    Menu - Sushi

What a pleasant surprise to finally find Kimbap (and so much more) close enough to run out for pickup during weekday work lunch. The kimbap options are 50/50 vegetarian & meat/seafood with options for a variety of tastes and dietary requirements. Clean, friendly and quick service. Now I'm tempted to try everything on the menu as a weekly treat

Deep fried chicken and veggie potstickers

I enjoy hole in the wall cafes like this Came here since the reviews were good and we wanted to try something new. Place is tucked away in a plaza with a big sign advertising lawyers and other specialists. Place looks like a small house, with a few seats inside. You order at the counter, menus are on full display and lots of options are available. The place is a mom and pop operation, with the lady making the helm while the guy does the cooking. The food is awesome, well done and cooked properly. For negatives, the potstickers were deef fried rather than pan fried. That and the Korean fried chicken wasn't tempura battered and seemed frozen. The flavors were solid and well done. The spicy Kani salad and the special roll had a good spice kick to them. The flavors were pronounced and not overwhelming. Everything was done well and tasted awesome. I will be back again, and if you're in the area this is a very valid option to choose

    BT Curry Rice

As a Korean, I am very picky with Korean foods. This place was good and had great flavors and most importantly, great quality. I had the privilege of having the BT Curry Rice and what I liked about this menu was tasting different proteins (pork katsu, shrimp tempuras, and a sausage). Curry had great flavor as well. I would give 5 stars but the location seems to be out of place. I wish this place was more known to others who live near Vernon area. Overall, very satisfied and will be back!

So good- the food at this place is delicious and top notch! The owners are so sweet and always spot on with pick up times. We love getting the Loco moco and the spicy Korean BBQ sandwich. If you want some awesome food, definitely stop in!

Chicken Cutlet Curry Rice & Dynamite roll

The owners were sweet. Food was great! I was surprised by how much sushi they gave us. Usually, I only get 6 pieces at other places. Definitely get the dynamite roll if you're feeling spicy !

This spot hidden in the cut behind the beat and path is gotta be this town's hidden gem!! I got the curry chicken topped with a fried egg was my first having this combo and can't wait for my next experience here. Full of flavor in every bite. The roll is called out of control & it is!!

What an excellent find. It's a small cafe with limited menu however what is offered is done very well. We arrived early so we were the only ones there. The owner was friendly and guide us as we explored the menu. We had the chicken ramen (option of mild or spicy; choose the spicy, of course) and beef loco moco and bubble tea (mango and coffee flavors). The ramen was big, rich broth, fresh vegetables, and right noodle consistency and overall balanced. My son enjoyed the loco moco and was obsessed with the sauce (gravy) and devoured the whole thing. The only somewhat complaint was that the mango bubble tea didn't taste of mango but more of vanilla. Other than that the whole experience was wonderful. This is a very small cafe, and a little hard to find. Parking is available in the back but there was a big sign to guide you. It is BYOB if you are coming for dinner. My son kept on mentioning that it was like you went to someone's house and had a great meal. Again, what a great find and will be returning to try on the rest of the menu.

Consistently excellent and fresh. Spring for the Fantasy Platter. You'll be glad you did.

I moved to Vernon 2 years ago and little did I know there was this gem hidden in the corner! The food brings me back to Hawaii along with a deli section. I had the the BT rice curry. everything was delicious !! The chicken katsu was not super dry, the shrimp tempura was beautifully placed. I will be back to try out their boba and Loco Moco !! I will be back very often.

    Tradition beef Loco Moco
    Elizabeth H.

Absolutely delicious! I never thought I would find loco moco on the mainland, never mind in Eastern Connecticut! Everything my husband and I ordered was so good. I got the traditional beef loco moco, and my husband got the Boston curry with chicken. I enjoyed the loco moco so much, I forgot to give my husband a taste! We also got some sushi, which was also really good. We are definitely coming back to this place!

