, with string lights hung, etc. Now on to the food and drink- My margarita (on the rocks with salt) was very good. I ordered the apple honey crostini for an appetizer, which was decent. For my main meal, I got the crispy shrimp tacos, which came with chips and salsa on the side. The tacos were mediocre at best, and same with the chips and salsa (the chips seemed a little stale). Kind of strange- the tortillas for the taco were super fragile, both of mine broke open as I attempted to pick them up and eat them, causing all of the contents to spill out of the bottom. I was a little disappointed with them... Last thing- when paying by credit card, the server brought the card reader over to the table, rather than taking my card to a register and coming back with the receipt. More convenient I guess, but you're then asked to type the tip amount in right in front of the server... I always feel pressured by this and just don't like doing that in general. Restaurant on the roof of a building in Glastonbury with both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as live music on Thursday and Friday nights In order to get to the restaurant you have to enter the building and then take an elevator (or the stairs) up. It is in a funny place for a rooftop restaurant because it overlooks a parking lot, and the patrons are primarily middle-age, but it is a good concept with lots of heaters outside for the colder weather. They have a small menu of basic American food, as well as a bunch of signature cocktails as well. My GF and I came for dinner and sat outside, and I ordered their Cesar Salad and a pretzel. I came on a Saturday, this is now the third time I've been here. I was pretty upset that they charged me a $10 cover charge when I was there to get dinner. They didn't have any tables left so of course I had to sit at the bar and they had a band playing. I just don't understand a restaurant making you pay money to go in when you are paying more on getting dinner. I could understand if you are there for the show and drinks. Aside from the cover charge for dinner, the place is really nice. They make excellent drinks that are nice and strong every time. This time I got the expresso martini and the mule, both were great! I love their cheese steak egg rolls, I have not seen them in a while but they are definitely number 1. Please bring them back. Recently I tried the buff chix egg rolls, they were pretty good just a little on the spicier side. We ordered a Caesar salad which was pretty average. For our entree we ordered the airplane chicken. This included roasted chicken, wild rice and sautéed carrots. It came out delicious. Chicken was nice and tender with a great flavor. And the sides were good as well. I like the atmosphere of this place I'm sure when the weather gets nice it'll be fun to sit outside on the roof. The band was good (although started a little late). Overall, DO NOT come here for dinner.... In addition, for a party of 6 or more they had the balls to add a 22% gratuity... We will decide how our service was and what they earned. I understand the party of 6 to add a gratuity, BUT 15/18% is the norm and I know this as I travel the U.S. for work and I'm fortunate to dine in restaurants well above my desire. I love rooftop 120 and have for years. If you're looking for a gorgeous venue, live music, amazing food and a stunning view overlooking Glastonbury this is the place. Before I get into how great the food is my biggest recommendation especially for weekends is to MAKE A RESERVATION. You will pay a cover charge otherwise on nights they have a live band. Also seating is hard to come by outside without a reservation. No matter how big or small your group is. Now onto the food I usually try different things every time i'm at Rooftop 120 because they do change their menu. This time I had shrimp Cocktail, Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese, short rib sliders and corned beef empanadas. The empanadas were just okay not my personal favorite. The shrimp cocktail was fresh with super large shrimp. The short rib sliders were perfection. The short rib was tender and easy to bite into. The sauce was a wonderful complement to each bite. Now for the absolute star of the show the Buffalo mac and cheese. I could not put my fork down. I was sharing with someone and had to physically stop myself from eating because of how good it was. It had the perfect amount of Buffalo sauce, chicken, cheese and noodles. The best Buffalo mac and cheese I've literally ever had in my life. I ordered one to go and demolished it hours afterwards. Do yourself an enormous favor and order this. They also have just plain Mac and cheese or you can pick different toppings. I came here with a friend on a Thursday afternoon to get some good happy hour that we saw posted on their site. Unfortunately when we got there we found out there wasn't any happy hour and only full pricing at the bar. A little disappointing since we saw it on their site online. But we sat outside which was very pretty, they have a nice bar and