Clean, organized and inviting store with a tea and coffee and snack cafe. I ordered an unsweetened ice tea and it was brewed on the spot. There was a touch of an inviting flavor that made it extra good! I also purchased some cucumber kimchi which I cannot wait to try. Last time I was here I got some pickled ginger which was super. Sells coleslaw and plain, lovely cooked shrimp- I sat next to an 80yo eating a meal by herself of plump, perfectly poached shrimp and coleslaw. Where else can you get this? They also sell croiffles. Banana pudding as good as nyc. Boba. This place made our day. We got Shumai and they asked- do you want us to steam them or fry them? !! Each meal came with a unique dip or sauce or dressing. I forgot to ask for kimchee with our meal and I am sad because I think they might make their own. Nice bathrooms. Great service. You can be a little eclectic being at the seafood market, Korean food, fried seafood, and then a little coffee shop with pastries. they have premade sushi rolls, but they also make stuff to order. Why I give this place five stars is because it's authentic Korean food made with love. I am half Japanese and do most of the cooking myself. I am really picky about my rice and my sushi. If you know anything about sushi you know a huge part is the actual rice. The quality and care that went into their rice is top notch. Certain days of the week they make specific Korean dishes that I love. Gimbap (Monday and Friday) Japchae. Best Gimpad in CT hands down. The quality of all the ingredients and care which its rolled shows the love. Woo Young Woo would approve. The place is super cute inside, the little coffee shop with is separated with a little glass wall. So you don't feel like your getting coffee at your local fish market. Was in the Fairfield area for a quick getaway and was so pleasantly surprised to find Blue + Berries! The owner (I didn't catch her name) was incredibly friendly, the store was well stocked and nicely decorated! Ordered the doshirak specials (spicy pork and tonkatsu) and both were authentic and fantastic. Also picked up a spicy salmon roll which had perfect rice and a good portion of fish. What an amazing addition to Fairfield! The owner immediately gave me the most warm welcome when I came in. The store is divided into two sections - the blue is the fish/grocery section and the berries is the pastry and coffee shop. They've got plenty of fresh fish and a sushi counter in the back along with several Korean and Asian grocery items. There are some prepared meals in the sushi counter and in the refrigerated section like marinated bulgogi, fresh kimchi, seafood bisque, and plenty more. I chose some sushi since I was in a rush and my favorite honey butter chips and maple cotton candy. I hope they add some more Korean banchan like the ones you can find at the bigger stores. I then went into the pastry shop and had to hold myself back from getting one of everything. I got the currant scone and the almond brioche. Everything is freshly baked on premises and reminds me of the pastry shops you find in Koreatown (ie paris baguette). The sushi was fresh and delicious. The almond brioche was so light, not too sweet and perfect for an afternoon snack. I only wish I had gotten more! My mom loved her scone. The prices here are more than reasonable and the sushi is a huge portion and great quality for the price. Very convenient location in the old navy plaza in Fairfield with plenty of parking. What a gem this place is! They have a cafe, market for Asian dry food and fresh seafood; they even have prepared sushi platters. The cafe is separate from the market and has a seating area. They bake all their own pastries including pre ordered cakes; there's boba tea, hot coffee of all sorts, pastries, bento boxes, etc. I had the best almond croissant and latte. Small Korean family owned business that sells some great baked goods, coffee, seafood, and Korean food! The owner is super nice and she clearly has a talent for baking. Their croffle (croissant-waffle) was so good. Texture was great (crispy on the outside, soft on the inside). We ate it so quick that we forgot to take photos. Their coffee was great too. We love this place so much!! It's such a unique concept and they execute it so well. The coffee and pastries are phenomenal and the sushi was so fresh and delicious! But best of all the staff is so so nice. Every time I come here with my daughter they are always giving her free samples of the baked goods, free crackers, they gave her a cute little Christmas tree pencil around the holidays. The owner's dad, who heads up the seafood market has been in the industry for decades and his experience is evident in the quality and freshness of the seafood they sell. The owner explained that she accompanies her dad to the wholesale market early in the morning, several days a week to ensure that they get the freshest and highest quality goods. After seeing the reviews here I stopped by to see what it was about. I took out some rib eye bulgogi from the refrigerated case and bought a scone and a croissant. The pastries are waiting for breakfast tomorrow but I cooked up the bulgogi for lunch for the two of us and we both loved it. That added to the nicest people who are working there. The woman who I believe owns it with her husband and I were discussing Korean food and the work involved in the side dishes. We ordered $100's in sushi for Christmas Eve pick up. The only menu lists several rolls and sushi with no explanation. Well we ordered what we thought we would like based on the menu ie... salmon roll, rainbow roll, shrimp tempura roll etc. We got our order home for Christmas Eve with family to find that every roll was filled with imitation crab! Pictured below is their fresh brioche, lemon and vanilla Madeline's, blueberry muffin (a big favorite- a dense vanilla based muffin. A huge hit!) and the yummy craffle- croissant meets waffle. Note-The bakery is separate from the fish market. There is an interior door that allows you to walk to the fish market if you want.