I'm back! The restaurant is located at 415 Hartford Tpke, Vernon, CT. It's been about four months…read moresince I was here. This is a family run, laid back place. The music is Classical Japanese. For our first drink. We are having a French Martini made with Grey Goose vodka, Chambord and a splash of pineapple juice. This taste great! They don't use garnishes here and I don't really care. It's well balanced! For our first item, we're having the House Salad. This is made with iceberg lettuce snd a little tomato. This ginger dressing is the best! I love this stuff! For out next item, we ate having an "Oki salad." A traditional Samurai Salad is a Japanese-inspired dish featuring grilled firm tofu, mixed greens, and a pungent ginger dressing. Key ingredients include firm tofu, soy sauce, white wine vinegar, grated fresh ginger, sesame seeds, green onions, and tomato slices. It is often garnished with toasted sesame seeds and served with a soy-ginger vinaigrette. Well, whatever it is! It's quite good! Wow! For our next item, we are having the miso soup. Miso soup is a traditional Japanese staple, combining savory, umami-rich miso paste with a dashi (fish or kelp) broth, typically featuring tofu, seaweed (wakame), and green onions. It is simple to make in under 20 minutes, offering a nutritious, comforting side dish known for aiding digestion, high protein, and mineral content. This is nice and hot! Huge bowl too! For our next item, we are having edamame. Edamame is an East Asian dish prepared with immature soybeans in their pods, which are boiled or steamed, and may be served with salt or other condiments. It is consumed in many world regions. Edamame is a common side dish in Chinese cuisine, Japanese cuisine and as an appetizer to alcoholic beverages, such as beer or shōchū. As an ingredient, edamame is used in both sweet and savory dishes, such as takikomi gohan, tempura, and zunda-mochi. These are steaming hot! Nice and salty too! Well, put comes the complementary Tuna Tataki. This thinly sliced seared tuna with ponzu sauce. This is fantastic! Wow! For our next item, we are having the Blackened Salmon which is sliced with ponzu sauce. This is spicy! Add soy sauce! This is great! For our next drink, we are having a Melon ball made with Midori vodka and orange juice. This is well balanced! No garnish as normal here! It tastes great! For our next item, we are having Ikura. Red caviar, also known as salmon roe or ikura caviar, is a popular seafood delicacy that comes from salmon and trout roe. It's known for its bright orange color, medium-sized eggs, and thin shells. Red caviar is a staple of Russian cuisine, often eaten during holidays like New Year's. It's high in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals, and is considered a good source of nutrition. Different types of salmon roe have unique tastes, colors, textures, and sizes. A "taste of the ocean." What's better than that! For our next item, I'm having the Spicy Eel and Shrimp Hand Roll. A hand roll (temaki) is a cone-shaped sushi item featuring seasoned sushi rice, fillings (sashimi-grade fish, seafood, vegetables), and a crisp, toasted nori sheet wrapper. Assembled by hand and eaten immediately by hand (without chopsticks), it offers a customizable, crunchy, and easier-to-make alternative to traditional maki sushi. These are good! Sushi snow cones! For our last drink, we are having the Caribbean Joy. This is made with Bacardi rum, pineapple and lemon juice. This is good! It's the rum version of the last drink! It's quite good! For our entree, we are having the Volcano Roll made with peppery salmon, gently fried, spicy tuna and red/hot sauce. Look at the presentation! OMG! For dessert, I have no idea what's coming out! Oh yeah! This is the bomb! OMG! The surprise of the night! Tempura ice cream! What better than this!!!!

Have been here several times through the years, it's been a few since the last time we ate here…read more Unfortunately, this visit left me afraid to ever go back. We stopped in around 3PM, no one else in the place at the time. We spent $75, no alcohol (+$20 tip). Appetizers, included salads, miso soup, chicken tempura and softshell crab. Main courses were seafood tempura and cashew chicken. Nothing seemed to be extraordinarily bad or good. I did notice a fly buzzing around, something that could be concerning, especially inside a sushi restaurant. I didn't give it much thought, I just remember noticing it. Later that day and night, we both began experiencing gastrointestinal issues, requiring many trips to the bathroom, it lasted thru to the next day. If it had only been just one of us, I probably wouldn't have given it much thought or would be leaving this review,. However, since we both had problems, I feel I should put it out there in case anyone else reading this had issues (or worse) from that day (Thursday, 10/30/25). We did not get sick to our stomachs, just 14-16 hours of staying close to the bathroom. I have always enjoyed everything at Higashi and never had a complaint, I say they were all 5-star experiences. After this, I won't risk coming back- I have no doubt we were served something that caused our intestinal distress. Service was great, place appeared clean and why I gave 2 stars. But it bothers me to see any flies inside an eatery, especially since the season and weather was not conducive for fly breeding, flies had to originate from inside the restaurant, they did not wander in from outside.... I've seen too many 'Bar Rescues' to know not all kitchens are kept clean and/or food stored safely. If one sees a fly or flies, it may be in one's best interest to walk out. This rule can be applied to any restaurant, especially ones that not open to the outside and/or during a season that is well past fly-breeding conditions. I learned the hard way and will make this a rule of thumb from now on.

A better than expected all you can eat locale…read more Came here because it was close by and they recently revamped their dine in to include boba tea and an all you can eat sushi and Chinese menu. Decided to give it a try and see how things turned out. Inside is clean and decorated well. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We told them we were doing the all you can eat, and got our ordering menu. Interestingly, they included boba tea as an option on the all you can eat menu. so we got drinks to try. They were a little sweet but tasty. We ordered a smattering of bites, with the idea that the plates would be tiny and we could try a bunch. The portions were smaller, but still very massive. There was many times we would take bites and it would look like nothing was eaten. You need to make sure you order light when picking your choices. The bites were seasoned well, tasty, and plentiful. The highlights being the garlic shrimp and the pepper tuna tataki. The sushi rice is seasoned correctly, and the fish was fresh. The taste of the rolls was a little bland, but soy and the wasabi aoli helped out. They do have the stipulation of food waste costing more, so the mass amounts of food did give us pause. The server assured us that there would not be any charges as they figure out how to portion. But it did limit our ordering. For the price, the quality is actually pretty good. It's pricy for the area, but you're not going to go hungry. If you get a chance to try them, they are a great option for a meal. It's not worthy of a trek, but versus other restaurants of that style you would be hard pressed to find better.

It's a takeout spot, so as it seems every Chinese restaurant the order is always ready when you get there, not much waiting. Reasonably priced and our go to place now for Chinese!
