I like this place, but this is the second time I was caught off guard that their kitchen closed 30 minutes before closing.
3.3 stars. I'm a boba tea fan and had to check this place out. The interior was spacious with simplistic decor; white sofas, tables with games on it (Uno, blocks, Connect 4). There were plenty of seating and a couple of high chairs which is perfect for my little one. I loved the kiosks where you can order and pay. Parking was plentiful and spacious. I ordered the creme brulee brown sugar milk tea with tapioca ($6.45); you can customize less ice, more sugar, etc. For food, I had the Korean Corn Dog ($4.50) with fish sausage/potatoes, ketchup, and Japanese mayo and popcorn chicken. So why three stars? When I walked in, there wasn't any eye contact or greetings from the employees. The boba tea was disappointing; sweet at the bottom and the tapioca was warm, a few sips later, it just tasted like bland milk; I tried mixing it but still bland. I won't order that flavor again. The Korean hot dog was delicious! The popcorn chicken ($11.95) was okay, it's crunchy with a light batter and some flavor, it came with a good amount of chicken; a dipping sauce would've amped that up but none was provided. In the end, yes I would go back to try out the other boba tea flavors and appetizers.
In Avon I stopped to get a bubble tea at The Whale Tea Ramen. It's such a beautiful space inside. They have the cutest white couches, with some tiny succulents on the wall behind them. There's also high tops for sitting. The whole space looks very clean and crisp. They have so many options of bubble tea, fruit, milk or slush. I went with peach fruit tea. It was ready pretty quickly. I was a bit disappointed there was no tapioca in it. The tea its self came in a sturdy plastic cup, and was absolutely delicious. I didn't ask for tapioca because I assumed it came with all the drinks. There were a few small pieces of cut up peach at the bottom. This tea was really good because it was cold and refreshing, and had a good peach flavor without being overly sweet. Now I know, next time I'll have to ask for tapioca. It's not bubble tea without the tapioca.

Its on the left side of the main plaza entrance from Route 44, and there is plenty of parking behind the store. You would expect a place with "tea" in its name to have plenty of teas, right? Well you won't be disappointed by the Whale because you can choose among milk teas, crystal teas, Crème Brûlée teas, fruit teas, fruit milk teas, milk foam teas, slush teas and Ooling teas. We split an excellent large Oreo Milk Tea with Boba. Now since we were there for lunch we checked out their food choices, and there was also a lot to choose from. They have half a dozen ramens including a Kimchi ramen for the adventurous. We went the appetizer route, and saw the Whale offers spring rolls, edamame, all sorts of dumplings, a seaweed salad, and other treats. We went with three appetizers -steamed shrimp shumai ($6.99), steamed pork gyoza ($7.99), and pork soup dumplings ($7.99). Each order included six pieces. Everything was made fresh (the menu board even tells you how long each dish will take to prepare). When our food was ready, we picked up a tray at the ordering counter with three steamer baskets and a few small containers of dipping sauce. The food was fantastic. The shumai were my favorite, so delicious and delicate. Soup dumplings are always a challenge to eat, and we lost two of their precious cargos trying to separate them from the steamer's paper liner and from each other. But they were great and had a golf ball sized portion of meat inside. They were sure worth the 18 minutes of prep time. The restaurant is quite gorgeous, with white walls, a two color striped plank floor, and interesting booths and sofa tables. Hats off to their design team. Service was great, there was a friendly young guy behind the counter who answered our questions and contributed to our overall excellent experience. We could not have been more impressed with our first of many more expected visits to Whale Tea and Ramen.
Had a great time at the Whale Tea in Avon, Connecticut! First off, the service was great and I was immediately greeted upon entering. The woman working the front had some great suggestions for me because there was so many choices, I was so indecisive. I got the passionfruit slush which was so refreshing as well as the crème brûlée Oreo milk tea, which I cannot recommend enough. It was so delicious and paired great with the hazelnut mocha cake that I had for dessert! For the appetizer I got the pork soup dumplings which were hands down my favorite. The pork was flavorful and the soup was nice and warm. For the entree I got their Mega Ramen which includes shrimp and pork chashu, bamboo shoot, wakame (seaweed), half marinated egg, nori, corn, scallion and fish cake. Unfortunately, it was not my favorite, the flavor of the seaweed overpowered everything else.
