Fantastic little fish market/restaurant offering fresh seafood, sushi, and prepared meals. I loved their fish & chips and lobster rolls! I stopped by for a quick lunch and was impressed with their fast casual hot meals. My group mentioned that the fish & chips were some of the best they've had! The lobster roll was also tasty, and it comes generously sized with plenty of lobster meat and sides of coleslaw and your choice of fries, veggies, chips, or corn. The brioche bun for the roll was also perfectly grilled and buttered up. In fact, we learned that the restaurant gets their buns fresh daily from a nearby bakery. Since we had arrived for an earlier lunch and the bread wasn't ready yet, there was actually a ~20+ min delay in getting our food. Regardless, the food was delicious, and the staff were very apologetic and offered to serve our sides while we waited. If we lived closer or brought a cooler, we'd probably bring fresh seafood back home. Would definitely love to stop by again one day! read more

This is the best fish place I have found in the area. The fish is fresh, they have extras too. I bought an array of sushi grade fish: wild Alaskan King, fluke, tuna, toro, and bay scallops. I came a long distance to get haddock fish and chips from this place. I had it two years ago, met the owner. Had a great experience, delicious dinner. I walked in this afternoon. Asked if they had haddock - the incredibly rude man who is managing the store told me that they did their fish and chips with cod and that's what I wanted. Stupidly I did not take the time to check and see if they had any. I ordered the fish and chips that he said they had. It was mediocre. The french fries were different sizes, cold, and mooshy . They look like they've been put on my plate from someone else's. The coleslaw was half mayonnaise and a couple of shreds of cabbage. As I had just finished my meal, I thought to myself... This wonderful fish store from before has really gone downhill. How is it possible that they don't have haddock? Then I went in and of course there it was in the case. I would happily have paid an up charge for what I came in and asked for. Instead, I was told what I wanted, and I got a completely mediocre meal. Fail. Terrible customer service. We recently ordered takeout from Nordic Fish and everything we ordered was fresh, perfectly cooked and so delicious. We had Fish and Chips and a Fisherman's Platter. We loved the batter and the cod was flaky and moist, the shrimp was perfect and the scallops were so tender and tasty that they melted in your mouth. The fries, cole slaw and tartar were all equally good. The portions were generous and the price was very reasonable. We also tried the mussels in garlic wine broth and the Manhattan Clam Chowder. The muscles were huge and very tender and the sauce was amazing. The Clam Chowder was loaded with huge chunks of clams and tasted like homemade! I ordered the Fish & Chips, and my wife went with a hot Lobster Roll w/ fries. Total cost was just over $41. We took the meals to a nearby beach to consume. We loved the Lobster roll, had a good amount of meat in it. My fish was tasty, but I wasn't too keen on the batter they use, the only real complaint I had today. Fries & slaw were also excellent. The seafood selection was so intriguing that I violated my ban on using the word "local" regarding food, a rule self-imposed after "Portlandia" mocked the practice. Delightfully, Catch of The Day has a plural meaning - you select fish from the case and they grill it. I opted for monkfish, from Montauk, as I haven't had that in perhaps 10 years. It's a fine choice for seafood centrists who want something more flavorful than tilapia but not, for lack of a better word, too fishy. But wait there's more. For a place that isn't even a restaurant, there are fine flavors here, even beyond the super-fresh aquatic offerings. The potatoes that accompanied the fish were exemplary and I enjoyed the sauce too. And the frutti di mare was a refreshing hit of squid, shrimp and octopus, with a sauce that wasn't too distracting from the main event but provided a welcome cameo appearance from fennel. I visited Nordic Fish solely on the purpose of getting myself a sushi cake for my birthday. I had trouble finding it as its a bit tiny compared to the surrounding buildings. There were so many options to choose from and I was tempted to add onto my cake order. The employees were friendly and quick to serve. The cake was a decent size and was so pretty! The fish was very fresh. Overall, this was a great sushi cake and I was so happy with this decision! I will definitely keep this tradition. WOW!!!!!! Wanted a catered clam bake for son and gf living in a land locked state that were coming for a stay. Nordic fish was recommended to me. We ordered 10 beach bakes, the food was the best I've ever had. We ate and ate , there were still left overs. The lobsters, clams, corn were to die for. They had 4 different kinds of oysters, so we ordered 3 of each to try: - Cora Cressy Oysters from Medomak, ME ($2.00+) - Duxbury Oysters from MA ($2.00+) - Copps Island Oysters from Westport, CT ($1.75+) - Mystic Oysters ($1.75+) Our favorite was the Copps Island Oysters, which we ordered another half dozen of. Usually I don't reviews, but the service was so terrible I have to warn others. I took a friend for a birthday lunch. I ordered a beach bake, crab cakes and fish tacos. We wanted to stay and enjoy the sun, so we were seated outside. The front was small, but it didn't matter. When the worker brought out the fish tacos and crab cakes, it was brought out in a take home container with no utensils or condiments. They didn't ask if we wanted a drink and no napkins were provided. We fought through, fish tacos were left on the plate, crab cakes were decent, but when the beach bake came that was it. I've never had the worst whole lobster. They basically took it out the tank, steamed and served it. Maybe it's not known for deliciously favored food. A place that has so much potential, lacks the ability to cash in because of poor service and lazy chefs. Happy eating...elsewhere. read more

While I was not a big fan of the coating, (another reviewer said the same) and thought it needed a few more seconds in the fryer,the fish was fresh tasting and the portion was generous. Fries were o.k. and the coleslaw was not something I would look to get again. It was nice to just sit outside and people watch. The place is small but clean and nicely decorated. The fish and shellfish in the cases looked great and many people came to pick up trays and orders to take away. Lots of lobstahs in the tanks! Plenty of soup and prepared sauces to accompany any fish dish. The sushi station was busy with customers and prepping items for take out. It all looked enticing and if had been going straight home I would've gotten one of the prepared rolls. The also have a sushi cake which I had never even heard of. My beloved and I recently made a good and sensible life choice -- even better than getting health insurance, ha! -- we re-visited Nordic Fish in Fairfield, CT! : ) It was seriously a great decision. And yes, we came all the way from NYC, to indulge again! : ) This time around, we got to meet the owner - Jardar - who kindly commented on my review the first time around. He was so joyfully welcoming and hospitable, which warmed our hearts. And we got to see our old friend (by now), Jaime, as well as meet a new friend, Celine. Jaime was so friendly, and introduced us to an appetizer: crackers and the smoked white fish spread; it was so marvelous and almost melted in our mouths! And Celine graciously lavished us with her warm company and a delightfully memorable pudding, made by her talented and wonderful mother. Wow, what a heavenly treat that was! : ) Yum! We had such a fun time. This time, rather than opting for sushi, we chose hot food, so to speak. The fried calamari, fish and chips and clam chowder were honestly impeccable - so fresh, scrumptious and filling. And I have to say that I'm a real "food snob," when it comes to seafood. My Dad grew up in two villages (in mainland Greece) -- one was in the mountains (near Delfi) and the other was (where his Mom was raised), by the sea. They would mainly spend time in the summers there...well, to keep this short and sweet, LOL, I've had the privilege of enjoying recently caught seafood in Kirra (the village at the seashore), and this food tasted just as clean, fresh and delicious. Tuna steaks were one of the best I ever had and the swordfish was excellent as well. Shrimp cocktail was cooked perfectly and chipotle sauce as well as the honey mustard sauce are excellent.
