    Medium to deep cups

If a more delicious oyster exists in our parts, I'm not sure I've found it. Copps Island Oysters, harvested from beds in the Norwalk/Westport Island Chain, are plump, but not overly large, and perfectly balanced: equal parts sweet and briny, not nearly as hard hitting on the saline as many East Coast oysters. Given the excellent flavor and the texture (ranging in my batch from silky to medium chewy), these are oysters that I want to chew and savor rather than slurp down whole. And although I generally love my oysters with a little squirt of lemon, these are good enough to eat without accoutrements. Copps Island Oysters are bottom "planted" (seeded?), rather than grown in cages or floating trays. That rough-and-tumble upbringing makes for a much bumpier shell than their gently floated counterparts, which can make shucking a little bit more a challenge. The medium-deep to deep cups do hold in a lot of that wonderful liquor, but the irregular shells can make it hard to work an oyster knife into the hinge at just the right angle. These weren't as hard to shuck as Mystics and Wellfleets in my experience, but weren't as easy as those nice, smooth Fishers Island Oysters, either. Fifty oysters were a jaw-droppingly well priced $40. Shipping to me (within CT) was a touch north of $23. Sixty-three dollars and change for 50 delicious oysters is a good deal, folks! My one and only negative comment: There were more dry oysters in this batch than in my last shipment of oysters from Fishers Island Oyster Farm. Not sure if that was particular to my batch, attributable to the fact that they were not shipped flat. The dry ones were still ok to eat -- just not as good as their liquor-filled counterparts of course. Overall, though, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again. Copps Island oysters are absolutely luscious!

This place is incredible…read more From the sushi to the absolutely freshest seafood its A+ top to bottom. They even carry steak in case you are going for the good Ole surf and turf. Service is also top notch. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. My favorite food item here is the Nordic roll. I have one and I'm full for the rest of the day. Its one of the best bites of sushi you can have in CT. Enjoy!

Fantastic little fish market/restaurant offering fresh seafood, sushi, and prepared meals. I loved…read moretheir fish & chips and lobster rolls! I stopped by for a quick lunch and was impressed with their fast casual hot meals. My group mentioned that the fish & chips were some of the best they've had! The lobster roll was also tasty, and it comes generously sized with plenty of lobster meat and sides of coleslaw and your choice of fries, veggies, chips, or corn. The brioche bun for the roll was also perfectly grilled and buttered up. In fact, we learned that the restaurant gets their buns fresh daily from a nearby bakery. Since we had arrived for an earlier lunch and the bread wasn't ready yet, there was actually a ~20+ min delay in getting our food. Regardless, the food was delicious, and the staff were very apologetic and offered to serve our sides while we waited. If we lived closer or brought a cooler, we'd probably bring fresh seafood back home. Would definitely love to stop by again one day!

This review is an emotional outpouring…read more Stew Leonard's (SL) has been a part of my life for 55 years. I first came to this store soon after it opened, when it was much smaller and the only SL store. I now live a few hours away from any of the stores, but 2 SL shopping bags are among those my family uses regularly. I still go here and to other SLs when it's opportune, and the close relationship between SL and my family culminated when, upon his passing, SL SR. was placed a few strides away from my parents at Willowbrook Cemetery (rated 5). Over the years our family developed a close personal connection with the store. My mother became good friends with the head chef there (the prepared foods are excellent--I still always get the ambrosia salad when I'm there!). Sorry I don't recall his name. He was there from at least the mid 90s to the early 2000s. As my mother grew older we started having increasing numbers of SL items as side dishes at our holiday meals. In 2001 when she died we had SL provide the whole Thanksgiving dinner. I recall going in and speaking to the head chef, informing him of my mother's passing. He said he had wondered what had happened to her and missed her. The connection between our family and the store grew with my wife and kids. When we got engaged I got my wife's parents a SL gift basket, complete with Elsa the cheese cow. We would all visit this store and some of the others while traveling, enjoying the ice cream on site and bringing non-perishables back home, as well as apple cider in season--we'd bring the coolers for that. I don't know if my mother ever met either the Senior or Junior proprietor. I won't say I 'met' either of them, but I did encounter them both together once. There were no intros, and it was brief and terse. It was early summer 1979 or '80; like many college students, I thought SL would be a good summer 'gig'. I went to apply and found no parking spaces, but saw another parking lot across the street. I parked there and two men, one old one young, both dressed business formal, went walking past. The older one asked why I was parking there. I noticed the SL employee-only sign only then; I said I was going to apply for a job. He insisted there were none available. I started to say I would like to just leave an application, but he cut me off, saying again "there are no jobs!" [Please continue reading in the review space for the Stew Leonard's store in Danbury.