Just look at the choices! I think they're above and beyond. Once I took that first bite or that first sip, I already couldn't wait to take my second. They've only been around for 2 months. It's so spacious inside and it looks so CLEAN and BEAUTIFUL!! I had a few teas I just couldn't help myself. The first one I had was the coconut milk with jelly. Needs no other additions. It was perfect as is but you're welcome to add more toppings if you wish though. My second was the brûlée taro and that had a nice cream to it. The third I took to go which was the peach fruit tea. Best not overpack it with jelly. I needed a spoon it get it out. You can order front the counter or through the kiosk. They make it so easy. The staff was very courteous and accommodating too. For the food... YES! YES! YES! I loved everything! The takoyaki was the best I've had yet with those fish flakes. Yum!! There was ramen all around from kimchi, vegetable and seafood. It was all so good! Got to even try to soup dumplings. They didn't disappoint!
I've had a lot of boba tea in my life, but this absolutly took the cake; this crème brûlée tea was a creamy, delicious, innovative treat-- truly more like a dessert than a beverage. The drink came with a cold foam-style cream too and the signature burnt sugar crumble -- still dreaming about it! It completely made my day, it was honestly that good! Cant recommend enough!
This is an update and averaged score from previous experience as well. The service is still excellent. This time I returned to try their bubble tea and was unfortunately very disappointed. If only rating the bubble tea itself, it would get a 1. the signature milk tea tasted like...nothing. The tapioca pearls were very mushy. I could not make myself finish it. I'll likely still come back for their food, but not for the drinks.
The Whale Tea is SPACIOUS! You got the smell of ramen as soon as you walked in. It's a beautiful space with lots of seating and friendly service. As someone treating gestational diabetes with diet, the fruit teas were the selection for me. I got the large pomelo lemon fruit tea with oolong tea unsweetened. It was refreshing and perfect for the diet I'm following to help me keep my blood sugar low. Can't wait to go back and try some others after the baby is born!
Very good food, peaceful place to eat. Very quiet. I really enjoyed the shrimp dumplings, the flavor was very mild and the dumplings were melt in your mouth soft. The pork in the ramen was perfect. The restaurant is reasonably priced and has a nice ambience.
Came here for the first time and it did not disappoint! I like the vibe on the inside they have a nice little lounge area where you can play games and hang out with friends or have a cute date. I tried the passionfruit tea which had fresh watermelon and lime. It was delicious! For an appetizer we tried the pork soup dumplings nice and juicy. For my main course I had the Sapporo miso ramen, the spice was definitely manageable because I don't tend to eat spicy food. But it was delicious, I think the broth had a good amount of flavor and they gave a good amount of ingredients. Lastly for dessert I tried the mango crepe cake, I appreciate that it was not overly sweet and it was nice and light. I would definitely come back and recommend checking them out! Staff was great and helpful.
