It's been almost 2 years since we were last here. It's no longer chaotic, and actually very enjoyable to eat here! They now leave a personal ordering pad to place your orders, ask for refills, and call your server over. Now you don't have to feel like you're being rushed, and can order on your time, and relax with your company. Just be careful not to accidentally toggle out of English. Unless you can read Chinese!

Broth tom go gai- did not like it at all and we eat this soup regularly at other restaurants

We were really looking forward to this place but were highly disappointed. The first thing was the staff , they are in your face the ENTIRE time , just staring . Meats were tough no matter what we did . You can only pick one broth at a time but they gone so much you can't finish . The restaurant itself nice with ample seating .

Walking into the Hungry Pot felt like I'm walking into a nightclub. They had loud music blasting and lights flashing. It looked very modern and promising. Hungry Pot is a Korean BBQ. Depending on when you go, the cost will vary. It was $32.99 per person when we went on Sunday night. For an additional $5 per person you can have access to their hot pot soups. Since it was our first time here, our waitress showed us how to order. They have a buffet with sauces, crab legs, some salads and fruit. Each table receives an iPad for ordering, you can select your category then order. The food was delivered to us quickly, then pretty soon after we felt like we ordered a bit too much. They have a large assortment of meats and seafood. I especially enjoyed the octopus and the oysters. The quality of all meats isn't up to the same level. There's no way you will leave hungry. I would love to try their soups sometime.

After leaving CT and living in the Bay Area for 3.5 years, I was pleasantly surprised to come back and see much more AYCE Korean BBQ and hotpot options now available in the central CT area! I came to Hungry Pot after a few friends of mine had raved about the good deal - it did not disappoint! For only $32.99, you can choose between AYCE Korean BBQ OR Hotpot - and for only $5 more, you can have both! Both options include full access to the snack/sauce/app bar which includes massive snow crab legs and crawfish for dinner which easily lets you get bang for your buck. I ended up going with both the BBQ and hotpot and found that overall meat quality was fresh. Service was quick and I left FULL. I will be back the next time I'm in CT!

$40 pre tip for both all you can eat KBBQ and hot pot dinner menu is decent (pretty good deals offered during lunch too). This included broths, sauces, snow crab legs, crawfish. Menu is on the website and there is a very good variety. Items came out immediately after you placed an order on the iPad. After 2 large rounds of orders, the waitress came back and asked "is that it?", surprised that we were already done Favorites: Marinated short ribs, shrimp, and spicy pork belly.

We were seated quickly on a Saturday during typical lunch hours. I can't believe how quick the service was. Once you order from the tablet, even multiple times the food is at your table before you have time to finish mixing your sauces at the sauce bar. So much selection!!!And everything was fresh. My daughter and I enjoyed the hotpot and bbq option. My personal favorites were the pig cheek and short ribs. Looking at what we ordered I thought there's no way we could finish, but we did and ended up ordering two more times. Next time I will opt for barbecue only. I tried two different broths and they were great ( tom yum was a bit spicy for me). And the pork broth was mild. I just loved sizzling everything up on the grill and dipping in various sauces. The staff were great and joked with us. I highly recommend.

Although Hungry Pot is both a Korean BBQ and Hot Pot restaurant, I visited for lunch BBQ. I've had Korean BBQ a few times at a few different places, which certainly is not enough times to make me an authority. With that said, I found my food experience at Hungry Pot to be generally enjoyable but somewhat mixed in terms of quality. With an all you can eat lunch deal of around $20 per person, Hungry Pot isn't priced to be a high end Korean BBQ experience, but the BBQ part of the lunch was pretty good. For lunch, you can select from meats and fish like beef, chicken, salmon, squid and pork and vegetables like mushrooms, corn and zucchini. The meats may be sliced very thin for Bulgogi style or a bit thicker like pork belly. They may be marinated, seasoned or more plain. You grill the meats and veggies on a heated metal surface in the middle of your table. The outside of the circular grill surface has some vents which seems to allow for the equivalent of faster and hotter direct grilling. The middle does not have the vents and seems to be for more slower indirect heat grilling. I like to cook, so I found the process of cooking Bulgogi style chicken and beef and pork belly fun. There is a sauce station where you can mix your own sauce from various ingredients or choose some pre-made sauces. I like to mix sauces at home and I'm used to working with Asian sauces and condiments. So again, I enjoyed this. The same area has a buffet where you can select things like daikon radish, seaweed salad, popcorn chicken, squid, Spring Roll and kimchi. The versions of these things were at best average and weren't really a selling points for me like they are in some Korean or other restaurants. The meats and seafood seemed like decent, but not exceptional quality. The pork belly was my favorite followed by the beef Bulgogi. The squid, which was in larger sections than say something like calamari and was tough to chew. The chicken was OK. The sauces definitely help improve the experience. I was surprised at how busy and lively the restaurant was for a Friday lunch. There were many tables and about 80% were taken. Service was pretty good, but they're a new enough restaurant that they're still working out some things. The place had a fun vibe. I recommend Hungry Pot for the experience and the food is overall pretty good too. I suspect people who are very experienced with Korean BBQ would find the food quality about average. Less experienced people like me are probably more likely to focus on a cool experience that is not found in abundance in the area. 3.5 Stars

So different from any other restaurant I've ever been to! Fresh delicious ingredients and they will bring you as much as you want! We did the hot pot (everyone at the table must pick the same - either hot pot, bbq, or you can do both for an up charge). We had everything from broccoli to sirloin to shrimp to gyoza that we cooked in our individual broths that you could spice as you wanted. Then there was the "salad bar" - full of spices and sauces and then fresh fruits and CRAB LEGS! They were so tasty! It was such a fun night, with families all around us celebrating birthdays! Saw a few couples on dates as well. Delicious, clean, professionally staffed and while $32 sounds expensive (to me) for dinner, it was well worth it!

