Not what was expected, but not bad Missus is on a dumpling kick, so we looked for some of the best dumplings we could find locally. Found this well reviewed shop close by, so we dropped in. The inside is very sparse, lots of stuff strewn around. It was lacking a lot of polish, but it didn't seem too sketchy. We ordered from the nice lady an order of dumplings, pirogies, and a couple of bao buns. Price was good, and food took about 15 minutes to cook but we did some trekking locally to waste time, We got our food, took some pics and dug in. The pirogies were for me, and I must say that they were not pirogies. It was mashed potatoes with cheese in a dumpling wrapper. The dumpling wrappers were fresh, but the dough was not what I expected. The potato and cheese was pretty good though. Didn't use a farmers cheese but did some type of white cheese. The bao were generic. They used the same filling as the dumplings as the bao filling. It really needed a sauce inside to help differentiate it from the dumplings. We also got a black sesame bao, but the inside was very watery and not appetizing at all. So we threw that one away. The owner is a very nice lady, and she's working hard to keep her place busy. It's clear that the stresses of the day keep her strained, but she does mean well enough. For those in the area, it's not a drive to destination. It's pretty good dumplings in a run down shop with an owner fighting to stay afloat. I would recommend going here if you want to support local, and don't mind a bit of grit. This little spot is a hidden gem tucked away in the corner of the plaza. A Boba go to for sure! Inside has a cute wall set up for some nice pics too! Today I ordered a large brown sugar milkshake with tapioca pearls! The tapioca pearls were made fresh and were warm and chewy! The mixture was a perfect blend! I'm going to break this down and will update in the future if needed. The drinks are surely a 4-5. We typically get the mango smoothie with boba (tapioca balls). The milk teas always look good, but I like the thicker consistency. Looking forward to trying the avocado milkshake at some point. Tried the chicken steamed dumplings. They were good. Would be 100x better if they offered them fried. The hot sauce was odd - sort of just hot oil. Will try the regular sauce with the pork dumplings (which were sold out when we were there last) in the future. The service is a 2. SO SLOW. Typically 1-2 people in there moving at a molasses pace. Ordered 2 drinks last time I was there. 2 people in front of me. Waited 25 min. They clearly have a following - need at least 2-3 people in there. Maybe this will get better if we ever get past the covid-19 pandemic. The shop itself looks so dingy with the way they have it set up through covid. May be cute pre/post covid. They have the plastic dividers held up with old jugs from their products filled with water. The first time I visited - I didn't figure that out - just thought the place was an absolute mess. First bubble tea shop that I've spotted in Plainville. Located next to the Dairy Queen, you'll be scratching your head wondering what you should get on a hot summer day. Bubble tea is always a nice choice; easy for a quick grab and go drink. Walking in, it looked like it was a deli that was converted to a bubble tea shop. There were simple designs and sayings for the shop lightening up the mood. Along the wall lined with tables to sit; there are strings of flowers that decorate the white wall. They aim to help you out if you are a first time bubble tea drinker, offering a guide to ordering. You'll pick your flavors, sugar/ice level and any additions to your drink. I ordered a Large Iced Taro Bubble Tea with grass jelly and bubbles, while my sister ordered a Large Iced Matcha Bubble Tea with bubbles. Both with 75% sugar. Watching as the drinks were made, you will see the drinks will be made with powder; while isn't bad, could have you wanting more. My sister remarked that the tapioca bubbles weren't that good, didn't have a flavor and were a little hard. She regrets getting them and not getting the heart shaped jellies. I had to agree with her but the grass jelly was good enough for me. It looks like it's still getting itself established and will be adding more items like dumplings and other stuff. Never been here before but I was in the area and looking for boba tea so decided to stop by. I ordered taro coconut milk tea with boba and their homemade pork buns. First I'll say when I walked in, there was another customer waiting for their tea to be made. There was only 1 person working and it took a bit for her to fully finish the customer's order and then take my order. So the service was slow but understandable. Now the tea. I immediately knew the taro was artificial as most powders used for it are purple. Fresh taro tea is an off white color, not purple. My first couple sips I thought was good, until I could taste a horrible artificial aftertaste. I want to say it was the boba that had this terrible taste. Once you've had bubble tea made fresh with freshly cooked tapioca as well, the artificial crap will not compare. I could not finish the drink. However, the buns were phenomenal!! I have never had such amazing tasting buns, wish I ordered more! I would come back for the food but not the teas unless they decide to make it fresh. read more

