This Morimoto spot in the Great Cedar concourse at Foxwoods has a nice casual vibe with solid service. I have been to the NYC location and was so happy to see one here. The staff was excellent and kept my water topped off like a true Hydro Homie. I went on a quiet weekday, so I cannot speak much on the atmosphere. The only awkward part was the hostess giving me a little attitude when I asked to sit near the TV for the World Cup. I was just trying to enjoy ramen and soccer, not ruin her day. Overall, good food and great table service. Prices are to be expected. Plenty of parking as it is in a casino. I came to Momosan after a comedy show and got there about an hour before closing. I sat at the bar and was served right away. The bartender was very kind, welcoming, and entertaining, which made for a great experience. I ordered the chicken katsu curry ramen, the shrimp appetizer, and the yuzu mocktail. The ramen had a flavor profile that was different from what I'm used to, but in a good way. I also really liked the noodles, they had a nice chewy, bouncy texture that held up well in the broth. The only part I wasn't a fan of was the cheese. I'd never had ramen with cheese before, and it just wasn't for me. The broth was good, although I was expecting a little more umami and depth of flavor. My favorite dish was actually the shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were fried perfectly, and the gochujang glaze was delicious. I probably would've liked it even more if it had a bit more spice. The yuzu mocktail was refreshing with a nice balance of tart and sweet. I also really liked the vibe and aesthetic of the restaurant. Don't get me wrong, service was phenomenal and presentation was great. But the cuisine was less than meh. Tried the tantan but was heavily disappointed. The ground pork was awfully sweet to the point I had to spit it back out. The Tonkatsu pork was tender, but too tender. I couldn't grab it with my chopsticks without it breaking on me. The noodles had a nice texture. The broth was okay. Probably the only thing that ticked me off was the one worker who had to yell "hey!" to the cooks in the back. I'm not sure if he was an audio replacement for a bell or what, but like every time he yelled, I would jump. Like it's not comfortable for me to eat and hear someone yell with a tone that sounds like a fight is about to start. Also, compared to the local ramen shops and franchises in my area, their ramen is $2 more than my local area and tastes worse. Being a more casual concept from Morimoto, my boyfriend and I had very high hopes. We were seated immediately, and the service throughout the meal was quick and friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes: shrimp sushi, surf & turf sushi, karaage, soft-shell crab rolls, kakuni bap, and tofu bap. Unfortunately, most of the food was underwhelming. The presentation was beautiful and looked much better than it tasted. The biggest disappointment was the surf & turf sushi. The A-5 Wagyu was seared tableside with a blowtorch, which was fun presentation, but the beef was surprisingly chewy instead of being melt-in-your-mouth and the shrimp inside the roll was very dry. The soft-shell crab rolls and shrimp sushi tasted fresh and were light. The karaage was very tender inside and had a light crispy breading to the outer - glad it was not greasy. The sweet garlic soy for the chicken was really flavorful, but unfortunately was not coating the chicken. It pooled to the bottom of the plate. Both the kakuni bap and the tofu bap had really flavorful sauces, but they poured the entire sweet sesame soy sauce over the rice while searing it tableside. The result was rice that became so soggy it almost felt like eating soup. I think both dishes would have been much better if the rice had stayed a little drier. Looking back, I think our mistake may have been not ordering the ramen, since that's what so many of the reviews rave about. For the price of the dishes, I was expecting a lot more. Overall, we left feeling very disappointed. The service was good, but the food just didn't live up to the hype. I'd be willing to come back one day to give the ramen a try. We tried Momosan right after it opened for dinner & loved it so much that we went back the next day for lunch. Last week, we were back at Foxwoods & absolutely had to go back for another meal! We kicked things off with a couple of Asian beers to brace for the spice, then ordered the hot oil fish carpaccio appetizer: delicately seared halibut with yuzu soy, ginger, garlic & micro cilantro. It was bright, flavorful & a perfect start - we should have ordered two because it was so delicious! For the mains, we did not even bother branching out because the ramen bowls were that memorable. Hubby went with the spicy tonkotsu: pork broth, kakuni, mushroom, menma & ajitama with an extra ball of hot to add to his broth. I ordered spicy dan-dan: brothless, spicy szechuan sesame chili sauce, miso ground pork, kale namul & ajitama. This was quite a delight! Everything was cooked perfectly and the portions were HUGE. We thoroughly enjoyed how good everything was! Located right near the Great Cedar Hotel, it's something pretty new for Foxwoods. I love that they add new places all the time, this was a great addition (or maybe I just love ramen and sushi too much!). The spicy wontons look intimidating, but the spice was actually quite mild! I might have preferred it to be a bit spicier, but the taste was still delectable. The pork belly baos were SO incredibly soft, it melted in my mouth almost immediately. This is a must if you do go! The tantan ramen was pretty thick if you like a thicker broth, but was flavored well and they don't skimp out on the items. Momosan was very good! I went here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night for late night dinner after bingo. I got a yuzu margarita