My expectations aren't super high, but I think the "ska club," "night at the Roxbury" music playing…read more that didn't fit the vibe might have something to do w/ it. There were 6 other people at the bar, a couple in the corner & a table if 6 behind me. The manager came out to talk to the couple in the corner about their experience, which is not a great sign, but we'll see. He saw that I was writing a review & never went back in the kitchen after that, unless it was for a brief moment. He involved himself in pouring drinks & barely left my side. He made small talk & I learned that he had been open for 4 years. It was difficult for me to eat, take pictures of the food or write the review with his constant engaging presence. He was pleasant & made sure to pick up the bartenders slack. For instance, a coaster under the drinks, offering me a glass, or putting down a placemats under the food or supplying silverware, none of which she did. I ordered a Modelo, but when she grabbed it out of the cooler, i saw that it was Especial not Negra, so i asked do you have the dark? She said no & w/ out hesitation opened it, not giving me a chance to ask for something different. Not a big deal, but she seemed indifferent & with no affect. None of this is a deal breaker, just an observation. The food, that was a deal breaker. I ordered the (smoked BBQ sandwich) & opted for the brisket. It came with a side & I chose onion rings. They were pre-salted, almost too much, but they were good. No complaints there. The sandwich however was impossible to eat. The meat was very tough & stringy. It was impossible to tear, bite or cut. The roll was soft, untoasted & soggy, causing it to fall apart making a mess. I gave up, turning to fork & knife to cut what resembled a tangled bunch of hair in both in taste & texture. There was something on the meat, but it was more of a marinade than BBQ as we know it. The same goes for the cheese. I did not see any caramelized onions, but there were two jalapeños. The owner asked how the meal was & I said eh. He said only ok? so I elaborated. He said he would relay the information to the kitchen & I thanked him. After that he never came back into the dining area until after I had left. I do feel bad writing this review because he was so overly involved in my experience & he was a nice gentleman that I would like to succeed, but I do not think I would want to return there after my experience with that sandwich, especially for the price. The meal alone was bad enough. Maybe a change in staff would help, unless they were related. I felt bad writing this review because the owner made it a point to be overly engaging with me once he saw that i was writing a review, but the better way to handle things is to make sure that you guest's experience is top notch. I felt like he tried to keep me engaged, so i wouldnt be rough on him, but it is supposed to be about the customers experience, not my empathy for the friendly owner. I wish him the best of luck.

It wasn't wine that I had too much of It was a double shot…read moreof my baby's love" (The Swinging Medallions) We had a Double Shot of fun at Smoke last night when we enjoyed a Dumpling Making/Prosecco Tasting Experience followed by a terrific dinner. Shout out to Smoke's owner Rich who dreamed up the Dumpling/Prosecco Experience for a dozen regulars and social media followers. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Rich and a small split of Maschio Prosecco. After all the participants arrived, Rich's wife Claire and Claire's mom (the star of the show) walked us through the process of making homemade dumplings. Claire and her mom made the simple dough using just two ingredients -water and all-purpose flour. We watched our instructors mix the dough, stretch and roll into a thin rope, snap it off into small chunks, squish it into a disk, use a mini-rolling pin to flatten it out into a small circle, fill it from a pre-made bowl of Ground Beef and Cabbage, then fold and pinch it into shape. Then our dozen attendees tried their hand at replicating all of those steps. Our mother and daughter team's dumplings looked as though they came off a 3D printer- just perfect and uniform. Mine looked like rejected factory seconds. The mother didn't speak English, but I had a blast watching and copying her little tricks on folding in the corners and squeezing the wrappers together. Once the dumplings were folded and squeezed together, they went into a pot of water, and we all enjoyed them before dinner. Dinner was a real pleasure. I loved the vibe at Smoke. If you want to cool it hip and chic I won't argue. I loved all the paintings on the wall. There is a large painting of a ghostly looking, red-lipped female blowing out a puff of smoke. I told Rich what a cool painting it was, and he modestly said he had painted it. So not only is Rich a fun and engaging personality, and a talented painter, but the food at his restaurant is great. Our friend ordered a $15 Spicy Smoked Philly Cheesesteak with American Cheese, Peppers, Onions on a Grinder Roll with fries. I sampled a small slice, and it was terrific, and yeah -it was spicy. My wife ordered a $11 Shrimp and Roasted Corn Bisque served with pita chips, She loved it. I ordered a $10 Smoked Beef Brisket Chili served with tortilla chips. It was a big portion, full of flavorful chunks of beef, and packed just enough heat to make it perfect to my taste. Smoke offers a Sunday Brunch from 11-3 and a Happy Hour Mon-Sat 4pm-7pm. Their pricing is excellent, the vibe is super fun, the food is delicious, and the service from Rich and his staff is excellent. What a fun evening!