If you've never been to The Whale Tea Ramen in Avon, you need to go ASAP! I've been twice now, and each time I've had an excellent experience. While there are several Whale Tea locations throughout CT, from looking online, the Avon location seems to be only one of the two that have a full food menu (with the other being Norwalk). This location is in a shopping plaza next to Whole Foods. Parking is available in the rear of the building. The inside is spacious and clean with a lot of seating, including couches, which were cool. You have the option of ordering from a self-serve kiosk, or at the counter. I chose to order at the counter, but I played around with the kiosk a little and found it easy to use, and you can even customize your order down to how much ice you want in your drink, how sweet you want it, etc. This past time I ordered a few different drinks and food items to try. I started with the Golden Buns and Korean Corn Dog for appetizers. The Golden Buns consisted of six small rolls warmed up with a cup of a sweet, icing-type dipping sauce. They were so delicious! The Korean Corn Dog looked similar to a traditional American corn dog, but tasted so much better! Rather than a hotdog, the Korean Corn Dog has fish sausage on a stick, covered with a crispy corn batter. You can also choose to add mozzarella cheese or potato to the inside of the corn dog. I opted for the mozzarella cheese. They also drizzled ketchup and mustard on the outside. This was literally the best corn dog I've ever had! The taste was remarkably better than any American corn dog I've had in the past, including the Big E. I would highly recommend trying it! For my main meal, I ordered the Beef Ramen, which included beef, bamboo shoot, wakame (seaweed), marinated egg, nori, corn, scallion, and fish cake, in addition to the noodles. Simply amazing! Now on to the drinks- I ordered the Creme Brûlée Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Tapioca, the Blue Crystal with Coconut Milk and Jelly, and the Matcha Fresh Milk Tea. All were AMAZING! My favorite was the Creme Brûlée Brown Sugar Milk Tea. It just tasted so good! And adding the Tapioca is a must. The only thing I didn't care too much for was the jelly that was added to the bottom of the Blue Crystal- it just had a weird texture to it that I didn't like. If I was to order that drink again I would just get it without the jelly, because otherwise it was really good! The staff were friendly and my food and drinks came out quickly. Overall a fantastic spot for teas, ramen, and other delicious food. I will definitely be back!
I've been to many of The Whale Tea locations in CT, but visiting this one was exciting because it's the first location to have food! As always, the teas were excellent, though I didn't realize I had to specify that I wanted boba in a few of them as the only one that came with them was the brown sugar milk tea. In terms of the food, everything was great! Really good soup dumplings, and we had no complaints about the ramen. We thought the broths were tasty and there were plenty of noodles. The popcorn chicken was a bit dry but still okay. I would come back when I'm craving ramen and boba at the same time! This location is really nice and clean, and the girls behind the counter were friendly.

With the cool New England fall weather upon us, we wanted a nice bowl of ramen to warm us up. We went to visit Whale Tea on Halloween. After seeing the menu, I decided to try their chicken katsu instead while my fiancé tried the beef ramen. We also got two medium bubble teas. Both drinks came out first. For mediums, they were pretty small (especially with a $7 price tag). I will say though, my creme brûlée oreo tea was incredible. I absolutely loved the flavor and the oreo in it. Still pricey but at least it was good. My fiancé ramen came out shortly after and we weren't too impressed. The beef broth was a muted color which looked more like miso. He said the noodles were sticky and pretty soft. I waited about 15 minutes until my chicken katsu came out (we were the only ones in there so it wasn't busy) and it looked promising... Good crunch but seems like chicken thighs were used as there was a good amount of fat in it. It quickly became kinda inedible because of how much sauce was covering the whole dish. I'm a sauce girly and love my condiments, but this was just so excessive. I asked for a box to go and maybe my fiancé will finish it later lol. The girl was so sweet and even offered MORE sauce to go, but i quickly declined. Overall, may be back for the teas if it's payday. Would not try the food again. read more
This place took 40-45 min for me and it was not worth it! I would rather drive to New Haven for fresh soup dumplings. My cousin wanted to go bc she was craving the popcorn chicken. Nothing special about this place an even the fruit tea was not good. I had dinner from here on a Friday evening. The place was not busy. It was spacious and modern looking restaurant. The location looks posh. Bubble teas were the best thing to have from here. The tapioca bubbles were soft. Creme brulee brown sugar milk tea with bubbles was the best. I also tried a rose milk bubble tea, which was good as well. I would say food was ok. Crab soup dumplings was good, but didn't have crab flavor. I had a beef ramen with beef broth, which was ok. Golden bun was a think bread fried in oil served with condensed milk. Great new bubble tea and ramen shop in Avon! So many different flavors combinations and drinks to try! My favorite was the brown sugar - beautiful presentation as well! I usually love a Taro bubble tea but this one wasn't my favorite. The hubs was obsessed with his crystal whale which was absolutely gorgeous as well. Can't wait to try the food next visit! read more