seating. The doors and windows were all open and since it was 90 degrees it was a little hot, but the occasional breeze made it ok. The bar tender was nice and checked on us frequently to make sure we were all set. I got a gin and soda which ended up being $10 which I found very expensive, so just keep that in mind when you order something that isn't on the menu. Overall its alright, a little pricey. I've heard a lot about this place and never actually made it here until I found a Groupon! Now on one of the last days for me to use it Tiffany and I finally made it here. Lol. Here's how it went. Atmosphere/Appearance: We came LATE on a Saturday night after a day of running around and at about 10:00pm, this place was dead. We were sitting on the Nosh 120 side (which is the restaurant portion of Rooftop 120). There was maybe 1 other table in the restaurant, but most of the other people were on the rooftop side where all the drinking and partying goes on. We just wanted to use our Groupon in peace. Lol. I loved the angled walls and how they flowed right into the ceiling and the big, soft leather chairs that engulf you when you sit down. The lighting was strategically placed and added to the overall modern feel of the restaurant. Service: Brittany waited on us and boy did she do a lot of waiting. Lol. We were her only table so I think we bored her by not giving her enough to do, but she was awesome. We had everything that we needed and quickly. We appreciated that. Food: The food was okay. I wouldn't seek out this place for the food... or for the food I had at least. A cheeseburger flatbread and some Brussels Sprouts. I probably could've chosen better options, but it was late and I didn't want anything super heavy. Value: The Groupon was valued at $35.00, but you can buy it for $19.00, but if you're really smart like some of us... you use the special codes and get it for 20% off making it even cheaper. My flatbread would've been $14.75 and Brussels Sprouts were $5.00. Pretty okay value even for not having a Groupon at all. In conclusion, I thought this place was pretty good and deserves a 2nd chance. So I bought another Groupon and will try this again! Maybe we'll make it over to the rooftop side this time! Went there a couple nights ago and ordered the shamrock shake martini. We were the only ones there and I was pleasantly surprised that at least one other group of people weren't in attendance from 4:20pm-5:30pm. The drink was spectacular and so was the service. It's hard to put my finger on it but there just was nothing in the menu that seemed appetizing. There definitely wasn't anything vegan-friendly for my guests. Food wasn't nasty, sangria was good, but the way I got sick was frightening. . The tapas menu is over priced and not all that. Worst experience I've had at a restaurant. Supposed to be a nice birthday celebration for my girlfriend, but was almost ruined by a passive aggressive manager and a barely available server. Made reservations to be seated outside on the rooftop, but my reservation was not honored, and other people had the same issue, apparently they let anyone sit outside and you don't need a reservation, first come first serve is what i was told and that the reservations are only for the inside which makes no sense because people go to Rooftop120 to be seated in the rooftop area. Waited almost a hour for 2 cocktails while we watch others who order after us get their drinks before us. We were given water to drink in cups off some random table with watermarks and lip prints on the cups. After the appetizer, we finally get our drinks we were told the bar was packed, guess the bar was packed only when we needed our drinks. We finished our drinks then waited until she came back around and asked for the check. She didn't do well at all never asked if we wanted more drinks or anything. Then after the sorry service and experience she tried to slide 20% onto the bill. I always leave a tip because I've work tip based jobs before so I get it, but I just couldn't bring myself to tip especially after almost ruining my girlfriend birthday dinner. We had to go to another restaurant after we left here. Seems like they're more worried about having influencers there to build up that online clout. I had made reservations for 6 p.m. (Saturday) not knowing if it was going to be seating available. I was a little confused on how to get up to the rooftop you have to enter through a hallway in the front there is a Japanese restaurant there, but you take an elevator to the third floor that's located in that lobby. It was a very romantic modern style booth & the ambience of the place was great for a date night. The dining area is separate from the rooftop bar which is very cool once you see it. Our waitress Briana gave us fantastic service all night with making our drinks to checking on us often and clearing plates away as we made them. For drinks we ordered a mango Mai Tai which has coconut rum, triple sec, mango puree, pineapple & lime juice, amaretto and also a dark rum too. (9.75) Very delicious!!!! I