The deli line is always super long, so if you need anything, order ahead of time, or put in the order immediately in the computer when you get there if you are going to be shopping for a while, else hop in line. I've also gotten lobster steamed here, usually it is good, but once, it didn't steam all the way, so it was half raw, but obviously I didn't know till I get home, so I didn't know what to do with it - do you just stick it back in the steamer and cook it even if it's half booked?

He went to the gas station, and the middle aged woman (white and thick) working in the booth, complained the whole time because my husband paid with coins. 3$ in quarters, 1$ in dimes, and another dollar in a mixture of nickels and quarters. The rest was dollar bills. She sighed and huffed and puffed, telling him this was the last time he could go there and pay in that amount of change because she had all these other customers She had to take care of. He was the only one in the line, everyone else was paying with card at the pumps. He's never paid with change like that before at that gas station so idk what her issue was. And then she complained about having to count it all. This is not okay. We are just living our lives trying to get by and scrape what little money we have just to go to work and do it all over again. I've been in customer service almost my entire life. This woman needs to be written up or something because that is not okay. Your job is to take any money, smile, count it and then sit back down on your ass and go the rest of your day without being such a bitch. We are not going back to that gas station.

It's not as extensive a selection as some supermarkets, but this IGA store has a smaller footprint than some big chains in the area. I've been satisfied, for the most part, with the selection. And, frankly, I'm picky about fresh fruits and veggies. It offers fewer loss-leader discount deals than big chains, but that makes sense to me. It strikes me that the store has a higher ratio of actual food to junk food and nonfood products than the large chains; that seems like a good sign for a grocery store. I'm happy enough to keep returning instead of abandoning the bike for the car to pick up most of my groceries. For a specialty item (a particular cheese or tropical fruit needed for a recipe, e.g., or my favorite esoteric ice cream flavor), I may ask other members of the household to pick it up in their rounds. I'm still finding my way around the store, which isn't organized in a way that feels intuitive to me in every department. That said, it always takes a while to learn a market's layout well enough to navigate it on autopilot. Some other reviewers have mentioned milk being close to the pull date; I recommend asking for fresher milk. I buy only organic milk; the cartons of milk I've bought at Adams market have had plenty of shelf life left at purchase time and none of the milk spoiled before we finished it up. So far my experience with the mostly young checkout clerks has been mixed, as others have reported. Some have been pleasant and attentive, some cheerful but preoccupied with interacting with one another at the moment I came along. I so prefer having a human checkout clerk to a machine that I'm willing cope sometimes with a young person who hasn't yet grown into the job.
