Super cute decor, very friendly and hospitable staff and family. Lots of indoor seating, clean. We ordered the curry chicken katsu ramen and the spicy miso ramen (I asked for extra spice but in truth the original spiciness was probably enough). Overall, satisfying and good portion, with thin-style ramen noodles. Curry broth a little thin, and only included bean sprouts and mushrooms (would add other toppings next time). Spicy miso ramen a bit salty but I liked the chashu firmness and the bamboo shoots and mushrooms.

Oh-my-God this place has the best spicy miso I have EVER had. It's just the right spicy and no after taste and the noodles were cooked to perfection. This place is small and not super upscale looking like mecha which is what I really enjoy as it's more welcoming for a quick lunch or dinner on your own or with friends. Very relaxing vibe to it and the decor is so freakin cute! Just take a look at the kitty stickers in the pictures and the quirky signs. My server was very nice; quiet but attentive and made sure each table was accommodated accordingly. Also the music is edm playing which makes the place a bit more unique. I can't wait to return during the fall semester at CCSU. Take note they do take Blue Chip cards from CCSU. Cash will be cheaper then using CC as there will be no processing fee. I didn't have enough cash when I went but next time!

    "Mini" Chicken Katsu Curry

My friend and area Yelper Alicia N told me that So.Ramen had opened near CCSU in the plaza with MoFongo Express. They offer over over 20 menu items of ramen including Katsu, Oxtail, seafood, Kim Chee and Shabu Shabu Beef. They offer base ramen options such as Miso, Shoyu, Shio and Curry. In addition, they have apps such as Shumai, Gyoza, Chicken Katsu and Pork Buns. In addition, they have "Plate Meals" such as various Fried Rice dishes, Chicken Katsu Curry Rice and Udon. I was expecting more of a takeout vibe, but there are about 10 dark wooden tables which each have 4 chairs. While the atmosphere is not necessarily a selling point, it's nicer than many takeout places with seating areas. One unique feature of the menu is the option to order Mini Combos. This allowed me to explore the menu a bit for $15.95. I ordered the mini combo with (1) a small version of Spicy Miso Charsiu (pork) Ramen, and (2) a small Japanese Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. I ate at So.Ramen and service was friendly. For a "mini" combo, there was a lot of food. Chicken Katsu is essentially a thin, breaded chicken cutlet. It's on the menu in many area places, but I don't usually notice the curry version of this dish in CT. If you were to walk in certain Manhattan neighborhoods, you would notice places specializing in Katsu Curry. I thought the Brown curry sauce was very good. The chicken and white sticky rice both had good texture. I will probably return for this dish with some Katsu fans in my household. The ramen was pretty good. I generally only eat ramen at some of the best spots in CT. I can't say this ramen compared to those places. The broth seemed a bit less nuanced. The roast pork fell apart when I tried to pick it up, whereas some of the higher end area places offer firmer pork belly (Chashu) that seems higher quality. The noodles seemed less firm than some other area noodles. Some of the other ingredients didn't stand out compared to other places. However, I'm not sure that So.Ramen is trying to compete with those higher end spots. You can get full size ramens at So.Ramen for as low as $11.95. The most expensive ramens are $15.95 to $16.95. I think So.Ramen is trying to fill a need for convenience and slightly lower priced options. It did a pretty good job of filling that need. I would definitely recommend trying So.Ramen if you live nearby. 4 Stars

My son and I was looking for a place to eat that possibly had ramen on the Berlin Turnpike, where a few spots opened up near the car dealerships. The first one that caught my eye was So Ramen, because of an item they sold as an appetizer. If you're from Hawaii, you will automatically know what Mochiko Chicken is. It did not disappoint! It was tender and very flavorful! The ramen broth was amazing as well! Ever since our favorite place closed down a few years ago, we've been looking for a new spot, and I am glad we found this place! Needless to say, it is not on the turnpike, but rather near the college on East Street. Very clean interior, and our waitress was very nice. They are closed on Mondays (when we originally wanted to go), so plan accordingly. It's safe to say we've found out new ramen spot!

