Unfortunately, I had a bad ordering experience here. I ordered three chicken tempura rolls and an AAC roll. I noticed the bag was kind of small and light. My fault for not checking before we left. They shorted us one tempura roll. And one person is now without a meal. I called Yummy when we got home. The woman that answered was adamant that three chicken tempura rolls were in the bag, but they said they added one roll to another container. That was not the case or we wouldn't have called them. We order sushi frequently and we understand how sometimes they package multiple rolls together. The hard part is they made no effort to correct the situation. 11.7.22 This is a pick up & take out only restaurant. I wish I could describe the food the same as the name of the restaurant but I wasn't able to. It wasn't yummy. They have a cubby door made out of wood that they open to receive your payment and give you your food. It was a little strange. Unfortunately I am unable to recommend this place to anyone. This is based only on their sushi. The sushi was so unappetizing I went back in and left it on the counter for them. See pic below I'm not trying to be harsh but it is some of the most bland, pasty & chalky sushi I've ever encountered. It was also drier & chalky more so than any sushi I've ever had. I've never used chalky to describe sushi ever in the past. This is a first for me. Obviously sushi isn't wet but it's moist to a point. This was chalky, pasty and slightly crunchy dry. The salad that comes with a sushi lunch special was incredible. It had some type of ginger dressing that tasted fantastic. The lettuce was so crisp & fresh also. I don't even know what else to say. Great easy parking lot. Located right next door to a starbucks. Sometimes we see the poor reviews and might think, oh this person or that person is just being ornery. Well, not always the case. We went here for lunch yesterday and it was our first time here. The place is very cute with tables and booths inside and a few places at the sushi bar. Service was quick and our waitress was friendly and offered suggestions. My husband and I had an order of steamed shumai- which was good. We got a house salad as well. The ginger dressing was flavorful, but a little oily. For rolls, I had a Philadelphia roll and coconut shrimp roll. The coconut shrimp roll was so delicious and if you like coconut I would recommend! My husband had 2 special rolls, the king salmon and the transformer roll. I only tried the transformer, which was also very tasty. Out total bill was $60, which was not too bad considering we had 3 special rolls. read more

I was absolutely appalled I watched The woman who works the front is Extremly Extremely rude & yells at people picking up She was SCREAMING at a delivery lady. I asked the delivery lady what happened. She said she was told by that rude lady to never ever come in but to wait for her order in the parking lot untill the screaming lady texted her to come in Then the delivery lady waited an Extremly long time in the parking lot. The delivery lady didn't know what to do so the delivery lady called the delivery company she works for and they called the screaming lady to find out if the order was ready. Update 5/15/18: Oh, Yummy. How you have fallen from my good graces in the same way so many other new sushi spots do. It's the same thing time and time again, they open and there is such attention to detail, such fresh ingredients, such tasty food...and then they become complacent. What was perfectly fried veggie gyoza with plenty of flavorful dipping sauce has become underwhelming and undercooked. What was delicious avocado salad with fresh greens and ginger dressing has become a bowl full of the bitter inedible lettuce base trimmings in massive chunks. What was a perfectly prepared clear soup with crispy fried onions has become a bowl of murky spongy fried onion bleh. Thankfully the quality of ingredients for their sushi had not yet fallen as well, however they were so poorly rolled they they broke open and everything spilled out as soon as you touched them with chop sticks so we had to resort to eating them with our hands. Ive eaten here before and when I ate inside when they first opened the food was delicious. Since then it's been just ok. But tonight... I think I'm traumatized. I ordered spicy tuna rolls and got home and opened the tray. Before I started eating, I went to open my daughters Japanese soda and suddenly caught a whiff of what I honestly thought was dog poop. I literally started looking around and said "One of the dogs must have gotten sick somewhere." But nope, as I moved closer to my tray I realized it was the sushi! The tuna was so rotten -- I cannot describe the smell. It was a mix of rotten fish and a dog with a sick stomach. I had to wrap it in three bags and throw it out. The room smelled for about 20 minutes after. I cannot imagine how anyone working there could have put that in a tray and served it. Fresh fish should NEVER smell. I am repulsed. Just opened- next to Starbucks in the Big Y Plaza. Great sushi! Very clean and attractive inside. Nice intimate setting. Had Gyoza appetizer and variety of rolls. We stopped in for quick lunch before early PM movie. My son is a sushi lover and was impressed by his dragon and shrimp tempura rolls. They also have Japanese sodas - a huge plus. I had a shrimp noodle dish that featured super fresh veggies and slightly over cooked udon noodles. I enjoyed my dish too. The server was good too. This place is the former Luna Pizza which was a great pizza place and now it is a great sushi place. The overall look of the restaurant is very nice with adequate, comfortable seating. Very clean and homey. The waitstaff are very friendly and accommodating and happy to give helpful suggestions. The food is beyond reproach. Great assortment of Chef's specialty rolls as well as basic rolls. I had the Snow White roll and the spicy crab roll which were both fantastic. Super fresh and you can taste every ingredient. The beef ramen is spectacular. Super thin and super tender cuts of beef swimming in a bowl of amazingly flavored broth with plenty of ramen noodles and assorted vegetables. Probably some of the best I've ever had. The one criticism I had was with the rock shrimp appetizer. While they were expertly cooked, drizzled with a creamy and spicy sauce, the shrimp themselves were pretty small as compared to a few of my favorite sushi places. All in all it was a spectacular meal and looking forward to returning soon. read more

I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed Yummy sushi. The staff were so pleasant and friendly, unlike most other sushi places. The inside was small but was very lovely. And so very clean. Even the music was good. I was totally pleased with the 3 sushi rolls I ordered as was my friend with her 3 rolls. It was made perfectly & seemed nice and fresh. The plus for me was they actually had a lunch special on a weekend! Only on Saturday, but still... that's rare for sushi joints. Oh, Yummy. As Valerie said, you're breaking my heart, too. Since writing my original 5 star review, I've been back 5 times and it's been reduced to just average for the area. Around the same quality as the local all you can eat buffet except more expensive. The sushi quality had gone way down. Even the miso soup started tasting like dirty sock water, the wasabi paste ruined the chemically treated scallops, was neon green and gooey, the not free hot green tea tasted microwaved in the miso dirty sock water, and the specials, like toro/fatty tuna were poor quality. There was a huge difference in consistency after the first 2 months of opening. And that makes me sad, I really had high hopes for this place and easily spent $150/dinner for 2, 3x a week when they first opened but now I go back to my fav place in Southington for my super fresh sushi. I pay for quality especially when it comes to sushi. So yesterday, I ordered fried foods figuring it would be a safer bet. The crab was good, not great. Lots of veg for an appetizer: eggplant, sweet potato, zucchini, and that dang asparagus. Chef seemed sleepy, I was literally the only customer there during dinner rush. The asparagus was rock hard, couldn't bite through it and not properly prepared. I really like my server, Tina, who I had not seen in months and I assumed she left. I had other servers who were just plain awful, awkward, didn't know the menu, or made us feel rushed. Another minor detail is that (with exception to Tina) without fail, I always have to ask for wine glasses. Especially from the owner and manager! He always asks, "Do you need glasses?" And I want to reply, "No, just put a nipple on it and I'm good to go!" Anyway, I don't blame the poor overall service on the wait staff. They have poor examples to follow and inadequate training. But the sushi, man. They lowered their own standards, cut costs, and hired inexperienced people. Doubt I'll be back. Tina, hit me up. Yummy Sushi is very good. I got spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail rolls today. They don't use the spicy sauce that most places do rather put spicy seasoning on which saves some calories for us that count calories. Price is comparable to area sushi places.