Waited in line behind 2 girls who said they were regular customers. They said their "go-to" is the matcha tea ice blended. So, of course, I copied them and also got matcha tea ice blended. :-) Now, I LOVE matcha and I'm pretty particular about it. I make my own matcha lattes at home with pure ceremonial grade Japanese matcha. Everywhere I go, if matcha is on the menu, I order it. This matcha here tasted artificial to me like a premade matcha latte mix I have tried in the past. I know some people prefer that because a lot of people find pure matcha to be bitter, but it is just not for me. I also tried their taro bubble tea, which I found to be too sweet, even though I asked for it to be less sweet. The bubbles were made fresh when I got there and the owner seemed sweet. Given the lack of options for bubble tea in the area, it's not a bad fix, but I would not go out of my way for the bubble tea. I would give the fresh tea/juices a try next time though. :) read more

Now most people come here for for the amazing teas bubble and non bubble alike, they also do smoothies and various other concoctions. Their fruit smoothies are solid, but my co worker swears by the green tea mango and lychee tea. But what I am also here to discuss is that they make bao buns sweet and meat and their dumplings are just perfectly delicious and the kicker.... the spicy wild sauce with the dumplings my goodness the food is just down right awesome!!!! My favorites so far are the Coconut, Thai, and Honeydew Milk Tea! One time I wasn't sure what to get and the woman recommended a flavor combo - Taro with Black Sesame. Omg it was AMAZING! I was very excited to find there was a bubble tea place in the area. Back in Buffalo, I get bubble tea from Pulp 716, about 4 times/week, so I was excited to find something in CT. When I went in, the woman behind the counter was very friendly and she explained the flavors and sweetness and asked what I like. I ended up getting a strawberry fruit tea with blueberry exploding boba-yummmmy! It was very tasty and she even asked how sweet I wanted it. I got little sweet, and it was still very sweet but tasty. My go to place for bubble tea. I live in Waterbury and whenever possible, I make the 20 min drive to Southington just to get a coconut milk tea with tapioca pearls. They have many flavors ranging from chocolate to taro to rose and different types of drinks such as smoothies and teas. I will say if your favorite topping is the tapioca pearl, maybe call ahead to see if they're in stock or arrive a bit early since sometimes they're just making a fresh batch or have completely ran out for the day. read more

This place is AMAZING. I had been here a handful of times for bubble tea which is always delicious. So many flavors to choose from and you can pick how sweet you want it. A lot of progress have commented that they run out of boba a lot but that has never happened when I've been there. My go to is the honeydew milk tea with boba and kiwi poppers. I'd also recommend asking for a little extra ice if you like it really cold. The last time I went there I was really hungry so I decided to try their pierogi. I really really wanted to like this Tea place that offers Polish dumplings but had such a hard time. When I walked in I couldn't help but wonder how clean everything was. The wall was decorated with hand-colored letters. They advertised dumplings but they're all frozen. Yes I know must fast food places simply cook or reheat frozen meals for you. Mei Tea uses the Pierogi Queen brand which is a local brand based in Enfield, CT. A package of frozen pierogi is approximately $7, there are 12 in each package. Mei Tea cook six pierogis for you for $7. Cook as in steam or fry. I would not mind the markup if the Mei Tea added something special to the pierogis. Personally for me I can't justify paying someone $7 to steam pierogis for me. On a side note the owner is very nice but I don't know if I would be back for the dumplings. Drove 25 mins (20 mi) only to find out they ran out of boba! By some of the reviews I've read, this doesn't seem to be a rare occurrence. We arrived at 7pm and they close at 8pm, so I understand BUT I was disappointed nonetheless. I didn't get I what I came for. I was impressed by how delicious the traditional Taiwanese milk tea flavor was. I got it at 75% sweetness, perfect for me. I sampled the lychee jelly "topping" and that was very good, but I couldn't bring myself to add that to my milk tea. It went well with my wife's white peach tea. This shop is wonderful! There are so many choices of tea, and small plate type snacks. The woman running the tea shop is sweet and always willing to offer a recommendation. They share space with a polish deli that has wonderful grab and go lunches. There are a few tables if you want to sit and eat, however. Definitely worth checking out!