The Whale Tea in Avon is delightful! Everything feels brand new and the kiosks to order were so cool. I loved their decor and seating sections. All of their booths were super cute, clean, and inviting. I got a large Creme Brulee Oreo Milk Boba Tea, which was delicious! It combines two of my favorite things, so I loved it immediately. I really loved the Oreo crumble at the bottom, the perfect compliment to the Brown Sugar Boba. The portion size was very generous and I really liked their durable plastic cups. Their Avon location is close to my house, so this was a dangerous new discovery. read more
When we walked into this whale tea location it is WOW. The store is huge and has so much seating area for a larger group wanting to talk and gather. I tried the crystal boba tea. It was blue and taste so good it's made with coconut milk and peach jelly. It wasn't to sweet and loved it. The service was also quick and good. I got a chance from Yelp to try their drinks and I will definitely be back. I've been to whale tea in the past but this location is great read more
Nice bright location near a charging station... Wait, nope, the charging station is gone! Across the way from Wholefoods, so great location. Got the mega Ramen and a Peach Tea. The tea was nice, sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The ramen was just what the Dr ordered on a rainy, still Smokey, day. I want to come try some other items. I'll keep you posted. read more

I've been to Taiwan twice which if you don't know is where boba was invented, needless to say I've had good boba and most places in the US just don't do it justice the pearls are not cooked all the way through the milk tea is over-steeped, this place however has some of the best and most authentic boba that I've had in CT so far. It's nice and spacious building with lots of places to sit and the tables are a good size if you were looking for a place to study. The customer service honestly could be better and I say that as someone who works in the service industry myself but it's not horrible. read more
The Whale Tea is LEGIT!! Growing up, my parents often took me to Flushing, NY after church on Sundays. My best friend lives there so it was two special treats: to see her and also to get my favorite drink, bubble tea!! At that time, it really wasn't popular outside of Flushing. So imagine my delight to learn that there is now a bubble tea place right here in my very own town next to whole foods. I told my BFF about it and she said they actually have a whale tea in Flushing too! Today I tried the signature milk tea which is made with black tea. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to bubble tea- none of that fruity business for me. I watched the guy make it and it was just like they do in Flushing, shaken with ice and then put in a machine to seal with a sticker lid that you have to stab to get your straw in. The whole experience was definitely legit (minus the fact that it was sparkling clean inside-if you've ever been to flushing you probably would know what I'm talking about). The taste - the milk tea was on point! The real deal. Not too sweet, creamy, and just enough of the yummy tea flavor. The bubbles (which are tapioca pearls) were smaller than I remembered from my childhood. I mentioned that to my BFF and she said that small bubbles are trendy right now everywhere. I haven't had one in years so I didn't know. Anyway, it brought back so many sweet childhood memories with my bestie. The drink set me back $5.50. Came here for lunch to have some ramen. The service was friendly and restaurant is bright and super clean- all positives. The bubble teas we had were delicious! The ramen was average. I was a bit disappointed, would have loved if they had more flavor. The ingredients seemed fresh and proportions were good but the flavor of the broth and overall ramen dishes could've been better. The Whale Tea Ramen is in a shopping center, and the parking and entrance are in the back of the building. As you walk in, the newly updated restaurant is clean and sleek and has several different kinds of seating options to fit and accommodate any vibe. There were booths and chairs, barstools and countertops, and a chill section with couches. There were kiosks for self-serve ordering available and workers at the counter taking orders. The menu included so many different flavors of bubble teas and also some ramen and other food appetizers. I chose to stick to just a drink and picked the creme brulee brown sugar milk tea. They made fresh, warm tapioca pearls, and they were delicious. She also used a torch to glaze at the top of my boba drink, and it was fun to watch. The place was nice and quiet. I was able to relax and enjoy my tea on the comfy couches. Next time, I'll be back to try some yummy looking food options. read more
