Oh boy where do I start.... The beginning. My first experience at Sushi Palace was at the location in Hamden CT (see my earlier review). I have recently discovered the location in Orange CT and ohh my gooooodness am I happy that I did! This place is my happy place, my safe space and all of my hearts desire. The servers are very friendly and speedy. The place is very clean and inviting. I have already eaten at this location probably ten times since discovering it and if my memory serves me right there has been no mess up's with the food orders (as often can happen with all you can eat sushi places). Now to get to what's important -- the sushi. It's truly impeccable. So fresh, the portions are very generous. As you can see in the pictures there isn't much else you can ask for!!! Trying this place. PARKING - very ample as it is in a strip mall on route 1 ENTRANCE - we were greeted by a waitress in the front and seated AMBIANCE - basically ok. Nothing fancy. Many tables but a small sushi bar with four chairs only. The tables are basic not fancy. MENU - they have a regular menu which is small. Their claim to fame is an all you can eat menu. SERVICE - nice and polite but kind of like a fast food experience. No small chit chat interactions. SUSHI - decent quality and offerings from the all you can eat menu which PRICE - kind of a plus with all you can eat at $30 a person OVERALL - for me a solid three and a half. My wife and I are gluten free. We have eaten sushi in dozens of places in the USA and abroad. We always take it for granted that basic maki sushi with rice wrapped with fillings like avocado and fish is gluten free. That's the beauty of a sushi house for the gluten free customer. You don't have to ask. You just know. Rice, vegetables, fish - hey, automatically gluten free right? Well, at Sushi Palace in Orange we did have to ask because we tasted bits of crunch in several of the kinds of rolls we ordered; and we were told by the server after checking with the sushi chefs that the crunch is an additive that is flour based. What!!!! Well, to make a long story short we both got glutenized with gas keeping us up all night and you know what else for 2 days running. Not recommending if you are gluten free. read more

Good environment with lots of space , place was empty so we were catered with fast fresh satisfactory sushi & sashimi . All you can eat ,soup salad or whatever you like. Staff waits around to see if you've finished eating to offer a sheet of paper-for more sushi portions . Lots of sushi ,sashimi and vegetables options available . I enjoyed the food. Beware this place will try to charge you for food that is uneaten. We tried one last option that was the Godzilla roll , it was 6 pieces of huge sushi that we couldn't finish 3 pieces, we were told that we couldn't waist it by staff . Went back for all you can eat! Menu is less extensive than their a la carte options of course but they have a great selection of both kitchen items and sushi, including specialty rolls. Price is fair at $30 per person for a weekend dinner. I like that you can specify exactly how many pieces of each kitchen item you want, especially things like tempura where you can pick and choose which vegetables you want instead of getting a miscellaneous platter. read more

Define all you can eat? If you have that frame of thinking it's wrong in this place. They will charge you extra for food left in the plate even if you really cannot finish your food. The service is rude and they hover waiting to add something in your bill. Ambiance is basically a dark cafeteria with a weird smell as well. Avoid this place at all costs yelpies!!! Not worth time and money. I will post later names of servers that is the quintessential definition of rude. And an extra bonus, the sushi and sashimi is freezer burnt. Enjoy. read more

We had a great experience at sushi palace . They sat us immediately and got our drinks quickly . They were attentive , personable and super friendly . We love sushi and enjoyed various different rolls . We even tried the chicken fried rice. It was made to order and was super fresh. We didn't even realize that the sushi was all You can eat service . We were pleasantly surprised !!!!! All the staff seemed to work as a team and were often checking on us to see if we needed anything and if everything was ok. Don't waste your time! The food has gone downhill quickly. When I asked for a fork for my daughter, they handed her the cheapest plastic fork. They served hot food on almost school lunch style plates. The chicken looked like slop. Presentation is lacking and quality is a far miss. Pros- they serve you quickly Cons- sushi filling consists of more rice than the filling it's self, forgetting some of the orders from the kitchen from the all you can eat options. Not worth the $30 for all you can eat especially it not into sushi like that. Sushi X has more options in my opinion for the all you can eat. read more