and it was STRONG. I appreciated the heavy pour, but definitely only needed one. As for food, we got the sticky ribs for appetizer and they were tender and delicious. For meal, I got a roads bowl which came out hot and it was very flavorful. My boyfriend got a ramen dish and he said it was really good. Let me start by saying that our server, Carey C, was beyond fantastic. We came for a quick dinner before heading to bingo for the night. We were seated right away. We each ordered a drink and then went on to split the sticky ribs, spicy tuna rolls and bowl of Tan Tan. For the sushi, we were offered additional spicy mayo and a sweeter soy sauce to try. Yes, please. Originally we were going to get a chicken based ramen bowl, but were advised against it. Our server recommended the Tan Tan and boy was she right, it was so so delicious. She really knew what she was talking about. By the end of the meal, we were practically licking the bowl clean. For the whole meal, it was unbelievably under $100, before tip. During our last visit to Foxwoods, my husband and I had a late lunch/early dinner at Momosan. It was our first time going, and we were impressed by the variety on their menu. The roast duck appetizer was a stand out, and I appreciated that you just had to give it a quick sear on the hot stone instead of being the one to cook it all the way through. The surf and turf roll and spicy wontons were tasty too. I had the all star ramen which came with 3 different kinds of meat, and it was nice that there were several brothless options too. My husband enjoyed his spicy Dan Dan noodles, and I would be curious to try the dipping ramen next time. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. After watching Iron Chef (the original one) for so many years, I was excited to eat here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Momosan was an absolutely incredible dining experience from start to finish. Every dish that came to the table was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The duck was perfectly cooked -- tender, juicy, and full of rich flavor, especially paired with the hot stone for that interactive touch. My husband does not digest duck very well - even though he loves it!! He ate this duck with no problem!!The wings were hands down some of the best I've had, perfectly crispy with a sweet and spicy glaze that had the perfect amount of heat. The karaage was crispy, flavorful, and seasoned to perfection. I took that up to my room and ate it for breakfast the next day )just don't tell anyone). Overall this has pretty legit flavors and at reasonable prices for the casino. The wait staff is bustling as it's clearly one of the busier restaurants in the casino, but it would definitely benefit from some additional management interfacing the open kitchen with the servers. There was definitely a disconnect with meals being completed and connecting them with the servers that need to provide them to the table leading to visible backups and unattended food. I'm going to chalk it up to the challenges of starting a new restaurant, but it's definitely one of the better options at the casino at the current moment. read more

By acclaimed Iron Chef Morimoto. Took my wife for her birthday. We had an appetizer, two sushi and split a ramen dish (Tan Tan). Each and everyone was super. The gyoza were the best I've ever had. After a large lunch, my wife and I decided to try Morimoto's new Foxwoods restaurant Momosan for a somewhat light dinner. It's located on the corner opposite Cedar's Steakhouse and the Food Court. We weren't sure we'd be able to get in since it's very new, but we walked in at dinner time and there were a few spots available. Momosan specializes in ramen, sushi, stone pot rice dishes, etc. The atmosphere was cool. Service was efficient and friendly. The prices were reasonable for a casino, and I'm sure many of Morimoto's restaurants are much more expensive. The menu felt too safe for a Morimoto branded restaurant. I understand he's not there cooking and the menu needs to be executed by people who don't have his experience, but most of the sushi rolls were ones you would find on the basic part of a sushi restaurant's menu. Spicy tuna. Shrimp tempura. Salmon avocado. We ordered these, plus edamame and a popcorn shrimp app. Everything was good (nothing was great), but we've had better and/or lower priced versions of each of these things at our favorite CT spots. For example, the shrimp tempura roll, was basically an avocado and cucumber roll with small pieces of shrimp tempura and sauce on top. It seems like they probably made this choice because it's easier to make. If I were to my make some educated guesses based upon what I observed, the ramen and stone bowl rice dishes may be more of a good bet in terms of value and experience. There's also a signature duck experience. I wouldn't go in thinking that you're going to get a high end Morimoto experience. And to be fair, the restaurant isn't priced that way. I had one of the greatest meals this afternoon with some of my favorite people in the world! I love trying new restaurants with a group of people that enjoy food as much as I do. Appetizers: sticky ribs, pork gyoza, karaage & hot oil fish carpaccio. -My favorite was the hot oil fish carpaccio. The yuzu soy, paired with ginger, scallions and micro cilantro was so refreshing and lively! I could've had 10 more servings. Mains: Chef MORIMOTO signature roast duck, kakuni bap, All-Star ramen, tonkotsu ramen, spicy tonkotsu ramen, tsukemen dipping ramen. -My favorite main was the spicy tonkotsu ramen. It was perfect the way it came out; all the umami flavors you look for in a beautiful ramen with spice that was enjoyable to the palate. Unfortunately, the signature duck was my least favorite. While being interactively fun to cook at the table and build our own tacos, the duck itself could've