    Oxtail Ramen( GF version)

So Ramen is so close to home I just had to Pick the perfect day to go and dine in. Setting inside is very simple but clean . Had about 8 tables and all of them Seat 4 people. When we arrived I thought I'd put my order in and then stay to sit and eat but we got seated, greeted and our orders were taken. So it was nice. No one was dining in but many people were picking up to go Orders. It took about 10-15 minutes for our dishes to Come out. So Super Bowl Sunday, , called for Ramen. My dad had the Gomoku Ramen which was more colorful and had porkbelly, veggies, seaweed, egg, fish cakes , corn and bamboo shoots. My dad enjoyed his bowl of ramen and had very good flavor. For myself I chose the oxtail Ramen. Had about 3 pieces of oxtail and to Make it GF, rice noodles were used and a different kind of sauce since they do not have GF soy sauce. I was surprised at how good it tasted. Came out nice and hot and a good size bowl. I just wish it had something else in there besides oxtail, mushrooms, onions and scallions. The egg! I always look forward to the egg in Ramen! Plus adds a bit of color! So-Ramen is good to have nearby, i would go again and try something different. There menu has quite a few things such as apps, basic ramen, spicy ramen and Specialty Ramen. They also have mini combos and Plates that are not ramen. I'm glad I finally got to check It out and try!

We got ramen for delivery and everything was packaged well and nothing spilled! The broth was in different containers to help prevent the noodles from getting too soggy. The broth had a decent amount of flavor and I appreciated that they actually had fish cakeks (not a lot of places around here include those). For a quick and cheaper option, this is well worth it

Not a bad place. Quaint and right off the CCSU campus. We wanted to try a new ramen place. My only gripes is that when I get a bowl of ramen I want it to see the steam coming off it as I being to eat it. The bao and gyoza were terrific but the ramen was warm and tasty but I like it hot and steamy. I'd go back but I would request it to come out steaming hot. The girl working the front was quite nice.

Ramen are delicious! Did not like the chicken katsu curry rice though. Service was quick! Reasonable price. Place is very clean. We will be back!

Tasty, and reasonably priced. Tried the house special "So Ramen". Good serving size, tasty, but the broth was just a little greasy.

The energy is lively without being overwhelming, making it a fun place to hang out or grab a quick bite. The food is the real star here. The ramen is rich and satisfying, and the add-ons are especially flavorful--they genuinely elevate the bowl rather than feeling like an afterthought. Everything comes out fresh and well put together. Service is another strong point. The servers are attentive, friendly, and impressively fast, so you're never left waiting too long even when it's busy. The service was good too. We got lunch there and really enjoyed our meals and drinks. I had a cocktail that came in a fish glass but forgot the name; it was good but definitely not strong. For my meal, I had the ramen dish called Shoyu Paitan which has chicken, black garlic, nori, scallion, tamago, menma. I added the corn & chili oil. This was so good. My family also enjoyed their meals.

Good food, reasonable prices for the area, dark…read more Came here cause the missus was craving dumpling and we've only dabbled in the restaurants in WeHa. Outside was unassuming. Sidewalks were torn up but the place is hard to find with lack of signage. We were able to get seated right away, and looked through their digital menu. We got a smattering of dishes, wontons and dumplings, a sandwich and a ramen. Food came out in a reasonable wait time. We took pics and dug in. The 7 flavor dumpling was the star of the show. Light and thin dumpling wrapper, savory sweet sauce, plenty of filling. The pork dumplings were good, but the wrapper was thicker and denser. The twice cooked pork sandwich was pretty tasty, the pork needed to be more present compared to the veggies, but appreciated the crisp of the bread. The ramen had a good amount of braised beef and noodles. The broth needed a little doctoring to coax out some of the more savory notes. Broth needed more aggressive seasoning though. The price was not too bad for the area. It's kind of like dim sum, where you get a small plate for the price but it's all shareable and the flavors are good. It's not very well lit, gave the place a very dark air about it. But as a restaurant, it's pretty good. There's a lot of great places in that area, and this one's a good option if you're looking for small plates.
