Maxx and Ulta, so I can knock out a few errands in one trip, which is a big plus. I recently went vegan, and I've been loving to find so many delicious options here. Their deli doesn't carry Boar's Head, which might be a sticking point if you eat a lot of cold cuts, but their own brand is pretty good. And there a couple other brands I wish they'd carry, to save me having to stop in other stores. It's true their prices run a little higher than the Stop & Shop down the road, but to me it's worth it for the better experience and quality.

I'm always able to find what I'm looking for (possibly because the generic Walmart blueprints have imprinted into my brain). This Walmart can be cluttered, but it's Walmart... And I think of Walmart's as reasonably cluttered mega stores where I accept the fact that items aren't organized by color. I've never had any problem with customer service there, the employees are always friendly with me and do their best to help me if I need. For those that have issues with employees or complaints, there's even a Walmart Customer Service Line: 1 (800) 925-6278 available for use. How considerate of them! My expectations when I come to Walmart in Hamden is to be able to find what I need, and then some! Walmart is big, sells a lot of big stuff, and that's better to me. Plus, there's the Walmart app, that has the savings catcher, so you can scan your receipts and get money back if you paid more for an item at Walmart than you would have paid at another shop nearby, which is HUGE -- and another WIN in my book. I have no affiliation or ties to Walmart at all, I just like going to a place that has a wide variety of products, at decent prices. Yes, the Walmart in Hamden could be a little more organized, try and re-shelf items in their proper locations, and sweep the floor a bit more often... And we both agreed that the Whitneyville Food Center is as good an Italian deli and grocery store as we have ever visited. When you walk in, you're greeted by long aisles of fruits and vegetables, baked goods, grab and go showcases, prepared salads, deli meats and cheeses, steaks and pork and chicken and sausages, canned goods, pastas, breads and rolls, and lots of grocery items. We picked up 3/4 pound of ground veal ($7.69) for a Thanksgiving Bolognese, a huge 3.5 oz. coconut almond chocolate chip soft biscotti ($3.25), and two deli sandwiches. The sandwiches were on a hard roll and were priced at just $8 each for a pretty good sized sandwich. My Italian Combo had plenty of ham, pepperoni, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and onion on a super sift fresh hard roll. I had half for lunch today and the other half went into the fridge for tomorrow. The customer service was fantastic. The gent in the butcher department was very personable and funny, and the guy who made our sandwiches was friendly and professional. Put everything together, and this was an easy Five Star experience.

This food center is well organized and kept very nicely merchandised. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They take pride in their work and in their customer service. Every food display is clean and presented in an enticing manner. My elderly aunt is always happy to see me especially when I arrive at her door with a few grocery bags of her favorites from the Whitneyville food center.