The rolls and sashimi tasted very very fresh. All their food options I tried were great notwithstanding their calamari. The staff was nice and attentive to our orders and dining experience. I've wanted to try this place forever and it didn't quite live up to my expectations. We were seated very quickly but the decor inside is nothing special. The gyoza was the best part but we split the plate among 3 of us, so two pieces each isn't that filling. I ordered a spicy salmon roll, a Sakura roll and a spicy grill salmon roll. The spicy salmon was very good, however, I wish I got three of these instead of the other two. The Sakura roll comes with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna and outside spicy crab. The shrimp with the tempura coating tasted almost stale. I couldn't even finish it so my boyfriend had to so we weren't charged extra for it. The spicy grill salmon somehow was mixed up with the yummy maki because there is mango in both, however I received mine with raw salmon and there was no crunchy top salmon, just more raw salmon... what also would have helped is they'll pointing out which roll is which, instead, they just put the plate down and walked away. It was a good think I took a picture of the menu/ordering sheet so we could go back and remember what the 3 of us ordered. I like to get my sushi fix every so often. I've been here multiple times over the years and it hits the spot, but don't expect anything fancy or special. A lot of times I think they just make the rolls however they feel like it, most of them have similar ingredients inside even though the toppings vary. The appetizers are small like 1 or 2 pieces of whatever you are getting. Service is just that, service. Don't expect any over the top friendliness here. They used plastic utensils and plates during our last visit due to Covid as well as covered the platters with plastic wrap before placing sushi on top. Extra layer of protection, quite literally. A super delicious and clean spot, Sushi Palace is nestled into a plaza with Starbucks, DSW and others. It was packed as normal for a Friday night, with about a ten minute wait for an indoor table (they do not have outdoor seating). The all you can eat buffet option is a steal, at just $25.99 for an adult to eat as much as you can force. Everything is delicious, but keep your eye on what you order as they tend to "forget" multiple parts of your order the first time around. They'll also try and push you out quite quickly; enjoy it and don't rush! Seriously, the cleanest of Japanese buffet houses that I've been to and the food was delicious. This place is awesome! Came here on a Friday night with some friends. I started off the meal with vegetable gyoza and edamame, which were both delicious. The gyoza were pan fried and served with a nice sauce. Next, I had a sweet potato roll, a peanut avocado roll, and a vegetable tempura roll. The rolls here are HUGE! They fill you up pretty quickly. I was most impressed with the vegetable tempura roll, it was so flavorful! After that, I had more vegetable gyoza and a side salad. Both were awesome, I loved the ginger salad dressing. You can't go into sushi palace expecting your waiter to actually pay attention to you. The service is never good, I only ever go for the food. I know not to expect good service because I've never had it there, even when it's not busy. Now when it comes to the food, I am pretty satisfied. I went last week and did the all you can eat. I actually didn't check off chicken teriyaki, but for some reason they gave it to me. It was good, much better than the spicy chicken skewers I asked for. The skewers had very very dry chicken on them and I couldn't eat it. I like their gyoza and shumai a lot as well. I like the spicy tuna roll and the peanut avocado roll. All you can eat sushi is really hard to find, so it's convenient if that's what you're looking for. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to be assisted by your waiter often. It was also pretty pricy, so I recommend making sure you're hungry enough to make it worth your penny. Since the pandemic is not over, they served our food on paper plates and Saran Wrap covered platters. I didn't like that they gave us plastic utensils instead of reusable ones. This place used to have a A rating on the door , now it's a B rating which made me hesitant about going in. Well the sushi was good ( fresh) . The only thing I did t like was they didn't bring us a lot of things we asked for on the All You can Eat menu. Seems like they do that on purpose to see if you notice. Came here today with a co-worker friend for lunch. Fresh sushi, cold noodle and garden salads were great too. Same concept as the one in Hamden, although this one has like 20 times more parking and the inside of the restaurant is reasonably bigger. Decent service, items come from both the kitchen and sushi chefs at different times. I had an electric lemonade and my friend had a sex on the beach. Both drinks had great flavors, but there was way too much ice in each glass. The only downfall to our experience was the large party of soccer moms and 10 small aged children who dominated the sound level of the place. Oh and their children were hardcore crying, swinging from the window blinds, jumping on the table chair cushions. I kid you not. read more

My husband & I always see the restaurant as it's right across the street from where we grocery shop- and we finally decided to give it a try. The ambience was nice, soft lighting. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Monday for lunch. Staff seemed friendly- but not very knowledgable. We had asked about several items that we didn't see on the menu and each time we asked, they responded with a furrowed brow and obvious confusion. They didn't know what crab rangoon, thai iced tea, or fried ice-cream was. We were disappointed that there was no fried rice or rangoon on the all-you-can-eat menu. The food was...okay. The sushi was warm, which isn't my favorite & one or two of my rolls wasn't cut all of the way through, it seemed a little sloppy. We also found the rolls to be very salty- not sure if it was the seaweed or what. The Philly Roll had really thick amounts of cream cheese- it was tough to get down.