used more flavor and crispy skin. However, when put together as a taco, it was good but would've been more authentic served with baos instead of flour tortillas. Dessert: rogue MORIMOTO chocolate cake, miso panna cotta -My favorite and probably one of the best desserts I've ever had is the miso panna cotta! The chocolate cake was delicious too but I wanted to end my beautiful meal with light, refreshing flavors with a clean mouth feel. Savanah, our server was wonderful. She was knowledgeable about the food and explained the dishes well. The general manager was cool too and I did ask if he was trained by Chef Morimoto himself and he said he was. I'm giving it three stars cause I'm right in the middle. Eating indoors at the restaurant was great service good mid week, saki and Toro was exceptionally amazing. We then got takeout a few weeks later and it was not the same experience. Of course, they gave us one cup of soy sauce for two people, forgot our waters that we paid for the plates were a mess, and portions did not seem the same. Though we did get a bottle of saki to go back to our room that was pretty cool. Otherwise I would say basic sushi rolls unless you go for the specials or the sashimi. read more

Very excited to check out Iron Chef Morimoto's newest place in G F I woods. Especially since we have been looking for a great ramen place. I don't normally go to Foxwoods as it's so big and hard for me to navigate thru which parking is closest to wherever we are going. But it was our anniversary and we wanted to check it out. Easy to find as it's located on a corner area. Greeted at the front and shown to a table in the main area. There are booths and tables and seemed to have plenty of them. The seats at the tables were surprisingly comfortable. It did take a few minutes for the server to come to our table and by then we already knew what we wanted. The all star ramen and the shrimp tempura roll. The roll came out in a reasonable amount of time. It tasted good, but it did seem like one of the other reviewers noted - the shrimp seemed to be just placed on top as an afterthought. I ate the shrimp separate as it seemed easier. The all star ramen had everything in it. That first bite of noodles and soup that I am used to tasting wasn't there. I did note that we like ramen and have tried several places. And I recently returned from a trip in Japan over the summer so I kind of was expecting that Japanese/Asian blend of soup and noodles. But did not get it. The soup on my opinion was bland and seemed a little watered down. The ramen itself was warm and not as hot, temperature wise as I was expecting. We think because of all the added items it probably cooked the dish down significantly. It was overall OK, I would give it a high 5 out of 10. Chicken seemed a little dry. I think next time we will have to try a more simple ramen to give this place another chance. We did get a little annoyed at the person clearing tables as he kept coming over and grabbing our empty plates right away, when we would have just liked to relax a few minutes after finishing. Service was prompt but impersonal. I feel like we got a little hosed as the kitchen closed 10 minutes after we got there and I think our food was rushed and not as hot as it should have been. As long time fans of Morimoto from his original Iron Chef days, we were excited to try his food. Unfortunately, we were left utterly disappointed. The restaurant felt like it was a mall food court and not becoming of an iron chef level meal. The duck tacos were decent. They were messy to eat, but the flavor was decent.The sticky ribs had a good crunch in them, but the flavor was lacking in comparison to other sticky ribs we've had at Michelin star restaurants. The karaage had an okay crunch, but also lacked flavor. We came for the signature duck and it was disappointing. The serving was probably a quarter of a duck, there was a lot of the breast that was missing. We had to sear it on the "400 degree F" stone, which clearly wasn't as it cooled off within 10 minutes of arriving on the table. The sauces helped the duck as this too lacked flavor. The most offensive of the dishes was the kakuni bop. The rice was mushy and sour, probably from too much vinegar. The pork was also boiled/braised to death as it lacked any flavor or pleasing texture. As an Asian, even I couldn't bring myself to finish this rice dish. It was that unpalatable. Lastly, we got the eel and avocado roll. This too had mushy rice and the eel was basically mush as well. There was zero texture and I was again in search of flavor. We love eel and this was truly a disappointment. Overall, it was an abysmal representation of what I imagine Morimoto's food is. This seems to be another restaurant that gain notoriety from its celebrity marketing. read more

Nothing impressive. The service was good. We tried the chilli oil wanton which was ok and the bai bun and that was good. I can't remember what kind of soup my husband had. But I had the tonkotsu and that was alright. I've had better ramen in west Hartford. I wasn't really impressed with this restaurant and the food. The flavors weren't bold and their version of spicy is not spicy. Will I go again. I don't think so. But I do suggest you give them a try and make your own judgement on the food. For appetizers; The sticky ribs were average, popcorn Shrimp were fried well but the flavor was off, pork bao were not good at all- the bao was cold and flavorless while the mustard did not compliment the pork, the duck tacos were tasty. For entrees we had the half duck which was very good, the ell avocado role was sad - the rice was over cooked, the eel was flavorless, and the avocado was not fresh. We also got an order of the pork bao fried rice, again, the rice was very overcooked, the pork belly was soggy and flavorless, while the entire dish had a very sour undertone.