ordered two it was so good. Hubby ordered the rooftop hurricane which was rum, southern comfort, pineapple & oj with grenadine. Deciding on Philly cheesesteak egg rolls for an appetizer was a good choice. A little messy, but had thick cuts of luscious steak inside . It had a cheese whiz type sauce which made it a little too juicy hubby decide to use a fork,lol . I just sopped it up in the incredibly delicious horseradish crema that was underneath.They are nice size filled with shaved prime beef, house-made cheese whiz, and caramelized onions. If you tell them "we'll done," They will incinerate it! (At least that was MY experience there, recently). No pics this time (maybe next time). The appetizer fries were served in a conical contraption that was interesting. No crowd at 5 PM, and we didn't hang around to find out if it got busier; but we saw no other dining room guests during our hour there. They seemed to have a steady flow of entertainment, daily; at least according to their advert. Their parking was a NIGHTMARE, and we ended up in an underground parking garage next door. This was my second time at Rooftop and I can say that both times, the staff has been very accommodating and welcoming. The first time I came, we were seated outside but got too cold as the night went on so we asked to change our seats. They moved us indoors with no complaints. The most recent time I was there, I had originally made a reservation for 2 tables (since each party had to be 6 or under). Not everyone was able to come so I asked if we could have just one big table for 6. On the phone they informed me it would be hard to do. However, upon arriving, they were able to give us a table to fit everyone. The food and drinks are amazing. The margaritas are not only good, but about the size of your head! What a disappointing dinner; the drinks were very average, the ambience was extremely loud. For the appetizers we got the Thai calamari and it was ok, the Thai sweet sauce was smeared on calamari and it was ok. What disappointed me the most was my entree dish - steak and Frites, I asked for the steak to be medium rear and oh boy the steak was so freaking stinky and very bitter. I could not finish a bite of it. The waitress was kind enough to take it back. I ordered for the philly cheese steak flatbread instead and it was good. I've been to Rooftop before and my experience was good. The two star rating this time around was only because of the bitter piece of steak. Cashed in our Living Social deal and had a late lunch/early dinner here this afternoon (Sunday). Rooftop 120 is a pretty large establishment, there is a traditional dining room if you want a traditional dining room, and they also occupy the rooftop space; broken down into a large covered central bar that is flanked by uncovered tables for a true outdoor experience. There are large overhead heaters so you can have enjoy rooftop dining in December or January if you want to. So Rooftop 120 gets 5 stars for creativity and style and for a real unique look. Feels more like upscale Miami than suburban Glastonbury. I hear the nightlife is pretty crazy here, but since we were there on a Sunday afternoon and the place was fairly empty, I'll review the food. We started with cocktails - a nice cold Stella Artois draft was $5.50. My son went for a New Castle draft, also $5.50. Pretty fair prices for a nice place. We shared a marinated calamari salad, which was a very good value for $5.75. It was a generous portion (see photo) of tender delicious calamari, cooked perfectly without the rubber band quality I run into a lot. It was served with seaweed and julienned veggies in a nice citrus ginger dressing. It was very good, We each had an entree. My wife had the Tacos de Carne - $12.75 for two corn tortillas with beef, served with creme fraiche, cilantro, cabbage, and queso fresco. It came with no accompaniments- no guac, no salsa, no sour cream, no beans and rice. The plate looked very light, although the tacos were very good. My son had Murray's Fried Chicken - $18.75 for three (rather small) pieces of buttermilk fried chicken served with truffled mac and cheese and siracha honey. Yes, the food was good, but for almost $19 it looked light. I had the Gourmet Turkey Burger - $14.75 for a GIANT ground turkey patty served on a fresh roll with oyster mushrooms, brie, carmelized onions, a half of a pickle, and a good mound of french fries. It was delicious and a pretty darned good value. (I shared the fries with the others). Our total was $84.55, with $28 of it attributable to the 5 beers we had. Looking back on the meal, I feel the food pricing was kind of OK, but two of the 3 plates seemed a little light in the value department. This is a nice place, not a dump, so I'm OK with paying a little more for food, especially when you take the unique layout and rooftop experience into consideration. The food is not good. They were out of the carnitas tacos so the bartender suggested the Ahi Tacos. They were lukewarm and soggy. I would have said something of he had checked on us.
